Plastic film out of drive!

whilst using itunes recently and adding some cds to my library i ejected a disc which came out with a small piece of plastic film along with the disc, not exactly amused at this as my macbook pro also freezes after every update, anyone else had this problem or back to the shop does anyone think?!

Think I'm going to have to not happy about it and had it less than 6 month and hardly used it, have the plastic film to take along too.

  • Plastic film sticking out from glass iPhone 6

    Hi,
I picked up an Iphone 6 this past weekend, and when I got home I realized that a VERY small piece of plastic film is sticking out from "under" the edge of the glass on the face.  The film is only 1 or 2 millimeters in size.
Soft of thin film like sometimes "peels off" new electronics.  I would grab it and pull - but just in case, if anyone else has encountered this issue.
Is it safe to pull it off?
    thanks
    David

Personally, if you're able to, I'd take it to the Apple Store and let them remove it.  If they can't, they'll replace the phone.

  • Plastic film, to remove it or not ?

Hello,I have a problem.I just bought this printer and as suggested by the "scarcely clear" set up instructions, I removed the small rectangular plastic film that you find at the far left of the scanner surface. (the right blue arrow in the picture attached).Under that plastic film there is another smaller white plastic film that I let it in place. The problem is that if I want to scan some documents from the upper document feeder, the documents alway jam on place where the plastic film that I removed was.My question is : Is that right that I SHOULD remove that plastic film ? Only this one ?If I had NOT to remove it, it is possible to have a spare part ?Should I remove even the smaller white part ?If it is correct to remove it, how I should do to solve the jam problem ? I must say that the pdf file "HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M277 Setup Poster" is VERY unclear at this regard. ThanksBest Regards.

Hi @Aris1 , I understand that you are having issues with the paper jamming when using the ADF and you want to know which part of the scanner glass the film should be removed from it, since it looks like it is jamming in that location. I will certainly do my best to help you.
I checked on the Laserjet M277 in our lab and there is a white plastic film which looks like it is permanent on the right side of where the ADF glass is. But the one on the left side covering the left side of the glass would come off. I tested the copy function with the right side of the plastic on the unit and it didn't cause any paper jams.
I have provided a document for checking the ADF and doing a reset with the printer, to see if it will help.A 'Paper Jam' Error Displays for HP Color LaserJet Pro M252n, M252dw, MFP M277n, and M277dw Printers. This document is for cleaning the ADF. Go to Step 3: Clean the ADF rollers and the separator pad (M277 only). An 'Out of Paper' Message Displays and Printer Does Not Pick Up Paper on HP Color LaserJet Pro M252n, M252dw, MFP M277n, and M277dw Printers. If you appreciate my efforts, please click the 'Thumbs up' button below.
If there is anything else I can help you with, just let me know. Thank You.

  • Iphone 6 plus 128gb blue plastic sticking out from the brand new phone

I entered into a 24 mths phone plan and got the iPhone 6plus  128gb. I later discovered (after unboxing), a blue plastic sticking out from the phone (on the side). Anyone experienced the same thing before? Do you think I will get a replacement from Apple? The phone company told me to go to apple retail store. It is 1 hr away from where I live!!

I went to the retail store and they told me the mobile phone carrier should have just swapped it for me in store! So had to drive back to get it replaced at the original store.. o well at least they admitted that it was DOA and so they didnt ask too many qns as a result.
The genius at the store said that it is a leftover plastic inside the phone. It should have been removed during the manufacture but obviousky it was not.
    Thanks

  • Is there a plastic film on iSight Camera?

