"Play any track" quest

I selected this option and now it's like I can't select anything else! Exactly how many songs does the player program to play when you select this option? I have a Creative Jukebox Zen Xtra.

Have you tried running a disk cleanup? To access the maintenance menu hold down the play button and KEEP it held down, press the tiny reset switch once, and KEEP the play button held down until the player boots into the maintenance menu. Choose Disk Cleanup from the menu.

    iTunes 7.1 will not let me play any tracks, it opens up fine and I can do pretty much anything else with it but when I double click or press play on a track an error message comes up and iTunes has to close. This has only been happening since I uploaded the new 7.1 version of iTunes, can anyone help me with this problem please?
    I have sent an error report to microsoft but that doesn't seem to help me.

    Can you play your tracks with Quicktime?
    If not, you might try uninstalling quicktime and installing the stand alone version, which is option2 here:

  • Unable to play any tracks from AC/DC in Windows player (currently running 1.0.9.133)

    When I play any track by AC/DC, Spotify comes to a screeching halt. No crash, no hang...just silence. The track progress indicator at the bottom of the screen never moves (like it can't start the track). Despite the play indicator showing that a song is playing, click on it several times to switch back & forth between play & pause changes but it never plays the track(s). If the song is part of a playlist with other artists, my only recourse is to skip the track--and assuming that it's another artist, the music resumes. Going to the AC/DC artist page produces no sounds from my speakers (just lots of mumbling & cursing from me). I am a premium subscriber so I tried playing an AC/DC track from the same playlist on my Android phone. Holy crap, it plays the song from the Android client! Jumping back over to my Windows player...no go :-( So it's not something I've done--at least not obviously...but it seems to remain a problem with ONLY the Windows player! The problem has existed for me ever since AC/DC (finally, yes!) has come on to Spotify & only occurs when playing any of their songs. If there is any additional information that I can provide, I'd be glad to do so.     I'm in the US. UPDATE: I figured out what the hell the problem was! When I got home last night, I tried playing AC/DC tracks on my laptop running the Spotify Linux client. It wouldn't play either, however, with the older build it was attempting to reference MP3 files that I used to have locally--it was trying to play files that weren't there! (Slight rant: pre-1.0 releases are better in visually representing which tracks are local & which ones are streamed.) Once I cleaned up the list of what Spotify thought I had locally though, the sweet sounds of AC/DC came out of my laptop :-) So now back on my Windows box, I had to go through a few technical gymnastics to get it to properly update the list of local files that are actually there, but much like the experience on my laptop, AC/DC trans now play properly! tl;dr: Spotify was confused & trying to play missing local MP3s instead of streaming from their servers. Forcing the client to reimport my local files solved the problem.

  • Zen NX 'Play Any Track' number Limit

    I have a Zen NX and when I choose 'Play Any Track' it plays track 'X' of 'Y' where for some reason 'Y' is less than the total number of tracks on my player?
    All was fine until I reached 7477 tracks. After that ... whenever I added tracks they were on the player and I could listen to them, and the correct number of tracks appeared in 'Settings - About', but when I select 'Play Any Track' it never gets above 7477. I have tried adding all different tracks, and so it is nothing to do with the player ignoring duplicates or anything like that.
    I have heard of other people experiencing a similar thing, but not the exact same number of tracks (but always in the 7xxx region), so it could be a file size limit to track info somewhere?
    I have tried reformatting and relaoding all my MP3s and then it went up to 7476 but never any higher no matter how many more tracks were added.
    I have all the latest firmware, etc. I do not have any playlists at all on my player, (just mp3 files only), so that info cannot be taking up any space/memory. I still have plent of physical space (/3) left on the hard disk.
    I only really use my player to listen to my whole library on random, so it is extremely annoying, as I don't know which tracks are being missed off, whether it is always the same ones, etc.
    Can anyone please help?

    Unfortunatley I now find the playlist seems to be limited to 7999 tracks as displayed on my Zen?
    However, In Notmad Exployer it shows all of my tracks in the playlist, over and above the 7999 limit's
    I have also posted a reply to someone else with the same problem in a message 'Play Any Track / Selected Music / Playlist Track Limit - Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra '.
    Someone must know what's going on here?

    I'm new here. Attempted a search on this subject and found nothing. Apologies if I missed something. I've got a 30GB Zen Xtra. I filled about two-thirds of the storage with tracks/albums taken directly from CDs. When I attempt to listen to all tracks using the "Play Any Track" feature, it'll randomly play back, but not all tracks/albums equally.
    So, I cleared off the storage - I was tired of some of the stuff anyway - and started from scratch. I've got about 00 albums loaded now. A half dozen of these represent about 80 percent of what is played randomly - including every album from certain record labels (...to add to the mystery). A dozen albums have never played in 00+ hours of playback.
    Somewhere, I remember reading about some limit on random playback - 4000 tracks or something. I haven't been anywhere near that. My average track length is something like 6 minutes. I've installed all the software updates through about six months ago. Same computer and software used for everything I've loaded. Thanks for any help. BTW, I have enjoyed this player quite a bit.

