Planning to buy an iphone in US

hi people.. i live in philippines and il be heading to california and las vegas next week, and im planning to buy an iphone 3gs, do i need to sign up for a at&t plan when i buy an iphone in a retail store? prices of 3gs in retail store are same as the website?
thanks

You can buy an iPhone without an AT&T subsidy or contract, but the prices are $499 (8GB), $599 (16GB), $699 (32GB). The iPhone (sold in the US) is configured to work only with wireless service provided by AT&T. It won't work in the RP. Also, nothing in the iPhone will work until activated with AT&T.

I am planning to buy an iphone 4 or 4s in saudi arabia. can i use it in India with a different sim card? plz reply

Yep, but you won't have any warranty or support for this phone in India, nor will you have FaceTime. FaceTime has been permanently removed from all iPhones purchased from official sources in Saudi Arabia.

  • Hi everybody, i am planning to buy the iphone 4S contract-free, but i need to know if it will work in Qatar, how can i make sure?

    hi
i am planning to buy an iPhone 4S contract-free, (the one will be released in november) but i want to make sure that it will work in Qatar.
how can i make sure of that.
    thank you

The iPhone 4s is a multi carrier 'world' phone, it works on CDMA and GSM based networks.
Check out what system the carriers in Qatar operate on and check the technical specs of the iPhone 4s.
The chances are the iPhone 4s will work fine on their network.
You will need to make sure the carriers in Qatar offer Micro SIM cards to use  in the iPhone 4s. If the carriers don't offer Micro SIM, you will not be able to use the iPhone 4s with a standard SIM (without a bit of SIM card surgery).
    Hope this helps

  • I am planning on buying an iphone 4 from some one. The phone still has the Apple Care Protection plan on it. Would there need to be a transfer of plan onto my name? If so, how is this done?

Hi, I am planning on buying an iphone 4 from some one. The phone still has the Apple Care Protection plan on it. Would there need to be a transfer of plan onto my name? If so, how is this done?

As the others have said, transferring AppleCare to your name is not absolutely essential. It can make things easier in some cases, though, should questions arise, so it's worth having done. The person from whom you're buying the iPhone will have to call AppleCare Plan Administration (s/he can call the normal Apple support line and ask to be transferred) and arrange to have the plan transferred to you.
    Regards.

  • I plan to buy an iphone 6 from New York. I am from India and shall be using the phone in India. Is it possible to get an unlocked iphone from the store? If yes, how much would it cost?

I plan to buy an iphone 6 from New York. I am from India and shall be using the phone in India. Is it possible to get an unlocked iphone from the store? If yes, how much would it cost?

It is going to be months before any unlocked iPhone 6s will be available.
Also be aware that the iPhone purchased in the USA will only have warranty service in the USA. Any warranty service will require you to bring it back to USA.

  • I am planning on buying an iPhone 6 plus when it is available, will it runs well under carries from China in China? Does it support 4G?

I am planning on buying an iPhone 6 plus when it is available in US. Will it run well under carries from China in China? Does it support 4G?

If you want a phone that will work in China from the US, then you will not be able to buy one on launch day because you need an unlocked phone and unlocked phones will not be on sale on launch day and probably will not be available for at least a couple of months afterwards.
Frequency differences between USA and China probably mean that if you buy in the US you will not get 4G in China and you will also have no warranty on the phone in China if you buy in the US - iPhone warranty is not international.
If you want an iPhone that will work in China, then buy it in China.

  • Hi. I'm planning to buy an iPhone 6 handset only in America. No network. Is it possible? I'm British and is going to use the handset in United Kingdom using a local network in Uk. Thanks

Hi. I'm planning to buy an iPhone 6 handset only in America. No network. Is it possible? I'm British and is going to use the handset in United Kingdom using a local network in Uk. Thanks

None of the iPhones currently being sold in the US is carrier unlocked, so no, they will not work.

  • I am planning to buy an iPhone 5. Which storage size should I buy?

I have about 400 songs, not many apps (maybe a page or two of games most not exceeding 300mb. Think: Angry Birds and the like), planning to take a decent amount of photos (50? Ill probably sync them onto iTunes and delete them off the phone), not many videos (maybe 5 minutes, again, sync and delete), and have no movies or tv shows. So 16, 32, or 64?

As Peter says. The choice is yours alone. The standard advice is: "it is better to have more storage than you need, rather than need more storage than you have".  Temper this advice with the amount of money you are willing to spend.

  • Planning to buy iPhone 4 in UK... any way to use in US?

I'm planning to buy an iPhone 4 in the UK, but will be spending 6 months in the US next year on business. Will there be any way to get a US sim card when I arrive in the States, and swap the UK sim card out? And if I do this, would I be locked in to a long contract?
Sorry, I'm a total novice on this as you've already guessed Thanks for your advice.

