PLAR connection on an SRST
I have a question. I have limited VOIP training and mainly do network design and installs but have to configure some of the VOIP equipment. If our SRST 29xx routers are in normal mode (not SRST mode) and someone calls inbound on one of the numbers I have set up for a 911 callbacks, the plar connection works and the call is routed to the phone number that I have placed on the plar. At this point however there are no ephones listed on the SRST since it has not gone into backup mode and therefore the phones have never registered with it. I do however have dial peers set to our dual call managers. My question is what is the process that is taking place that is allowing the call to find the mac of that phone? It seems that call managers are supplying the info but I am guessing. Thanks
Hello,
Auto learning will take care of this, please check the link below:

Thank you,

Is it possible to monitor a PLAR line from a third phone? Putting the third line in parallel with one of the PLAR phones does not work (works one direction, but not the other). Is there a type of bridge that would allow this?
Manually monitoring PLAR is only possible.

I read about srst being implemented on remote sites cluster over WAN, where WAN connection goes down to the main CUCM cluster then srst will kick in on the remote sites for the remote phones
1) Now if I only got a single cluster cucm and one cucm on the single cluster, is it advisable or ok to configure srst on that single cluster so that IP phones can still call each other , NDD and IDD when cucm goes down?
2) Also if srst has kick in and after a while the cucm on that single cluster goes online again, how long will the phones in srst mode shift back its registration to cucm? Can that period of time be adjusted like shorten it?Hi
It's good to configure SRST if you need High Availability incase remote site looses connectivity to central CUCM (one node or multiple node cluster). Remote site phones will register to local SRST Router and will be able to make and receive calls (but IP Phone may not have all the features in SRST compared to while registered to CUCM).
An IP phone that connects to the SRST over a WAN reconnects itself to CUCM as soon as it can establish a connection with CUCM over the WAN link. However, if the WAN link is unstable, the IP phone switches back and forth between the SRST and CUCM. This situation causes temporary loss of phone service (no dial tone). These reconnect attempts, known as WAN link flapping issues, continue until the IP phone successfully reconnects itself to CUCM. These WAN link disruptions fit into two classifications: infrequent random outages that occur on an otherwise stable WAN and the sporadic, frequent disruptions that last a few minutes.
To resolve the WAN link flapping issues between CUCM and SRST, CUCM provides an enterprise parameter and a setting in the Device Pool Configuration window that is called Connection Monitor Duration.
The default for the enterprise parameter specifies 120 seconds. Use the enterprise parameter to change the connection duration monitor value for all IP phones in the CUCM.

Migrating E&M immediate start from 2821 VGW to AS5350XM but problems with signalling
Hi,
We currently have 2821 VGW platforms running E&M Immediate start. The T1s go into the DACS and the IP interface connects to the SIP server with a simple number plan.
So, when a T1 DS0 signals, the VGW talks to the SIP server, the SIP server does a database lookup and talks back to the VGW and passes the connection details.
However we are now migrating to the AS5350XM platform and replicating the config from the 2821 to the AS5350XM is causing signalling issues.
Here is a sample of the existing 2821 config:

What I did notice was the following:
1) When defining loop open and loop closed custom bit configuration is different....on the 2821 you do it on the voice port. On the AS5350, it is not supported on the voice port but appears to be configurable via the T1 controller. I'm not sure if the AS5350 needs any further E&M signalling configuration as the problem lies in the signalling....the AS5350 when the line is cleared down appears to start ringing it again and not following the signalling pattern.
2) When doing a "show voice port" on the AS5350XM does not show E&M signalling, whereas it does on the 2821:

