Plant posting periods (MASS)

Hi Experts,
Actually i had a question, i know how to close a Open/close posting period one-by-one, but i want to know how to close posting periods in a go from ex: 2004 to 2011, without closing each month by month, can any one help me out please.
Regards,
MAX

if you cannot access the OSS note, then I am not sure if you are the right person who should execute this transaction.
maybe you can download and read the note thru transaction SNOTE
Otherwise you should contact your basis team to either download the note for you or to grand you access to service.sap.com/notes
If you then still have difficulties to understand what to do, have a look into this thread:

  • How to Open and Close Posting Periods in MM

    Hi,
I have opened posting periods for 10/2008 first and by mistake even 11/2008 and 12/2008 using MMPV.
Now when I am trying to do PGI from VL02N, the system says postings are only possible for 11/2008 and 12/2008.
How to close these two periods and default to 10/2008.
Please kindly help me to solve this issue.
    Regards,
    Gopi Krishna
    SAP QA Lead

It is possible to re-open a previously closed period. However, it is NOT advisable to do so because the valuation data of the previous period could be affected.
In general, it is only safe to reopen a previously closed period when no material postings have been done after the period shifting to the new period.
If there has already been postings after the period shifting to the new period, reverting the period back will cause database inconsistencies in the history tables.
If you decide to proceed with this process, you can use the program RMMMINIT, but, please review the documentation of this program first!! and the check the SAP notes 487381 (for the error message that you are receiving) and the 369637 (for an explanation about the inconsistencies that will be generated.
    Steps are as below;
    Go to Transaction Code SE38
    Enter program name RMMMINIT
Execute or press F8 function button
Enter your company code (From and To)
Enter relevant date: Say 01/03/2008 for Mar. 2008 month to be opened as of now
That means, user can post for the month of Feb 2008 as well as Mar. 2008
Refer SAP Note No. 487381 for more details.
As per SAP Notes 487381 ( If the periods are opened in advance in mmpv to again change it to current period the following process should be follow ), Go to Tcode MMPI, then go to menu bar and select system -> user profile->owndata.In that screen , under the parameters tab enter MMPI_READ_NOTE in Parameter ID field and enter, then under short description you will get Initialise period. Next Save.
Again go to MMPI enter company code, period and year and execute.
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
Other way of doing it is follow these steps( But try this method in Sand box Only):
    1. Go to OX18, and delete the plants assigned to your CO.Cd and save.
    2. Go to OMSY and change the posting period to the one u want and save.
3.Go to OX18 and assign the plants you have deleted in step 1.and save.

  • Re-open the Previous posting period

    hi...
we have closed the posting period for the month of 01-02(april-may) and open the 03-04(june-july)...
but now we want to open the previous posting period i.e. 01-02(april-may) again...so how could we do this..
one solution i have got is that...
    1. go to OX18 delete all the assignment for that company code and plant.
    2. go to OMSY and change the posting period..
    3.  go to OX18 and reassign the plant and company code again...
this is the right method to do that..?
will there be any -ive implications if I open the previous period by this procedure..?
or suggest me some other way to do that...
    Thanks in advance

    Hi
You can open Closed MM periods but be careful because SAP does recommend opening closed MM periods.
    Steps are :
    1) Tcode MMPI --from Tool Bar select - System - User Profile - Own Data - In parameter Tab Enter "MMPI_READ_NOTE" in parameter Field.
Try to remove assignment of plants from company code.
    Now Go to -
T-Code OMSY & Set the required Period.
Re-assign Plants to Company Code & Check whether correct preriod is open thru T-Code - MMRV
Now use T-code - OMWD to Assign Valuation grouping code to Valuation area because the earlier data gets deleted when assignment of Plants was removed.
Use the transaction code OMS2 then select FERT (or any other Material Type used by your company)
Then click on the quantity and value update.
Select your plant or valuation area and put Tick Marks in Value update and Quantity update
Even check this link...Reopening the posting period that was closed
This will definitely reslove your problem.
    Thanking you.

