Play audio in through speakers

Simple Monday challenge : I have a 3.5mm jack cable from ipod to Macbook Pro audio in port. How can I get the audio out of my speakers ? I can see the audio being detected (through the on screen meter in audio settings) but how do I re-route the audio to the speakers ? I know it will sound poor, but it saves me travelling around the world with speakers in my luggage.
Thank you from a Marriott in Germany!

My wireless earbuds work just fine, but some third-party apps play audio only through the iPod and iPhone speaker even though the buds are properly connected. Does anyone know why and is there a solution?

Assuming you are using Bluetooth headphones, do the apps have the option to use Bluetooth?
The app should have an option to select the speaker (or wired earphones) or the Bluetooth headphones.

Contact the developer/go to their support site if only one app.

  • Audio output through speakers but not headphone jack

I have an HP Envy 15-J178ca. I am unable to play audio from my headphone jack, but audio plays on my speakers. When I plug in my headphones, the speakers stop outputting audio but no audio plays through the headphone output. I have tried multiple headphones which all work on different devices and was unsuccessful at outputting audio. I have updated my audio driver to the latest version using the HP drivers site. The following is a screenshot of the sound devices on my computer.

I have the same exact problem, may some one help us

  • Some audio coming through speakers, some through headphones

I have an iMac running Yosemite 10.10.1 with an additional thunderbolt monitor.
I am having an issue where all computer related sounds (screen cap, email, error etc.) are coming through the speakers of my thunderbolt monitor when my headphones are connected (wireless and wired, I've tried both)
My system prefs are set to have all audio come through the headphones specifically (Not even set to internal speakers, not display audio)
I have no clue why this is happening.

    Hi
Try to download the Audio driver from HP.com and update also run a BIOS update
    http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html
Put the product number of the unit you have.. Chosse the OS and download..
    Hope this helps.

  • Can I play audio output through both my iMac speakers and Apple TV simultaneously?

I have Bose speakers conected to the headphone jack on my iMac.  When I select Airplay Mirroring on the iMac, the Bose speakers become disabled as audio is then streamed to Apple TV which resides in another room?  Is there any workaround which will give me audio to both the headphone jack and Apple TV simultaneously? Thanks.

  • Tough one - Cold calling  / play audio message through to voicemail

I want to use GB to create voice message(s)... and be able to play it through to a recipeints voicemail (if I get it) when making cold calls.
SCENERIO - With a pre-recorded audio file of my message... when I get the customers voicemail - I could manually click or play that audio (through a headset or speakers) ?? - so that my message ends up on their voicemail.
There's gotta be a way to do this......
    TIA

I think it could be the phone. Try doing a restore factory settings on it and see if that helps.

  • E93z All in One I want Audio playback through speakers and headphones at the same time

    Hi there,
As the subject line reads I am hoping to enable playback through both the headphone and internal speakers on the E93z All in One unit I have.
Is there is currently a way to do this with the Lenovo HD Audio software for the Realtek system? It detects the headphones and does the typical shut off of the internal speakers however no option to enable playback through both seems to exist.
Running Windows 7 Pro 32 bit.
I cannot enable stereo mix (by right clicking in the playback area of the sound settings in Windows) to try and come up with a work around.
I have tried re-installing the drivers and not luck with more options to do this.
I have tried un-installing the Lenovo HD audio software and still no luck using the vanilla Windows 7 software.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Well basically I want to hook in some external speakers via the headphones jack and the more speakers the better, I just figure if there's a way to have 4 speakers instead of just two it'd be cool, why let the internal speakers go to waste?
Do you know if plugging in headphones physically cuts off the internal speakers or if it's a software/driver thing?
    Thanks to all who've replied
I'm pretty sure it's all in the OS, since the level control is right at the top. You can actually customize sound profiles individually for headphones or the built-in speaker, or any other sound devices. You can also use Bluetooth headphones (or a headset) or USB output devices. As far as I know, only one can be selected (in System Preferences) even if multiple ones are plugged in.

  • Play your iPhone through speakers with dock line out

I discovered this nifty feature today. I have some powered JBL speakers for my laptop that I usually plug in to the headphone jack. I saw that the iPHone dock has the "line out" connection and I wanted to try it out.
So I unplugged the JBL mini plug from the laptop and plugged it into the dock, put the ipHone in the dock, selected a song from the iPod, turned on my speakers and voila! My iPhone now plays through my computer speakers, but without the need to connect with the computer. Thank you Apple.

I tried this, too, and found it only works with the iPod part of the iPhone. I thought it would be a good way to use the speaker phone, or at least listen to voice mail. But, it doesn't work. Has anyone tried this successfully?

