Planning webforms

Hi
We have a webform consisting of weeks where data entry is allowed on particular week ,We locked weeks using scenarios by start perion and end period.
and when we open the webforms in excel thro smartview, those cells that were hidden appear to be read only, but when query them in an ad-hoc manner using essbase , i can enter data into the locked cells ,means if i refresh the sheet it shows the submitted data.
Please help

Refreshing the database won't help. The start/end periods associated with Scenarios in Planning don't make their way into the Essbase security filters. This security information lives in Planning only, and not in Essbase.
This is why we generally don't provision users with Essbase access to Planning apps . . . an Essbase connection allows users to circumvent certain Planning security features. Workflow is another case like this . . . Essbase security filters do not include any information regarding who a Planning Unit Owner is. That security info is held only in the Planning metadata repository, and if users connect directly to Essbase . . . well you get the idea.
Bottom line . . . use a Planning connection when retrieving data from Planning.

Unable to view SmartList in Planning webforms in 11.1.1.2

Hi Friends,
I am using Hyperion Planning 11.1.1.2 webforms. I am Unable to view SmartList in Planning webforms.
steps I have done:
1.Created a SmartList.
2.Added entries to Smartlist
3.Assigned the SmartList to a dimension Member(Account Member).
4.In the webform I am selecting the same account member as Column member.
5.One Members for Row.
6.Rest of all the dimension members are POV/PAGE.
When I open the form I am not able to see the smartlist for the account member. I am not able to select.
Also I see that there is no "Enable Smart List" option in EPM (11.1.1.2). I have seen the same in 9.2
Any Idea what needs to be set or changed?

Hi,
Have you set the evaluation order, Administration > Dimensions > Evaluation Order > Move the dimension that the smart list is against across to the right hand window.

How can I reduce number of rows in Planning webform in Smartview?

Hi,
I downloaded a Planning webform into Smartview. I want to reduce the 1000 rows down to 20 for a particular user as he does not submit data for the other 980 rows. How can I reduce number of rows in Planning webform in Smartview?
Someone said that I can insert vlookup code into Smartiveiw pointing to a new worksheet that has only 20 rows. I could not test it as our Planning 9.3.1 has a bug that would not take sub variables from Smartview.

Hi,
My first reaction is why do you have a form with a 1000 rows, surely this is a design issue and doesn't benefit anybody when entering data, anyway why not have security on the dimensions then users will only see what they have access to when they retrieve the form in smart view or through the planning web front end.

Restricting members in Planning Webform depending on the member selection

Hi Guru's
Is there a way in the planning webform, to restrict members showing in the form, for example, I have Entity, Employee, Position. Depending on the entity selection I need to display on the form related to that entity. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Im not sure there is any simple way to get dynamic row selection based on what is selected in the page.
If I were designing the form based on what you have stated, I would probably stick both Account and Year in the page, and the 400 products in rows. This would require the user to select the different combinations of Year / Account, but would mean only 12 columns (instead of 72).
Alternatively you could stick Account in rows too - meaning 800 rows, but less combinations to select in Page....all depends what is deemed acceptable to the user.
Probably other approaches that may be better than above (put Product in the Page for fun!!)

Planning Webforms not connecting to the Essbase

Hi,
When the user is trying to connect to the Webforms, below error is showing up. Same issue occured yesterday, I restarted the Essbase Server and it resolved the issue.
A substitution variable required for this calculation is undefined. Variable: CurYr
Today, I recycled all the services but still not able to connect to Essbase through Planning. And I am also not able to connect to the Essbase Server through EAS Console , I am through with this id but when clicking on the Essbase Server node, it throwing out error as "Invalid Login Credentials". I am using same user id for planning and Essbase, planning is working fine but not for Essbase
Can you please advise on this issue.

Hi,
Could someone have changed Essbase password without you knowing? The fact that you are able to login to EAS and Planning doesn't necessarily mean you can connect to Essbase with the same credentials for granted. I suggest you run Essbase in command shell (Programs->Oracle EPM->Essbase->Essbase Server->Essbase or Start->Run Type Essbase). It should show you whether there is a problem with the password or not.
One more possibility could be that your essbase server might not be starting properly at all even though services console shows you that it does. You can see what the root cause to this problem in Essbase shell.

How to hide the Attribute dimension from Planning webform

I am in Planning 9.3.1
We are using members in row section of webform w.r.t Attribut dimension
so when we are viewing the webform- it is displaying member name followed by Attribute dimension name .
any way to hide that Attribute dimension member from the webform.

In the Dimension Properties for that dimension, select "Enable custom attribute display" but dont pull the attribute from Available Dimensions to Selected Dimensions. I've given the name of the property from 11.1.1.3 version, so not sure if its the same in 9.3.1 but it'll be somewhat similar.

Adding HTML content in Planning Webform Instruction box

Hi,
I am working on Planning 9.3.1, we are migrating the application from planning 3.5.
One point i noticed todays is "Adding Instruction to Webform".
In my Old system- i can add HTML content to set the instruction more user friendly or even i can add url inside the instruction box by href fucntion of html.
In System 9.3.1- when i just copied that html from old webform Instruction box to new system webform Instruction box, it is not displaying in correct format.
Any idea and any thought , how can manage to add html inside the Instruction box.
Ex: Tax Percentage Input: This form is used to enter applicable Federal and State taxes 
The above text display on click of "View" as the font ,bold etc defined above in my planning 3.5 webform but same content is not working in 9.3.1
Is that feature has gone in system 9 onwords...