Can anyone advise if further configuration is required on the AS5350XM in order to pass the E&M signalling correctly ?Well for me the forms were ok to open with 11g, just had to correct differences and recompile to run.
That there script is a ton of help!..well you forgot to mention the Output_File parameter, but I could find that myself now that I knew what to look at. Now if I could also set it not to produce .err files when everything went fine and to set the output names so that the old compiled forms get overwritten..
the SRW.* calls turned out to be things used in Reports, so it was hopeless to compile in forms..but also not needed
as for ENABLE_ITEM and DISABLE_ITEM I found these to use as their definitions in a library, that proved sufficient.
procedure enable_item
( p_menuName in varchar2
, p_menuItemName in varchar2
) is
v_menuItem menuitem;
begin
v_menuItem := find_menu_item(p_menuName||'.'||
p_menuItemName);
if (not id_null(v_menuItem))
and (get_menu_item_property(v_menuItem,visible) = 'TRUE')
then
set_menu_item_property(v_menuItem, enabled, property_true);
end if;
end;
procedure disable_item
( p_menuName in varchar2
, p_menuItemName in varchar2
) is
v_menuItem menuitem;
begin
v_menuItem := find_menu_item(p_menuName||'.'||
p_menuItemName);
if (not id_null(v_menuItem))
and (get_menu_item_property(v_menuItem,visible) = 'TRUE')
then
set_menu_item_property(v_menuItem, enabled, property_false);
end if;
end;Some forms still playing with me, but the compilation issues there don't seem to be connected with this topic..and now I got issues with reports >.< but that requires a topic elsewhere. Thanks all! -

Can you help on this, why my FXO is not working?
Even when I call the the line the line rings but on the CME the extension plar does not start ringing.

Best Regards,
Jose Carlos SilvaHi Jose,
Firstly is this a UC-500 based CME? I am not aware of a 8.5 version for the UC-500 unless this is a pre-production release, as far as I am aware the UC-500 is only supported up to 8.1 at this stage.
It would also be good if you could provide a copy of your running configuration (With sensitive data removed like usernames and or passwords and peoples names and numbers), this will help us in understanding the system configuration.
It also seems that the system has not been configured with CCA as there are no identifying markers in the configuration you posted that would indicated this was a CCA build, which leads me to think that this is a CLI build right??
I am personally not very ofay with the Portugal carrier setup so I best not post up a configuration of what the Voice-Port looks like as it might not be compatible with your local carrier, but I am curious as to why your FXO ports start at 0/0/0 typically on a UC-500 system they would start at 0/1/0 as the first 4 voice ports are normally reserved for FXS (Unless of course this is different for your region), which again makes me wonder if this is a UC-500 system or maybe an ISR (2800 series or above)??
Please post up your configuration it will help out a tremendious amount.
Cheers,
David. -
To configure VOIP for this 2FXO card
We are having one Cisco 3640 Router with One Serial Port and 2FXS(2nos) Voice card. We have configured the 2FXO card to the best of our knowledge. These 2 ports are configured in EPABX. Now we are able to get the dialtone but we are unable to make calls to US . Kindly let me know the commands to configure VOIP for this 2FXO card.

Calling from FXO ???
Hello,
I have a question, just to confirm something, here is the scenario:
A customer has a connection between a 3640A router and a Definity PBX using Analog signalling: FXO ports in the Router, and Station lines in the PBX.
This 3640A router is connected to many 1751-V routers in a Hub&Spoke connection. In these remote locations there are FXS ports connecting directly to analog phones.
For I have done before, I know that the behavior of this network should be as follows:
1) The remote sites could call to the central site to an extension or to the PSTN.
2) The remote sites could call to the others remote sites as well (IP routing is being used - Full IP connectivity)
3) The Hub site users CANNOT dial to the remote sites because the central ports are FXO and those ports do not provide a dial tone. I think the only way the users form the central site can dial to remote sites is using static PLAR connections from each FXO port to a remote site.
For points 1) and 2) I am pretty sure it works, BUT the customer just told me that they can dial to the Spokes using FXO ports with other routers...
If this can be done ... do I have to configure something in the cisco voice-port OR in the PBX ???
TIA
Regards!!!When the Hub calls to the extension where the FXO port of 3460 is connected this port opens automatically, giving the opportunity to mark the remote voip dial peer. Once the caller port (a telephon set connected to extension port or a call from CO line) is closed, the FXO port will close too, and so will remote the FXS port. You wont have any problems.
However, by definition you can use the PLAR connection to only one (and from only one) remote destination. Finally, you may experiment ring back problems. -
Connection PLAR on FXS port 2821
I have an anlog phone that is located by the main gate. The phone has been extended and terminated into an FXS port on a 2821 router. I am trying to configure a connect PLAR on he FXS port, so that when the phone goes off-hook it dials an internal VoIP extension.
I am not having any luck. Any help would be appreciated. My config is below:

