Planning rfresh error - Network error, cannot send data

Hi,
While refreshing the Planning from the desktop, it gives the above error after doing all the 41 steps. Incidently we noticed that while doing the restructuring of the the data base by planning desktop, the Essbase cube is being stopped. We tried NetworkDelay, NetworkRetry count settings in essbase cfg file, it is more than the minimum values recommended. And also we tried chaning Data File cache, Data cache settings. It didnt work. Finally we cleared all data and refreshed, it worked fine added all new members in the outline. Can anybody tell us why it is happening, and what is the possible solution.

Don't feel too special, this error happens in many environments, many situations. While it can often by minimized, it is rarely fully resolved.

A brief explanation: typically, this error occurs because either the client failed to receive a response to a request, or the server failed to receive the client's request. If your network utilization is consistently too high, changes to retries or delays will not help much, you will just have to live with the situation. Simple collisions are unavoidable even in low network utilization conditions, and even modest retry and delay settings will be fine in most cases. In other words, the settings are more of a band-aid than a real resolution (not that I don't value the band-aid).

If it is possible to address the issue with your IT/network department, it may be a situation where the traffic in one segment can be identified as the culprit (i.e. the server farm itself), and thus taking the server off the current hub and putting it on a less busy one may be a good resolution. Apart from this, there isn't a whole lot that can be done.

HTH.
• Network Error: Cannot Send Data (1042012) in Hyperion Planning

I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.1
I'm getting this error when i'm trying to refresh my Planning database.
Com.hyperion.planning.olap.EssbaseException: Network error [%s]: Cannot Send Data (1042012)
Any suggestions?

First make sure your essbase is up and running. If it is then:
Increase the values for NETDELAY and NETRETRYCOUNT.
Check the index cache size, data cache size, and data block size to make sure that they are within the recommended ranges.
How to do it and how much to set, you will get this information in Essbase database administrator's guide:

When I am on my home wifi I can send e-mail. When I am not on my home e-mail but on a wifi network or using the 3g network I cannot send e-mail. HELP HOW TO FIX.

I know this question is a few years old now, but I recently found myself having the exact same issues;
Using my iphone or ipad at home created no problems at all, but I couldn't send e mails when away from my home network.
I recently switched broadband supplier at home and set up a new e mail address, then my problems began!
I openly admit I'm not great with technology and, to be honest, some of the answers provided on these forums confuse me more than the questions!
But this worked for me:
I went along the lines that the fault wasn't with my idevice but possibly with the broadband provider (in my case Plusnet) so I contacted their customer support.
They referred me to the set up process shown below;
From your home screen press Settings.
From the setting menu, choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars followed by Add Account…
From the Add Account… menu choose Other.
Fill in your Full Name, Email Address, Password and Description and press Next.If you need help with these, there's more detail underneath the screenshot.
Full name: Enter your name (or the name you'd like people to see when you send them email)
Email Address: Enter the address you're setting up, this could be a Plusnet address ([email protected]) or a hosted domain address ([email protected])
Password: Enter the password for your email address (I don't know what this is)
Description: Enter a useful description of the email address you're setting up (e.g. Mum's email). You can put whatever you want here
Press Next to continue.
More settings will appear. Some will already be filled in.Enter the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server details and press Next. If you need help with these, there's more detail underneath the screenshot.
IMAP/POP This will default to IMAP - it's up to you which one you want to use (I don't know what to choose)
Incoming Mail Server settings
Host Name: For IMAP this is imap.plus.net - for POP, this is mail.plus.net
User Name & Password: Enter the username and password for the email address you're setting up (I don't know what these are)
Outgoing Mail Server settings
Host Name: relay.plus.net
User Name & Password: These are optional, but if you want to send mail while on the move (e.g. while connected to mobile or wireless networks), we recommend filling these in.Enter the username and password for the email address you're setting up (I don't know what these are)
When you're finished, press Next.
If the box shown below appears, press Yes (you may need to do this twice).
After a minute or two, your email address will be set up and ready to use.If you chose IMAP when setting up you’ll be able to choose whether you want to use Notes (if you chose POP you’ll be taken back to the settings screen from step 2). Press Save when you’re done.
That's all you need to do. To start checking your email, go back to your home screen and press Mail.
Now I fully understand that it may be different for each broadband provider but the processes must be similar.
The key appears to be in setting up the outgoing message server settings in step 5. Where it says "optional, but if you want to send mail while on the move (e.g. while connected to mobile or wireless networks), we recommend filling these in.
http://www.plus.net/support/email/setup/ios-setup.shtml#pagetop
Where it says "we recommend" I think it should read "you must fill these in"
I went back to Settings - Mail,Contacts, Calenders - click on the offending account and click on the account shown.
Under OUTGOING MAIL SERVER click on the server, in my case relay.plus.net, and click again to show the details. make sure you enter your user name and password and after a few seconds the account will verify and show a load of ticks.
I tried this on my phone this morning while on 3G only. I sent an email to another of my addresses and immediately got the response that the message couldn't be sent as the recipient was rejected and the message had been placed in my Outbox. I followed the above steps and immediately heard the satisfying "whoosh" as my mail was sent. 10 seconds later another satisying beep as my e mail arrived at my alternate account.
Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.

