Planning run with NETPL

Hello Friends,
I am using NETPL planning run and planning horizon is 3 months. I have a material for which requirement exists in Oct 2011.
When I saw the planning file entry I saw only NETCH is ticked and not NETPL. Till this point is okay.
But when I execute the MD03 with NETPL, system is creating purchase requisition for this requirement.Actually system should not have created the PR. I can understand the system creating the PR with NETCH. Please explaing why this is happening.
Thanks,
PL

Dear ,
Fundamentally , if you are using NETPL in MD03/MD02/MD01 , then any requirement with thin 3 months of Planning horizon should be planned only and will not cosider the requiirement beyond PH.
Please check the following :
1.Check in OMDX-What is the Planning Horizon ?
2.Did you maintain MRP group  in  MMR -MM02-MRP1 view ??  If you are using MRP group and defined a Planning Horizon for this MRP group, then the priority will be for the Planning Horizon pertaining to MRP group rather than the Planning Horizon pertaining to Plant.Just check the planning file entries. I think these materials must be having planning file entry with NETCH so it will not consider the total planning horizon even kept in OMDX.
3.What is the Re-scheudling Hozon kept in OPPQ-Define Carry all over all plant parameters?? Did you select Create Purchase Req Indicator as 2 OR 1 ??   Please refer this thread : MRP run creating extra proposals
4.Compare the Factory Calander set up with holidays for that particualr Planning Hozon period  in work days .Even it is not that important .
I suspect the NETCH in planning file entery where as you r planning with NETPL.
Check all those points  and come back .

  • Regenerative planning run in APO

    Hi experts,
I need your input on the following scenario.
We have APO PPDS implemented for our Manufacturing industry client. We have designed to run only Net Change Planning every day and there is no design to run Regenerative Planning.
What is the importance of running Regenerative Planning? What do we lose if we don't run a regenerative planning?
We have CTP scenario, so there are lot of parts planned automatically.
Is there any impact of automatic planning on Regenerative planning and vice versa?
What is the best practice to follow with respect to Regenerative Planning?
I appreciate if someone could answer these questions. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Manimaran M.

    Hello Mani
Following are details are from old SAP Handbook,  good information to understand the concept.
    ====
    Net Change Planning
Automatic material requirements planning is especially hard on system performance for production processes with complicated BOM structures. To guarantee frequent planning runs of those materials which are relevant for planning despite this problem, you can carry out the planning run with the "net change planning" procedure. This process only plans those materials which have undergone a change relevant to material requirements planning (for example, change in a production order due to excessive scrap, a new sales order, and so on) since the last planning run.
The so-called planning file exists especially for the planning run and contains all the materials and their respective MRP types. If a material is changed in a way that is relevant to the planning run, it is given a net change indicator meaning that it will be included in the next net change planning run. In a net change planning run, only these materials are planned.
Net Change Planning in the Planning Horizon
Performance can be improved even further by using the net change planning run in the planning horizon.  Here, only those changes relevant to requirements planning that fall within a specific period (defined by the user and known as the planning horizon) are included in the planning run. It is advisable in this situation to carry out a total planning run in regular intervals (for example, weekly or monthly) to keep the planning results completely up-to-date.
    Regenerative Planning
It is also possible to carry out a regenerative planning run. In this planning run, the system plans all materials that are relevant for planning. Usually, the regenerative planning run is only carried out in the implementation stages.

  • Planning Run - Enhanced Backward Scheduling Error

    Hi SAP Expert,
I encountered planning run error "Heuristic terminated due to a possible endless loop" after I run the planning run via transaction /SAPAPO/CDPSB0 - Production Planning Run with heuristic "Enhanced Backward Scheduling".
Do anyone have any idea on it?

