Planning to Buy iPad-3 concerned about Backlight Bleeding issue !

Hi Guys,
I am planning to buy the iPad-3, BUt with so many issues of Backlight Bleeding issues popping up. It looks a Rampant issue. Do you guys think I should wait some days before the First Batch of Munfacturing is sold out. Maybe once the Second Batch of production hits the stores this problem would not be there. But at the moment looks like Early Production and the Hasty process to get the Products out on Launch day and ready for delivery could have been the reason these issues slipped out of Quality Control. Do I wait like a month or so? I can do that, will waiting a month help ? I hope I dont get it in my iPad. I dont wanna go through the hassles of exchanging and stuff I would rather wait and buy a little late than go through these issues.
Cheers !
Augustya

Augustya, you are always free to wait until another round of hardware becomes available if you are concerned about problems people are having.
I would point out, though, that the discussion group is often looked at as an emergency room in a hostpital...you see only problems because no one healthy goes there.  You can get a false sense of the magnitude of problems if you only look at the number of complaints showing up here.
On the news last night they said Apple sold over 3 million iPads last weekend...the couple dozen problems brought up on here is insignificant out of 3 million items.  Another way of looking at the magnitude of the problem.
So if you have the ability to buy now, you can always go to the store, Apple if that is what you have available, open the iPad there, check it out (they come charged) and see if there is a light bleed problem.  If so complain on the spot and ask for a different unit.
Or wait for another round to be manufactured...just do what you are most comfortable doing.

Planning to buy iPad Mini with Cellular in US with TMobile Carrier. Is this unlocked? can i use my iPad in India with there cellular service??

That will depend on how you buy the iPad.
If you buy it from an Apple Store directly at full price it will be unlocked, and can take a sim card from any compatible GSM carrier.
If you buy it directly from T-Mobile under a subsidy(at a discount price tied to a service contract)  Then it may be locked to T-Mobile for at least 40 days of service with them.

  • I work abroad.. i'm planning to buy iPad 3/4G online

I'm planning to buy iPad 3/4G online and ship it to my address in US but i can't buy online without choosing a network carrier, I don't have a problem with that but does it work if I'm not in US and using different 4G network carrier in other countries? or it will be locked

The New iPad is not locked to a carrier. Their are some hardware differences between an AT&T and Verizon iPad. Either will work using 3G worldwide if the local carrier offers iPad plans. Neither 4G connections will work anywhere but Canada and the US. http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/

  • I am planning to buy ipad 2 wifi   3g verizon carrier, will be taking it to india need to know if the same can be used with the local providers there or would the ipad be locked and restricted only to verizon

I am planning to buy ipad 2 wifi   3g verizon carrier, will be taking it to india need to know if the same can be used with the local providers there or would the ipad be locked and restricted only to verizon

I'm fairly sure the Verizon CDMA iPad 2 had no GSM sim slot. So it won't work with any other carrier except Verizon.
As far as the AT&T version goes, it should technically work but will not support 4G/LTE cellular bands.
Given iPad 2's are no longer being sold, I doubt any  that could be bought would have a warranty still. Or have at most very little of it left.
Why an iPad 2?  its now 3 generations behind the current one.
Perhaps an iPad 4 would be a better choice.

  • IPad 2 64GB (White) Backlight Bleeding

Hi all, I just received my iPad 2, but I noticed near the home button when I view black photo/web brosing I noticed a "Backlight Bleeding" on my iPad 2.
    Is this consider damanage?

    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, restore your iPad >  iTunes: Restoring iOS software
Otherwise, take your iPad in for service >  Apple - Find Locations

  • All x220 and x230 IPS screens have backlight bleeding issue?

There's a 48-page discussion on the backlight bleeding of the x220 on the Lenovo forums (http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/X-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/Faint-Ghosting-on-X220-IPS-screen/td-p/435201). There are also many smaller threads regarding problems with the x220 IPS screen and to a lesser extent the x230 screen.
I recently purchased an x230 and experienced bleeding. Due to my onsite warranty IBM support came and replaced the screen- but the new one still had bleeding. Another engineer came out, brought a new back-panel (because the flex of the panel seemed to be causing it) and said "this isn't broken- I have seen lots of x220s and x230s with this problem- its a design default".
Could I challenge Lenovo to provide me with an x230 IPS screen which does not bleed?
I cannot believe Lenovo released/designed a laptop with such a glaring (no pun intended) fault.
Has anyone here got an x230 (or x220) IPS screen where there is absolutely no backlight bleeding on a dark background?