MY SOLUTION REPOSTED FROM ANOTHER THREAD:
I've just solved a similar issue.
I have a dedicated server running Plesk 9.5 and when I upgraded to iLife 11 and Snow Leopard this error appeared. I could quickly click "get mail" and I'd get all my mail, but only 3-4 of my 9 mail accounts would connect. Theo others would have the error:
"The server error encountered was: The attempt to read data from the server..."
I found solutions for those using IMAP mail:
modify the /etc/courier-imap/imapd configuration file and change MAXDAEMONS from 40 to 80 and MAXPERIP from 4 to 40. This allows all the machines behind my home firewall to connect to multiple accounts on the e-mail server with mailbox caching enabled.
I'd made this change on my server but it didn't seem to have any effect. It dawned on me that I'm using POP, not IMAP. So I found in /etc/courier-imap/pop3d the same settings. I changed the MAXDAEMONS from 40 to 80 and MAXPERIP from 4 to 40 and voila, all my connections concurrently worked.
This has taken me more than two days to fix and I hope posting this helps someone else with the same issue.

• Error Assigning SID-cannot load data in ods

Hi
I have data in ODS coming from R/3.
Uptil today data was loading and working fine.
When i tried to load the data today, i am getting an error. Data is in PSA
Data is also seems to be in ods, because the request is in red color, but reporting icon is still available.
and Datamart status is empty.
I checked the call log and found the following error.
Overview of Call log is as follows
Activation of Data
SID Generation
Data package 3 : Error when assigning SID: Action VAL_SID_CONVERT InfoObject 0DATEFROM
Value '01012009' of characteristic 0DATE is not plausible
Data package 6: Error when assigning SID: Action VAL_SID_CONVERT InfoObject 0DATETO
Value '31122009' of characteristic 0DATE is not plausible 1
Rest all packages for the various infoobjects are loaded successfully
I think there is a problem in data, but i dont know how to resolve the issue
please help
Regards

Hi,
The problem that you are facing is that your format is YYYYMMDD and you are trying to load data in format DDMMYYYY.
The error is the current request, you dont need to touch anything else. As i said earlier, goto the RSMO transaction, find your failed load. Click on it. On the right side of your screen, you will get the individual monitor, which has a status tab. On this tab, there would be a button which says error message. Click on it.
It will give you several messages. If you scroll to the right, there would be a ? symbol for long text. Click on it.
This will give you further info. One of these messages will have the record no and package no. You need to check all messages. Then go to your PSA, to the same package and record and check the date format
Another way is to goto SE16-> find the active table of your DSO, it will be named as /BIC/A<DSO NAME>40
Search the respective date field for the value thrown in the error, or you can use the record no obtained from above to find the value. Find the key fields and note them down.
You then need to delete the incorrect request from your DSO. You can then correct the incorrect record in your PSA ,using the key fields, save and reconstruct this request.
Hope this helps.
Regards.

• On the 6 Plus, I can receive email, but unable to send email. Error message is "Cannot Send Mail. The connection to the outgoing server...failed."

I have tried everything. Any ideas?

If you truly tried everything there is no hope of ever making it work. But perhaps you missed something, so here are a few things (and if you've tried them...)
Reboot the phone by holding the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears
Go to Settings/Mail,contacts,calendars, tap on a mail account. Make sure there's an entry for SMTP or Outgoing mail server (You may need to tap on Account to see the entry)
Tap on SMTP and make sure you have entered your email name and password (even if it says "optional")
If there's more than one server listed make sure the appropriate one for that account is the primary
If all of the above is correct delete the account, reboot the phone, and add the account back

Hi and thanks again for trying to help.
Definitely works ok from pc.
Have deleted and re-established account a few times now but still the same.
I have actually given up and added gmail account which is working fine.
Sends and receives no problem.
Bloody bigpond....
We are not remote at all. Sitting in the fantastic Pavilion Hotel in Phnom Penh. Another couple here having trouble but not bigpond. Hotel staff have tried to help but to no avail.
Giving up and stick with gmail until we get home then start trying to get resolution.
Problem actually existed on a personal wi fi network in Melbourne before we left so I should have tried to resolve it then.
Thanks again for suggestions.

So it's the unloading from memory of the database that causes the problem, yes?
Have you tried:
1) Unloading other databases -- just interactively, without the kill and logout commands? Do they error?
2) Getting on the system at a quiet time and trying to unload the app/db?
3) Trying to stop a different database after the kill and logout?
4) Running a validate (whatever it's called in MaxL) on the db in question?
My guess is that it's either a corrupt db or a corrupt essbase.sec (yeah, I know, not overly helpful) -- the above steps should help you determine which is the bad actor.
Keep the board posted.
Good luck,
Cameron Lackpour