  • Posting Period Major Issue

    Hi
Trying to Post Stock in Plant 1000 facing an issue related to Posting Period Issues
    T-Code MB1C
When I tried to post stock in the Plant 1000, S. Loc 0001, Movement Type 501, I got an error that u2018Posting only possible in periods 2010/07 and 2010/06u2019.
So I changed the posting date to 24.07.2010. Now I am able to access the Goods Receipt New Item Screen. Once I give the Material, Qty, S.Loc, Batch and press Enter it accepts all the values.
But if I try to save it, the system gives an error message u2018Posting Period 07/2010 is not openu2019.
So I am going in circles as the initial message says posting possible in 07/2010 and 06/2010 but when I try to save after giving stock, the period 07/2010 is closed.
Earlier, I had closed pervious periods till 07/2010 using T-Code MMPV.
If this issue has to do with OB52 settings and there are any settings in OB52 that need to be changed for the same please let me know. My OB52 Settings are
    Var           1000
    A          S
    From Acct           Blank
    To Account          ZZZZZZZZZ
    From Per.1           1
    Year          2008
    To Period          12
    Year           2008
    From Period 2      13
    Year          2008
    To Period          16
    Year           2008
Thanks for taking time out to solve this.

    Hi Sammy,
Firstly, you shoud maintain posting period intervals from OB52  like below :
    Z130     +                                                   1     2008     12     2015     13     2008        16    2010
    Z130     A     ZZZZZZZZZZ     ZZZZZZZZZZ     1     2008     12     2015     13     2008     16     2010
    Z130     D     ZZZZZZZZZZ     ZZZZZZZZZZ     1     2008     12     2015     13     2008     16     2010
    Z130     K     ZZZZZZZZZZ     ZZZZZZZZZZ     1     2008     12     2015     13     2008     16     2010
    Z130     M     ZZZZZZZZZZ     ZZZZZZZZZZ     1     2008     12     2015     13     2008     16     2010
    Z130     S     ZZZZZZZZZZ     ZZZZZZZZZZ     1     2008     12     2015     13     2008     16     2010
Additionally, for closing 07/2010 period ,you should fill the period as 08 and fiscal year 2010 from MMPV t-code. Moreover, you do not need to start the new period with the MMPI t-code. MMPV is enough for it.
I hope this will very helpful for you.

  • Error during goods issue-Posting period not open

    Hi ,
I am getting an error during goods issue which says posting period not open.I guess that we have had deliveries that were created and in process while crossing over from one financial period to another quite frequently before, but we were still able to goods issue them in the next period. Can anyone tell me why this error happens and if there is any work around for this?
    Thanks,
    Hari.

    Hi,
Goods issue takes place, say on a given date and this should be updated, so that the plant valuation changes are recorded. But the periods need to opened to do this. Normally there are two posting periods available, one is in MM, done by t.code MMPV and the other in FI, t.code is OB52.
So, in MMPV we need have the current month as the posting period. But in your case it was allowing, probably because you have marked the indicator " allow posting in previous period " in MMRV t.code as our friend just conveyed.
Hope it helps. Please reward if useful.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Error with posting period

    Hi All,
When I am trying to post goods issue
for material 1 I get the following error log
Posting only possible in periods 2002/11 and 2002/10 in company code .
Then,I tried to update posting period using transaction code MMPV BUT INVAIN.
    Please help.
    Regards,

    Hi Neelam,
    1. Go to t.code OB52 there u change the period for your  Code for XXXX
2.Then go to OX18- remove the Plant and Cocd assisngment(remove all the plants and pls make a note of those plant code later u may need it and save it.
3.Go to OMSY,here u give the period from and to(whichever period u want to post n to)
4.Now again go to OX18 (Plant and Cocd assisngment) here u assign the plant to cocd (all the plant which u have removed/disassigned in the step 2. then save it and come back.
5.Now go to VL02N for Picking and PGI here u can be able to the same.
Please check and revert back.. if it works
Reason for doing above mentioned steps :
As we can't initialize the company code in this case due to the existance of material valuation records, we are required to do this. This should be taken as work around solution for problem posted in this thread. Normally we come across these kind of problems in sand box or testing server environment.
Once the system is in productive operation, we normally run the period
closing program once a month at the beginning of a new period. This
program sets the new period, making it possible to perform goods
movements with reference to the new period.
In real time this will be handled by MM consultants as they own this area

  • Posting Period cut off

    Hi SAP Gurus,
We have this situation, we are a manufacturing plant. Production is under shifting mode. We have two shifts A and C shift. A is 7AM-&7PM and C is 7PM-7AM.
Our Accounting and sales group (GL posting) want this cut off aligned to production cutoff in SAP posting period.
Would this be possible since when we do posting in SAP it captures system date and time? if possible, how is the procedures?
I appreciate any  any comments and suggestion.
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear Nikhil,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_470/helpdata/en/90/ba6609446711d189420000e829fbbd/content.htm
That a cutoff period is defined to protect the data of the previous period from being overwritten.
The cutoff period divides the life cycle of the production order into open and closed periods.
The work in process calculated up to the cutoff period is not changed the next time WIP is calculated.
The work in process calculated for later periods is overwritten by the current WIP calculation.
To prevent data that has already been posted from being changed, you usually define the cutoff period as the period preceding the results analysis period.
For a product cost collector, work in process is calculated in May, June, and July. The valuation for July should not change the work in process for May and June.
You set the cutoff period to period 06 and calculate work in process for results analysis period 07.
    Hope this will help.
    Regards,
    Naveen.

