Plant Connectivity

Hi,
Is there some detailled information available for Plant Connectivity? (both functional and technical)
I have found this so far, but it does not give enough information:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_pco20/helpdata/EN/46/a00344d44852b7e10000000a155369/frameset.htm
kind regards,
Michel

Here are some additional notes:
The u201CSAP ME PCo Extensionsu201D have now been made available to customers and partners via SAP Developer Network (SDN). Included with the extensions are an implementation guide and example scripts. The package delivers a file monitor agent and an ME destination to support the integration of factory floor equipment to SAP ME for discrete manufacturing industries. The package provides a light-weight, configurable, transformation and transaction engine and scripting capability, in the ME Destination, to support conditional processing. The delivered examples illustrate the parsing of a machine generated data file and the communication of some of this data to SAP ME via web services.
PCo and the SAP ME PCo Extensions enable SAP ME to:

  • Plant Connectivity - RFC Destination

    Hi,
I configured Plant Connectivity 2.0 (V2.0.0.33) according to the following document:
SAP Plant Connectivity 2.0 - Configuration Guide for EWM
On the EWM side one have to create a TCP/IP connection. There is a brief instruction in the EWM help:
Setting Up the Material Flow System > System Settings > 7.
The RFC Client connection test succeeds. The Connection Test in the SCM/EWM system results in error.
There are some ambiguous points in the configuration for me.
PCo Management Console > Destination Systems > RFC Settings > Server Settings
    - Program ID
Should the Program ID be the same as the  name of the TCP/IP Connection?
    - Gateway Service ?
Here I took the sapgwxx which is listed in the error message.
    - Application Server ?
What is meant by Application Server? It is the server where Plant Connectivity is installed? Or is it the SAP server?
    SCM > SM59
The instruction in the MFS System Settings number 7 about the RFC destination doesnt specifies which settings to make here. Also the EWM-MFS-PCo guide doesnt give any detail about that. There is only a hint on page 15 that one can test the connection.
I would appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!

As the other applications like OPC Scout are able to connect to the DCOM (at least this is my understanding) in order to query the OCP Server, it seems to me that there is a Plant Connectivity problem. I tried to find out where the settings ConnectivityAgentProxy are detailed - I thought something like an .ini, .xml file - but unfortunately I did not find anything. Do you have any suggestion, advice?
    Thanks in advance,
    Florin
Before I start with installing image of the PC with the image before doing the network id name change i would like to ask you if there is any setting, configuration file

Do you have a named user entered for the Agent Instance Service User name/password?  If so, you may have to delete and re-enter the name\password to reset this.  If you are using DCOM over a workgroup, the same workgroup user name/password must be set up on both the PCo server and the OPC Server PC's.
    Hope this helps.

  • SAP Plant Connectivity Error

    Hi All,
We are using Plant Connectivity 2.0.1.7 with SAP MII 12.1.4.
we have configured two agents which are running automatically but agents got stopped whenever there is upgrade in MII and again we need to reconfigure agents.
    Please resolve this issue.
    Regards,
    Manoj Bilthare

Hi, just to follow up on what Manoj has mentioned.  MII was always on 12.1, but patches were updated.  When this happened, we got errors that the PCo couldn't connect to the Destination (MII).  What happened, was the PCo Agent would start and work for a period, but then when it tried to re-connect (I think after the initial session timed out), it wasn't able to, saying invalid version of MII.  If we stopped and started the PCo, it would run for a time and then fall over again.
We reconfigured the MII Destination (still just selected 12.1) and then deleted the PCo agents and re-configured them.  Now we're getting the error that there's an invalid date format - not too sure where it could pick that up other than from the OPC Server.  All the Agents are doing is monitoring one tag each.  If the tag value = 1, then the notification fires and calls the MII transaction.
The OPC Source hasn't changed, all that's changed is we've patched MII.
Has anyone else experienced this same sort of behaviour from the PCo 2.0?

  • SAP Plant Connectivity SDK 2.1 for download

    u2009Hello. Excellent info.
Please, we cant find SAP  Plant Connectivity SDK 2.1 for download. The note 1399331 - Plant Connectivity 2.1, says that we can download from:
https://service.sap.com/swdc ->Downloads -> SAP Installations & Upgrades -> Entry by Application Group -> Composite Application -> SAP Manufacturing Integration and Intelligence -> Plant Connectivity SDK -> Plant Connectivity SDK 2.1 but this path is not correct.
    Please, can you help us?
    Thanks.
    Gustavo Barboza
    PROPILCO

    Gustavo,
Yes it seems that the note is wrong. I will contact the author and let them know. To find it go to .../sdwc > Search All Categories > copy and paste "Plant Connectivity SDK 2.1" in the field > click the link for Installation product > click the download tab.
    That should do the trick

  • Using Plant Connectivity

    Hi,
Is there a blog or document explains detailly using of Plant Connectivity?
    Thanks.

Cemil - I see you now have dual identities on SDN with 2 different logins?
If your company or customer was part of the ramp-up process for PCo 2.0 you would have access to the ramp-up knowledge transfer materails on service marketplace (http://service.sap.com/rkt).  The learning map for PCo contains numerous learning objects that used in conjunction with the help would probably address your question.
Perhaps phrasing your inquiry as to what it is you are trying to accomplish would give the community better insight on how to help.
Think of PCo 2.0 as a trigger agent that sends an xml message to a business logic transaction that starts a workflow, business process, or in essence just 'does something' based upon the PCo trigger condition being met.  From an integration standpoint it's a matter of creating the necessary transaction in MII and defining the InputXML property to receive the message from the PCO agent trigger.