  • Problem when creating planned order with MRP run

    Hello,
I create a material with a fix reorder point, MRP type VB. When I run MRP with MD03 on this material I have several problems :
    - planned order is created with an opening date in the past, so I have error 'Opening date in the past' in MD04. How can I generate a planned order with opening date not in the past
    - when changing manually opening date, after running again MD03, I have error 'No BOM selected'. Material is configurable, has a text BOM, a routing and a configuration profile. What is the problem? When modifying planned order, I have message :
    Material requires configuration
    Message no. 61259
    Diagnosis
Orders and requirements for a configurable material must have characteristic values.
Usually, you should create a variation for configurable materials managed in inventory management which has the default variant configuration.
    System Response
MRP: Requirements without characteristic values for a material cannot be planned in MRP.
    Procedure
    Check requirements or orders.
Create a configuration evaluation for the material in the material master record if necessary.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi
I am facing the problem. Could you please tell me if you have resolved the above problem? If yes, Could you please provide me as how you resolved? Thanks in advance.
    Thanks

  • What causes ad-hoc to run with bad plan and its resolution

One of our Company Application funcnalities uses the ad-hoc query that returns top first row from the result sets .There has been several times since this ad-hoc query ran with a bad
execution in last 8 months .There is no specifice time and date or day when this query run with bad execution plan ,however whenever this query ran with a bad execution plan on SQL ,that happed always early in the morning , before 6am .The setting of database
parameterization is set to forced .There is SQL maintenance reindexing job that runs each night at 2am that changes the recovedry model of our production database from Full to simple and changing back from simple to full after the reindexing operation .That
causes the SQL plans to flush each night .The next day morning , when the application ad-hoc query runs on SQL first time , SQL generates a new plan for that query . Some strange reason , SQL genarates a good plan for that ad-hoc query most of the times ,but
sometime this query picks up a bad plan .Whenever it happen, the application function becomes exetremly slow and it seems that the rest of the fuctionalities work fine meantime .
Our application vender is aware of this issue and this issue will be fixed in the application next release .Developer is converting the ad-hoc query into stored procedure to fix this
issue .Application new relase will not available for next 2-3 months ,meantime we still have to deal with the ad-hoc query bad execution plan issue . Usually ,when the ad-hoc query run with the bad execution plan , I retrieve the query bad plan and just remove
the plan for that particular query from cache .Once the bad plan is removed from cache , the perfomance gets back to normal .
As my understanding, this issue is related to parameter sniffing .but anyone thinks there are other factors responsible for this issue such as the network problem , the resource intensive
report ran or something else .
Has anyone have step by step troubleshooting steps that could help me with my investigation and what areas
do I need to look into in order to investigate what could caused the ad-hoc query to pick up bad plan ?
Any help will be apprecited .
    Daizy

When we upgraded our Production Database to SQL server 2008R2 enterprise Edition. We ran into the transaction log file to grow too large during the reindexing job activities at night .To prevent the transaction log file to grow big , we had decided to change
the recovery model of database from FULL to Simple before the reindexing job starts and the recovery model of Database is changed from Simple to Full after the reindexing job finishes . We also have the differential backup job setup right after the recovery
model change back to full so the transaction log backup chain does not break.
The transaction log chain breaks when you set the recovery to simple.
Yes, if you take a diff backup, you can apply transaction logs from that point
if the diff backup is good. If the diff backup is bad, you will lose all updates after you set recovery to simple. And, yes, when you hardware starts to deteoriate, you should not be surprise that the last backup is not good.
Again, please stop setting recovery to simple, unless you have a very relaxed RPO in your SLA. Use bulk-logged recovery instead.
By the way, you do take a t-log backup before you change the recovery mode, don't you?
Changing the database recovery model does flush the SQL plans for specific Database. Please review this linkhttp://sqlblogcasts.com/blogs/steveh/archive/2010/09/02/changing-recovery-model-removes-plans-from-procedure-cache-for-a-database.aspx
Hmmm. I don't have the time to verify this right now. Anyway, reindexing is good enough to flush the cache of most plans.
I have pretty much all required info regarding this query , but what other areas or investigation do I need to do for the query parameter sniffing issue ?
Have you researched what values the initial plan is sniffed for?
As Erland said  adding space in query ,I don?t know adding space means just add additional space in the query so it hashes a different values .Please advice .
Obviously, you need access to the application code. The other alternative is to set up an early morning job that runs after this first execution and which forces a recompilation; either by evicting this specific plan or more brutally runs sp_recompile on
one of the tables in the query.