All X230 and X220 LG IPS will have some degree of bios bleed, it is just matter of severity.

  • I'm concerned about "heart bleed". How secure is my Apple ID and password?

Can anyone tell me if I should change my password? Has anyone been compromised by "heart bleed" within apple?

Apple's services where not Affected according a statement they released after the issue was discovered.
No such statement can be found. Only a posting from one reporter at recode.net quoting an un-named Apple employee as saying “Apple takes security very seriously. IOS and OS X never incorporated the vulnerable software and key Web-based services were not affected,”.
Probably best to wait for something with an Apple logo on it to post your words. I stopped at the end of last week when no confirmation showed up.
There is evidence that some of the sub-contractors they use to distribute data were affected, so perhaps they are vetting them before publising anything.

  • Concerns about 21CN and future systems and protoco...

I don't know if this is the right forum for this topic.  Please tell me if it should be somewhere else.
I live in a block of managed "retirement flats for the active retired" - not "care home", please !
As part of the security features, we have a 24/7 electronic emergency "help system" whereby, when we pull a cord in the bathroom or bedroom, for example, we alert a dedicated help centre about sixty or seventy miles away which then provides whatever assistance is required either by talking to us directly or by alerting emergency services locally.
Obviously, this system depends on access to the public telecommunications network in order to work at all.
We have been informed by the management company that our system needs to be replaced as it is now getting too old to maintain.  Also, that we will have to pay for it ourselves.  Both facts of which we accept.
We have been given two new systems to select from (one called Tunstall Communicall and the other called Tynetec Systems).  However, one of the first snags we have run into is one of "future proofing".  We have been learning about BT's plans for "21CN" and are concerned about whether any of the two systems we have been given to choose from  will continue to function after 21CN comes into effect.  Also, whether they will continue to work if BT changes or modifies the specifications for 21CN at any time now or in the future.
Tunstall Communicall claim (repeat, claim) that their system is entirely futureproof by virtue of the fact that they can program into their boxes any protocol that BT (or any other telecomms provider) can throw at them .  This, they claim, applies now and in the future.
Tynetec, on the other hand, while claiming (again, claiming) to be fully 21CN compliant, doubt that it is possible for any manufacturer to guarantee to meet every change that BT might throw at them in the future and therefore see no point in trying to guess what BT might do beyond 21CN.  As a consequence, they see no point in building this kind of functionality into their systems.  Who is telling the truth?
How can we learn more about 21CN in particular -- and BT's plan for its networks in general?  Also, will the adoption of Internet Protocols affect the kind of equipment we are planning to invest in?  Also, what does 21CN mean to people like us; are its specifications likely to change (and thereby leave us in the lurch) and is it even going ahead at all?
Would it be worthwhile asking the local BT Area Manager in our area to send someone technical to come and talk to us about this?  After all, we stand to be forking out more than £24,000 for something that might not work in a few years time - all because of BT.

Have a check Here it is a web site to do with the 21cn switch over.
I suspect that your alarm system will work as all it is is dial up telemetry over a pstn line.
To a certain extent 21cn at CPE (customers premises equipment) level will be backwards compatible, there will be many other companies who use this technology, like water and gas company's.
There was a similar issue back in the 80s when BT upgraded their exchanges from analogue to digital (ie Strowger to System X and Y) The majority of phones worked but the older ones would not give you the full range of facility's (pulse dialling and tone dialling)

  • Backlight bleeding on IPad 3

    Hello everyone,
I be just noticed that my new iPad 3 has a backlight bleeding on theright corner bottom ... Is anyone experience the same problem ? Should I ask a replacement ?
    Thanks

You may want to check this thread: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2779476?start=0&tstart=0 for more information on the iPad history and light leakage.
You could exchange it. I would if it was bothering me.

