Plans to Open Source Identity Manager

Hello all! Are there plans to open-source Identity Manager much as Sun has done for Access Manager (OpenSSO) and Federation Manager (OpenFM). :-)
Best,
--John

In next future, Identity Manager will be in open source. But, Access Manager, I don't have news.
Regards.

a bit, yeh. I worked on a content management system for a few weeks, that was a web app, and ajax, too, so it was fully buzzword-compliant :-)
but I didn't do an enormous amount of work on it, and left the company very quickly

  • Adobe Open Source features in CS5

Adobe announces the issue of CS5, so what innovations in Open Source Technics will be included there? I asked Google  for software consulting services http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&client=firefox-a&tbo=p&rls=org.mozilla%3Aen-US%3Aoffici al&tbs=blg%3A1&q=Adobe+Open+Source+Website+CS5&aq=f&aqi=&aql=&oq=&gs_rfai= as the result I found that Web Premium CS5 also features support for the most popular open source content management. But what's about more advanced features? Who knows?

    Yes we use Suitcase Fusion.
Prior to updaing to CS5 we had an older version of suitcase fusion 12.xxxx
When we upgraded to CS5 we also upgraded to the current version of Suitcase Fusion 3 & updated it.
No specific plugins come to mind.

  • Single sign-on using Oracle Identity Management

    Hi All,
I am new to Oracle Identity Management. We are planning to implement Oracle Identity Management in our environment, which consists of :
    * Microsoft Active Directory.
    * Microsoft Exchange
    * Oracle eBusiness Suite Release 12 running on RedHat Enterprise Linux 5.5
Is it possible to implement single sign-on using Oracle Identity Management. Once you integrate Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange & Oracle eBS, a user should not be prompted to enter password to access Oralce Applications once he logins to his computer/Windows.
    Thank you for your time.
    Thanks

    Hi,
You need to use different product eSSO for single sign on. to manage user credentials for applications from OIM then you need to implement Provisioning Gateway connector.
Once you have eSSO Logon manager running on users workstation, user will be prompted for credentials for first time then going forward it will not ask.
    Regards,
    Raghav.

  • Create database using mxmc-install.cmd + installing identity management

    Hi all,
We planned to install a identity management on a existing bi sever as a separate instance.I got the installation documents in service market place.
    https://websmp110.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SCENARIO=01100035870000000202&_SHORTKEY=01100035870000706149&
I started installing the database using the document
"Installing the Identity Center Database on Oracle".
I executed  mxmc-install.cmd/mxmc-install.sh file .It is asking for the net service name.
"Enter Net service name (if remote database): "
What value should i provide here?
Since the database for IDM is not yet created , we thought that the script will create the database for the IDM.  So we decided to give
sid for IDM as c24 and entered the passwords for user id like system etc. But at the end it came up with an error
    ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve the connect identifier specified"
This error comes when the database entries are not there in tnsnames.ora and listners.ora. But we have not yet created the database and we were try to create a new database.
So seeing this, does we need to manually create a new database
with DBSID c24 and then execute the script?
Does we need to do anything else before using the script mxmc-install.cmd  ?.
Please shed some light into the issue.
    thanx and regards,
    Rajesh

    Hi Rajesh
You need to install a new database using net configuration assistant.
Please refer this link Re: issue with Oracle install in IC
    Thank you.

  • Managing Open Source Web Projects...

    I have checked out
    http://www.rollerweblogger.org/wiki/Wiki.jsp?page=RollerSourceCodeAccess
the Roller 1.2 branch, using Subclipse.
Then I have chosen "Manage as Web Application" in the menu.
And I get an error message...
"Unable to find a valid WEB-INF folder in the select project."
Yes, there is a /web/WEB-INF/ folder. But there is no web.xml in that folder. What does "valid WEB-INF" mean?
Now who is "wrong" here? The target in open source development must be "Check out, Code, Test, Check in". Is it
    - Eclipse that is not flexible enough?
    - NitroX that is not flexible enough?
    - The roller project that does not confirm with Specification? (which Specification?)
    - How can this be improved?
    Best regards,
    Marky

    Yes, thanks for this advice.
So what I finally had to do was:
    ant built.xml -all
Then I have chosen "Manage as Web Application" in the menu.
Then I have chosen "Rebuild NitroX Database"
But then it did not regognize the "Struts Configuration" automatically.
    So I closed the project.
    And then open the project.
And then I was at the point, where it looked ok! I now even see the Struts Configuration.
Unfortunately all this still breaks with the rule:
"Check out, Code, Test, Check in"
since there were more steps and knowledge involved.
    So who can improve here?
    - Eclipse that is not flexible enough?: well, it seems like Eclipse can handle this.
    - NitroX that is not flexible enough?: well, it seems like Eclipse can handle this.
    - The roller project that does not confirm with Specification? (which Specification?). Yes, maybe the open source projects need to adapt to enable "Check out, Code, Test, Check in", is that right?

