Platinum Live

I have a Sound Blaster with the Li've Dri've. All worked well untill I upgraded from WinXP Home to WinXP Pro. Trying to reinstall the software for SB I get the message it is not compatible with my version of Windows. I went to Creative's Web site and loaded all the latest updates available for this sound card, but many of the Sound Blaster features still do not work. Is there a fix or do I have to get a new sound card, or go back to the older version of XP.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanx
Gary

Progress (of sorts). Went for the "clean sweep installation" (again). Downloaded the latest driver pack from Creative (again). But this time, before the "clean sweep", I actually renamed a number of files in %WINNT%/System32 and %WINNT%/System32/drivers so that Windows DEFINITELY can't re-use them.
This time, the driver update was successful. I can tell that because now, when I run the RemoteCentre driver update, it actually completes (where before it kept quitting, and telling me to update my sound card drivers).
So now I'm running latest drivers, plus am running latest version of Remote Centre. Now, on restart, Remote Centre starts at least (previously it'd just give me an error saying it can't find the remote control receiver).
Problem is that even though it's now starting and showing the remote control GUI on screen, after it starts I can't do anything with it. The remote control GUI disappears and I can't get it back. If I right-click on the RemoteCentre icon in the systray and choose "Configure RemoteCentre" it says........
"Unable to detect remote control receiver - please check to see if it is installed correctly".
I'm really at a bit of a loss now I don't have sufficient free hardare to build a Win98 machine to confirm that the hardware works and as far as I can tell that is the only way I can be certain whether it is dead or not. It definitely worked fine in Win98 - can't remember if I had it running in Win2k or not, though.
If anyone has any more ideas on how I can test the thing, please let me know. For example - when I remove the covers for SPDIF connectors, I can't see any lights - should I be able to see a red light to indicate the device has power, or is that a red herring?
Please help I promised a friend I'd rip his tape to CD weeks ago now. I haven't got a suitable cable to convert RCA jacks into regular "headphone"-style stereo jacks, and so can't plug into the card itself. **bleep** **bleep** **bleep**

  • 915P-Neo2 Platinum - Live Update Crashes

Is anyone else having trouble loading MSI's "Live Update", especially "Live Monitor" on the 915P Neo2 Platinum?  Every time I load it the entire system collapes in the Blue Screen of Death upon reboot.
I've tried loading Live Update from both the enclosed "Drivers & Utilities" diskette and from the MSI Website where the latest version of Live Update (I guess) is located.
Both crash my new system the same.  It just keeps looping at the Boot-Blue Screen-CRASH!-Boot-Blue Screen - CRASH!
The only way to recover is to do a Restore in Safe Mode.
Very disapponted with the 915P Neo2 Platinum board in general, i.e., the above reason and the slow, ragged - even sloppy - boot.
And if there is any advantage in these high-priced PCI-Express videocards that justifies the money, I can't find it.  My old 875P Neo (signature system) smokes this new 915P even with its ungodly high-priced DDR2-675 memory.
    Stay clear of 'em.

6Using an Audigy Platinum Li've Dri've bay with Windows 7` I bought this card/bay a long time ago:

Unfortunately the Li've Dri've panel, which was pretty much the entire reason I bought it, hasn't worked since I installed Windows XP years ago. Now I'm up to W7 64 bit and I'm wondering if there's any use trying to reinstall the hardware and make it work or if I should just get rid of it.
In XP and possibly in Vista I could get basic functions out of the card, but the EAX control panel didn't really work anymore. I used to use the remote control, plug in my guitar and use effects, etc. I'd really like to be able to do that again. Anyone know?

  • Windows 7 64bit with Audigy 2 ZS platinum - live recording work impossible

The only reason to own a SB platinum audigy solution is for recording work.
Why is Microsoft 7 in beta for a year and yet there are no workable drivers
for the recording features of this soundcard? I have the support release
of Home Premium which came out October 22nd.
The stable driver from Creative has no controls for level of the input. You can hear
the input pass through to the speakers at a fixed medium level,
but recording applications (e.g. audacity, etc.) cannot get the input signal at all.
The beta driver from Sept 2009 does support the levels for inputs such as Aux2
(guitar jack), but now the latency is way too high, and the sound is distorted. I have
tried a few input sampling rates other than the default but it appears to have
no impact on the latency. I think the latency is between 50 and 50 ms. It is
unusable. This latency does not occur on the same hardware and configuration
    dual booting to Windows XP.
If the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum is not going to be supported soon for all of the features
(minus game port) which worked in Windows XP, I would like a recommendation
for an alternate product which will be well supported in Windows 7.
Don't tell us to ask Microsoft when the drivers will be ready and working.
Microsoft is telling us to ask Creative Labs for this solution.

N I have the same problem! So frustrating!
Well, I did some digging for the answer to this, how fortunate that there is a solution!
If you disable then re-enable the Windows Audio service, it should fix it until the next time you restart your computer. (I only did it once, but you may have to do it more than once).

  • SB Platinum Live 5.1 and

I have a Compaq S500NX running Windows XP SP2 and now also have a Creative Soundblaster Platinum Li've 5. audio card and li've dri've. The Installation and Application CDs say they are incompatible with my operation system (Windows XP SP2) although when I just "open" the CDs I can manually select some files and install them. However, before I actually install the card and hook it up to the li've dri've panel, I would like to be certain that I have ALL the proper drivers and applications for XP. In reading the Forum problems, it looks like Soundblaster cards in an XP environment is a real disaster. I have not seen listing that solves the issue I am talking about here. Does anyone know if an "Installation" and "Application" CD exists for Windows XP? - or if there is a site that has a comprehensi've listing that is the equivalent of these CDs?