  • X220 still suffers "Backlight Bleed" ?? How about the X230 ??

I have sent mine in for repair. It was leaking light from atleast 6 places on the bottom. It also recently had a white dot (not pixels, more like bleed) appear on the right side of the screen.
Any chance they will actually do something ? I am hearing that they just ship them back without even fixing anything.
Also, what is with all the "this is normal, its just you"....
The ipad 2 had the same backlight bleed issue and it was LG's fault.
Anyone who had the issue was able to get as many exchanges from an apple store until the problem was fixed.
Now I pad $1000 for this laptop, MUCH MORE than an iPad 2. Not to mention it has a LOWER RESOLUTION.
This light bleeding issue is unacceptable. Excuses are also unacceptable.
So someone please answer. Has Lenovo fixed this light bleed issue ???

White dots / blotchly spots have become a normal feature of modern laptop screens. I don't know anyone with a screen over a year old that doesn't have one or more of these, regardless of vendor. However, Lenovo has a decent track record of fixing them as long as you have the accidental damage protection. Without the adp, its possible it'll be classified as "user damage" or some such thing, and then you have to deal with that hassle to have it replaced.

  • Macbook Pro Retina backlight bleed

I've been experiencing minor backlight bleed issues with my new 13 inch pro retina and not sure if this is a recurring issue with this generation because the majority of the posts about this problem are a couple of years old. I already exchanged one and BestBuy was hesitant to do the exchange, so I want to make sure this isn't an issue with all retina displays before I go return it to the store.

What you have is a hardware issue with no solution via software.  If you are looking for others who may have had the same problem and posted on this forum, use the SEARCH feature in the upper right hand corner.
The Apple store genius bar technicians would be in a better position in this situation since they work on 'sick' Macs all the time.
    Ciao.

  • Backlight Bleed, What is Your Suggestion?

My iPad 2 has bad backlight bleed. My original iPad is gorgeous. I wouldn't need it perfect, but it's very prominent on my iPad 2.
    What is your guys recommendation?
I'm a bit far from an Apple store to try to do an exchange, and I'm a bit nervous they are all like this.
    Many thanks.

Apple store swapped mine with a new one already and it's still has the same issue. When I called Apple I talked with a supervisor or something he tried to ******** with me that it's very normal for iPad 2 to have this problem it's just its nature, so I told him that my Ipad 1 LCD's doesn't has this issue at all. he said that iPad 2 has a different design that iPad 1 which make iPad 2 thinner so this is what to expect. so I told him that (which is the truth) I bought 2 iPad 2 on launch date one for myself and one for my friend, but my friend's iPad 2 doesn't has this problem at all, so he made appointment for me with Apple store in The Grove, Los Angeles and my genius guy tried to ******** too that it's normal because all the iPad 2 in his store has the same backlight bleeding too! so do all of his friends and his manager's iPad 2, but he said that he will order a new one for me anyway but it's most likely that it'll still has the same problem. I'm so ******!

  • I will be traveling to Rome and Paris.  I'm concerned about frying my IPad when charging the battery.  Will I need a converter/adapter to charge the battery or do I just need an adapter.

I will be traveling to Rome and Paris and I'm concerned about frying my iPad when charging.  Will I need a converter/adapter when charging or will I just use an adapter?

what RBRY says. Look at the fine print on your power brick. It says 100v-240v. This means it can handle world wattage.....both the us 110 and the UK/and other places 220. Anything that displays that range works anywhere in the world with the right plug adapter.
You can get plug adapters at walgreens, walmart, target, kmart, best buy, office max, office depot.....almost any major retailer. Look in the travel/luggage area.
Do some googling and find out what Italian plugs look like or you can simply find a kit that is a 'world wide' kit.

  • I'm planning to buy an iPad mini 1st generation, but is it future proof?

    Hi,
I have iPad 1, but it's obsoluted since Apple stop its iOS on 5.1.1. Sold it, so planning to get iPad mini 1st generation.
Just wonder is it future proof?
    Thanks !
    chichichar

No technological device should be considered future proof. The mini will run iOS 7 and will continue to run that as long as the hardware allows. If you are worried about being able to update for a long time you should consider buying a more recent model.
