I have used Planning sequence in process chain, But while executing it, it throws a following message
"Inconsistent input parameter (parameter: <unknown>, value <unknown>)""

Hi,
we use BI IP and have defined a process chain (RSPC) with value type process planning sequence. When we execute it, we get error message
"Inconsistent input parameter (parameter: <unknown>, value <unknown>)"
When we execute this planning sequence via the modeller or via SE38 RSPLS_PLSEQ_EXECUTE everything works fine. I thougt the cause could be the user of the job itself (job is executed with different user, and variant of planning sequence is user-dependent!), but I changed the user in the job itself as well without results.
any thoughts?

Hi,
I executed with my user and have a SAP_ALL authorization. Perhaps it could be because we use authorisation with the old method (4.0) (-> I'm not sure on this). I also think it has to do with authorization. I'll check this out with our authorization consultant.

IP: Error in packaged planning sequence in process chain

Hi all,
We run a planning sequence from within a process chain. As the data transferred are quite a lot, we have packaged with setting "automatically" and with 30 packages to be built. Now the function returned (it ran already successfully before!) an error message stating:
Master cannot read return value from subprocess 2
and another error:
An error occurred with the maintenance of the query directory.
Do you have any idea what this could be?

Hi Rakesh,
It's a BASIS problem. After transport during process chain activation, the background user tries to logon with the password and if it fails the chain will not be activated. The contents will be transported though. You can manually activate the chain. You can request the Basis guys to fix this.

I have 6 ODSes. I load these on a daily basis with 6 different flat files. ODS1, ODS2 and ODS3 needs to be loaded first before ODS4, ODS5, ODS6.
Once all six ODSes are loaded, they are then aggregated based on some two key fields to and loaded into a cube. Npw I want to automate the process.
Can you please check if my plan for the process chain is right:
1. Start Process:
direct Scheduling
Change Selections:
Start date & Time
Period Jobs: check
Periodic Values: Daily
Restrictions: Always execute job
2. Indexes:(this flows into the first 3 ODSes)
Delete indexes
3. Load Data:
Load Data ODS1
Load Data ODS2
Load Data ODS3
4. Activate ODS1
5. Activate ODS2
6. Activate ODS3
(? What do I setup here so that the following will be loaded only if ODS1, ODS2 and ODS3 are successful)
7.Load Data
Load Data ODS4
Load Data ODS5
Load Data ODS6
8.Delete Indexes
9. Load Data
Load data from ODS1, ODS2, ODS3, ODS4, ODS5, ODS6 to the CUBE
10.Activate Cube (?Needs to activate cube? Is there a process type like that of activate ODS)
11. Create Index (Hm, will the Delete and create indexes in this plan take apply to both ODS and Cube)

2. Load the data to ODS in parallel (ODS1 , ODS2 & ODS 3)
3. Activate the three ODS , with separate ODS activation process type.
4.Put an AND condition
5. load data to ODS4 ,5 and 6
6. Activate ods4 ,5, & 6.
7. delete index for cube
8. load different data from ods to cube
9. create index.
                start
load ODS1 -- Load oDS2 -- Load ods 3
Activate ODS1 - Activate oDS2 - Activate ODS3
                 AND (process)
Load oDS4      load ods5    load ODS 6
Activate oDS4 Activate ODS5 Activate ODS 6
                 AND
          Delete the index
           Load data from different ODS to cube
            Create Index
   there is no concept of activating the cube .. it is only applicable to ods.

Error in Step Copy Plan version in Process Chain

Hi all,
We have step in Process Chain called 'Copy Plan version'.This stet is getting failed quite frequently. I just repeat it and the error is getting solved. I just wanted to know that is there any permanent solution for that. We cant afford to getting it failed that frequently.
I dont have any idea about this step. Can you please provide me information about this step and a possible remedy aw well.
The error messaage is :
Selection accesses data that is currently locked; user
Job cancelled after system exception ERROR_MESSAGE.
Please suggest.

This is due to "Selection accesses data that is currently locked; user" , there is another process from another process chain which locked the object at the same time frame , so due to that this step is failing
you can increase waittime 30mins(example)before this Step Copy Plan version executes in the process chain.
OR, change the schedule time for this process chain

Error in execute planning sequence variant in process chain

While creating an Execute planning sequence variant in process chain in Quality system , i am getting an error" variable variant not selected ' though i created a variable variant and selected it in execute planning seq variant.
Transporting it from development system didnt work therefore i am trying to create it directly in Quality .
Any idea what could be the issue.

Variable variant can be saved for planning sequence in modeler and then cab be used in process chains.
In process chain you can choose "Execute planning sequence"( separate process type) and add planning sequence with variant.

