"Play all" command?

I have 4 short movies that I want to put on one DVD. Three of them were created as slideshows in iPhoto, and then exported to iDVD. The fourth is an iMovie file I imported. All four movies show up in the menu, and each of them plays nicely when I select it and preview it.
What I'd like to do though, is be able to "play all" the movies, one right after the other, without going back to the menu in between. Is this possible?

Hi M
No there are no Play it all function in iDVD. In DVD Studio pro this is said to be possibly. But cost
and complexity might be scarry.
If movies are small - one might fake it by adding a fifth movie that contains all four in one set. Then
name this as "Play all". But this works only if there are space enough and if you can re-do Your
SlideShows in iMovie as movie segments.

  • Adding "Play All" command

Can I add a button that will play all of the selections on the DVD sequentially?

    Hi m
    No !
    BUT You can fake it.
iDVD doesn't have this function. DVD Studio pro has - but to an astronomical cost and rather steap
    learning curve.
    HowTo fake it ?
One must make a duplicated material - a second movie with all material in sequense. Add this to
Your DVD project and let it be triggered by a button named "Play all".
    Cons!
You can only store about half the maximum material onto the DVD.
    What to do then ?
    a. Encode with Best Quality (120 minutes incl DVD menus) = about 59 min full movie and 59 min for
    the parts/"Chapters"
    b. Use a DL-DVD burner and DL-DVD disks. About doubles point a.
    c. Make a DiskImage and burn it with another encoder like Roxio Toast™ - but to an quality and
    economical cost.

  • PLAY ALL - how?

    Hello
Wondered how to make the following...I've got a menu which will have on it PLAY ALL, then 3 sub headings and then under those headings 3 videos each to choose from...so how can I make PLAY ALL, actually play all in a row?
Do I have to make a new timeline in FCP as one long timeline with all the videos on it and link that mpeg 2 to PLAY ALL on menu? Or is there a simpler, easier way to use stories for this or some other way of linking them all to play in a row? If the separate videos have a "jump end" back to its menu, how will that affect any use of stories or whatever in a PLAY ALL command?
    Thanks much
    K

You don't need to make a new sequence in FCP. You can drop all of your compressed movies into a single track in DVDSP, and set your chapters at the beginning of each one of them. Then set up your stories as you need, and have the play all button just play the track. Each story will have its own end jump. A story will only play the chapters you set up. If each segment has no chapter markers in it, you can put the beginning chapter marker as the story, and it will play until it hits the next chapter mark, which would be the beginning of the next movie. Set the end jump for the track back to the main menu. I usually like to designate the next chapter's button as the default return in such a situation.

