Planning Security Issue

Hi,
I'm having issue with planning security on 11.1. I have a production planning app and a training app. The training app is a copy of the production app. I migrate security from the production app to the training app. the issue is that we have users that log on to the training app all the webform they are read only but if they log on to the production app they have write access. I'm not sure why this is the case. both app are identical.

Have you checked all the security has migrated successfully.
Have you check that the scenarios have the same start/end months/years between apps.
I would assume there must be something slightly different between the environments.

Security Issue in Planning. Unable to write to particular Year member

Hello Everyone,
I am currently facing a strange security issue in our PRD environment. I am unable to lock and send any data or punch the data in directly through a dataform for a particular Year, Scenario and Version combination. I have all the write access set up on these dimensions directly from planning interface and configured myself as Admin through Shared services.
Dimensions are as follows:
Year
-FY11
-FY12
-FY13
Scenario
-Forecast
Version
-Working
I can key in the data for FY11+Forecast+Working BUT all the cells in the dataform appear to be green for below combination:
FY12+Forecast+Working and FY13+Forecast+Working
I am not sure whats happening here as I have right security setup and Forecast is setup correctly too, from FY11 to FY13 for all the months(Jan:Dec).

Hi John,
Yes the months are setup correctly. I resolved the issue. We had a replicated partition connected to it, which pushes data to my application for FY12 and FY13. The partition needed to be dropped. Now I can see the cells in yellow.

Using latest version of fireFox to access Think Central, pages will not load and they say that this is a security issue with FireFox?

Teachers in our district are supposed to use www.thinkcentral.com with FireFox.
Some have no problem accessing the lesson plans.
Most when they login click on a lesson plan and an icon shows up that says loading but never does.
If you reboot the computer and login you can open a page once but not a second time and no other lessons will open.
Think Central support says this is a security issue with Firefox.
I have updated FireFox, all the Adobe, Reader, Flash, Air and Shockwave. As well as Java.
I have allowed the pop ups to the think Central web site.
Any help would be appreciated

Are there any notification icons on the left end of the address bar? If so, please click them to see whether they related to security issues (such as blocked content - shield icon: [[How does content that isn't secure affect my safety?]]) or a plugin requiring permission (Lego-like icon).
Does Think Central have any help pages about this issue? Without an account, it is difficult to explore the issue first-hand.

Security issue with connecting to Microsoft Live

I currently use StudioCloud for my studio management software. However, I'm unable to use the email features of the software as they state "**Adobe Air has a security issue connecting to Windows Live and, as such, StudioCloud can not work with Windows Live/Hotmail at this time.**" (http://app1.studiocloud.com/support/index.php?/article/AA-00265/0).
Are there any plans on resolving this issue?
As a small business owner, I need to streamline my processes. If there is a possibilty of this being fixed in the near future, then I won't look at other options, but if it isn't, then I need to determine if I will be moving my email to another host, or using a different studio managment software, or finding a different method of handing my email communications with my clients which is efficient and meets my needs.

SSRS (Security) issues in Firefox and Chrome

in both browsers the layout is a mess to start with.
Biggest problem in both cases is: The detailView button is vissible even if your not admin.
So when ppl click this they are able to see/modify datacources and see hidden directories and stuff. I havent checked if they can really change stuff but it seems to me that its not what we want. If you are not admin you shouldnt see the DetailView button
at all.
1 other thing that doesnt work in Chrome. The report itself. you can fill in parameters but the report itself wont show up. but thats a minor problem.

Which version of Reporting Services are you running?

SSRS works best on Internet Explorer. If you use other browsers, something may not be displayed correctly.

Journaling and Security Issues

I am adding a 750GB external HD to my system as a scratch disc and as a backup for my files. I plan to use PGP to protect sensitive data on the drive. If I enable journaling, won't this create a copy of the data that is not protected? Is it best to keep journaling off to protect sensitive files?
And, if journaling is enabled, how large is the journal and how long does the data remain in the journal? Is there any way to wipe that data after a while or is it constantly replaced with new data?
Finally, is it more likely that a drive will fail without journaling turned on as implied by some of the Apple documentation?

Depending on what program you are using, in most cases the performance will be better leaving the scratch space on the internal drive.
That's not quite how Journaling works. It's not a backup of files but rather a log of changes made to the volume directory. This is how Apple explains it: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107249
No. Journaling shouldn't have any affect on a drives physical attributes but it does help prevent directory corruption.
Now Time Machine on the other hand does pose a security issue.

Planning Security Filter refresh and Essbase is Crashing

Hi,
I am on System 9.3.1 and I am doing a Planning security filter refresh and Essbase is Crashing. Please advise in this case.
Security is fine on this cube. It used to work fine earlier. Now from few days we are facing this issue.

We see same issue in 9.2.0.3, but only with 1 of our 5 applications. Was never able to get support to identify a cause, our resolution is to push users in small groups and save the essbase.sec file. Real pain. You could try stopping essbase service, using essbase.bak file and restarting then try to push and see if it works. I did identify issues with our openLDAP which I felt was the cause, I was able to clean it up in TEST and it works, but did same in Prod and worked once, then reverted back to crashing again, unless we push users in really small groups. Interested to see if you get a 'fix' from someone...

Forest trust - security issues and how to avoid

Hi guys,
I have few questions.
1/Planning do Forest trust.We have Forest + Domain functional level at WS 2003 level.
In case of trust what are the security issues and how to avoid them? Meant something like browsing in AD, possible hacking from new destination etc.
2/ What in case that the trust will not be possible create because of security reasons (rejected by other company)? What can be an workaround for that? I have idea with resource forest or ADFS? Any other ideas?