Ope the PC in RSPC1 -->go to planning view of process chain
in left side you will find different types of process types.
under other BW process types folder -->you will find process type "Delete request from PSA"
drag this into your process chain planning view and customize it based on your requirements.

Process Chains - number of records loaded in various targets

Hello
I have been trying to figure to access the metadata on the process chain log to extract information on the number of records loaded in various targets(Cubes/ODS/Infoobjects).
I have seen a few tables like RSMONICTAB, RSPCPROCESSLOG and RSREQICODS through various threads posted, however I would like to know whether there is any data model ( relationship structure beween these and other std. tables) so that I could seamless traverse through them to get the information I need.
In traditional ETL tools I would approach the problem :
> Load a particular sequence(in our case = BW Process chain) name into the program
> Extract the start time and end time information.
> Tranverse through all the objects of the sequence(BW Process chain)
> Check if the object is a data target
> If yes scan through the logs to extract the number of records loaded.
could I have a list of similar tables which I could traverse through ABAP code to extract such information?

Creating process chains in production environment..

Hi,
We are planning to create process chains in our project , can we directly create process chains in the production environment? the data and the set up is very very small here so the number of chains and processess are very less , is it ok if we create the process chains in Production environemnt directly, or we need to create in development and transport it to production (note: there is no quality instance for BW in our project).

Best practice would be to create PC in DEV and move it to PRD .
Actually what happens in real time is sometimes your data mismatch happens or some other data loading activity you are doing in PRD system . So you need the freedom of creating DTP or Infopackage directly in PRD system . otherwise it would be a time consuming process to make it from DEV to PRD .
Similarly when you are Infopackages & DTPs in PRD environment, there is a chance that your process chain might also be changed . So yes we can create it in PRD system .

Process chains executing thesmelves upon transporting them

Hi,
We are implementing BI project. Unfortunately the process chains were left with the start variant set to 'start immediately' . Now with the transports being sent to next environment the process chains are executing by themseleves as soon as the transport carrying a process chain hits the next environment.
This means after every transport carring a process chain, we have to manually delete the data being loaded because of that process chain's execution, before moving the next set of transports through.
Can aybody please advise what could be a possible solution to this issue?
e.g. blocking the ALEREMOTE user from triggering the background jobs may be an option that works here but will it also cause any issues with the transport themselves and cause the transports to fail?
Any other suggestions are also most welcome

But my problem is that we already have the process chains on transports and when we import the transports in a sequence the process chains fire themselves as and when a transport that contains a process chain is imported into the next environment.
the problem thereafter is that unless we delete the data being loaded by the process chain there is a risk of remaining transports failing as these transports include changes to datasource/DSO/master data structures these objects have already been loaded with data from the earlier process chain execution.
So, we really need a way to stop the process chains from executing and loading the data unnecessarily, whenever a transport containing a process chain hits the next environment.

Using Planning Sequence in a Process Chain With input variants

Hi,
I have a COPY planning function which has multiple FROM and TO options like (From:Fiscal Year To Fiscal Year, From Version TO Version). In the layout they select the options for which they want to COPY and execute the function.
How can I replicate the same approach in a process chain with the varaints, how can i create the FROM and TO variables in the process chain.

You can save variable variant for planning sequence in modeler and then use it in process chain.
In process chain you choose "Execute planning sequence" and add planning sequence with variant.
All this if you using IP instead BPS.

When trying to run a planning sequence in a process chain (with the correct variable input variant) I receive the following error message:
Inconsistent input parameter (parameter: <unknown>, value <unknown>
When running this planning sequence in the modeler, it runs without errors.

2)Does the planning sequence which you are trying to execute in the process chain contains a planning function that is expecting some variables to be passed by the user?

How to use master locks in a process chain with planning sequence

when I start a process chain which contains a planning sequence there is no master lock set. The chain stops and I get the message "Data in InfoProvider XYZ is locked by user TIMMAY". What can i do to enable the master locks?

Hello,
When a planning sequence is triggered via process chain system first first tries to set a normal lock and if this is possible, these selections are stored as master locks and then the normal locks are released.
In your case if some data is already locked by another user the lock conflict will occur in teh first step only where system tries to create a normal lock before creating master locks.
If Administrator wants to trigger the process chain he should ask other users to come out of the planning layouts so that all the locks are released and then trigger the chain and after this the system will set the master locks. Packaging in planning sequence process type won't help in setting master locks even if the data is locked by other user.
Also, after master locks are deleted in RSPLSE, the transaction data remains protected by normal data locks during runtime. Nevertheless, without master locks it is no longer guaranteed that parts of planning sequences can be carried out without encountering lock conflicts with other users.