  • MRP run with MDBT

    Hi all,
    I'm facing a typcial problem
In MDBT -processing key is maintained as NETPL
    There are 3 materials say
    1.A
    2.B
    3.C
For all three materials NETCH is marked in the planning file entry & NETPL is blank in MD21
When i go for MRP run via MDBT then no proposal is raised for A & B,where as for C i'm getting a proposal
All three has requirement -Exected result is Planned order
Initially i thought NETPL is not active in MD21 & that is the reason i'm not getting any proposal
but i'm shocked to see proposal for material C
MRP is run with processing NETPL
Will the material marked for NETCH also be included in the run or only those materials which are marked for NETPL only will be included ?
If yes for 1st question then i feel there is a logical difference
If yes for 2nd question then why should i get proposal for material C?
    Please clarify me

    Guys pls respond

    Hi Vishal,
Thanks for pointing out user exit key,i didnt noticed that,In one the variants user exit key is maintained ,MRP controller selection (CTL)
& user exit paramter also is maintained as 100 in one variant & in another as 001-099,101-500
How is this normally defined? What doen tis mean
In first case(100) does it mean that run only for thos matrials which have MRP controller as "100"
In second case rund for all materials with MRp controller (001-0990 & 101 to 500 I'm not usre on this
If yes pls let me know where we define this whole thing
Like MRP controller selection is defined as CTL -but what does it mean, where are the actual conidtions written
Very basic question may be but i'm not aware fo this, pls let me know
Once again thanks a lot for giving the lead

  • Currency Translation in Planning sequence with variable for target currency

    Hello ,
i have a requirement, the cube contains multiple data in the Group Currency for multiple company codes. & I want to convert these amounts to another KF as local currency using planning sequence only (not using transformation, as the users want to do this when they require.)
For this, i defined a Aggr level , filter & Planning function with Currency translation selecting the source field as AMOUNT_GC & target field as AMOUNT_LC using the Currency Translation type ZCTGCLC.
The target currency is not know beforehand, as it depends on the company code of each records that comes in.
Hence, Currency translation type uses  a Customer exit variable 'Z_R_0026' for target currency.
This is customer exit variable which searches the Master data table of the Company code & replies back with the local currency of that particular company code (derived value from the company code variable also in teh filter).
However, when i execute this planning sequence, it gives me an error saying, "no value found for variable 'Z_R_0026'
    1. when edit the CMOD code, to return only say "EUR" the planning sequence runs fine. However when i use this select statement to fetch the corresponding value of the currency using the company code reference from the company code master data table, it gives the above error. it seems to be a problem with the select statement.
below is the code for that exit
    when 'Z_R_0026'.
         data: l_curr type /BI0/OICURRENCY.
         IF i_step = 2.
           LOOP AT i_t_var_range INTO loc_var_range
WHERE vnam = 'Z_S_0003'. " Company Code Single
             CLEAR l_s_range.
Filling Currency Key from Company Code
             select single currency
             from /bi0/pcomp_code
             into l_curr
             where comp_code = loc_var_range-low
             and objvers = 'A'.
             if sy-subrc = 0.
               l_s_range-low = l_curr.
             else.
               l_s_range-low      = 'ABC'.
             endif.
             l_s_range-opt      = 'EQ'.
             l_s_range-sign     = 'I'.
             APPEND l_s_range TO e_t_range.
             clear l_s_range.
             EXIT.
           ENDLOOP.
         ENDIF.
    2. there is a option of using infoobject for target currency in the RSCUR itself, however, when i try to input the 0COMP_CODE for finding the attribute currency from this infoobject, it doesnt accept.
has anyone tried this earlier ?
    Any help/suggestions , guys, pls?
    Thanks
    John