Other than broad general answers it is difficult to answer this from the negative side. I work in a very large company where we have hundreds of domains with one way trusts in place and I don't believe we have any security issues in place. With
the large numbers of domains we can't operate in any other fashion. We have a user forest and many resource forests. All of our domains and forests are operated and maintained within the company but if you have domains operated by different departments
then you can run into issues on who trusts. Also if you need to have a situation where you need to trust other companies then you start to look at ADFS, you can also use it internally for many applications as well as cloud services. But as I already
mentioned you haven't detailed what exactly is going on so it is hard to try and give you a concrete answer.

I updated some security issues and suddenlly my gmail does not open. it shows 75% of the procees and does not go on

Other web browsers and security issues?

Since even an Apple KB article recognizes the need for an additional browser and because of Safari's limitations and problems, I'm going to try switching to another browser (most likely OmniWeb and am looking at Firefox, Shira and Opera also though perhaps not as a primary browser) but I'm wondering about their ability to keep on top of any security issues for Mac? (and how do you keep up with security updates?)
Though perhaps unfounded, at least with Safari, I feel that Apple has a vested interest in keeping on top of security issues (for Safari and Java) and I can readily find out about security updates via software updater.

Most of the other Mac browsers have their adherents. They are all good browsers (I have 7 browsers installed to test various web sites and for change-of-pace usage). They all have their strengths and they all have their weaknesses. Only iCab and OmniWeb are still shareware, the rest are now or always have been free (Opera just recently stopped charging for its browser).
I have settled on Firefox as my alternate browser and I use it maybe just a tad more than Safari, but I do switch back and forth between them. The Mozilla foundation is good at getting security updates out when needed. Firefox has a button on the toolbar to check for updates. One nice thing about Firefox is that you can install free extensions which enhance the features available. I have one to supplement tab features, one to control iTunes from Firefox's status bar, one to help me format messages in discussion forums, and one to block ads.
I prefer OmniWeb for doing intensive research because of the way it handles tabs in its sidebar, showing me which ones I've looked at and which ones I haven't, and giving me great flexibility in rearranging tabs, which are viewable as thumbnails or text names (I have had up to a hundred or so tabs open in OmniWeb.
Shiira is good and its fast. I have not checked for updates for a while, but the last time I updated there was still a problem with Shiira kicking you out of logged-in sites when you moved from page to page with in web site. This may have been fixed by now - they were aware of the problem back then.
Camino is a native OS X cousin of Firefox and is also fast, but is not updated as often.
I would stay away from Mozilla or Netscape unless you need all the additional modules they have and which take up hard disk space. Firefox and Camino represent the browser module of Mozilla/Netscape. Mozilla and Netscape have modules for email, irc chat, newsgroups, and for creating and editing web pages. Netscape is a branded and slightly customized version of Mozilla and is not updated as often.
Opera is a nice browser and some use it as their main browser, but I have not seen anything that really stands out for me, but that does not mean it is not worth a look.
I would stay away from abandonware Internet Explorer.
As for checking for updates, several of them, as with many Mac programs, now have a menu item that allows you to check for updates. Most of them also announce their updates on both VersionTracker and MacUpdate.

Yes, otherwise you will have to pay for those apps again. If an app is purchased by one Apple ID, he/she will be able to redownload it again for no cost (note: this does apply to songs, but NOT to movies).

Security Issue with Apple ID

Today while using my iphone and trying to use facetime for the first time since updating to IOS6, my phone asked me if I wanted to use some email address that I do not have for facetime. What? The message pretty much said that this email address was linked to my apple ID. So I got to work logged into AppleID.Apple.com and saw the email address verified and also saw it displayed as an alternate apple id. Immediately, I changed my Apple ID password and called apple at 1800myapple since that is the number on the website and try to talk to someone that could assist me with this severe issue. Anyway, my iphone went dead and the people on the phone couldn't connect me to anyone because I couldn't give them a serial number to an apple device. I tried to explain to the technicians that this is a problem with my ID and that the alternate ID has access to everything that my Apple ID has access to. Both times the call went nowhere. This is ridiculous. Why can't I talk to a security team? Why is the technician telling me that I can manage my ID from the website, when I know that I am looking at the website and I cannot remove the alternate ID? How did this ID get associated with my account and why did I never receive an email informing me of the change?
Since Apple has other services and not just products STOP ASKING FOR A SERIAL NUMBER AND ASSIST THE CUSTOMER WITH THE ISSUE especially since it is a SECURITY ISSUE.

oh man, I know exactly what you're talking about. i have a relatively easy to guess apple id email and everybody in the world thinks it's theirs... but once I turned on two-step authentication, the emails stopped completely. here's a faq about it:

once i turned that on, whenever they'd want to reset my password, they would get asked for my recovery key, which they don't have, haha! victory is mine.

Autometic planning security refresh is not refreshing the security filters

Hi Friends,
We are using Hyperion planning system 9.3.1. While refreshing the planning security through automated script its not getting refreshed the security filters. In log its showing filter refreshed successfully but actually it’s not refreshing the filters. But when we are doing it manually from planning web its working fine. One more thing we are doing security refresh on daily basic as per business request. So daily its dropping the filters we refreshed manually from planning web.
we are using the below scripts:
CALL G:\Hyperion\Planning\bin\CubeRefresh.cmd /A:application_name /U:user_name /P:password /R /FSV /DEBUG >> In\Log\Refresh_HPOPROD.log

Why would you make a new account? This will likely cause many problems. Just get you old account enabled.

Everything you purchased with the old account will always be tied to that account. You will have to authorize the computer for that account and you will have to update the apps from that account.