    Try the things SSR mentioned to rule out any problems with the firmware/software. If you're still having problems after that, then it's likely it's a hardware fault. Contact Customer Support to see if they can help. If the player is out of warranty, they will be able to advise on the price of an out-of-warranty repair.

  • ITunes7 upgrade will not play any Tracks

    upgraded smoothly to v7 today, all track content there and present, but when double-clicking any track or any preview track to listen to, the play head doesn't scroll and no audio can be heard!
    Checked my "verify/repair disk permissions" on start-up volume, also chked "authorization" of purchased tracks, to no avail!

    You could check if you have installed any plugin in the forder User>Library>itunes>itunes plug-ins>
    Close your itunes
    Move the plug-ins to other folder, and open itunes.

    Welcome to the  forum!
    Under Music+Video Hub go to Music and then swipe left until you reach the Songs tab. From there you should be able to see all of the songs that you have imported from your PC. Select Shuffle All or play one song then press the shuffle button just beside the album art.

    Just recently (maybe after the latest iTunes "upgrade") my iPod now will not play any tracks. I have completely re-set it and redownloaded all my music to the iPod. All the functions of the iPod work fine (scroll wheel, folders, etc). But no matter what song is chosen, it's just frozen on 0.00 and doesn't play. It does play fine when connected to iTunes.
    Somebody out there, please help!!!

    I have an 80GB 5th Gen iPod with the same symptoms.
    I had a talk with an Apple rep and they said this is not normal behavior (obviously) and they offered to have it repaired/replaced. We did some troubleshooting over the phone and narrowed it down to the hard disk. For me it seems like this happens when the iPod comes out of deep sleep. I press play and it shows Now Playing but does not forward the play head nor does the time elapsed change. And I don't hear anything either. Only way for it to play is to put it back to sleep (hold play) and then turn it on again. You can feel/hear the hard disk inside spin up. Then the iPod will play.
    However this problem only happens intermittently. I was not able to reproduce the problem over the phone but the Rep said they would have a look at it anyway. So if you're debating whether to call tech support... don't. Give them a call. Good Luck.

    Are you streaming or syncing you music? Sounds like you're streaming music directly from iTunes.
    There can be many different issues. First, try power-cycling you wireless router (leave router disconnected for about 1 or 2 minutes) to refresh the wireless communication betweek both devices.
    Make sure all software updates have been installed, for Apple TV and iTunes.

  • New iPod Nano Turns off in the middle of any track playing - Apple Bummer

    So, I just received my iPod Nano as a replacement to an early generation of iPod Nano's that are subject to recall.  The new Nano has been updated as of 21 Jan 2012.  Songs loaded into iTunes under MAC OS X Lion, iPod Nano synched with my computer, and I'm ready to go.
    What - not so fast!  Guess what?  The Nano turns itself off in the middle of any track you play.  I turned the shake and shuffle mode off to make sure that is not it.  And it is fully charged.  I even went through the reset procedures.
    So its less than 24 hours new/old so I go for Apple support.  My original iTunes etc accounts are associated with my house in America.  But I live in the UK right now.  So drill through Apple support and guess what?  Well, I live in London so no support is available.  And the Apple web site as usual does not provide much help in making calls.
    Apple's web site says there is no coverage on this as it is out of warranty?  24 hours new?  No warranty.  It says it comes with a one year warranty. And Apple UPS'd it to me yesterday.
    So question 1 is:  Does anybody know what the problem is and how to fix it?  I hope it isn't operator head space but who knows, maybe it is.
    And question 2:  Does anybody have a good 800 number for me to call in the USA?

    My guess is that it is a compatibility problem with older or aftermarket ear buds.  My daughter has a 6th generation Nano and does not have this problem but keep in mind she is using the ear buds that came with the 6th Generation Nano.  With the replacement program they are not sending new ear buds.  I just did a test with my daughters 6th Generation Nano using an old set of aftermarket ear buds I had in my desk and I was able to duplicate your issue.  I then used the ear buds from my Iphone 4s and did not have an issue with the Nano going to sleep and the music turning off.

    If the media that you are attempting to sync plays in iTunes, try removing the preference to sync music as this remove the media from the device.  Once this is done, try syncing the media again.

    Hello everyone.
    i have a 15" MBA circa 2011 running Lion 10.7.5 and my sound has gone, There is a no sound circle on my volume display and in system preferences sound my options for output is empty. At the same time this happened I noticed 2 things: 1) itunes would not actually play any audio track and every video i streamed stopped after a few seconds (usually 11s) but not always.
    I have tried following some tips I have found online like going into MIDI and fixing the problem there, restarting in safe mode. Resetting with PRAM (or something that sounds like that).
    Does anyone have any insight on this? At this point i'm thinking it's time to reload Lion but I don't really know how to go about that without losing all of my files.