Hey everyone. I got my iMac recently, and my iSight seems just a little grainy. Is there like a plastic film on i or something? Or is there some way to adjust it(keep in mind this is a built in iSight). If you guys need a picture to judge it by, let me know. Thanks!
    Max

The whole computer is covered in a plastic shell inclueding the iSight. You may want to shine a light on it and look at it from an angle to make sure it isnt scrached or anything and most likely there is some dirt or dust on there so to be safe use an eyeglass cleaning cloth or very soft cotton cloth to whipe it off. If its smudged you can used eye glass cleaner or a soloution made from water and rubbing alcohol i think its like 1 part alcohol for 3 parts water you may want to check that one (Just research cleaning LCD screens I had to do the same for my old laptop) let me know what happens or how it turns out or if you have any questions and enjoy your iMac I have been loving mine.

    mitchytan92,
If you are referring to the thin plastic film that covers the screen and plastics as a protection method while it is in the box, yes, you can remove it.

  • Zero Out Hard Drive Question

I have been using my 27" iMac for various software testing. Now that my testing is complete I want to wipe the drive and start fresh. In Disk Utility there are many options to choose from when going to Erase > Security Options. Is there any benefit to Zeroing out the drive before re-installing Snow Leopard? Or can I just select the Don't Erase Data option and reinstall deleting the home folder when prompted. Does Zeroing out free any more space up?

no, there is no benefit to this at all. zeroing out is only needed to prevent data recovery. it serves no other function. apparently, it doesn't even map out bad blocks on the hard drive.
Or can I just select the Don't Erase Data option and reinstall deleting the home folder when prompted.
"don't erase data"?? there is no such option in disk utility. just erase the drive using the erase tab. this will erase everything on your hard drive. or better yet, reformat the drive using the partition tab. then quit disk utility and proceed with the install.

  • Video to film-out

I'm color correcting HD video for a film-out. I'm trying to preserve as much information in the blacks and whites as I can while increasing contrast.
How should I use the waveform in this particular situation? Is it safe to push tight onto the 100/0 marks in the waveform as long as I'm not going past them? What happens when transferring to film if you've crushed the blacks or pushed the highlights too far? Is it ok for a small amount of information to be lost?

Going to a film out out is an extremely sensitive and complicated process.
For a start you should really know waht stock you are printing back to? You should find this out and obtain a LUT (look Up table) that will emulate this stock on your grading monitor so you know exactly what the final product will look like.
What process are you using to go to film?
Have you calibarted and set up your grading environment properly - e.g applied the correct gamma and color space?
Are you grading in rec.709 color space to go back to film... if so you need to apply a lut so that you are viewing your material as it will appear on the final print. If not rec.709 what colorspace are you grading in - RGB etc
Essentially film has a much wider gamut and luma range than video - again eactly how much and how far you can push the material will be defined by the processes and stock etc you are printing back to.
You will be safe to go past 100 and below zero on the Waveform. Turn Broadcast safe of and see how far you can push the material - as it originated on HD video you will be limited by how far you can push it anyway as most of the information above and below will already be clipped anyway by the recording process (unless you are grading RED RAW files or some form of 4:4:4 HD Video).
Creatively there is no reason why you cant push the material past its clipping point - once a white clips for example all that will happen is that you will get a very bright area on the film with no detail. Just look at the myriad of stylised flash back sequences in the movies today that have savage contrast and clip the whites and blacks massively. Its a creative decision at the end of the day. Essentially though I would of thought you would want to retain as much detail as possible so taking the material to just the point it clips naturally is a fairly good (if a little heath robinson) guide.
I would contact a local post house and ask to speak to their Digital Intermediate specialist and obtain some advice and help before embarking on this too much further.
Film out is also expensive and no producer will thnak you for having to repeat the process to get it right.
    Good Luck
    JB

  • 1080i/25p to film out

    hello.
we're shooting with the HVX200 a feature film and the final will be a Film out (35 mm).
we will be using final cut studio for editing.
    question is:
when using the 1080i/25p mode (shooting progressive - recording interlace),
how does the final cut remove the pull down so we get the original progressive picture?
does it recombine the two fields or drop down one of them?
Our concern is to get the highest possible resolution for the film out.
    Thank you in advance
    Peace

I'm sure you've figured this out already as your most is a month old, but a great way is to finish all your post at 1080i/25p and then use Cinema Tools to convert to 24p at the end. The film will be slowed down and a little longer in length, but it's almost unnoticeable if you do a pitch change with your final audio. A lot of people work this way and it's your best option as you can keep the film as a 1:1 image ratio and not get into horrible looking pulldown conversions.