  • Play audio right through the dvd

    Hallo all
i have authored a dvd with menus and tracks. There is a main menu that leads to other menus with info the user will read.
My client wants a song to play while the user navigates the dvd. i'm able to select a audio track per menu but not to play over several menus from start to finish, and on the sections with tracks the music must stop.
is there a way to do all this?
thanx for your time and advice
    jammy

No way to do it. DVD technology isn't non-linear edting or web stuff. Each menu /track is a little self contained packet. When you navigate to that packet, you get what's inside that packet only, it's not loading a audio into your cache on a webs ite or something...

  • Airplay mirroring does not play audio on airplay speakers

    Hello!
I just got an airplay enabled hi-fi system and using it with my apple tv = very nice indeed. However, I just upgraded to Mavericks to use mirroring and when I do, the sound comes from the TV speakers and not the airplay system. It seems going into mirroring reverts the airplay setting in the apple tv menu where you select the speakers. I have also tried holding down the select button on the remote which does not bring up a menu with speaker options.
Does anyone know if it is even possible to use airplay mirroring and have the audio come from airplay speakers?
    Setup:
Macbook Air (mid '11) running OS X Mavericks v 10.9.1
Apple TV 3rd gen latest update
    Many thanks,
    Joakim

Repairing Permissions is a fairly standard Mac maintenance procedure. The particular problem I shared with you involved mirroring from a Macbook Pro laptop which I had just upgraded to Mavericks, partly in order to have the mirroring capability.
I have used mirroring from my iPad (which doesn't have the transparency of such maintenance tasks as permissions repair on mac computers with OSX) without any issues of any kind, so I can't address how to fix the problem on those machines.
One reason I wanted to have mirroring on the MacBook Pro was to have the features I prefer on it to the iOS environment on the iPad. Easier typing, easier navigation, and, it must be said, accessible maintenance procedures.
If you're interested in repairing permissions in OSX on Mac computers, though, I'll be happy to explain it, but you'll find it discussed many, many times on these support fora.
If your iPhone/iPad have the problem with audio that I had with my MacBook, then I think you should step outside the AirPlay discussions and go directly to the support communities for those devices to learn what, if any, maintenance tasks are available to users. This is beyond my experience.
I hope you have as much luck with your iOS devices as I did on the computer in this situation!

  • Audio Feedback through Speakers

Does anyone get audio feedback from their iPhone? I get feedback in my office, home and car speakers. Any recommendations on how to stop the feedback?

AT&T has what is called a GSM wireless network (the largest in the U.S.) along with T-Mobile vs a CDMA wireless network used by Verizon and Sprint in the U.S. to name two. You can't use a GSM cell phone on a CDMA wireless network and you can't use a CDMA cell phone on a GSM wireless network.
The iPhone is a GSM phone and GSM wireless networks dominate the overall worldwide market by a very significant margin.
GSM phones have a tendancy to do this when near speakers depending on the speakers.

  • Can I use Optical Audio alongside a speakerless monitor to play audio through speakers?

I have an Apple TV 3 and so far I am relatively pleased. However.. I have no sound, this just about renders my Apple TV useless. Is it possible to use the Optical Audio cable to play sound from films, music etc. while still having the Apple TV connected to the Monitor via HDMI? Do you have any suggestions as to what speakers would be good? (looking at around £50 - £100) I was thinking of getting some of the Bose Companion 2 monitor speakers and then using a DAC to play audio from the Apple TV to the speakers. Would this work? If not, does anybody have any other suggestions?
P.S. I can't plug speakers into my monitor for some absurd, annoying reason unbeknown to society

My ATV is connected to the tv with hdmi
My optical is connected to my stereo
I mute my tv and only play out of the stereo

  • Is it possible to play iTunes audio out through USB to receiver to power speakers?

I thought you should be able to.Play iTunes audio out through USB to a receiver equipt with USB mode as I can with my iPad Air, but I can,t find in preferences on my 2013 iMac any out put and I get no signal to the receiver/amp. Is it possible? What am I doing wrong?

    Yes
A 3.5mm to RCA cable or adapter will work fine for stereo between the Mac's headphone jack and receiver's RCA input.
    for example's

Additionally if your receiver is equipted with digital input, you could use a Toslink cable with a 3.5mm adapter on the Mac end.

  • The audio does not play back from the speakers of my laptop, it plays only through headphones ?

Hi, I am not able to hear playback of audio from the speakers on my laptop. Only if I connect a headphone I am able to hear. Kindly help resolve.

    Hi
    1) Try a Hard Reset as follows.
Remove any devices connected to the notebook.  Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook - check if the speakers are now working.
    2) Please First check if the speaker icon on the unit is not muted.
    3) Go to device manager and uninstall the Sound driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.
    4) Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.
    5) Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.
Let us know how it goes!
