Planning time fence vs total lead time

Hi Gurus,
we have a scenario like the below in the unconstrained plan. Trying to understand various dates on the PWB. could you please explain.
1. Item is a Make item and it's planning time fence attribute is set as Total Lead time.
2. Processing lead time of the item is 25 and fixed lead time is 2
3. ASCP is suggesting a planned order on PTF date which is exactly 25 days from now.
4. But the suggested start date of the order is only 2 days less than the suggested due date. This is the point we are not able to understand. We have set the processing lead time as 25 so, isn't the planned order not supposed to have the start date as today?
Thanks
Mahesh

Dear,
Please refer this link,
[Planning time Fence|Planning time fence]
For sales order will convert to a specific production order use CO08 here define order type as ZP04.
OPKP ( Production Scheduling Profile) whether ZP04 is assigned under Order Type or not.If not maintain the same and then assign the same Production Scheduling Profile in Material Master in Work Scheduling view.
Also in In OPPQ or OPPR you have to define order type as ZP04 under conversation indicator use when in MRP run MD50.
Please try and come back

  • Total Relenishment Lead Time vs. Routings Lead Time  ( very urgent)

    Hello PP Champs
    Need urgent help
I am facing a scenario in current project -
My Customer service quotes for delivery to an customer with in 3 days for a stock item by seeing the availability check with Total Replenishment Lead time in MAterial Master , but when production order is created SAP schedules the same on routing Lead time basis with a date after 7 days. this seems technically correct as per Std.SAP settings
1=but How to avoid this business conflict in SAP PP module?
2=another thing we are nt using the capacity planning with this client ,but incase we get 2-3 orders with same start date and same requirement date for a single work center " how to priortise the selection of production orders" w/o capacity planning
pl consider first query as most urgent and help me
Could somebody put a thought on this and help me out.. I'll reward full points any helping hand for the same
    Thx in advance
    BR
    Sumit

    Hi,
you can define via define  the checking scope opjj whether to include the RLT
    in availability check or not.
    Note:
Items for which the delivery date falls within the replenishment lead time, but for which there is no inventory, are confirmed for delivery after the replenishment lead time. In the case of items for which the delivery date falls after the end of the replenishment lead time, the system assumes that everything can be confirmed.
In the standard version, leave this field blank if you want the system to check the replenishment lead time.
    Dependencies
If you want the system to check the replenishment lead time, you should make sure that you have entered a value in at least one of the following three fields in the material master:
GR (goods receipt) processing time (Purchasing view)
Planned delivery time (MRP I view)
GR processing time (MRP II view)
Otherwise, the system confirms every requirement

  • PLANNING TIME FENCE and RELEASE TIME FENCE

Hi, I am on ver 11.5.10.5. We are using MDS and MRP here.
Trying to understand the right meaning of planning and release time fences , so that I can define the right time fences in the item attributes.
My cumulative manufacturing lead time for top assembly is 12 days. Should this be the planning time fence.(12) ?
Time taken to run MRP (1 hr) and manually release all planned orders to PO or WIP is 4 days. So should 4 days be the release time fence. Auto relase feature is not being used.
Am I on the right track here , or is the track totally missing?

    James,
The Planning Time Fence is the point that you want no new planned orders to be created prior to. In MRP this was based on the suggested dock date for (buy) orders and suggested due date for (make orders). Whatever you set the value to, no new planned orders will get created earlier than date.. even in an unconstrained plan
So as a practical point, how far ahead do you want to create your WIP jobs? If you are creating WIP jobs now for next week and your build LT is 5 days, you may want to be a user define value of at least 5 days. This would put the suggested due date of the planned order on day 6 (5days + today), the suggested start date would be today. You can also add a pre-processing lead time to make the suggested order date earlier and monitor that value. I would test these, understand the attributes and the resulting dates and determine the right value.
The Oracle ASCP User Guide has a good description of lead times that you should review on page 6-90. Most of this information is the same as old MRP, but some has changed. You can also review the inventory user guide to get a description of these attributes.
If auto release is not used, the auto-release item attribute is not used.

  • Planning time fence

    Dear Expert
I have mantained PPDS planning time fences in product master view as 5 days .And i have created sales order and i have triggered GATP  planned orders are generated . after saving sales order . I have triggered GATP again I am getting new planned order which should not happened  Because as per PPDS planning time fence planned order with in that period are fixed .they should not change
Please correct it If i am wrong

    HI  Marius
    It is good notes
But i am facing problem with my only finished material ,all my sub assembly materials are having fixed planned orders but finished material planned order is getting changed
I have assigned ppds planning time fence for 5 days
By F1 help i have got below note  it is creating little confusion
    Note
You can specify a time fence interactively in the product view. It may override the planning time fence in the following way:
If the time fence is after the end of the PP/DS planning time fence, planning is fixed until the time fence.
If the time fence is before the end of the PP/DS planning time fence, planning is fixed until the end of the planning time fence

  • Manufacturing Lead time, milestone operation wise

    Good Evening to All !
I have a scenario. I am explaining this scenario through 1 example.
We have a material 'X'. Inhouse production time for this material is 6 days, which is maintained in MRP2 view.
Now in Routing of this material 'X' there are total 10 operations starts from 1 to 10. Operation No. '4' & Operation No. '10' are milestone operation. The workcenter for both milestone operations are different. Now in house production time which I maintained in material master is total lead time for material 'X'.
The requirement is:  Workcenter of Operation "4 "wants to know on daily basis that what quantity should be delivered from their workcenter.
Now my question is that can I maintain this lead time(6 days) in 2 parts as:
Till operation "4" my lead time is 5 days &
From operation "5" to Operation 10 lead time is 1 day.
    Please suggest all possible solutions.
Can APO help in this scenario.
    Thanks in Advance.

