Platform Migration During EBS upgrade
Hi ,
We are planing to upgrade oracle apps from 11.5.10.2 to R12.1.3.
Currently Both oracle apps(11i) and DB(11gR1) are on IBM-AIX 5.3.
also planing for OS migration from AIX 5.3 to Linux x86-64.
So what would be the better option :
1. Migrate existing apps and db to Linux x86-64, then upgrade Oracle Apps to R12.1.3
OR
2. First Upgrade Oracle Apps to R12.1.3 and then do platform migration i.e AIX to Linux.

Is it feasible? Please suggest.Please do not post duplicates -- Upgrade EBS 11i(10.2.0.5) on HPUX to EBS R12(11.2.0.3) on linux

Oracle Sequence migration during an upgrade
Hi,
Firt of all Iam not a DBA, But we have a problem which I would like to know more about , we are planning on migrating to Oracle 8.1.7 from an older version and new Oracle Databases were created from the DUMP taken from old database..and when I was testing some functionality I found out that the SEQUENCES that were existing in the old database didn't get migrated to the new database...I had to create them inorder to test my application.
My question is does oracle sequences get created automatically in this situation or we need to explicitly create them, because mu understanding was that all the objects get created automatically when you create it from DUMP.
I would appreciate your help in this matter..

RamkiThe project module interfaces with a lot of other modules in Oracle (Purchasing, GL, costing, and possibly OM and Manufacturing).
For Projects implementation, you will have to test those modules.
If you don't implement projects now, you will have to do a full blown regression testing for the upgrade and then again for the Projects implementation.
The one disadvantage I see is that you will require more resources because you are doing 2 activities in parallel.

How to achieve this upgrade using Maintenance Wizard as the application servers OS will be changed during the upgrade?
Can you refer any document for the same?
I searched the forum but could not find anything related.
In the manual I see it is possible to set the platform when defining nodes, but it this meant/enough to also use this for a platform migration?

Edited by: Carlo den Otter on May 6, 2013 7:05 AMYes you can use Maintenance Wizard to upgrade and move to a different platform. The tool does not care that you are switching platforms. It will perform all the 11i steps on the old platform / server. When you get to the 12.1 portion, Maintenance Wizard will execute the steps on the 12.1 platform. So just define the 12.1 nodes using the new platform os and you should be fine.

Afer migration i have compiled forms for custom tops . I need to know is that I need to compile rdf's for custom top or not ?
I can't see any instructions in platform migration notes to compile reports (rdf) after migration .

Database 11gR2 Aix 6.1We are hosting multiple business suite 11i on server and and it's shared Appltop.
I have installed JDK 1.6 on /do1/java directory and future will be shared by all ebs apps. I have not installed jdk under comm top because it is shared appltop
if I use comm top I will ended up instaling l jdk only on one server. But another issue is If i have to upgrade jdk infuture ,that mean I need to failover all services.
Do you have such env where multiple business running on one server and how you handled jdk setup ?If you do not want to have one JDK installed and shared between the instances, then your option would be installing multiple versions of JDK (one for each instance). These directories can be on any mount point (which is not shared with any of the instances). Each instance will be having its own JDK60_TOP (or JDK_TOP) which denotes the top-level directory where the JDK is to be installed.

I've EBS (11.5.10.2) running on RHEL 5 32 bit, and I want to migrate EBS to OEL 5 (64bit).
I dont whether it can be called Cross Platform Migration(because both are linux flavors)
ThanksOracle EBS 11i is not certified on 64-bit for the application tier node, so you can migrate the database tier node only to 64-bit.
And, yes this is called split configuration since the application will be running on 32-bit OS while the database will be running on 64-bit OS.

Hi, i am making a migration of EBS 11.5.10 CU2 of Linux to AIX 6.1, and only i have a question about the documentation.
The steps are:
1) Generate and upload the manifest of customer-specific files
2) Create the Target System APPL_TOP
3) Clone the AutoConfig XML context file on the Target System
4) Install the Middle Tier Technology Stack
5) Apply the Oracle interoperability patches
In this step (5), i have my question, how can i apply the patch of interoperability?, i must execute: adpatch, but adpatch is a binary that is in APPL_TOP and the APPL_TOP is of Linux not AIX, so the executable doesn't run. How can i apply the patch so?

About the question no, in the Note of metalink even in a white paper of IBM the step 5 we must apply a special path a Metalink of compatibility for the new environment so in this case i need to apply the patch for my new environment in AIX.
So the readme of the patch says:

We are having issue with upgrading r/3 4.7 enterprise extension set to ECC 6.0
Here the error message goes....

to analyse the error during start of shadow instance

repeat phase until shadow instance is started
and u can logon instance no '01'"
We have changed the DDIC password during upgrade.after that we ran the initphase to update the password.
I think sapup is referring the old password which was entered initially during the upgrade and we dont remember the old password also.

The issue has been resolved by changing the DDIC password to what it was when we have started the upgrade.The password was "welcome" when we have started with upgrade after that it has been changed to
"basis05" during upgrade.we changed it back to welcome and it started working fine.
Here it took long time to find out what was the password when we have starte upgrade.Resetting to standard ddic password also ddint help out in our case.

Platform Migration Clarification

We are doing a platform migration of an E-Business R12.1.1 environment. We originally got to R12.1.1 by directly upgrading from 11.5.9.2 back in December, 2009.
Our source platform is: W2003 runs Apache and Forms, and "everything else" is on HPUX PA-RISC. Our target platform is HPUX Itanium. We will not be moving over our W2003 node; rather, the HPUX Itanium will do everything (that's the plan for now).
In following Metalink Note 438086.1, the last notation on Section 1 states: "if you have upgraded the tech stack components to higher versions than those included with the 12.0.4 install media, they will have to be upgraded..."
I would like to clairify what this means. My interpretation is that when we run Section 2, Step 6 "Install the Application Tier Technology Stack" that we are to use the R12.1.1 DVD media. Is this assumption correct?

Your assumption is correct. In addition to that, you will need to consider upgrading to the latest OracleAS 10g and Developer 10g patchset (_if applicable_) as per (Note: 454811.1 - Upgrading to the Latest OracleAS 10g 10.1.3.x Patch Set in Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12) and (Note: 437878.1 - Upgrading Forms and Reports 10g in Oracle Applications Release 12).
You could log a SR to confirm this with Oracle support.

BW platform migration Error - R3ldctl
Hello,
We are getting an error during our BW platform migration while running SAPINST to perform the export.
We are running BW 3.1 on Oracle 9.2.0.5
In one of the steps, R3ldctl is executed and we get the following error in the R3ldctl.log:

There is no indication of what is causing the error. Has anyone experienced this error? If so, how did you resolve it

Hello Kirsten,
I got a modified R3ldctl from our development (see link below).
I already sent the link to Brad Dillingham as well.
In the file, you will find the new R3ldctl 640/Oracle for AIX 64-bit:
The zip file includes the necessary dboraslib.o as well.
You should unzip the files and put them into the exe directory.
R3ldctlora has to be renamed to R3ldctl.
But make sure you have a backup of the old R3ldctl.
Short answer: get the latest patch for R3ldctl.