can you do connection plar on t-1 voice channels.
we have a scenerio where we need to be able to pass calls from unique T-1 voice channels to unique extensions in a remote site.

Connection PLAR on WS-X6624 module
How do you do this on the FXS port. Similiar method on IOS is connection PLAR at the voice-port. How do you do it with CAT OS?
Hi -
There is no PLAR specific config as far as the CatOS is concerned (assuming your 6624 is properly registered with CM).
Here is how you do it with CM:
1) Create a new partition for the PLAR (i.e. Loading Dock PLAR PRT)
2)Create a new search space for the PLAR (i.e. Loading Dock PLAR SS)
3)Add only the PLAR PRT to the new search space
4)Create a translation pattern using NO digits in the translation pattern field. Put it in the PLAR PRT and give it the appropriate search space. In the called party transformation mask field put in the phone number you want the PLAR to ring to.
5)Create an extension on the 6624 that has uses the new PLAR search space
6)done!

Setting up PLAR with Cisco Unity Connection Call Handler
This is a lab setup and Im doing it to learn. No customer involvement.
Setup
Analog phones - FXS Port - 2951 Router - FXS port - FXO Port - 2951 Router - CUCM 9 - UC 9
|------------PSTN Emulator-------------| |-----MGCP GW----------|
I have a CTI Route Point configured as DN 7000 and it has the default VM profile. The CTI RP is set to FWD All to VM.
The FXO port is set to PLAR to 7000.
When I dial from the PSTN analog phones through the FXO port, I hear the first ring, the FXO port answers, then I hear what sounds like the recorded message beginning to play. Immediately after, I hear the recorded message "You cannot be transferred to this number. Check the number and try again."
I dont do anything and within a second or two, I hear the recorded message for the system call handler start.
I did some more testing. I added an E1 trunk between the PSTN and the MGCP gateway. In the CUCM, I created another CTI Route Point with a DN that I could dial from my PSTN cloud. I also set that CTI Route point up to Call FWD all to VM.
When I dial using the E1 trunk, the call hits the system call handler as expected and I hear my recorded greeting (as expected).
However, calling through the FXS-FXO tie line consistently gets me the error message recording followed by my recorded greeting.
Im currently using loopstart on the tie line, though I have also tried ground start with no difference.
Any ideas?
JeffIf I understand correctly, you want outside calls to go directly to the call handler but internal calls to ring whatever phone this extension is on.
If I am understanding correctly, then this will probably resolve it. For the purposes of the explanation I will assume that extension 1000 is the number in question:
Create a new partition, we'll just call it ToVM or something like that
Create a new CTI route point with extension 1000 and put it in the ToVM partition, forward all calls for this CTI route point to voicemail
If you don't have one already, create a calling search space for the voice gateway. Call it Gateway-CSS. This should have the same partitions that the gateway can normally call, but it should also have the ToVM partition and that partition should be HIGHER in the list than the partition that has the normal extension 1000 on it.
Apply Gateway-CSS to the gateway
Configure the normal extension 1000 (not in the ToVM partition) the way that you want it to work.
Now when external callers dial 1000 they will go to the call handler because that partition is higher in the CSS and the CTI Route point should be hit first. Internal callers will ring the phone (or whatever it is) because they only have access to the regular internal partition (and not ToVM) that 1000 is in.
This is all assuming that I understand you correctly! -
Hi all,
I have the folowing situation:
I have configure a 2821 mgcp gateway on CM 5.1.2 with EVM-8FXS/DID. On the fxs I only have configure a CSS and the prefix field. Afther i pick up the fxs phone the CM dials the prefix number and the is made sucessufly. If for same reason the called number disconect the call and the calling phone stays off-hook the fxs phone keeps calling the prefix dn every 3 seconds. Is there any way for the callmanager not do dial the prefix dn from the hot line if the hot-line stays off-hook.