  • Problems with the posting period....

    Hi guys,
every once in a while the old problem with the posting periods occurs. This morning it hit me and I went out to repair it.
Starting out from MMRV I checked the open period and it said 062009.
Using MMPV, by mistake, I opened 112009, so that I'm able to post to 112009 PLUS the previous period 102009 (which is ok so far). Later on I checked OB52 to see, if finance is not the problem. The opened period lasts from 012009 to 122009.
Long story short: everything seems perfectly alright, however it still doesn't work. It says: Posting only possible in periods 2009/11 and 2009/10 in company code 1000
I don't see where there could be a problem now...
    Any help is greatly appreciated!
    Thx & regards,
    Bobby

    SHD0: http://www.mortenhjorthnielsen.dk/Security/transactionvariants.htm
If oyu have knowledge of Transaction variant then you can use SHD0 tcode and generate the transaction using defualt type and give that transction to user instead of ME21N so they will not have the issue.
The exact solution for your problem is as follows
Go to Tcode SHD0 and enter the transaction variant
In T code field enter MIRO and then enter the ZMIRO or the name you want to keep in transaction variant field and hit create button
This will take you to MIRO transaction and here you just post the invoice but make sure you enter the House bank key whic you want to default.
Once you finish system will save this one as a variant
Every time you hit or enter the pop up screen comes here you just hit enter and which ever data you want to default that you have to select in the Popup by checking the Box
W content and output only for your case the field XXXXXXXX should be selected for W content and output only
Make sure you have value 1 in contents field
If not then restart the variant again and on the MIRO screen reselect the invoice field
Later exit and save (save in the object which you can transport)
Then from SHD0 transaction select GOTO create variant transaction and here you careate the tcode and use that tcode for MIRO

  • OMSY - Posting Periods

    Hi All,,,
The Current Period of the Fiscal year is 3/2008.  But the Periods has been closed of the Periods 04/2008
& 05/2008. So now we are unable to post it in the period 3/2008.
Is there is a way to reverse it and get back to the same. In OMSY i tried changing it but it says the Period
    cannot be initialized.
    Please give your inputs...
    Thanks

Just check the SAP notes 487381 (for the error message that you are receiving) and the 369637 (for an explanation about the inconsistencies that will be generated.
Other way of doing it is follow these steps (Do not try in running System only try in Sand box for trials):
    1. go to OX18, and delete the plants assigned to your CO.Cd and save.
    2. Go to OMSY and change the posting period to the one u want and save.
3.Go to OX18 and assign the plants you have deleted in step 1.and save.

    Hi,
NOTE: Involve also FICO Consultant and collect all the documents before proceeding.
MMRV: to check which period is open & also set back posting allowed,
    MMPV: to open the period.
It is possible to re-open a previously closed period. However, it is NOT advisable to do so because the valuation data of the previous period could be affected.
In general, it is only safe to reopen a previously closed period when no material postings have been done after the period shifting to the new period. If there has already been a posting after the period shifting to the new period, reverting the period back will cause database inconsistencies in the history tables.
If you decide to proceed with this process, you can use the program RMMMINIT, but, please review the documentation of this program first!! and the check the SAP notes 487381 (for the error message that you are receiving) and the 369637 (for an explanation about the inconsistencies that will be generated.
    Steps are as below;
    Go to Transaction Code SE38
    Enter program name RMMMINIT
Execute or press F8 function button
Enter your company code (From and To)
Enter relevant date: Say 01/02/2008 for Feb. 2008 month to be opened as of now
That means, user can post for the month of Jan 2008 as well as Feb.
    OR
NOT ADVICEABLE THIS METHOD, ONLY TRY IN SANDBOX NOT IN RUNNING SYSTEM
    1. Use t.code:OX18, and delete the plants assigned to your CO.Cd and save.
    2. Use t.code: OMSY and change the posting period to the one u want and save.
    3. Use t.code:OX18 and assign the plants you have deleted in step 1.and save.