This is no longer available based on the base code changing and no longer allowing it. Other might have suggestions on how to make so that works again but way I know handle this is through "menus". In menus you can add hyperlinks to other stuff.
Well I thought it changed back in later versions 11.1.1.3.04 (I know not much use if you are on earlier versions) :- 9475065 – Users cannot use HTML commands in data form and task list instructions.

Planning Webform IN Read Only Mode

Hi,
All the webforms that i created in Planning 11.1 is in read Only mode. Non of the webforms have"Make Read Only" Checked nor the members used are Dynamic calc. I tried logging in using admin but that not solve the issue either. I can send in the data using excell add in but not throught planning. I dont see any more option to adjust this.

Another thing to check is the plan type you have set the form against and the source plan type for the account member on the form.
For example if you have a form set against plan type 1 and the account on the form has a source plan type of plan type2 then the form will be read only.

Planning webform issue in 11.1.2 on IE/Firefox

Hi,
I have installed Hyperion 11.1.2 suite in my PC (Essbase, Planning). I am facing an issue with opening webforms developed in planning from Planning direct URL:
For example: http://chandrabose:8300/HyperionPlanning/LogOn.jsp
I can perform all operations from planning web using direct URL, except opening webforms developed, Whenever I try to open a webform, it is saying "loading..." but even after 1 or 2hrs screen remains same but webforms are not coming up.
I have IE7 installed, but I was succeeded opening same webform from workspace connecting to same planning application. I heard in some forums that Firefox will give exact error message. When I try to open same webform from Firefox I got following error message:
"A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.
Script: http://chandrabose:8300/HyperionPlanning/BT_ProcessBar.jsp?Application=planning:533
Options: Continue, Stop"
When I press continue, Firefox also going hung state.
Please help :)

* Yes, I was succeeded connecting planning from workspace and opening webforms from there. Doing the same activity from planning direct URL is giving the trouble.
If it is a memory issue why I was succeeded from workspace? Any thoughts?

Planning Webforms and Workspace

Hi,
we just migration to 9.3.1 and I have some problems with the Webforms from Planning managing in Workspace.
We ahve an user, call testplan, he is member of a global group wich has access rights to forecast and estimate. Also the webforms are assigned to thsi group. If I now go to workspace -> applikations -> planning -> forecast is see on the rights part of the screen my folderstrukture of my webforms, and on the right side of the screee the webforms conatained in the folder i selected on the left site.
If I go to estimate, i cant see the folder structure? Whats going wrong?

Planning WebForm logs in 11.1.2.3

Hi,
I may be missing out something, but am unable to find logs for errors in Web forms in Planning 11.1.2.3.
When i try opening a webform, i get an error message and asks me to look into logs.
I searched following locations:
1. User_projects\epmsystem1\diagnostics\logs - no log file related to planning
2. user_projects\domains\epmsystem\servers\planning\logs\ - 3 files - planning0.log, planning_WebApp.log, Planning_ADF.log
Am I searching for logs in wrong location ?

Windows? if so you can try <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>\user_projects\<instance_name>\diagnostics\logs\services

Read only columns in Planning Webform

Hi All,
I have build a form with Period (months jan, feb and Mar) and members of Custom called Type dimension in Columns.
The members in Type dimension I have selelcted is Type1, Type1 Adj, Type2,Type2 Adj.
My requirement is that I want to show Type1 and Type2 Columns as READ ONLY where the users should not enter any data in those two coulmns.
Is there any way to achieve this requirement. I am using Planning 11.1.2.2 version.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi,
Please follow the below steps to make particular columns as read-only in Hyperion 11.1.2.2.
1) Open the form in Edit mode
2) Click on the Layout tab, once layout tab is opened. Please click on the below Column which you want to make as "Read-only" (A, B, C etc), if you have three columns then you could see A, B and C.
Note: Mouse Cursors are very sensitive in latest version, if you click on the right place only, you will get the required proprieties, otherwise it wont show any properties.
In this example, am going to make Column B as read only. Exactly move the cursor on "B" and click, in the right hand side, you could see lot of properities, click on "Segment Properties" and under that option as "Read only", select that check box to make column as read only.

Can't embed HTML in Planning webform instructions in version 11

We used to be able to put HTML in webform instructions in 9.3.1, for example:
line 1
line 2
... where the is converted to a blank line. However this no longer seems to work in 11.1.1.1
Does anyone know how to get this working or can confirm that this feature has been removed?

Hi,
The way the instructions are displayed has been changed in V11.
All versions call FormAnnotation.jsp to display the instructions, in version 11 the code has been changed so the instructions are displayed inside a textarea html element,
in previous versions it was just displayed as straight html, the unfortunate thing is html tags cannot be used inside a textarea element so they are just shown as the way they were entered.
Though saying that I am sure they have changed the way it works in one of the patches in 9.3.1 , I think it has started converting the some of the tags to html codes so they are displayed the same as you enter them (it was patch 10 I saw this occur maybe it happened before or maybe I was imagining the whole thing)

How to disable a shorcut in Planning webform ?

With laptop with French keyboard, the shortcut to lock cell in data forms (Shift + & in Azerty or in Qwerty Shift + !) is unusual because it replace "1" input.
We have to enter before MAJ input to enter numeric value 1 with laptop without numeric tab.
How we can disable this shortcut in Planning, users aren't very pleased with this constraint.

Emanuel is correct, it is not possible to disable a row. However, you can use the Validate event to check whether a cell belongs to a row that should be 'disabled' and prevent changes to the value.