  • Cd/mp3 player was not playing all tunes burned to disk

    Got my Mojo workin'.
    That's a TDK "Mojo" CD-MP3 Digital Jukebox.
Sit back and relax while I tell of my Grand Journey of Exploration. (There is a question below too.)
I had made a some iTunes playlists of MP3s, and decided to burn them on CD-R disks for my portable player. I had them all sorted by Artist and Album. The burn process seemed to go well, but when I loaded the first disk into the Mojo, it seemed to scan the entire disk and count all the tunes. It finished counting after it found all 193 titles. However, when I tried to play them, it would only play the first 26 tunes or so. (Another disk I had burned at the same time (different playlist) gave similar unsatisfactory results, something like 19 out of 186 tunes.) I knew the Mojo was not a current model, and thought maybe there was some weird file incompatibility thing going on.
I popped the disk into my son's CD/MP3 player ("Koss" brand), and it managed to find 30 or 40 of them. A bit better, but not perfect.
I tried it in my DVD player, and it was able to play all 193 tunes. In fact, it loaded and started playing quicker than I had ever seen it do before. It usually thrashes and whirs for an annoyingly long time.
The odd thing was that the Koss was able to play all 76 tunes on another disk I had burned over a year ago, on my wife's Mac, with a version of iTunes for Mac System 9.2. Unfortunately, those files were gone from her Mac so I couldn't see what the iTunes setup was. I was thinking maybe the newer version of iTunes had a bug or something.
Then I inspected the old and new disks in the Finder and noticed that the new disk had a bunch of folders with the Artists' names, and each artist folder had folders within them with Album names, and the tunes were inside those folders.
The old disk (which worked fine in the Mojo player) just had the MP3 files and no folders whatsoever. I knew I was onto something, but I couldn't figure out how to burn a folder-less MP3 disk from iTunes, as opposed to doing it manually via the Finder.
I searched Apple.com > Support > Discussions > iTunes for Mac > Importing & Burning in iTunes for Mac yet again, this time using "folders" for the search term, and up popped several threads where people wanted files organized by folders on disks:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1464192
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1791538
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=781976
... which brought me to the document "iTunes: How to set the play order of songs on an MP3 CD", at http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60931
So, I removed the columns for "Artist" and "Album" names from the playlist, and burned it, et voila! it worked just fine in my Mojo, which plays all 193 tunes. (Too bad I didn't fix the ID3 tags beforehand.)
    Now, for points:
I had the playlist sorted by Artist, and here are the first four titles (of 193)
    Title ____________ Artist____________
Relative Ways ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
Mistakes & Regrets ...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
    Jubilation 20 Minute Loop
    Queen of Pain Alkaline Trio
Muffin57 All Natural Lemon And Lime Flavors
    ... etc.
Then when I remove the "Artist" column so that it only shows the Titles, it resorts like this:
    Title ____________
    Blacken My Thumb
    Buckler
    After School Thunder
    Futuristic Genitalia
Once In A Lifetime (Cul De Sac)
    ... etc.
This is not the same as it was, nor is it alphabetical by Title.
If I click on the Title column header of course, it is ordered alphabetically by title, like this:
    Title ____________
    (Do Not Feed The) Oyster
    (Got My) Rock Pants On
    3 Away
    27
    68
    Adventures In Conversation
    After School Thunder
    Algorithm Of Desire
    Alive and Amplified
    ... etc.
Other than dragging all 193 tunes, one at a time, in order manually, how can I keep the original play order by Artist, without creating folders on the burned CD?
There is talk of "Copy to Play Order" in the iTunes Help/Support files...
To use this command, Control-click one of the songs in the playlist,
and choose "Copy to Play Order" from the shortcut menu. Tip: These
steps also apply to a playlist you have reordered directly (by clicking
on one of the column headers like Artist or Album).
... but I don't see that option when I Control-click anything. The bottom menuitem in the popup menu is "Clear". Same results with Right-clicking.
    300 MHz "Blue & White" G3   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   iTunes 6.0.5

Hmm. I see that the spaces have been chopped out in part of my first post, and it appears that I cannot edit it.
For clarity's sake, these are the Artists' names, in the partial listing for Ordered by Artist example in my previous post:
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
...And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead
    20 Minute Loop
    Alkaline Trio
All Natural Lemon And Lime Flavors

  • Windows media player does not play all videos

This laptop s a HP G71-340US model... Before it played all of my music and video files but lately it began giving me te error message... windows media player encountered an error when opening this file. It still plays quick time and mpg files but avi, mts, mod, movie clips, video clips.... they do not open or if they do they dont play right. I am frustrated as I have a project due i n a few days and I am working wth several movies taken with different cameras. Any ideas. I have uninstalled and reinstalled media player and tried running trouble shooters but no answers so far. Thanks.

    Hi,
Try the following to force Windows Media Player to re-build the Library Database.
A useful utility for viewing all the files on your PC is called Free Commander, on the link below, as it displays folders that the Operating System normally hides and has a good search function.
    http://www.snapfiles.com/php/download.php?id=107872&a=7122339&tag=601108&loc=10
This is a zipped file.  If you don't have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip which can be used to open this so that you can run the installer.
Make sure Windows Media Player and Windows Media Centre are closed.
Launch Free Commander, double click Users, double click 'your user name', double click Local Settings, double click Application Data, double click Microsoft and double click Media Player.  Delete all the files that have the extension .wmdb - do not delete any folders.
Close Free Commander and open Windows Media Player - it will now begin to re-build the library database which may take a while, but when it has finished see if the movie files play Ok now.

