Plasma tv

I have a 42" plasma tv that has started changing the input on its own quite frequently. I tried pulling the batteries from the remote and the problem continues to occur. I don't know if it's a bad wire with the input button on the tv itself or something else... Please help

Pretty much all TVs have that option.

  • Using Mac Mini dvi to vga on an Philips plasma

    Hi
I have an Philips plasma tv that dosn´t have an dvi. So I use the vga instead.
But I get the message non supported picture format. Sorry for my bad translation från swedish. The tv is an Philips 42PF9945. Please if any one can help me

If you have a second Mac or a PC at your disposal on the same network as the mini, I suggest you try making a VNC connection between the mini and the second computer. In this manner you can control the mini remotely and make different selections in Display Preferences on the mini from the other computer. Hopefully you will be able to find a resolution that will cause the screen to come to life.

  • Issues With Using a 50" Plasma as a Monitor.

    Hi there,
I'm using a brand new Mac Mini (just bought less than 3 hours ago) with my 50 inch plasma (th-50pz80u here are the specs: http://reviews.cnet.com/flat-panel-tvs/panasonic-viera-th-50pz80u/4507-6482_7-32 887126.html ) but when I connect it via a mini DVI adapter to DVI-to-HDMI cable to my TV, I get a image that's too big (menu bar and lower dock are missing) with overscan, or too small (I get black bars on the sides, and the top) without overscan.
I would like the output to be 1080p and completely fit my display. Can anybody help me with that?
    Thank you.

  • How do I connect my Samsung Series 8000 plasma tv to my 27" imac

How do I connect my Samsung Series 8000 plasma tv to my 27" imac (2.8 GHz Intel Core i7) to use as a display?

Here you go (no financial or other interest in this web site or company):
    http://www.kanexlive.com/iadapt51
I believe we have the same model of iMac (late 2009) in which unfortunately Apple did not provide audio signals in the mini-DisplayPort out port.  This Kanex adapter will pick up your audio as well as the DisplayPort signal and combine them in an HDMI signal that you plug into the Samsung HDTV.

Hi there. I also bought an iWires mini Display port to HDMI cable and have an LG LED/LCD TV. I plugged it in to my MB Pro and followed the very small writing that came in the package and got both audio and video going. You need to change the audio settings from within System Preferences on your Mac to select your TV as the audio output.
My concern is the data latency - do you experience a delay between moving your mouse on the MBPro and the TV displaying the movement? It is only a fraction of a second, but certainly enough to be annoying, especially in a cable as expensive as the iWire.

Assuming your MBP is a recent model, i.e. bought in the last couple of years, and that your TV has HDMI inputs (if you've bought it new then that's a safe assumption) then you need a mini-displayport to HDMI cable.  The Apple Store sell one:

  • How to connect a plasma panel digitally to Qosmio F10-130

    Hi,
I just orderer the F10-130 and I would like to connect my plasma panel with a digital video signal. The monitor has a DVI input, and the F10 has a so-called "D-Video out" interface that I've never seen before. What's the best way to connect the two devices? I know that VGA Sub-D or S-Video should work, but IMHO this is not state of the art. Does an adapter D-Video to DVI exist?

    Hi marsu
D connector port on Qosmio you can connect to SCART port on TV. The cable is provided with Qosmio notebook. Sorry but I think there is no possibility to connect it to DVI port on your TV.
Only thing that you can do is to ask some experts in electronic store if there is some solution for this issue.

  • How would I connect my Macbook to a new Plasma tv?

