Play Count problem after converting to Lossless

I've converted a few albums to the Apple Lossless format via iTunes but am noticing that I'm losing all my play counts.
Anybody know how to keep the play counts during the conversion?

This might get a bit long, but here goes...
If you want to re-rip your songs as lossless (or any other format) and retain playcounts, artwork, last played info, etc, follow these steps:
• Insert the CD you want to rip.
• When it comes up in iTunes, makes sure all these items EXACTLY match the corresponding items that are already in your library:
-Artist
-Album name
-each song name
-whether or not it's a compilation
-and the disc number (ie disc 1 of 2).
• Once you're sure, then click the 'import' button. iTunes will ask if you want to replace the existing items. If you say OK, it will rip at the new settings and transfer all the track details over to the new files. It can optionally delete the old files when it's finished.
If it doesn't ask you if you want to replace, then the info doesn't match exactly and it will rip a new set of files, all with 'virgin' track info.
Also, if any individual song has info that doesn't match, you'll end up with a duplicate of that song (the old one, with the details, and a new one without.) If that happens, wait till the whole CD is done ripping, eject the disc, delete the NEW duplicate, put the disc back in, correct the mismatched info, deselect the songs on the CD that you've already ripped successfully, and re-rip the one(s) that didn't work the first time.)
For tracks that you've already re-imported that now have incorrect playcounts, there is a script available to help you set the playcounts to any desired value. You can find it here:
http://www.dougscripts.com/itunes/scripts/ss.php?sp=newplayedcount
I'm happy to try to explain further if this is unclear.

  • Solution: Play count problem

As many others I had the play count problem with my iPod Shuffle which suddenly stopped working.
The solution sounds boring but seems to work: the iPod seems to be pretty inflexible, but you have to follow a precise routine to keep it working after you have reset it:
    1) click 'eject' before tacking the iPod of the charger
    2) switch on
    3) start
    4) listen
    5) stop
    6) switch off
    7) insert in charger in 'switched off' mode
Since I don't shortcut any of these steps, I don't have the count problem anymore.

Unfortunately, this did not work for me. I tried chatting with Apple support about the issue and they suggested I call support. They had me re-install iTunes, but that did not correct the problem. Since my wife's Shuffle was updating the Play Count and Last Played correctly on her computer, I thought I would try on her computer. However, she has a older version of iTunes and it would not sync with my Shuffle. I then connected my Shuffle to my Son's laptop since he has the latest version of iTunes. iTunes required me to Erase and Sync on his computer. I did this, loaded up a few short songs, played them, and then sync'd back to his computer. It worked! I then sync'd my Shuffle with my computer (Erase and Sync, etc.) and it worked there as well!
I'm not sure what part of that process actually corrected the problem, but thought I would post this in case it helps someone else.

  • Play count wrong after trying to home share

Hello.  I recently turned on home sharing to share music with my wife's computer in the home.  After turning on home sharing, I found my play count was all different.  The numbers were off.  I have since turned off home sharing.  Is there a way now to get my old music play count or library back?
If I can't revert back, is there a suggestion as to how I might manually fix the play count back to what it was?

I'm having a similar issue, which has only occurred very recently. When I plug my phone in to sync/back-up, some song plays will be randomly and significantly increased though, bizarrely, not all songs are doing this.
Having had a browse around the internet for a solution, it seems the issue is likely caused by the latest version of iOS (v8.0.2). Really irritating bug, I have to say, for those of us who like to keep accurate listening stats.
I hope iOS 8.0.3 will be out very soon and hopefully address this issue, as neither a system restore on my phone nor reinstalling iTunes has had any effect on this problem.

  • IPhone play count problem

    Hi guys,
This is my first post - my first real problem since switching to Mac a few years ago - but I seem to have a problem with the play counts on my iPhone 3GS. With my iPods the play counts updated as usual and stayed the same and increased correctly as I listened to music.
When I got my first iPhone - the 3G a few years ago - I noticed the play counts on the phone wouldn't stay the same or update correctly from sync to sync.
I'm using a MacBook Pro running the latest version of iTunes and I manually manage my music so I don't have to sync every single song - and maybe that's the problem because when I sync my iPhone the plays on my iPhone seem to increase drastically while the plays in my iTunes library stay the same. Like, my most listened to song has 1020 plays and I know that that's not right because I ain't been listening to that song 1000+ times.
I was hoping someone could tell me how the play counts works on the iPhone. Is there a way for the play counts on the iPod component of the iPhone to work like a normal iPod? Should the play counts be the same on the iPhone and iTunes library? I know it may be trivial but I'd like to keep track of how many times I listen to songs.
    Thanks for any help provided,
    Matt.