  • Links for open source DRMs

    Hi Guys
I am woriking on a project for that i require to manage the web users acount and theire resources, rights etc. the resources are mainly mp3,mp43 empeg4 vedio files, so i need to manage these user resources by encripting the files and associating rights and permision, restrictions to these vedio files, as i dont have much time to build these things from scratch, so i planned to go for some open source DRM(Digital Rights Managment) Servers, so guys if any one have used such DRM or know about avaliabilty on net of such DRMs please send the link, my id is [email protected], any help is appreciated.
    thanks in advance

claudiogc wrote:So, if install this driver before xorg i'll get an error right?
Have you used pacman yet?  Ever?
Do read about the different types of dependencies mentioned in the previous post - but more globally, read about pacman: it handles dependency resolution just fine.  If you try to install a package that depends on other packages, pacman will install the dependencies as well.

  • Where can I find a sophisticated sample app (from open source or oracle)?

I am looking for open-source or Oracle's sample applications that uses most if not all of the features in Oracle Appserver 10.1.3. Most of existing sample applications I found under the 'sample applications' link are for older version of Oracle AS, and not compatible with 10.1.3. Other requires JDeveloper, which I don't plan on using.
    Any suggestions?
    thanks,
    Henry

Henry, thanks for the feedback ... I have asked the product manager responsible for the JCA demo to take a look and update the sample. The best way to file the bug without having access to the db is tell us here. We try our best - though sometimes can't keep up - to monitor the forums, particluarly when we have a new release where lots of issues may need follow up like 10.1.3.
On the how tos that require editing the XML, normally that is because we don't have access to do the configuration in the application server control or the command line tooling. In general I recommend you use ASC console or the command line tooling - admin.client.jar or our ant tasks - for configuration as you are right that it is the most consistent and accurate way to configure the environment. This doc book gives a sense of what that tooling works for:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25221_03/web.1013/b14432/admin.htm#sthref68
    including ant tasks:
    http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B25221_03/web.1013/b14431/anttasks.htm#sthref164
However, unlike the previous release of OAS where editing the XML files often had unexpected consequences on other instances in the cluster because of a central managed repository concept that the older release had, in 10.1.3 that concept is no longer there so editing the XML files generally works fine both in stand-alone and managed. Again, in general we recommend using the tooling but my guess is if you have found a how to that requires editing the XML files, I suspect the tooling doesn't support it yet.
Out of curiousity, I would be also interested in which one you found that had that - was it the JCA one again?
    Mike.

  • Making money from Open Source Software

    Hi Guys,
I'm thinking of committing a cardinal sin and charging for some software I have been writing. Before I am executed by an angry mob (with pitch-forks) I wanted to explain why..
I want to work with OS Software as my main career. My main aim is to create a company which can help start-up companies with their IT infrastructure. I am developing a system (which uses Arch Linux as the base-OS) which is similar to eBox (but is much more Windows and Mac friendly... including Single Sign On authentication for all clients); so these companies can save thousands (and sometime tens of thousands) of dollars/pounds on licensing and expensive hardware. (My system currently only required 256MB RAM and runs much faster than Winblows!).
But herein lies my problem. If my system is based around MIT/GPL software such as Kerberos, DNSMasq, IPTables, LDAP etc... how can I make any money from it?
What I'd like to do is to be hands on and go in and setup the systems myself; so I could charge labor and not have to invest a great deal of time on my own infrastructure (ie. making it idiot proof); but as getting software running on Arch is so trivial; I don't think I could sustain a business on this alone.
I also read somewhere about a company who wrapped up Open Office.org and Firefox in an OS and sold it. It stuff like this legal? How do they get around selling something which is unmodified versions of OS software???
My other option is a support contract for each company; which is probably my best option. I charge for a days labor for the initial installation (after topology designs have been signed-off) and then charge the company yearly for 24/7 support.
Does anyone have experience making a living from FOSS? Does anyone have any suggestions or warnings for me?
I'd love to keep my software open source; but I'd also like to eat! :S
    Thanks,
    tommed

Our SOHO is managed by myself for the daily tasks, but I give the real administration of our network (installing, upgrading, debugging, adding new features etc.) to a self-employed Debian developer.
He has set us up a system like the one you describe: Kerberos, LDAP, NFS, mail, asterisk etc. He has only charged us for the work he has spent making this happen. From our off-the-record-talks I gather that he does varying stuff, so it wouldn't pay off for him to spend time in making a solution for 1 case (admittedly, a case that you could easily adapt for other projects)
Myself I'm writing a program in PHP to manage our office. It's more of a single frontend for all the free software that we are using already. I'm planning on the long term to release this frontend in a free license, only charging people for the cost to set it up and to maintain it.
I'm by no means a GPL-specialist, but I think this is the way to do this.

    Download
Get OCILIB from OCILIB Project page at Sourceforge Website:
    http://orclib.sourceforge.net/
Hope this would help some of you ;D
    Francois

Don't give up just because there are other options out there.
Adobe is only giving up the free tool for education purposes, or unemployed developer.  You didn't say if you were one of those.
I believe over time there will be plenty of room for alternate IDE approaches that support the Flex Framework; and in fact there are quite a few options already out there.

    Thanks and Regards
    Rahat

    All,
I could resolve the issue by applying the note Note 869852 - Central Note For UME Web Dynpro UIs , the part at page 4/11  :
    5)trouble shooting
The second symptom matches our problem and was resolved using the solution b.
Please note if you dont define an account for the Run_as identity it will pickup any user in the Administrator group
I restarted the J2ee after the change.
    regards
    tarek kamal