Actually AT&T do have prepaid. However unless you bought an unlocked phone you would be stuck with roaming and other SIM cards will not work. The iPhone4 has a micro SIM which may be a problem for the prepaid plans - i dont know if AT&T have a deal with a micro. BTW - you may need to buy a phone and pull its SIM to use prepaid. Thats what I did for my parents visiting from Australia. Its like $50 and you get $40 worth of calls / DATA that you can recharge. DATA plans are quite reasonable also. No contract required

  • Will you be able to buy unlocked iPhone 5s from retail stores in Canada on the 21st?

    Hi,
This might be the wrong section, but it seems to be the closest fit for my question?
Anyways, I am planning on buying the iPhone 5 on the 21st in Canada. My plan is to go around 3:30 in the morning(last year I went at 5:30 and was something like 200th in line! and then buy two unlocked iPhones, one for me and one for a friend. I went to the Yorkdale Apple Store in Toronto, Ontario today and they said that they are not really sure, but are probably only selling on-contract phones in store on the launch day. I then however called the Eaton Center Apple Store also in Toronto and was told that they are 100% selling unlocked iPhone 5s from the begining in Canada. I then did the online chat and was told the same thing. So I called Yorkdale back and they still say that they aren't sure but from what they have been told so far it looks like they will only be selling locked phones, and that they will not fully know until the day of, which really is a bit rediculous.
I was hoping that someone knew whether iPhone 5s would be sold unlocked in Canada at Apple Retail Stores.
    Thanks,
    B

    No idea
Apple has not yet made  clear the status of the iPhone 6 models they will be selling enough to risk buying and in any case the warranty is NOT nternational
you will have no warranty on a US purchased iPhone
Contract free and unlocked are not the same in US
depends on how much you want to risk your money
You would need the A1586 very unlikely to be available in US in an unlocked status

  • Buying an iPhone 4 without iOS 6?

I own a MacBook from 2008 and an iPad from 2011, I am a loyal apple customer. I have never doubted my choice to be a life long apple user, until today. I have been planning on buying an iPhone 4 when my current cellphone plan runs out, but today I updated my iPad to the iOS 6 and I HATE it. I'm curious to know if I were to buy an iPhone 4, would I automatically be forced onto iOS 6, or could I choose the one before that? This will influence my choice to buy an iPhone at all. I am incredibly disappointed with the map app and would rather look into a completely different phone than be annoyed on a daily basis with the iPhone, which I know can be a better device than it is today.

If you buy from Apple (do they even sell iPhone 4 any more?) or a cellular carrier, you will almost certainly get iOS 6.  If you buy from some lesser known third party, you may have more selection, but then there is another party in the transaction that you have to think about (in case of hardware failure, for example(.
Whatever it is that you don't like about iOS 6 is very likely to improve soon.  If it were me, I wouldn't hesitate to go that route.

  • Buying an Iphone!! Wifi question??

    Hello all.
I am planning on buying an iphone of ebay. If I was to purchase someones new upgrade should I be worried about the phone getting blocked as a result of it being reported stolen?
I wanted to put my O2 pay as you go sim in.
Also since I will be using a pay as you go O2 sim do I have to pay any sort of subscriptions to appl/ O2 for using my own router through the iphone?
    Thanks for your help?

    Steve,
It seems you know very little about the iphone. Perhaps, before you purchase you should do some more research.
You could start at Apples website: http://www.apple.com/uk/iphone/
You can find the manual online as well:

  • Can I go to West Edmonton Mall on 15th directly to buy 2 iphones?

    Hello There,
Today I plan to buy two iphone 4S for my relatives, however I can't log-in apple webpage on time after 9PM and before 23:59PM, so I didn't reserve iphones successfully, while I must get the iphones on 15th, Jan 2012, because I must go back on 16th to China? How can I do? Can I go to West Edmonton Mall on 15th directly to buy 2 iphones(I'm living in Edmonton downtown now)?
    Thanks.

    Hello cdignam,
I understand you are wishing to transfer purchases from your iPhone 5 to an already-authorized computer. The following article outlines how to do so in iTunes 11:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
After connecting your device to the computer and its icon appears in iTunes, go to the File menu, then Devices, and choose Transfer Purchases from "(Your device name)".
Or, you can Show Sidebar from the View menu, and then right-click (Windows or Mac) or Control-click (Mac only) your device in the iTunes Source list, then choose Transfer Purchases from the shortcut menu that appears.
Please note that this feature works only for items that were purchased on the iTunes Store. Any items imported from audio CDs or acquired from other sources will not copy from your device to the iTunes library. Please see this article for more details.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • Buying an iPhone 4S

I am planning on buying an iPhone 4S, but I am leaving to America soon.  I am still going to use the phone in China for a few months.  If I buy an iPhone 4S in China, can I use it in America? (not using a China Unicom SIM card, but using an American card.)

You can if your carrier offers unlocked iPhones. You have ask them about it. If they do offer, it will have additional charges.