    Hi Praveen ,
    Thanks for that.
    I have a Question.
If RSCUR were to only accept a Date InfoObject , it would be placed under a differnt heading.
The Tab is "Currrency"  & the sub-Tab is "Target Currency"
so i guess, it should accept other infoObjects as well.
Moreover, the help on that InfoObject buttons says
"Specification of an InfoObject (Characteristic) in which a currency
attribute is stored in InfoObject maintenance. At runtime, the
associated currency attribute is determined using the characteristic
value and this is interpreted as source or target currency."
& i have already defined 0currency as a attribute of 0comp_code. so this should work ideally.
almost similiar CMOD code i have used for other too, but i dont know why only this one is getting struck.
    any help, pls.
    Thanks
    John

  • How to exclude Sales Orders from a planning run

    Hi,
I run MD02 and i discover that planned orders are being created as procurement proposals for sales orders and the planned independent requirement.
I want planned order to be created only for the Planned independent requirements ONLY.
Is there a way that sales orders can be excluded from the planning run?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

    Dear,
Check the requirement type of your sales order line item in VA02 procurement tab it should be Reqmt type of customer reqmt   KSL
Also check the strategy assign in material master and MRP group OPPR and then check the setting of strategy 10 in OPPS there should be
    Customer Requirement planning
Reqmt type of customer reqmt   KSL  Sale frm stck w/o ind.req.red.
Requirements class  030  Sale from stock
Allocation indicat.     No consumption with customer requirements
No MRP   :-               1 Requirement not planned, but display.
    Please try and come back.

  • Report for PO's/Pr's/Planned orders with exception code

    Hi all,
Is there any report which lists out Purchase Orders/Purchase requisitions/Planned orders for a specific exception message number?
For example when MRP is run some times the finish date for a planned order may be in past (exception message number 07). I would like to get a list of all the planned orders with exception message number 07. Similarly i would like to get PO's/PR's for a specific exception code.
    Any help is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Avani.

    Hi Neetha,
You can use the Collective access tab on the MD06 T-Code, don't enter a material number, only the plant number and MRP Controller number.  Then click on the tab marked Exception Groups, check box  number 7 and execute the report.  This will give you a list of all materials with exception group 7.  If you need it as a report. Once the report comes up you can click on MRP List on the tool bar at the top of the page and then click print.  This will format it so you can download it into excel by clicking on the Local File Button.  When the box comes up click on spreadsheet and save it to your hard drive as an excel spreadsheet.
Hope this is of some help to you.

  • MRP planning run

    Hi experts,
During MRP run for  a material ,  open PO quantity is not considered   If  delivery date mentioned in that open PO exceeds 110 days from planning date(MRP run date). If it is less , it considers open PO quantity.
What could be the reason for it? Pls help me out.
    Thanks in advance,
    Rgds,
    jay

The Planning Horizon entry for your plant must be 110 or more. Check it out in OMI8. Click on the 'Maintain' button after entering ur plant, click on 'Planning Horizon' to see the entry.
For open PO qty to be considered, try running MRP run with processing key as 'NETCH' in MD02 or whichever t-code u use this doesn't take planning horizon into account.

    OptimizeServer says  GOOD BYE
Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Khadar

    Hi Khadar,
    1) The information you have provided is the CTM optimiser log.
Run the job in background and in  sm37 and click on job log &
analyse the exact error happened.  In case if you are not able
to do, please provide the error log.
    2) Check the livecache is stable in its operations when the job
    runs (check with basis team)
    3) Run consistency check for master data before CTM run
    4) Check for any struck queues and clear those and rerun
    5) If you feel more inconsistencies in system, run livecache
    consistency and rerun CTM run
    Regards
    R. Senthil Mareeswaran.

  • No Planning happening with scope of Planning for total Planning

    Hi SAP Gurus,
The Scenario is for Consumption based planning and MRP run.
I have created a  New Entry under Scope of Planning for total Planning run and entered the required two plants under sequence of Plants.
I have also entered manually consumption values for trial materials in those two Plants. I maintained MRP and Forecast View.
I then ran MD01 using the Scope of Planning created. But when I check the MD04 results for trial materials, no Planning has happened.
I shows a message  "Pl carry out Forecast for material xxx in Plant xxx "
Then using T.Code- OMDO, I created a variant for each Plant and also Scheduled. But after then also with MD01, No planning is happening.
When I check under T.Code - OMDU, the respective Plants were activated
Pl guide me the steps for Creating of Scope of Planning and then how to set up planning file and what could be the reason materials are not getting Planned.
    thanks and regards,
    R.Velmurugan.

