Plastic Non-sticky Screen protector.

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this but I used to have a case that came with a thick sheet of bendable plastic that I could slide in and out with the case as a screen protector. I have since ordered the same case "Griffin Elan form Case with EasyDock for iPhone 3G, 3G S (Black)" and it no longer comes with the removable/slide able non-sticky screen protector. It came with a regular peel off and install screen.
Does anyone know where I can get my old screen protector? Please! I've been searching everywhere!

Mine doesn't feel sticky, of course it's been on for a year and a half or so.
I can suggest giving it a few days or so, see if you can get used to it.

  • Plastic screen protector necessary?

Is the plastic screen protector 100% necessary on the iPhone screen? I have one on but it has spots all over it when there is a glare from light. I want to keep my screen safe, but I don't want to have a dirty screen. What are some good options? Thanks!

I have a non glare screen that I like-However I offer the following true story. While at an Apple retail store I asked an employee "did I really need a glass protector". His response: He asked if I had a set of car keys, I did and he asked if he could use them. He then grabbed a new i-phone off the counter and proceeded to scrape the pointed end of the keys repeatedly against the unprotected i-phone screen. He then calmly wiped the screen with a polish cloth and invited me to examine it for scratches. Honestly I could not find a scratch and was surprised. PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS AS AN INVITATION TO TRY THIS ON YOUR I-PHONE OR ANY I-PHONE. I would however suggest that anything other than a non-glare cover MAY be a waste of money.

  • I can't get the plastic screen protector to stick. What am I doing wrong?

I bought the accessory kit with my new iPhone 4S yesterday. It contains four clear plastic screen protectors. I tried to put one on following the very minimal instructions "Remove this mask before application completed," and "Remove this mask after application completed." When I remove the "second mask" it appears the protector did not stick to the phone but seems to still be part of the second mask I removed. Are the little red broken lines supposed to remain on the phone? Am I supposed to wet it or something?

Maybe you did it opposite from the instructions? I'm not sure as I don't have the kit. I would check youtube for a video....it's a great resource for specific things like this. good luck!

  • Sticky residue from otter box screen protector

This is in response to the post about getting a sticky residue left by an otter box case for my iPad. I tried a cloth with warm water but that didn't work and I contacted otter box also and haven't received a response from them. Does anyone else have any suggestions on how to get rid of this residue without harming the screen? Let this be a warning NOT to put the supplied screen protector that comes with the otter box on your iPad.

I had a similar situation when I removed a screen protector (not otter box). Warm water applied to a soft cloth and a drop of dish detergent. Adhesive residue came off easily with no screen damage.

  • Using plastic film that came w/iphone as screen protector

I have been using the plastic film that was on the iphone screen in the box as a screen protector. Everything works the same with it on as off. I just cut the tab on the bottom off. The only problem is it covers the earhole and I just use my headphones or speaker on calls.

It's purely preference whether or not to use a protector, but here is a link to some testing that PC World did that you may find interesting:

  • IPad plastic screen protector

Has anyone used this and found it worthwhile?  Is it worth the $15 they charge?  (Or are the $2-knockoffs online good enough?)

I have never used either of my iPads without a screen protector of some type. On myniPad one - I used the ZAGG Invisible Shield - $29,95 + tax as I recall. On my new iPad, I use an Otterbox Defender case with a built in screen protector.
To me - it is an investment worth making. But that's just my take. Many users don't utilize screen protectors and are very happy going that route,
Bot the ZAGG protector and the Ottebrbox have kept my iPad screens in mint condition. Not a scratch on either screen. However, only you can decide what is best for your needs.

  • Q from a non-user to current users - menu, screen protector

    Hey there
Am in Hong Kong, so have a little longer to wait until the iPhone reaches us. Have two little questions for current users:
    1) Can you choose what items appear in the menu and in what order they are in? For example I would never use the "stocks" button and would prefer that it not be there if I had an iPhone. Or are you stuck with the menu as Apple created it?
    2) Is a screen protector necessary? I've seen a few messages saying that it wasn't, but I am one of those people who puts a screen protector on everything on day 1 - my phones, my nano... I pity my firstborn child, as I'll probably put one on them too. Just wondering whether people feel that a screen protector is needed or is simply unnecessary?
    Thanks
    NK

    1. No, you use it in the order Apple has them. It isn't a big deal because the buttons are so big and beautiful there's no problem finding what you want.
    2. It isn't really necessary. The screen is optical glass and if you look on some web sites people have tested in in a bag of keys, chains, dropping it, carrying it around in pockets for hours on end and there's no sign of a scratch. It's totally different from the iPods.

  • Can anyone recommend a glass or plastic screen protector that fits a Speck Candy Shell case?

Hi. Does anyone know if a glass screen protector will be too thick to fit the Candy Shell case? I really don't like the film options. I specifically want to get the Sir Lancelot's Armour glass protector.

Ive seen and played with most all the zippered strapped cases, and most all of them are awful.
it still ended up back at the Incase strapped case, very thin, but very well padded, well made and the perfect all around choice.
id recommend getting a like new used one for $25 on ebay rather than $60 new.  But as you wish.

$20 , Incase used like new , perfect choice.
    same case new is $60

  • A question about a screen protector

So one of the screen protectors for the Ipod Nano says, "Smooth, non-sticky surface with patented layer of UV protection to prevent "yellowing"" What does it mean by yellowing? Is the ipod screen kept from yellowing, or the screen protector itself?