  • Play All Script does not Play All !!

i need to be able to add a Play All button to the various menu pages on my project.
I tried using the sample scripts in the manual, and aside from changing the movie file names, it was letter and space perfect. Yet when i tried testing it using the Simulator the first movie played through but then instead of jumping to the next movie it just went back to the menu.
Is there a problem with the script in the manual, or perhaps simulator does not simulate this particular function? ideas how i should tackle this?
    thanks
    adam

If you have muliple tracks in DVDSP, I usually use stories to handle play all behaviors. This allows you to let each track end jump back to the menu, but specify a different and jump for the stories, to go from one story to the next track's play all story.
If you are using scripts, you need to set the end jumps to the scripts. I find using scripts as pre-commands on a track doesn't always work, particularly if you press the "next" button on the remote. So the flow would go something like this:
menu: jump to script "play all, which sets your "play all" gprm to 1
script jumps to track, which jumps to script "after track so-and-so" which says if play all=1, then play next track, otherwise, return to menu.
each track needs to jump to a new script which tells it what to do by checking for the play all gprm

  • Is there any way to play all files in a directory by one url?

    Hi all,
I am testing fms this days, I have put all my files(such as 1.mp3,2.mp3...n.mp3) in my directory.
I can play single file fine with url like this:
    rtmp://localhost/mp3/mp3:x/2
but i want to know is there any way to play all files in my direcotry?
for example, user click the play button, the player(smp) automatic plays all files in the directory, link windows media server.
Should I use playlist? Or there is another better way?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi,
FMS do not directly take a directory to play files, the file names have to be fetched some way (through script if needed) to make a playlist and then the play command needs to be repeated as many times.
    Thank you !

  • Fine in Simulator, but encoded "Play All" Scripting Goes Screwy

So I followed this Tutorial for scripting a dynamic Play All button: http://creativemac.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=30628
The Script checks the GPRM values at the end of each video. It also has a pre script to reset the value to 0. It works perfectly in the simulator, but once encoded the Play Button plays totally different tracks on the DVD. Perhaps there is an issue with the GPRM values?
The menus are video files, not Photoshop files with layers so I don't think this workaround applies: http://forums.digitalmedianet.com/cgi-bin/displaywwugpost.fcgi?forum=astarte_dvd &post=080314211038.htm
A solution that might somehow be related???-->"I used the DVDAfterEdit Demo (http://www.dvdafteredit.com) to check my GPRM values outside of using DVDSP's Simulator (which worked fine for me, just like many of you). I found that when the Menu Prescript is run, it is assigning, not 32 for the first menu and 64 for the second and so on, but another number in the 60,000-something range, which of course throws off the math for the end jump script. An associate of mine explained to me that he thought each layer that is activated in the layered menu actually was a different menu altogether, which is possibly why the Current Item value is being set to a number we weren't expecting.
So, my workaround is this: I made a separate prescript for every layered menu I needed the dynamic end jumps for. The single I command I used was "mov GPRM 0, 32" for the first menu rather than "mov GPRM 0, Current Item" (you have to switch from Special to Immediate to manually type in the number, FYI). The second menu had it's own prescript with the command "mov GPRM 0, 64". And so on for the subseqent menus."
Anyone who has a fix, please let me know. I'm comfortable with DVD studio, but new to scripting.

your problem comes from a bug in the simulator.
When you use jump indirect it is looking for a menu or track based on its position on the disc, for example menu 1 is 32, menu 2 is 64, menu 3 is 96, etc, etc.
Well simulator gets object positions based on DVD Studio Pro's Outline View. The problem is there are two different outline views, one is by type, and one is by VTS. Simulator uses "by type" when calculating object values, but in real life (as in all DVD players) the value is based on its position in the "VTS" view.
I would check your VTS view and make sure the tracks are in the order your want them to play in.
Additionally, i have always found "prescripts" very unreliable. I find it I get better results by jumping to a script directly and then at the end of the script jumping to my target as opposed to creating a script and assigning it as a pre-script to an object.

  • "Copy to Play Order" command missing

I'm using iTunes 8.0.1. Does anyone know what happened to the "Copy to Play Order" command that you used to used be able to get when you CTRL/right clicked on a track in a playlist? This would apply the current sort order (for example, Year) to the permanent order of tracks in the playlist. Perhaps it was removed between v7 and v8.
    Thanks.

