Planning to buy Apple TV soon...

Hi,
I'm planning to buy Apple TV soon but not sure if it will be worth it.
I have loads of movies stored on my macbook pro and on external Hard drives and I'm not sure if I will be able to watch them through ATV.
Also, I'm from spain so not really much into baseball games...
Any advice?
thanx

It will depend how you have them stored, if with iTunes you will be able to play them.  If your MacBook Pro is early 2011 or newer you can mirror with Mountain Lin so you can play what is on your mac through apple TV.  You can also rent and buy films through iTunes on ATV too.
There are some geographical issues for things like netfilx (they don,t work in Cyprus) but I use mine loads with iTunes, airplay and mirror.

Yes.  Switching to Mac might be overwhelming at first, but it is not difficult.  I Just started using Macs regularly about 9 months ago after using only Windows based pc's for over 15 years.  Macs come with TextEdit , but you can also purchase MS Office for Mac or use Apple's version, called iWork.Yes, you can partition the hard drive of a Mac.  Read these also: http://www.apple.com/support/switch101/, http://www.apple.com/support/mac101/.  With regular use of a Mac, you will be able to use it without even thinking about it, just like how you learned to use a WIndows pc.

  • I'm planning to buy an IPad soon......

I'm planning to buy an IPad soon but I'm now wondering when Ipad3 is going to come out. If it's coming out soon I'll wait but.... What should I do???

Nobody on here knows when/if an iPad 3 will be released, but it's likely to be months as opposed to weeks. If the current version does what you need and you can afford it then you might as well buy one now and get a number of months use from it. They also tend to keep their value fairly well, so you could always consider selling it when/if an iPad 3 is announced (and it has an extra feature that you'd like) and put the proceeds towards that

    Hi VigneshCivil,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
Without knowing the specification requirements of the applications you will be using, I can't give you a specific recommendation. But I have provided you with the specifications of the two screen sizes of both the MacBook Pro Retina and the MacBook Air to compare with the requirements of your apps. One caution I would provide is not to go with the bare minimums required for the app, doing that would not give you optimum performance.

  • Planning to buy Apple MacBook Pro MD101HN/A 13-inch

    Dear Experts,
I am from India and I would like to buy a MacBook Pro 13 Inch without Retina display (MD101HN/A). This is available in India amazon site but I couldn't find it in (MD101HN/A) in US amazon site.
I am basically a developer and wanted to build some apps. I have a MacBook(white) bought in 2008(earlier version of mac) and one of my friend has same one but bought it in 2009 (later version of mac). But unfortunately my macbook doesn't support 64bit due to which I couldn't upgrade my OS. My friend macbook supports.
If I buy a MacBook Pro (MD101HN/A) WITHOUT retina display, does it supports all upcoming operating systems (like Yosemite OS)  at least for 3 to 4 years as Retina Display MacBooks or does apple will restrict OS up-gradation to only Retina displays.
I am actually confused between MacBook pro "with Retina" and "without Retina" display. I have few queries on this, kindly clarify.
What is the main difference between Macbook Pro WITH and WITHOUT retina display. Is it just resolution and flash storage or anything else?
I am planning to take MacBook Pro with 500GB HD (5400RPM), how much difference it make it terms of speed if we compare with 128GB flash storage?
Is all up-gradations works for Macbook Pro older version (MD101HN/A) same as Retina display Macbooks?
Why can't I find the mode MD101HN/A in US Amazon site ?
    Thanks.....

So my question is, will I face the same problem with this non-retina display model with in 4 years ( in terms of up-gradation) or apple will allow us to up-grade the OS versions may be by just increase the RAM ( 4GB to 8GB or 8GB to 16GB).
You are asking me to predict the future.  What the technical requirements will be like in 4 years from now is not even known to Apple.  I can only point out that a mid.late 2007 MBP can run Mavericks and will probably also run Yosemite.  That is a 7 year old MBP.  I would wager that this is not a concern.
Can I go head a buy this below model. Please suggest.
    http://www.amazon.in/Apple-MacBook-MD101HN-13-inch-Laptop/dp/B00DKMCB20/ref=sr_1 _1?ie=UTF8&qid=1412407181&sr=8-1&keywords=macbook+pro+13
If that model meets your current needs, purchase it.  If it does not meet your requirements, look for other options.  Retina MBPs have superior displays and very fast storage drives but from an operational standpoint are essentially the same as its non retina cousin.  In the end, the decision is yours, not mine.
    Ciao.