Well, I sent for the" Installation and Application Disk (Replacement CD)" and my Windows XP SP2 system liked it - it autoloaded and all of the software on the CD loaded without a hitch. The only problem is that the Li'veDri've STILL does not work (the "red" light is on) and the Remote does not work at all - none of the buttons/functions do anything.
What does it take to make your hardware work? I don't know what the percentage of folks who own Li'veDri'ves actually get them to work versus those (like me) who can't seem to get the hardware working (new hardware) - but the dicussion forum makes it seem like that there is a real problem here.
Could you point me to some areas where folks have actually got their hardware to work? Again I have a "Soundblaster Li've Platinum 5." card/li'vedri've setup. I consider myself to be a moderately advanced PC user - generally can troubleshoot/fix most PC problems - have built 2 from scratch successfully, but this thing is very frustrating, to say the least. I've checked connections, cables. swapped slots - and nada!
Is there any help out there????

  • Help, need a card compatible with the Platinum Live bay that uses the SB Live E400 midi dri

Help , have just got a used Soundblaster Li've Platinum card and i/o bay to ease in the production of backing tracks for li've gigs etc, my old card is a li've value soundblaster that uses a Midi driver called SB Li've E400 in addition to the Sb Li've A400 and the B400 which i used to assign soundfonts etc because they are not suitable for bass and drums ,very soft sounding but i need the Sb Li've E400 to get the loud and powerful drum and bass sounds so important for my work, the Platinum set has a card Model number sb0060 and the midi input driver is called MIDI UART with midi outputs being Sb Li've UART which results in no audio o/p if assigned to a midi channel and the Li've synth A and B ,similiar to my li've value card . my Soundblaster value card is a sb0220? allthough the Platinum card is great for plugging guitars straight in and the optical output is great for recording onto mindisc the sound quality is crap, not in the same class as my old li've value card? anyone got any ideas, dont know where to go next? Cheers George.

wouldnt put 2 sound cards in but you could try attaching the sb li've dri've to card, it will either work or it ownt, it will not work with remote, but it may just work as an io panle for your mid etc..
However if it was my hardware i would try as thats my right and my hardware i may break, so you would do this at your own risk.

  • 300w PS, 3.3v-24a, 5v-30a, 12v-12a Should I upgrade my Power Supply?

This post is a spin off of a couple of previous posts I started which raised a few new questions. Here goes: I have a 300w PSU (about 4 years old), 3.3v-24a, 5v-30a, 12v-12a. MSI VIA KM266 Pro, AMD Sempron 2500+, Kingston 256 Mb, Creative Platinum Live 5.1, HP CD burner, WD 80 Gb HD, using on board video for now. What I am wondering is should I upgrade my PS, or should I wait until I get a new Video card? Does my PS have what it takes? I have checked out a new 450w PS, and the rails weren't much higher: 3.3v-30a, 12v-17a. Does this make much difference? Any suggestions on a new PS, oh forum gods ?

  • After removing the "Live Security Platinum" virus, Firefox crashes every time I close it and it runs very slowly (v14.0.1). Is there any way to fix this?

Firefox doesn't exactly crash while I'm using it. The thing is that when I close it and reopen it, it says it crashed and offers to restore the previous session. To my knowledge, this didn't happen until after I had the "Live Security Platinum" virus and removed it. Firefox is also very, very slow. Has anyone else had this particular problem?

Hi there, sorry about your problems. It could be that the virus remover didn't fully clean up Firefox.
Try the Reset Firefox feature, which should restore it back to a normal working state without removing your personal data such as bookmarks: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems?s=reset+firefox&r=0&e=es&as=s#os=mac&browser=fx13

  • SB Live 5.1 Platinum- The LIVE Drive2 Not Working On Windows Vista 32

SB Li've 5. Platinum- The? LIVE Dri've2 Not Working On Windows Vista 32BIT?i need halp?tnks

You mean you get audio at all??Heh. I did hear of Windows Update giving some sort of 2. sound so maybe that's what you have. Since Creative isn't going to do any work on the old Li've series (non-24bit), I suggest you try the latest beta kXProject drivers from the driverheaven.net kXProject forum. 3538l is Windows Vista compatible. Just install it with UAC turned off. Don't know how much is working, but it's possible that your Li'veDri've is one of the things. See for yourself. Better than the basic Microsoft implementation, especially for your 5. speaker support.

  • Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1 and DTT2500 5.1

    Hello!
I have a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum 5.1 and a Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500 5.1 Digital Sound System.
I linked them with with the SPDIF-Out on the Live! Drive.
First i thought it works but then i realized that there is only sound from the 2 front and the center speakers. There is no Signal on the Sorround Speakers.
When i do the sound test in the sorround mixer, only the left and the right front speakers work.
Do i have to link it with this 9 pin digital din cable? But i don't have such and don't know where to get.
    Can you help me?
How do i have to link this devices?

You may have to use the connection on the rear of the sound card...there should have had a "Y" shaped cable included with the speaker/sound card..it has a small 1/8" plug on the single end and opens to a din plug and rca type pluge on the other...try the single end in the orange input at the sound card and the other two plug in to the speaker system..sorry bout being so vaugue, i'm kinda tired..but if you need the original speaker system/ sound card owner's manuals with the installation diagrams I can get them to you.