Thanks for your help! Right or CTRL clicking the the playlist name in the left panel does the trick. It would be nice if Apple put this in the Help file for iTunes. An ancient support article (circa iTunes 4.5) is all that comes up for this topic and it shows the old click-on-track method.

  • Playing All Songs in a Playlist

I'm very annoyed. I am trying to play a playlist on my computer but iTunes will only play one song. It won't move on to the next song and just play down the playlist. It does the same thing with every playlist and even the full music library. Is there anyway to "play all" in a playlist???

Make sure all the little boxes to the left of the song titles are checked. I don't remember (severe mental block on this factoid) what the key sequence is but I think it's alt-click (but if that doesn't work, try shift or command-click) on one of the boxes will check them all.

  • Play all Loop

Ok, so I'm a new user and I have a project I am working on, it has multiple tracks that can not be combined due to different aspects etc from what I understand (nor do I really want to try at this point).
Stuff has been added in random orders, so some of the other scripts I have seen here won't work I don't think.
So I can I get a play all button set up that I can specify a specific sequence of 10 clips - and the user can hit the menu button at any time to get back to the main menu.
Of the clips I want to be in the loop all of them jump back to the main menu or a sub menu.
    Hope that is enough info.
Look forward to hearing your solutions.
    Thanks
    Tony

The way that may be easiest for now is make 2 (or 3) stories for each seperate track.
So if you had 3 tracks- 1, 2 & 3 - would each have a Play All Story and a Play Solo story (each would be identical with one marker, the difference being the end jumps for the stories would be either set to the next track you want to play (Play All) or return to the Menu (Play Solo).
The third story would have an end jump from the last section back to it's beginning (or you can just script the end of the second story to jump as a loop or back)
Set the menu command for each section in the story to where you want it to go -

Take a look towards the bottom where there is a red arrow which shows how to set menu command

  • How can I play all songs from an artist in the ipad 2, with the new IOS 5?

in the music app (which was named ipod before the update for the IOS 5) I want to play all songs for a certain artist that have different albums, but I dont know how.
    hope someone can help me

Actually, JinKL, doing a search from "Songs" is harder to do and does not give the exact same result. It's harder to do because I have to key an artist's name rather than pick one from a list. The results aren't the same for several reasons. If you key an artist name that matches a song, you get that song, too. OK, that doesn't happen THAT much, but it does happen. And if I key a partial name, say "Morrison" for "Van Morrison", I get all the songs on "Morrison Hotel" by the Doors.
"All Songs" should be added to the iPad music player. While they're at it, they should add column titles and allow allow sorting on the column values.

  • How can I play all the songs in one genre in iOS7's music app?

Suppose you want to listen to only blues music. In the music app in iOS 7 I can't find a way to select all the songs from one genre. When you select "genre" it takes you to a list of artist in that genre but there's no way to select all the songs. In previous iOS all you had to do was select "all artist" and then "play all songs". In iOS 7 I can't seem to find that option. I've tried using Siri but if the genre of music you have is not in English then Siri won't understand. Also Siri only works if it's connected to a network. What if your not connected and you want to listen to just Blues. Is this option not in the music app in iOS 7 or am I over looking something?

Found the workaround... you are correct, this option was available in prior versions and now it is not.
In any Music app view scroll to the top to unveil the search box.
    Search for your genre.
Search results will show all artists matching your query, and if you scroll above that there is a 'Shuffle All Songs' option.

  • How do I get my iPhone to play all albums by any given artist in consecutive album track order like it does on an iPod?

When I select an artist on my iPod Classic and then select "all albums," I can play multiple albums consecutively without losing the track order of each individual album.  On my iPhone 4S, however, when I select an artist there's only the option to select "all songs," and it lists all the tracks alphabetically and plays them in that order, making it impossible to listen to one album followed by another.  It isn't a problem if I select one album at a time, as the tracks then remain in their original order from the album, but it won't keep the proper orderings if I want to play all of the music by an artist and select "all songs."  Is there some way to change it so that when I view all tracks by an artist I can see them and play them in their original intended track order, not in the alphabetical listing order?

Delete the file and re-download again.