  • Out of drive space so cannot empty trash

Out of drive space so need to empty trash to make more space to work towards installing a bigger HD.  Any suggestions to force emptying of trash.  Can't turn File Vault off as out of HD space.  Catch 22......

Make a new folder, move most everything out of the Trash to that folder, try emptying the Trash a few files at a time. Do not try Secure Empty trash yet.

  • Tom -- why need to zero out new drive on format?

    Hi Tom,
Page 5, FCE workshop book, you recommend zeroing out a new drive. Why?
Is it sufficient just to reformat to Mac formats? I thought zeroing out was just necessary if you wanted to erase previously held data (to prevent recovery)?
Or is there a performance benefit to do so?
    Thanks.

Tom may have his own reason. Here is mine -
Zeroing out a new drive is plain old 'good practice.' It exercises the entire drive mechanism over an extended period of time by writing zeros to every location on every platter in the unit. This way your disk directory as well as all data locations are assured of being 'empty'. Doing this, especially to a new drive, will add to your confidence that your new drive is working properly.
If you just erase the disk, only the directory is emptied. This is like removing the table of contents page from a book, but the rest of the book is still there !
There is folklore that zeroing out the drive inspects the platter surface and identifies and sets aside unusable sectors. They are not the same processes. Modern hard drive technology and manufacture have progressed far beyond the level they were at in the 80's when low level formatting utilties that performed these surface scans were common. Today most drives can only be low-level formatted at the factory. For what it's worth, I have not found any confirmation that zeroing out via OSX Disk Utility performs surface scans; but there are third-party utilites like TechTool that can.

  • Migrating Information in Target Disk Mode Wiped out hard drive

I just helped a friend install Leopard on her new MacBook (it came with a drop in disk of Leopard). After the install, I started her previous 3-year old MacBook in target disk mode to migrate over old system settings. During the migration, the new MacBook froze up and forced me to do a hard restart. After restarting the computer, it would no longer recognize the old MacBook that was still in Target Disk Mode.
After awhile I finally decided to pull the hard drive out of the old MacBook and hook it up to my WiebeTech DriveDock. I now get a disk insertion error telling me that the drive is not readable. I have tried DriveGenius, but I cannot rebuild or repair the drive because it doesn't even pop up.
Has anyone heard of the migration assistance wiping out the drive you were attempting to migrate from? And also, does anyone know of a way to fix this?

She backed up with Retrospect a couple weeks ago, so not much would be lost if I wasn't able to resurrect this drive. The feeling of accomplishment from tackling this problem is the only truly important thing that would be lost.

  • Audio post for Film-Out

    Hi Guys,
I have been researching the workflow for creating a film-out from HVX200 and have pretty much sorted the visual side of it all.
    HVX200 Filmout Workflow
But I am now looking at the audio side of it all. I am totally new to this side of it and was wondering if someone could tell me the exact workflow to follow to accurately post the audio for a 23.98 project. Would it be better to use an audio post house?
Your help would be very much appreciated!

  • Zeroed out my drive -- why are 2 files still there?

I set my computer to zero out my drive over 7 passes last night. I just checked it and it appears that it worked -- it states that only 73.3 MB of the drive are currently being used by 2 files. What are these 2 files and how can they be there if everything on the drive has been erased?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Launch Terminal (in Applications/Utilities). type the following command (replacing "yourdrivename" with your drive's name - if you have spaces, you will have to escape them with a backslash "\" like: your\ drive\ name ):
    ls -al /Volumes/yourdrivename
You will see that there are two files (. and ..) that are required by Unix for every directory (folder). "." is the current folder, ".." is the next-higher-up folder in the tree.
    Required by Unix.