I don't know if this is how it'd work, but if one syncs with WMP, it makes it so the files in your WMP library are like those on your player. So if you have a certain rating for a song, that rating will show up in WMP, and perhaps if you played the song a few times on WMP, that play count might transfer over to the player. Just a theory, but who knows. Probably just a bug.

  • Muse 2014 - Problems after converting a Site with Safari

After converting a site to muse 2014 and exporting it to html the JS-error message "Einige der Dateien auf dem Server fehlen oder sind ungültig. Löschen Sie den Browser-Cache und versuchen Sie es erneut. Wenn das Problem weiterhin besteht, wenden Sie sich an den Autor der Website." ("Some of the files of the server are missing or incorrect") apears when opening every site.
I did not made any change to the site itself, the site was only converted and re-exported.
The error is only shown with Safari, but i only tried with IE 10 under Windows

When you republish your site, make sure you upload all files. New versions of Muse may change JavaScript files or CSS files for pages that you have not changed. The error message is indicating there are expected files that are missing or that files it found and loaded were generated from an older version and need to be updated.

  • Problems after converting to dv

HI folks , ive been having problems with imovie.
    the story is!!
i tried sending a project to idvd but the was no sound. tried lots of different things anyway one possible answer was to convert all footage to dv as i was originally in .mov then try starting again. i backed up all the original files so i thought id have a go/
so converted all .mov to .dv using mpeg streamclip. the clips play fine in quicktime etc but when i import the into imovie it now wont recognise the and just says "No matching video' . ive wasted nearly 3 days trying to sort all this out but im losing the plot here. can anyone help please!!!!!!!!

I know the feeling. Especially with 1.4.1, which if you read down through these reports, is not working very well. In 1.4 they rewrote the "focus handler" and that apparently has introduced a huge number of problems. I've given up on 1.4 as it is now and I'm using - with some degree of success 1.3.1_02 (the current one is 1.3.1_06).

  • Problem after converting Quark to indesign

    Hi Forum,
this is related question to my previous one.
After Quark is converted to indesign, I have problems on special characters converted to Outlines and overprint applied.
I tried to remove it many ways (as i have requested in my earlier post, for contentType.unassigned)...
    How to solve this out.

    > have some old Quark files in 4.01 that I need to access
InDesign can open Quark 4.01 files.
There will be some text reflow, but they do open.

  • Image size problem after converting from Managed files to Referenced files.

I recently moved to Referenced files for all my images. I use a plug-in (Graphic Converter 8.8.2) to resize all images to a consistent size (1440 pixels wide, landsacpe format) for a web app that I use (Sandvox). With Referenced files, when I drag and drop the externally processed image, it shows up at exactly one-half the correct size (720 pixels). As a test, doing exactly the same opeartion with an Aperture library utilizing managed files, there is no problem...it works as expected.
As a temproray work-around, I found that instead of dragging and dropping, I use the Aperture Export function, everything is correct. This is not really what I want to do because I have a lot of images to process.
This is Aperture 3.5 and Mavericks,  but the problem was there with with Aperture 3.4 and OS 10.7.5.

Thank you for the suggestion and running the test. I changed the Preview settings to 1440, and then 2560 and finally, Don't Limit. Quit and relaunch Aperture between each setting. No luck.
But you gave me a hint: maybe the problem has to do with the images being first Managed and then moved to Referenced files. So I tried one that has never been a Managed file and everything works correctly! Don't know if this is a bug or a feature.
Mystery solved, but I still have a lot of images to reprocess.
    Thank you for the help.

  • Sound Problems after converting

I converted all my video files from Quicktime to MPEG-4 so that the videos would play on my iPod. The videos now play, but there is no sound. How can i get sound to play?