I have an Intel Macbook which has a mini-DVI output, and I can connect it via a mini-DVI to DVI cable into the plasma telly I already own. This gives me a 1024x640 resolution on my plasma.
However, I have been looking to upgrade my plasma to a new HD one, and have been looking at the Pioneer pdp-4280xd. This has all the usual connections (3xhdmi, component, s-video etc) as well as a PC input, which is SXGA. According to one website, SXGA can throw out a resolution of 1280x1024. However this telly only has a pixel res of 1024x768. Regardless, according to the Apple website, it states my Macbook mini-DVI connection only supports DVI, VGA, S-Video, and Composite (blahh!!). So I am assuming then, that my Macbook won't be able to send a signal through the SXGA port, correct?
If that is the case, how else is best for me to connect my Macbook to a new telly like this one? Can I connect via a HDMI port? I have read S-video is not as good as using a DVI input, but there doesn't seem to be much choice if there isn't a DVI or VGA input available. And if I do connect via S-video, in this telly's case, I am assuming I can only get a max res of 1024x768 (the tv has rectangular pixels to give it a widescreen aspect).
Is it best for me to wait for a 42" plasma which has full HD resolution so I can have better res with my Macbook connected? And how is best for me to connect it with all these new tv ports?
    Thanks for any advise.

    Hi,
Maybe the Apple TV would be the most elegant solution. However you have posted your question in the wrong forum so not likely to get any answers here.
    best of luck,

    Hello Pattayamad,
    About your question:
Hi...I'm so confused!!!!....please can someone advise me......Been reading all the posts on this.....What is the best way to Connect G20-139 running Vista Home to a HD Plasma?????........
Right now you will not be able to connect your Qosmio g20 to a high definition TV. Not because the Qosmio, but because you are running Windows Vista on it. The actual nvidia drivers are not working properly to enable the Scan progressive output to your Plasma TV. You can use only the Svideo output, which is not so good. Lets wait for the new graphic drivers for the geforce go6600.
Can i buy a D-video to HDMI cable (searched the net but not sure on what i'm looking for in a cable...LOL).....any help please....i'm no expert!!!!
No, there is not a D-video to HDMI available. You can use the D-video to component cable (red, green and blue RCAs) or you can buy the SCART adapter to component, and use the cable supplied with your notebook (D-video to SCART) with this adapter.
but , if you want to output Scan progressive resolutions with the video component cable, you must use the windows media Center 2005 OS. Not working with Vista.

  • Using a Plasma TV as a Monitor

OK, I have a Panasonic plasma and the Apple mini dvi to vga adapter. when connected, my MacBook recognizes the plasma. I can't get mirror to work, but I can select the Plasma and run front row. How do I mirror?

    Hey Tony,
Heres an article on how to do it if you don't have any peripherals connected:
Use A Macbook With The Main Display Off
But if you do have a keyboard, mouse, etc, you can just shut the screen and use the TV as your primary, and the Macbook will keep on chugging!

  • Hooking up MacBook to 50" Panasonic Plasma?

I am using the Apple mini-dvi to vga adapter along with a 6' vga cable to hook up my macbook to my 50" panasonic plasma (full specs: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Specifications-of-Panasonic-50-Plasma-HDTV-TH-50P Z700U/sem/rpsm/oid/175537/rpem/ccd/productDetailSpecification.do#tabs)
My problem is that only half (maybe even less) of the listed resolutions for the external display (TV) seem to work. None of them take up the entire screen, and none of them look good. Image is shifted, fuzzy, cropped on top and bottom. OS X does not list 1920x1080 as a supported resolution for the TV.
Can anyone shed some light on this situation for me? I don't really know what i'm doing here!

    Hi Mike,
If I am not mistaken apple stated that macbook support up to 23" external lcd using 1440 x 900 resolution.
Some user managed to go over 23" and slightly higher resolution. But if the screen doesn't run on its native resolution it will become fuzzy as you described earlier.
Try mini dvi to dvi and get one of the dvi to hdmi adapter like this http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=3570, and you might get some luck.
    Good Luck.
Do consult your panasonic or circuit city guy before you decided to give mini dvi to dvi with adapter a shot.

  • Proper settings for my mini and my Panavision Plasma?