  • I am planning to buy an iMac 21.5 inch with Fusion drive and 16 GB RAM while i visit USA for a conference. My country of origin is India. Once i am back to India, will my iMac be covered by the Apple's Protection Plan?

I am planning to buy an iMac 21.5 inch with Fusion drive and 16 GB RAM while i visit USA for a conference. My country of origin is India and the option of configuring to my need is not avaialble here in India. My concern is once i am back to India, will my iMac be covered by the Apple's Protection Plan if something goes wrong here in India?
I recently came across some posts regarding International warranty related issues for iPhone and iPad....hence this crossed my mind...
Waiting for response from the support group members...

    Thanks Ralph
This essentially means that if my iMac develops some problem (both software and hardware) in my country (India), it will be completeley attended (even the whole system requires replacement) by the AASP in India...is that what you say?

I plan on buying a new  I Pad wit wifi and cell from Apple. But  I don't want to select a cell carrier right now. Q 1: Do I have to select a carrier at purchase? and Q 2, In the meantime will I be able to get on line at home using my Cox Internet wi fi? Thanks.

Thanks for the help. Now I can feel comfortable in not having to sign up for cellular when I buy, esp. Since I'll be using my new IPad mostly at home on my Cox wi fi. Then I can see, in using the i pad, how often I'd actually use the cellular, and where. This can help decide which type of cell plan I get. Small problem it may seem, but a very helpful answer. Thanks.

  • I own an iPod Touch 4g. Now i'm planning to buy iPod Touch 5g. Is it possible for me to register the new one with existing Apple ID so that i can transfer the apps from my existing account to my new Ipod 5g?

I own an iPod Touch 4g. Now i'm planning to buy iPod Touch 5g. Is it possible for me to register the new iPod with existing Apple ID so that i can transfer the apps from my existing account to my new Ipod 5g?

There should definitely be no issue. You can register more than one Apple device with the same Apple ID and get the same apps on both devices without having to pay for the apps again.
Alternatively, if you want all your settings to say the same, do a backup of your old iPod Touch and then whe you receive the new iPod, restore the backup on it and it'll save you the trouble from having to redownload everything.
    Cheers.

  • I am planning a trip to Ireland soon and need to know what adapter or converter I will need to buy to use my ziPad over there.

I am going to Ireland soon and need to know what adapters or converters I need to buy to use my IPad 2 over there .

You can usually find an adapter at Radio Shack or a luggage store like Mori's.  Airport shops also sometimes carry them.  Another way is to buy  Apple World Travel Adapter Kit.  In my opinion this is a little expensive unless you travel to different countries and need the assortment.

  • I am planning on buying an iphone 4 from some one. The phone still has the Apple Care Protection plan on it. Would there need to be a transfer of plan onto my name? If so, how is this done?

Hi, I am planning on buying an iphone 4 from some one. The phone still has the Apple Care Protection plan on it. Would there need to be a transfer of plan onto my name? If so, how is this done?

As the others have said, transferring AppleCare to your name is not absolutely essential. It can make things easier in some cases, though, should questions arise, so it's worth having done. The person from whom you're buying the iPhone will have to call AppleCare Plan Administration (s/he can call the normal Apple support line and ask to be transferred) and arrange to have the plan transferred to you.

  • I want to buy apple care protection plan..let me know the costs and from where i can buy it

i want to buy apple care protection plan..let me know the costs and from where i can buy it?

It seems that Apple are very efficient at collecting the £300 price, but it's very difficult to get support when needed. I have to wait four days to get a simple answer after struggling to communicate in the first place. Not a lot of 'peace of mind' in that.

  • I am using for Autocad my Windows HP Laptop. However i want to shift to Apple world and plan to buy new  MBAir 13". Is it has enough power to install bootcamp and run Autocad.

I am using for Autocad my Windows HP Laptop. However i want to shift to Apple world and plan to buy new  MBAir 13". Is it has enough power to install bootcamp and run Autocad?

I don't know, but I would assume that the MBA can install and can run Autocad with Boot Camp.
The question is more, can the software be effectively used with such a small display.
Audocad and vector packages such as Adobe Illustrator are typically run using large screens, so a lack of display real estate may mean the process is frustrating, even if it is possible.
I face the same thing - I am considering an MBA 13" and need to run Illustrator, and that would mean a lot of scrolling.
I  think you would be advised to ensure you bought an MBA with a high specification of processor and memory to give yourself the best chance of success.
Is there a Mac version of Autocad you could switch to, to make for less complication? I've managed to shift all but one of my Windows applications to OS X now, and only occasionally use Windows on the system.