  • Can I come into an apple store near me, buy an iPod Touch screen protector, and have a store employee put it on for me because I am very bad at putting them on.

Can someone tell me an answer?

I want to add that taking the inital measurement  you dont remove the sticky part until after you make you final measurement. Line the screen protector up, make a cut, then take final or adjusting measurements and make final cut. Then remove sticky back and place onto the screen. Be careful and slow lining up and placing the protector. Use a plastic credit card and smooth it on. Thats to keep air pockets from being displayed.

  • Screen protector recommendations

    hi all
Just wondering if someone can recommend a screen protector for my z3 compact?
I've currently go a sticky plastic one but I felt obliged to remove it (temporarily) and now it's caked in dust particles.
People have suggested i go for a tempered glass one but having seen positive reviews for ultimate shield, I promptly then found some disturbing reports of these screen protectors just self-chipping, self-cracking and/or criminal quality control errors like adhesive on the wrong side, etc.
Digging has turned up names like:
    ultimate shield
    nillkin
    MFX
    rhino shield
    Thanks for any tips/help/suggestions.
    Regards,
    Gary

Invisible shield by Zagg it's a good option.

  • Sgp oleophobic vs power support crystal screen protectors...

Ok ive had power support since thevery first iPhone came out...ive also used theanti-glare in certain times...ive also used body guardz and zagg...
Now i have a zagg full body minus the screen sheild inside the apple bumper for my iphone 4...
I already have the power crystal film on it...but i saw a screen protector with an oleophobic coating made by SGP...but then Power Support said their hard coat resists fingerprints too...
Do both of them have oleophobic coating then?

Ok...i recieved my sgp oleophobic protector...easy install like the power support...look somewhat clearer...after installing and removing the protective cover from the front of the protector...it felt like sliding your fingers on plastic wrap...it was not smooth...until i moistened the lint free cloth wipedit a bit...now it smooth as glass...i guess it had some left over sticky residue...now i can say its a bit better than power support...
This thing feels like the iphone screen, the power support felt plasticy a bit...plus i got the same oleophobic coating on it...awesome!!!

  • Best Screen Protector??

I just got an iPhone 4 and after reading some threads, I'm scared to take off the protectors it came with. People have said its been scratched from everything, from laying it on the table, to business cards, to empty pockets, etc. so i plan on getting a good protector but i don't want to ruin the display.
i'm looking for something that does NOT make the screen lose visual quality. does NOT make it feel plastic and cheap, slowing your finger down when trying to swipe across it. something that isn't sticky or bubbly or require a tool kit to cut and install
simply, i want to open the pack, peel off the protector, put it on my phone and not even notice its on there. now i know that's near impossible, but what screen p. can get me the closest please??

I received my Power Support crystal screen protector this weekend. I am a klutz and of course screwed up trying to place the first one so I'm glad they provide 2 in the package. Apply by taking off the middle section's backing first, positioning the film correctly over the screen, then removing other backing sections one at a time and allowing the film to SLOWLY roll onto the screen, adhering itself without any bubbles.
The crystal version feels exactly like the unprotected screen in use and does not distort iPhone 4's beautiful display. A few fingerprints but perhaps less than the unprotected screen, I had four small hairline scratches on my unprotected screen after a month's use so the protector is a vital accessory IMO.

  • Who is NOT using a screen protector?

I would like to hear from people not using any screen protector. Does your screen scratch up at all with normal use? I'd rather not apply one if I don't have to. I tried the one that came with my iSkin revo2 (the best skin case out there!), but I don't like it on there. The screen doesn't look as good as it does bare.

I never used a screen protector on my 1st generation iphone and never had any issues.
On my new 3g iphone - i did put on the invisible shield on the front and back. I didn't install it on the front to protect against scratches though - I installed it on the front as the invisible shield seems to GREATLY reduce the amount of finger smudges and smears - it made a huge difference in the amount of greasy fingers smears - works like magic, and it is also so clear that I really don't notice it on there.
I also put it on the back to keep the white plastic from getting scratched - it also has a slightly sticky feel to it - just the right amount which I like.
Best Buy sells the front side of the invisible shield for $15 - alot of money for sure but it's awesome. Check this vid on youtube - pretty darn strong

  • Anti-glare or crystal clear?   Speaking of screen protectors...

Looking at Power Support's protectors; also NuVue's.
What's the general consensus or advice on clear vs. anti-glare? Especially for ebook reading, text rendition?
I've had both types on my Palms years ago, but can't remember which I preferred! It might not apply to the iPad, in any event!

I have been using the Anti-Glare screen protector on my MacBook Pro from Green Onions Supply (their "AG2" line) and liked it well enough that I got one for my iPad. While there is slight distortion, it is much less than I have seen on other AG screen protectors on the market.
I particularly like that the backing on it is silicon, so you can remove it, wash it under running water, let it dry, and reapply it. The protector that I got for my iPad came with a "dust collector", which was basically a thin plastic sheet with a very mild stickiness...you clean your screen, apply the 'dust collector' and as you peel THAT up, you apply the AG2 screen. It was a little awkward at first, but (living in a house with 2 cats and 2 kids) I had less trouble with specks/hairs/dust bits than I have in the past.
After using the protector for a bit, fingerprints and smudges are very noticeable WHEN THE IPAD IS OFF (i.e. dark screen)...with it on, you can't see them at all. They do wipe off easily, also.
All in all, I'm quite happy with it.