ThanksThat is how its designed. Unless the fxs port goes on hook it will keep placing the calls. There is a feature in the VG248 that says
Port busy signaling invoked softkey event
which stops the vg to place a call unless a softkey event end call is received. -
Jabber and SRST???
Cisco,
I'd like to see if proper SRST support for Jabber is coming to CUCM and IM&P, or if the community is going to continue to be limited in this area? In its current iteration, Jabber is only SRST capable if an active connection to IM&P remains in place. In most cases, this is a catch 22, as increasingly remote environments and users, if losing connectivity to CUCM, lose connectivity to the colocated IM&P server as well. That limitation makes absolutely no sense at all.
Many customers these days are looking to cut costs, and with the advances in application capabilities and feature sets, many are going softphone only and doing away with desk phones altogether. I have one such customer in the early stages of their BE deployment right now. They wish to use Jabber only, but require SRST at their 10 remote site locations. Because of the, frankly, ridiculous caveat in Jabber, this is proving to be a serious issue for the deal.
Our only option for softphone failover is IP Communicator. Why would an aging platform that is no longer the standard or direction that Cisco is pushing be the only option for softphone failover? If Jabber is the new standard, its feature set should at least be comparable to what was, and provide for phone mode only SRST capability. At this point, I now have to configure and maintain inert CIPC devices in CUCM for use on the off chance a remote site circuit goes down. Add to that the overhead for management, user turnover, and additional training on a platform that users will infrequently use, and it adds up to a lot of lost dollars in time.
This has been an issue since Jabber's release, and a hot topic on the forums since the early versions, and still goes unresolved. I believe that this is a very worthy feature for Cisco to address (and more useful and silly things like popup chat windows and toasts) and I'm disappointed that the community's pleas have gone unanswered.
Can we please please get this on the roadmap?! Thanks!
JimmyI haven't gotten any info pointing toward a full resolution on the roadmap. What I have learned from a Cisco contact is that Jabber will continue to function if its running when the connection to IMP and CUCM are lost, however, if Jabber is closed, any subsequent login attempt after that, while CUCM and IMP are down, will fail. Of course, this isn't a very viable solution for a customer. Here's what we're doing for failover with Jabber only environments.
We're are installing redundant WAN circuits at each customer location that Jabber can then use for MRA registration back to CUCM and IMP at the two locations where the severs reside. That gives complete redundancy across the sites from the two HQ server locations all the way out to the branch office.
Thanks

Site to site VPN re-connection issue
Hi I done site -to -site VPN between two UC 560 and I am able to make call too. Both site I am using DDNS FQDN. Now I am facing these problems,
1. When ever any of the site gone down , it is taking around 45 minute to get reconnect the VPN.
2. With in 2 minute Dialer interface is getting WAN IP address from service provider and it is updating with Dyndns also. But while checking crypto session details from my local UC I can see the peer address is not changing or showing none.
please help me to overcome this issue

i'm not familiar with Bordermanager version but be sure you're using 3.9
with sp2 and sp2_it1 applied.
There are not specific documents that i'm aware that explains conf
between ipcop and bm but if ipcop behaves as standard ipsec device, you
can use as a guideline some of the docs that explains how to configure
bm with third party firewalls.
