I have a working website (iWeb 03) and am considering upgrading to iWeb 08. Any concerns? Any thoughts. Any dangers? Thank you.

    Being in the Tech industry and working day to day life of users issue i have noticed that, even though uncommon, i would need to upgrade from windows 8/8.1 to Pro, and my clients, with this general question, Why is it so expensive if i already got windows
    8, shouldnt it have most of the features and now we just buying the addons? Basic response is yes they are right but you're actually purchasing a WHOLE key and not a partial key from MS. But it does leave a section of question, why should i spend $118 - 140
    to upgrade to Pro when most of the features are already built in?
    Shouldnt microsoft upgrade the key and just install the missing features at a lower price ? e.g if single licensing is $90 and pro is $110, they charge u $20 instead of $110. I understand it about money and such, but i believe more people would upgrade to
    pro easier if the price was adjusted like that instead of it current strategic plan of a full price of Pro just to gain some basic features like Domain ability.
    Whats your thoughts?

    Yes you should be able too, this depends on the features on the phone but i would imagine something as new as the s5 would have this feature. However this would obviously be over standard sms rather than imessage.

    I don't quite understand what you mean by "I tried to move the folder to the desktop"?
    Did you actually go through the steps that I told you to do?
    iWeb will actually save and you can save your work manually, but this will be saved to your domain.sites file, which is your iWeb data file which is found under your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  Note that it is your User Library Folder and NOT your System Library.
    You need to open iWeb and not save or move any folder to your desktop, but your need to select File and then use the 'Publish to a local folder' option and this will then create and publish your html and css files to your desktop.
    If Filezilla is not working for you, then try downloading Cyberduck and use this instead.  Once you have your site published to your desktop, then there should be no problem at all uploading all your html and css files to your host/server using Cyberduck.
    Follow those steps and you should not have a problem, unless of course, you are trying to upload the wrong files?  Cyberduck is probably easier to use and might be a better choice than Filezilla.
    Also, there is no problem with compatibility and iWeb 08 and Snow Leopard.  This only occurs with Moutain Lion as Roddy has already pointed out, but if you are not using Mountain Lion, then it is not applicable, but it works fine with Snow Leopard.
    You can upgrade to iWeb 09 - version 3 if you want to, but this means purchasing either the iLife 11 or iLife 09 boxed set from Amazon - both contain iWeb 09, the latest version.

    Do not reset the old iPad until you transfer all purchase, backup and sync with iTunes one final time. After you have down all three you can then reset the iPad to factory settings.
    I would NOT reset the old iPad until you set up the new one just in case - but that is up to you. Before you reset the iPad ...
    Connect your iPad to the computer and launch iTunes. If you use auto sync just go ahead and let the iPad sync. Before you disconnect the iPad, right click on the iPad name on the left side under the devices heading and select Transfer Purchases. Let the process complete and then right click on the iPad name again and select Backup. Let the process complete and then sync one last time. Now all of your purchased content should be in iTunes on your computer and all of your data will be in the backup.
    When you set up the new iPad you can restore from the backup of the first iPad and resycn all of your content as well.

    It sounds like it might be the Airport-related kernel panics that I and some others have had. Mine were fixed completely by a logic board replacement.
    To narrow the problem down, I found that I could test by downloading large files, many at a time, and get a kernel panic while on Airport, usually within a few minutes, always within an hour. Downloading the same large files while connected via Ethernet wouldn't result in a kernel panic. I could stay online for 24 hours on Ethernet, keeping the computer active by loading pages with webcams (that automatically refresh periodically) without ever getting a kernel panic, while I couldn't connect via Airport for anywhere near that length of time without getting a kernel panic. So I was as certain as one can be that the problem was caused by Airport.
    After doing some basic troubleshooting (resetting the PMU, repairing permissions) and even an erase and reinstall of Mac OS X, I called AppleCare with this information and described what I had tested. I would recommend doing the same to narrow down the problem and, if it's the same Airport-related kernel panic issue I had, arrange for a repair.

    The terms of your data/phone plan are solely determined by your carrier, in this case Verizon.  It is up to them if they wish to allow consumers to carry over the existing terms of their plan.  Hence, the thing you need to do is contact Verizon customer service and ask them to carry your terms over with your upgrade.  I'm hoping if you ask nicely they may do it.

    The licensing system for CS6 is different than for previous versions, as will be made clear in the forthcoming announcement,
    I'll await the changes in CS6 with interest.
    I know about the forthcoming change to one-version-back for upgrades but I'm not aware of any EULA changes yet.

    If this wording remains unchanged for the CS6 EULA, that tells me that it's OK to have CS5.5 and the CS6 upgrade installed on two computers and use both CS5.5 and CS6 on each computer.
    I do so daily with CS4 and CS5.
    Given the above from the EULA, it seems that the FAQ should remove the word "use" from the question.

  • MyiWeb'08 site went off kilter when I upgraded to iWeb'09 - help!

    I recently upgraded my iWeb'08 site with the iLife'11 package (which, in reality, gave me iWeb'09). My website is a big one: http://www.vibrationalvoyages.com
    It is made up of six different blogs with 12 to 18 entries on each blog, recorded meditations for downloading, photo albums and individual pages. The individual pages are fine. The header and archive for each blog, however, give this error message and do not list nor give access to any of the entries (the archive page is blank of all entries)

    Thank you for your two links. I should have said that I published through an FTP client.
    Okay, for anyone who logs onto this question, here is what I did (I never resolved the problem directly but I think I understand what caused it ). When I updated one of the pages, I went through my normal process of using a software program to insert my hit counter, then through another software program to work down the heaviness of the files and then used an FTP uploader to get the site onto my server. (All of the software I used is stuff recommended on this forum). I uploaded the changes along with the new assets.http file that iWeb'09 generates.
    I'm guessing it's the new assets.http page that sent the old files into tilt? I don't know for sure. After I noticed the problem, I asked cyberduck to synchronize all the files in case iWeb'09 added bits of code that was causing the problem. That didn't solve it.
    So, what I ended up doing was take a deep breath, cross my fingers and uploaded the entire website from scratch, which takes about five hours in total. Everything looks good for now except for one or two entries where the wording and typefaces are extremely weird, but my sense is that it's because I did too much work on those pages in the past and so the coding history is knotted up. I don't think it was because I didn't cross my fingers hard enough.
    I'm sharing this so if one of you more experienced MacMasters out there know a faster way to upgrade from iWEb'08 to IWeb'09/pseudo'11, then share it with those who come after me, okay?