Hopefully in answer to the many posts on “how to get various video formats onto your iPod” I have put together a summary of applications I use. I have tried a few others with varying amounts of success (some of which are free) - I have finally plumped for the software produced by Xilisoft as providing good quality video relatively affordable cost for use withPC’s and numerous MS operating systems. The link below takes you to their site which not only allows you to download trail versions of their software but also has a comprehensive set of tutorials and FAQ's for their iPod video conversion software.
I have regularly used these applications to convert various file formats to iPod friendly video. They are simple to use although frequently processor and RAM hungry:
Use Xilisoft iPod Video Converter if you want to:
[*]Convert various video file formats to MP4
[*]Convert most audio file formats to MP3
[*]Extract audio from video file and save to MP3
    [*]Encode several files simultaneously
[*]Pause encoding process to run other CPU time consuming programs at any time
    Supported file formats:
    Video:
    [*]MPEG(mpg, mpeg, dat, vob); WMV; ASF; AVI; QuichTime(mov, qt); MPEG4(mp4); 3GP; DV(dv,
    dif); Real Video(rm); Animated GIF(gif - decoding only); Macromedia Flash(swf - decoding
    audio only);
    Audio:
[*]MPEG Audio(mp2, mp3); WMA; WAV; AU; MPEG4 Audio(m4a); Real Audio(ra); OGG; AAC; Raw
    AC3(ac3); NUT Open Container Format(nut);
To convert DVD's to an iPod friendly video format:
Use Xilisoft DVD to iPod V4:
[*]Just pop the DVD in your drive select compression variables (default settings work well) and sit back!
All these products are available on a "try before you buy basis", yes there are applications for XP which are free but and may work just as well but I have converted many hours of video for my iPod without hassle using the Xilisoft products (no I don't work for them!). Check there web site HERE

  • Google Play Store problem after updated to Android 4.0

    Hi Folks,
Recently i have updated my Xperia Neo V with Android 4.0.Whenever i'm tryin to download any apps from google play store, it taking more time to start. After that i'm getting notification like "App Name" could not be downloaded due to an error : 425 and sometimes 495. What should i do to resolve it. Thanks in advance.

Everything on your phone memory will be erased (exactly the same as the Software Update).
If you are using PC Companion, it will prompt you that your phone is up to date, just proceed further and click Repair.

  • Sound problem after converting...

I have the newest ipod video, and have tried converting video files from my computer using quick time pro into .m4u (ipod) and .mp4 (MPEG4). This does work successfully in getting the video onto the ipod through itunes. BUT, in the converting process the file somehow loses sound. So the question is how do i convert videos properly so that i can keep the sound with the video. Because Music videos are no good without sound...
P.S. these are not files that have been downloaded throught the itunes website.

This problem usually arises when the source files are in a "muxed" format like MPEG1, MPEG2, VOB, some AVI, AVI MJPEG, etc. In this case the audio and video data is in a single stream in which blocks of audio and video data are interspersed to maintain sychronization. On the other hand, QT Pro, QT-like, and other applications based exclusively on the QT Tools are designed to handle frame-to-frame sychronization in which the audio and video are located on separate tracks of data. Easiest thing to do is locate an MPEG based third party program for these conversions. There are a number of free (like Videora iPod Converter) and commercial (Video Vault Converter for Apple iPod) programs for Windows users. You may wish to read comments and recommendations by searching this forum.

  • Videos won't play the music after converted in iTunes and put on iPod

I converted some videos in iTunes and then put them on the iPod and there is no sound with the video. Does anybody have the same problem and can you help fix this? Thanks.

I have this same problem also and have found out that you have buy a video from istore to get it to convert to your ipod. If you just add a video already on your cmp to itunes, it will not convert the sound over the itunes, this appears mostly on Window pc's, not as much as a mac to my knowledge.
    Good luck

  • Problems after converting from 1.3SE to 1.4SE

I have a very vexing problem that I need some help with.
When I run my program using SDK 1.4, weird problems crop up -- controls don't always respond to clicks (they seem to be pressed but are not released), the menu fonts are oversize/accelerators are not displayed, table column headings are separated by a small gap, etc. These problems do not occur when I run under 1.3.
    Any suggestions are muchly appreciated.
    Cheers,
