I'm planning on getting the studiologic VMK 188 Plus and am wondering what any users out there feel about this product. Help would be much appreciated.

Different execution plan in ApEx and SQL/PLUS

I have weird problem with sql query exectuion plans.
DB version: 10.2.0.1
ApEx version: 3.1.2
I have workspace parsed as SCHEMA1.
I have a view under different schema - SCHEMA2.view1 and a function SCHEMA2.func1.
I have a query like SELECT * from SCHEMA2.view1 WHERE col1 = SCHEMA2.func1(:bind1)
"col1" is a indexed column.
When I execute this query in SQL/PLUS under user SCHEMA1 with the same bind value, then index is used perfectly.
When I execute this query in ApEx report then index is not used, full scan is performed and hash join is done between the tables used in the view and explain plan shows that a view is formed during execution.
What can be the reason for such a different behaviour.
Statistics are freshly calculated, FIRST_ROWS hint doesn't help, using the INDEX hint results only index full scan.
This happens only if I use a view and pl/sql function together in the query. If I use view with Oracle built in function like NVL instead then it works perfectly. Also when I access directly the same tabels with the same PL/SQL function then the execution plan is perfect. Only if the view and pl/sql function is used together in the query then execution plan is bad.
It is not a problem of this specific query but, many different other queries with same pattern also. I have tried ApEx versions 3.0, 3.1.1 and 3.1.2.
At the same time the exectuion plan is good in SQL/PLUS and TOAD.
Any ideas?

I didn't help. But I rewrote the queries so that there is no database view and PL/SQL function used in the same query. I still don't know the reason for such different behavior, but I just try to accept it and keep in mind for future :)

Adjusting my backup plan with Lion and TM Plus Clone

Hi all, I am rethinking my backup plan for when I rollout Lion in my business. Currently in SL, we have clones scheduled to run every nite doing incremental backups and then we rotate the disks out periodically for offsite storage. Now I am thinking that since my testing shows that TM works really well in Lion, that we should use that as well. So I noted this week that, on average, TM eats up about 10gigs per day on the backup drive. Our installs / data per machine amounts to (let's round up to reduce the math) 250gb, and our drives are all 500gb total. That means that TM will cycle back every 25 days or so, yes? So if I reduce the clone schedule down to once every three weeks, things should be covered - right? Thx for any comments!

Make a bootable clone with CarbonCopyCloner as well, then you can really sleep good at night. In case of catastrophic failure

Is this a good keyboard?

I've been searching for an 88 midi keyboard controller with hammer action and I found the studiologic VMK 188 Plus and I'm feeling it's what I'm going to get. Just want to know what others feel about this product. Any thought's would be appreciated thanks.

You can make a MIDI connection via a MIDI interface to use the Nord as a keyboard controller for Software Instruments, as you appear to have discovered, or you can use the audio outputs via an audio inteface to record the Nord's own sounds onto an audio track in Logic.
If you have a MIDI connection both ways (in to out and out to in) and also an audio connection you can use an External Instrument track to record and play back MIDI data - this gives you the advantage of being able to edit the MIDI data and when you're ready you can then arm the relevant audio track and let it play through to record your part, which is probably the best option. You haven't said what you're using as far as interfaces go, so its a general response which hopefully will give you an idea.

88 Note Weighted Keyboard

Hi Everyone,
I'm upgrading to Logic Pro 8, mainly for the Mainstage program and sounds. I need to get rid of my cumbersome Yamaha Motif 8 (toooo big and heavy) and looking for a good 72 to 88-note midi controller with plenty of dials and sliders for real-time control. The catch is I want decent hammer action on the keys. M-Audio stuff is a bit too plastic for my liking. Does anyone have a recommendation on this front? I know I could always split up the keyboard from a controller module, but was hoping to simplify and have it all in one unit.

Motif is a great controller, don't know why you'd want to downgrade - but hey!
Kurzweil PC2/PC3 - great controllers
Fatar/Studiologic - VMK 188 plus (exactly what you're looking for, and their action is used in a lot of keyboards - great weighted action). I've had a Studiologic for ages, all made of metal, and great piano/weighted action.
That's all that comes to mind here, roland probably has some but I never really liked their products (personal opinion - holds no real water).
Yamaha S-series are great too.

Seeking a better (more cost effective) family plan

We currently have 5 lines on the Nationwide Talk & Text Share 700 (mins) plan, which costs $80/month, plus $10 (x 5) for each line. Three of the phones have a $30/month charge for (2gb each) data plan. So after taxes I am paying over $240/month for wireless phone services.
Would prefer to share a pool of data (i.e. 10GB for 4-5 phones), don't need to upgrade yearly, but don't want to pay significantly more than I am already paying, even if I replace one or both of the remaining basic phones with smart phones.
Have discussed exactly this with multiple reps at the local VZW stores, but they seem to have nothing to offer other than switching to "Edge" (more money, and I get to pay forever for the phones), or paying an additional $30/month (each) to swap either/both basic phones for smart phones.
Surely there must be something which competes with the AT&T Mobile Share Value Plan, which seems to offer exactly what I want (10GB of data to share between up to 5 phones). Can anyone suggest a Verizon plan that makes as much sense?