    Dear Mariano,
MRP type VV (forecast based Planning) is used for these materials.
I defined Scope of Planning for Total planning and included Plants in sequence.
Then I created new Variants for Planning file entries for these Plants (T.Code - OMDO).
Then I created new Variants for Planning file entry consistency for these Plants  (T.Code - MDRE)
After then I executed Mass Forecast (T.Code - MP38) and then carried out total planning run using T.Code - MD01.
Now the materials are getting planned.
    I missed Forecast run earlier.
I found the reason for the problem, hence closing the thread.
Thanks to Mariano and Daniele for your inputs.
    Regards,
    R.Velmurugan

  • Error Mrp: Total Planning Run stopped due to 25 Terminations of 202 Matls

    Hi
We are trying to run the Mrp Job I.e  steps (RMMRP00) with variant PLVH_NETCHNG)..
I have 1 db server and 2 apps servers and it the starts to run for about 2 minutes and then  crashes with the ffg error:
Total Planning Run stopped due to 25 Terminations (dumps)of 202 Matls.
Apps Guys  says its a basis issue and i cant see an issue.
    ANy help will be appreciated

    Hi,
Please check the MRP setting some times we define mrp value upto 3-4 decimal and our setting upto 2 decimal points. If you send error log then that will be helpful for us to see the exact problem in the dump.
In case you want to send this by mail send [email protected]

  • Query takes longer to run with indexes.

Here is my situation. I had a query which I use to run in Production (oracle 9.2.0.5) and Reporting database (9.2.0.3). The time taken to run in both databases was almost the same until 2 months ago which was about 2 minutes. Now in production the query does not run at all where as in Reporting it continues to run in about 2 minutes. Some of the things I obsevred in P are 1) the optimizer_index_cost_adj parameter was changed to 20 from 100 in order to improve the performance of a paycalc program about 3 months ago. Even with this parameter being set to 20, the query use to run in 2 minutes until 2 months ago. in the last two months the GL table increased in size from 25 million rows to 27 million rows. With optimizer_index_cost_adj of 20 and Gl table of 25 million rows it runs fine, but with 27 million rows it does not run at all. If I change the value of optimizer_index_cost_adj to 100 then the query runs with 27 million rows in 2 minutes and I found that it uses full table scan. In Reporting database it always used full table sacn as found thru explain plan. CBO determines which scan is best and it uses that. So my question is that by making optimizer_index_cost_adj = 20, does oracle forces it to use index scan when the table size is 27 million rows? Isn't the index scan is not faster than full table scan? In what situation the full table scan is faster than index scan? If I drop all the indexes on the GL table then the query runs faster in production as it uses full table scan. What is the real benefit of changing optimizer_index_cost_adj values? Any input is most welcome.

Isn't the index scan is not faster than full table scan? In what situation the full table scan is faster than index scan? No. It is not about which one is the "+fastest+" as that concept is flawed. How can an index be "faster" than a table for example? Does it have better tires and shinier paint job? ;-)
It is about the amount of I/O that the database needs to perform in order to use that object's contents for resolving/executing that applicable SQL statement.
If the CBO determines that it needs a 100 widgets worth of I/O to scan the index, and then another 100 widgets of I/O to scan the table, it may decide to not use the index at all, as a full table scan will cost only a 180 I/O widgets - 20 less than the combined scanning of index and table.
Also, a full scan can make use of multi-block reads - and this, on most storage/file systems, is faster than single block reads.
So no - a full table scan is NOT a Bad Thing (tm) and not an indicator of a problem. The thing that is of concern is the amount of I/O. The more I/O, the slower the operation. So obviously, we want to make sure that we design SQL that requires the minimal amount of I/O, design a database that support minimal I/O to find the required data (using clusters/partitions/IOTs/indexes/etc), and then check that the CBO also follows suit (which can be the complex bit).
But before questioning the CBO, first question your code and design - and whether or not they provide the optimal (smallest) I/O footprint for the job at hand.