  • MII and Plant Connectivity 2.2 Bi-directional Socket Connection

    Hi,
I have to send a command to a serial device from within MII via a socket connection to be able to have a respons from the device.  I know in Plant Connectivity a socket connector can be setup. But is it also possible to send a message from MII to the serial device over Plant Connectivity, because it seems that the socket can only be setup to trigger notifications based on received messages from sources (and not from destinations). I read this functionality was planned to be build into Plant Connectivity 2.2, but I can't figure out how to set it up?
    kind regards,

    Hi Bram,
We can set up connection between PCO & MII through "UDC" connector. UDC connector is available in MII through
Data Services --> Data Servers --> New --> UDC and click on "OK" button.
You need to provide all PCO system details like server name, Port number etc and save the connection. Check the status of connectivity through Data Services --> Connection Status.
Go through the URL : http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mii121/helpdata/en/43/e80b59ad40719ae10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm
Navigate to Data Services --> SAP MII Workbench --> Query Template --> Tag Query
Upon successful connection, open SAP MII workbench (Data Services --> SAP MII Workbench) and create a new "Tag Query" template to pull details from PCO.
So far, we pulled information from PCO, manipulated those values in MII and send these values to ERP to create notification. Let us know business scenario on which you need to send back information to PCO from MII.
    Thanks

  • Creating a central DC for plants that have mutliple company codes

    Hi,
We are looking to consolidate all of our distribution from 5 manufacturing plants (which all have different company codes) to one central distribution center in a single company code.   Has anyone had any experience with this scenario?  We will need to turn on warehouse management at the central DC and have been told that any plants connected to a warehouse in WM, have to be all in the same company code.

    Karen,
We are looking to consolidate all of our distribution from 5 manufacturing plants (which all have different company codes) to one central distribution center in a single company code. Has anyone had any experience with this scenario?
    Yes
We will need to turn on warehouse management at the central DC
Presumably this is for reasons other than the consolidation.  Using or not using WM will have no impact on company codes.  From what little I know about your business model change, there is no reason for you to use WM (other than the additional functionality, which will intrinsically improve warehouse efficiency).
and have been told that any plants connected to a warehouse in WM, have to be all in the same company code.
This is not a SAP limitation!  There may, however, be business reasons why you need to do this.
A Distribution Center is not the same as a Warehouse in SAP.  A DC is a special kind of plant.  Plants are assigned to company codes, and the ownership of the goods in this plant are generally held by that one company code.
As Jurgen mentioned, a SAP Warehouse can encompass many plants, with many storage locations, each of which may belong to several company codes.  WM doesn't care.
Storage locations are members (subsets) of plants.  A given storage location will always be connected to a single plant, and the inventory of all storage locations in a given plant will be owned by the company that owns the plant.
From your short list of requirements, I believe that your logistics model should be to ship the product from your originating plant(s) to the DC (plant).  The traditional way to do this is via Stock Transport orders.  STOs can be intercompany or intracompany, required financial documents and postings can be configured to meet your company's needs.  Other methods are also possible.
You mentioned that your DC would be one company code.  Therefore, the sales orders will be placed against one plant (the DC).  Delivery splitting would not be an issue.
Now, I notice in subsequent responses you seem to be thinking that you will ship from multiple company codes (plants).  This is contrary to your original requirement list.   As asked by Jurgen, where do you wish to consolidate your stock and where do you wish to consolidate your shipments?
    Best Regards,
    DB49

  • Can we run xMII without Plan Connectivity?

    Gurus:
We are previewing the install guide for xMII and Plan Connectivity.
I do not see the dependency between the two components.
Do we have to install Plan connectivity if we run xMII?

Plant Connectivity (PCo) and the Universal Data Servers (UDS) are optional supporting components of MII, for certain types of data connectivity and specialized alerting, but are only required when necessary.

  • Seimens HMI Integration with SAP MII

    Dear MII Experts,
We are trying to integrate shop floor systems with SAP MII for discrete manufacturing industry.
I came across the client has 70+ machines in the plant .the vendor is "DMG"
Seimens HMI is installed on each machine .
What are the possible ways here to connect to PLC from MII
I am very new to this integration part .
Can MII directly connect to Seimens HMI .
I am very new to this area , client is ready to pay extra cost for any extra interfaces .
Please suggest me the architecture to follow .
Please give me a detailed explanation here , please correct me if I my explanation is wrong here
Please reply me for any other clarification

    Hi Eswaraiah,
To access the PLC data in MII, you would need couple of things more.
    1. OPC Server where the PLC stores the data.
    2. PCo (SAP Plant Connectivity) that can read the data from OPC Server and send the data to MII for manipulation.
From PCo MII can read the data and you can then perform your business logic. Also, PCo has built-in notification settings which can trigger MII's transactions based upon some conditions.
So I believe, your landscape would look like
Siemens HMI --> OPC Server  -> PCo --> MII
    Check these out...