They have a new plan of 4 devices with unlimited talk and texting and 10GB of data (2.5 GB per line of 4G LTE data) for $100 plus taxes and surcharges. So it is not for 5 lines sorry.
But you pay $38 per device for activation and you need all new devices under the EIP program so add another $100 a month for the four devices ($25x4=$100)
So its $100+$100+$154(activation fees) $354 and taxes and surcharges. So the cost is high when you first switch. Then $200 a month until the phones are paid off (24 months)
You will then pay just around $110 a month there after.
The good news is if you go over that 2.5 GB of data it just gets throttled and no further charges for what is over.
The bad news, well T-Mobile has lousy coverage outside of major cities. So if you travel outside your home even on a highway or back road you get zip coverage. And Sprint is no better maybe worse coverage and speed wise.
Big decision to make

Over charged !!!!!!!!!! When it is in my plan

I have the us and Canada plan. They are charging me roaming at least $400 by now. When it is include in my plan I shouldn't be getting bill for this . When I called in the reps were very rude and said if you don't like it change your phone. And when I went to the store where I got my phone the rep said I don't know why you are getting billed for this you shouldn't be. But not thing has been done. And no one wants to help! I noticed this because my bills kept getting higher and higher because I did not notice it in the beginning and it has been happening for a few months now and I have had the same phone for about 2 years now and the same plan ! How can I pass a custom value to the ecommerce invoice?

I would like to pass a barcode or an image to the ecommerce invoice once they buy my product. The idea is that they would print the email or pdf attached to it and reclaim their products on my physical store in case shipping is not allowed for their area. Is this possible?.

I'm not sure if that php generator would work on the CRM because from what I understand it only uses javascript. I found these websites that might interest you:

My plan was combining both methods plus a jquery barcode generator to insert the pdf in the ecommerce invoice, but your method seems better. Have you tested it? Does it work with the {tag_invoicenumber}?.
I haven't had the time to work on this because I'm working for some clients right now. But if I do get something to work I'll post it here. Hope that helped.

Can't install Adobe Air on Mac OS 10.5.6

I cannot, for the life of me, get Adobe AIR to install on my
Mac Pro. Whenever I open the installer I get this message:

The problem is that when the dialog window pops up (so that the AIR Installer can proceed) asking for my password (my user account is already filled in), my keyboard just drops dead!
The cursor is on the password textbox but whatever I do (type), nothing happens.
So I click on the Finder Spotlight Search box and I can type. I click back on the user/password dialog, and again I can't type. Cursor is there, blinking, but nothing gets "typed". It's just dead.
So I figure, ok, I'll type my password on Finder's Spotlight searchbox, copy it, and paste it on the user/password dialog. Doesn't work.
When I call it a night, and exit the AIR Installer, my Mac seems to be unresponsive. I have no remedy but to press and hold the Power button. Nothing works. Can't shut down using the menu, etc. Finder just seems to drop dead. Dock is also unresponsive. I'm like WTF!!???
There is nothing wrong with my iMac, since I can run chunky apps like Logic Pro 9.1.1, Final Cut Pro, Propellerhead Reason, Cinema 4D, etc. no problem. I have all the latest drivers and updates.
I've scanned all drives using Disk Utility, etc. All is ok.
But when I launch the AIR Installer, all hell breaks loose.
I can't figure it out...
I have a 2008 24" Alum iMac, 2.8GHz Core2Duo, 4Gb RAM, 320Gb + 1Tb HDDs, ATI video, stock keyboard and mouse, TC Konnekt 6 Firewire audio interface, Fatar Studiologic VMK-188Plus Master MIDI controller keyboard via USB. Nothing strange or weird here... Everything works like a charm. Nice and snappy.

How do I get my bill fixed???

My daughter and I signed up with Verizon on a family plan. The person that signed us up couldn't get the computer to work right while we were there trying to sign us up so he put us on two different plans that day and switch us to a family plan the next day. We were told that they would wave the activation fee's. We are being charged one day on a different plan then we ever wanted plus activation fee's. At first we were even given two bills and we were to only pay around $160 for the two of us for what we wanted and I got a bill for over $115 and a $163 bill. I don't understand what is going on. I went over to take care of this in the store yesterday and I was told today everything would be fine. I have 1 bill for part of a month that is over $120 and still has a activation fee on there. What do I do to try to get my bill correct and be able to pay the right amount before it is due. I think the guy that helped us must be new since he has to ask everyone to help him out.

PL/SQL is different than SQL it's a different engine, if you want to compare speed between forms and raw SQL you need to use SQL*Plus.
best was to compare is to check the Explain Plan.
Open an SQL*Plus session use the below command to see the plan and the result speed.

I can't wait 'till the iPhone hits Australia. And I want to set up my email and have it all sorted before I buy my iPhone. My question is which email provider should I choose. I am with Windows Live Mail at the moment and I'm happy with it but it's not the paid version (and I don't plan on paying). I am looking into setting up a gMail account. Can get some advice based on features, how easy it is to use, how easy it is to set up.
p.s I don't plan on paying for any plus packages, just the basic free ones.

Hi guys, I have a problem with calling my java service

i am calling java methods for data. we are using lcds for calling java from flex. I have been successfully called couple of java methods but when i try to call one particular service i am getting below error.

i have set up destination properly and i can see in network monitor. i am actually sending the required object with proper values.