If you run MRP with "lead time scheduling" (instead of "basic dates"), it will schedule the order by the routing, and let you know the planned workload for each WC in advance.

  • Purchase order with transportaion time+replenishtment lead time in PP/DS

The process: Location 0011 buys by supplier 1080 with normal purchase order.
Delivery lead time 30 days of this 20 days transportation time and 10 days replenishment lead time of the supplier. Delivery free on board.
What to do that the date for free on board is in the purchase order.for example.: Beginning November.
And the inbound delivery date end of November in the md04 R3 and product view PP/DS.

Yes 30 days is the total lead time . I am not so good in modelling of FOB in PP/DS.
In R3 we have a not so good solution for FOB. There we have add the transporting time inte the GR Processing Time. This is not so good.
    The solution beeing
in the  purchase order the date for finish the supplier on board
and in the md04 R3 and product view PP/DS the to arrive in the firm location
    kind regards Feth

  • Lead time

    Dear friends,
Is there any report in SAP LE which can give the total lead time for delivery of materials from the plants to the destinations(customer)
Your valuable reply is highly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Sampath

    Sampath,
I am not aware of such a report.
The duration of time scheduled in a Sales order between the shipping point and the destination is carried in the Sales routes (configuration transaction OVTC).  The routes that your company uses can be determined in a number of ways.  Information (including duration) can be seen in Table TVRO.  Information concerning determination (which route is associated with a source-destination pair) are usually contained in table TROLZ.  This configuration is in IMG>SD>Basic Functions>Routes>Route Determination>Maintain Route Determination.
If you actually interested in the 'lead time', which also includes manufacturing/procurement time, Pick/Pack Processing time, etc, this is a bigger task.  More data needs to collected.
In either case, I believe you will have to commission your ABAPers to create a Z report.

  • Need info about Safety lead time in material master

    Hi,
Safety lead time in material master is used to bring requirements forward.
we define this time in terms of days.
I tried to use this field, but system is not bringing the requirements forward.
System is planning material as other raw materials.
The requirement dates for raw materials without safety lead time and with safety lead time are same.
Can anybody explain, how it works and how we can alalyze the results with example.
Is there other settings we need to do ?
    Regards,
    Mahesh

    Hi James,
    Thanks for reply.
I have defined safety lead time, in the MRP 2 view. But still, sytem is not bringing the requirements forward.
Can you please tell me, is there any other setting I need to do ?

  • MRP: Firm Orders and Time Fence Control

    Hi,
We have a business requirement where we have Firm Purchase Orders and WIP jobs outside the planning time fence (PTF). We then have new demand for the item coming from SO. When we run MRP, the system is extending the planning time fence up to the Need by date of the latest PO so this means there will be no stock to cover the new demand and we are in backorder!
    Example:
    Item: ABC
    Item Leadtime: 5 days
    PTF: 5 days
    Sysdate : 09-Feb-2009
Firm Purchase Order: 20-Mar-2009 (outside the PTF for the item)
    WIP job demand: 20-Mar-2009
New SO 5000001252 with schedule ship date 17-Feb-2009
To cover the demand for SO 5000001252 MRP is suggesting a new planned order for 20-Mar-2009.
    Plan option:
Profile MRP:Firm Planned Order Time Fence = No
    Overwrite = None
    Append Planned Orders = Yes
Planning Time Fence Control = Yes
Has anybody come across this scenario? How can we force MRP to suggest a Planned Order for the 17-Feb-2009?
    thanks

Many thanks for the quick reply!
We have MRP:Create Time fence = Yes
We want time fence except for firm orders. My understanding from reading the documentation is Firm orders are those MRP will not touch. There is no mention of extending the PTF. Basically in our business we are trying to peg a PO to a WIP. Is there another way of achieving this?
Once again thanks and I will do some tests by setting MRP:Create Time fence = No

  • How is lead time in working days calculated in 2LIS_05_QVUDN

I was wondering if someone knows how lead time is being caclulated for 2LIS_05_QVUDN.  I've found the tables associated and the function module but I can't find the actual calculation
    Thanks

    Hello
The lead time in working days works like this
If you have 1 inspection lot for a material   -the time from  Lot creation to Usage decision given  is the lead time.
Lot created               Usage Decision made       Lead Time
    for eg Material X , inspection lot no   14/05/2008 10: 00          14/05/2008 14: 00            4 Hours
it converts the hours in to days . =4/24= 0.16 days
For total lead time individual lot's lead time sum is calculated
    Hope this clarifies your doubt
    Regards