Today I got a brand new Mac mini. I had hoped to connect via HDMI to my 46" 1080P Panasonic Plasma. Unfortunately I was short an HDMI port. Fortunately my TV came with a VGA port. So I picked up an adapter from Apple (mini DVI to VGA) and I'm in business.
In Display settings when I choose "Detect Settings" nothing seems to happen. The default display setting seems to be 1024 x 768 at 60 hz. Knowing that I have a 1080P I decided to try the only setting that appeared on the list that ended in 1080P (1920 x 1080P at 60 hz) and the screen went blank.
So back to 1024 x 768 the picture looks okay. It's very slightly fuzzy. Maybe it would better to use the word 'Soft' instead of fuzzy. But I'm sure my TV is capable of much more.
So the big question is, what is the native resolution of a 1080P plasma? What settings should I be using? Shouldn't my mini auto detect the proper setting?
    Thanks,
    Bear

I'm having a tuff time determining the stated resolution using a pc input. Being a geek, first I searched for my models manual. I found a manual for the same model only 42" instead of my TVs 46". And in that manual I found the max res from the PC input is 1280 x 1024.
So I got my fat A_s out of the chair and checked my own PAPER manual hoping that the larger screen might have a different max res. Well my manual was made on the CHEAP. It's missing about half of the info of the one I found online at Panasonic. NO WHERE in the manual does it list any resolutions for use by the PC input. Further my specific model is not even listed on the Panasonic website. Apparently I own a red headed step child.
No haven't yet plugged 1280 x 1024 into the settings. I still don't understand why my TV is not auto detected. But now I'm reconsidering purchasing an HDMI hub. I guess I'll have to sleep on it.

  • IMac video through AV amp to Plasma?

Hi folks, I was wondering if anyone has any advice on the following problem I'm having.
First of all the kit I'm using:
Intel Core Duo 2 iMac (17 inch),
    Denon AVR-1906 AV Receiver,
    Panasonic PWD8 42' Plasma,
Apple mini DVI to VGA adapter,
    VGA to Component Video Lead.
I'm trying to connect my iMac to the Denon AV amplifier to feed the video signal out of the iMac via the mini DVI to VGA to the component-in on my AV receiver then to my plasma.
So far I'm drawing blanks as when I connect the mini DVI to VGA adapter to my iMac, the iMac isnt seeing a display as connected (even though its connected at the other end to my AV receiver which is on and connected to my plasma).
Anyone know if this works or should I just remove the AV amp from the connection and go straight from the iMac to the plasma (which I know works)?
    Thanks!

Thanks for that, that makes sense, the more I think about them ore I think its not going to work.
As the VGA cable connected to the iMac (via DVI) is using only 3 of the D sub pins (one for red, green and blue) there's no way of the iMac detecting that there is a display connected.
Unless of course I can 'fool' the iMac into thinking something is connected, maybe at a software level. is this possible?

  • Cannot connect Mini PPC 1.42 GHz to Panasonic Plasma via DVI-to-HDMI-Cable.

Saw this question many times but never found a real Solution for that...
I'm trying to connect an old Mac Mini Power PC 1.42 to my Panasonic Plasma. Using the DVI out and an Adapter to HDMI.
In the Monitor-settings, I can see that the PPC found the TV. It is shown as "Panasonic TV" in the settings when I connect the cable. This, I can see while using Teamviever on my iPad, because the TV stays black. The TV does not seem to receive any signal actually.
Does anybody know what to do? I can't imagine there's no solution.
    Please help!!

Unbelievable but true! I've managed to solve the issue yesterday on my own.
For those who are interested and didn't find a forum that helped much, here is an easy manual:
Boot with normal Monitor using a normal DVI cable.
Start Teamviewer so you can follow the next steps on an iPad, iPhone etc.
    Unplug normal monitor.
Now use a DVI cable with HDMI at the other end.
Plug in Panasonic Plasma TV by using the above mentioned cable.
Now the plasma stays black, no signal arrives. Look at the iPad via Teamviewer and open monitor settings.
This should show that the Panasonic has now been found.
    Switch the resolution to 1280x720.
    Tataaaaa!
The Plasma TV now proudly shows the content of your Mac Mini PowerPC. Play with further settings in order to optimize the display width etc. Set the TV to 16x9 manually.
    Enjoy!
