Play Counts have gone crazy

I am not sure what has happened but sometime over the past few weeks my play counts have gone crazy. I have songs that are reporting a play count of between 265 and 769. Obviously these are not even close to correct (especially since the next closest number is like 20). Is there any reason this might have happened? Is there any way to correct this information without resetting the play count for those tracks completely?

Many thanks again. I do not understand the concept of 'using the script' on the page you refer me to: I am not terribly technical! Basically, I don't understand the comment 'Save the text of this file and add the extension .js and put it in your script folder and run the script in Window > Utilites > Scripts >' How do I save the 'text of this file', and does this refer to everthing that is in the box, beginning '//blind Open' and ending '}'? What is my 'script folder' and how do I find it? Is this a folder in InDesign, or Windows (I'm running Windows 7, 64bit).
I did try to open the 124 byte file (sorry, I said 124 KB by mistake), and got an error message that it could not be opened. Also, as a check I exported a much smaller file (1244 KB, as opposed to the 'problem' file, which is 5668 KB), and the resulting file was 48 KB.

All of my playlists&play counts are gone! iTunes crashes wenever I open it!

Out of nowhere, the iTunes on my MacBook broke! First, some of my songs were gone, then all of them! So I re-added them, but all of my playlists and play counts were gone! Now, whenever I even open iTunes, my whole laptop freezes up and I have to shut it down. Why did this happen/how can I fix it/can I get everything I lost back?! PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!!

Tried to sync ipod but too full - now play counts have shot up?!?

I tried to sync my 60gb ipod classic but a message came up saying it was too full ect.. that was fine, but a day or 2 later i noticed that the play counts and ratings for about 1250 songs (out of 11670) are completely messed up - the play counts of 721 songs have gone up by 512, 426 songs have gone up by 256, 54 songs by 100, 24 by 80, 10 by 60, and i think some of the others have changed too.
It's really important to me to have my play counts!! I've looked all over the internet - some people have had issues with play counts but I haven't found any solution to my situation..
Obviously i know i can reset them, but i want them to be how they were before! any ideas?? or am i being stupid for asking?

also, what i find strange is that the songs that are messed up have no relation to each other other than a lot of them are in the same albums..

Fonts have gone crazy with 08 update

I purchased iLife 08 and installed the iWeb update (including the 2.0.1 web update), and wanted to update my website; simply add a page and fix a couple of typos. First thing was my eps files that had looked fine and worked as transparent pictures were no longer transparent. They all had to go away and be re-imported, re-sized and re-positioned.
After that, everything looked fine in iWeb. I published it to a folder and looked at it in Safari & Firefox, and the fonts went crazy. What was Arial Black in all browsers in the old iWeb is something very "Geneva" like. Same thing for Arial "regular." I went and copied a very simple block of text (and all formatting) from one page where it looks OK, to the place where it publishes wrong. Nothing was fixed.
Additionally, the text that I had links associated with are now random size text and random fonts. And I do mean random. What is supposed to be arial 13 everywhere, can be as big as 26 pt, with stretched fonts, smaller, bold.... totally random. The same is true when viewed in both Safari and Firefox. Save your old files before updating, and don't have high expectations for success when you do update.
This is a dangerous update.

So are you saying that I can rebuild from scratch in '08 and I won't have any problems? That's a possibility, but a painful one.
There is something that stops me from trying out the new features on new site. The program is limited to only dealing with one site (the work-arounds for this are not for the faint-of heart).

Help Please! iMac screen colours have gone crazy

Can someone please please help me to solve this problem? I was playing around with my new iMac screen settings. I made changes to the calibration colour settings. Now I notice that the colour has all gone to alpha, gamma range and is looking horrible. Can someone please help me to restore the factory settings for the display? Or suggest ways in which I can fix it please? That would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Open System Preferences->Displays->Color and select "iMac". That should be the factory default settings, as when you run the calibrator the last thing it asks you is what you want to call your calibrated profile. The default name is "iMac Calibrated" which should be in that list too. If its not there and you overwrote the original, click the "Calibrate" button again and just click through it using the default choices it gives you. This will return the display to its default look.

Tomcat seems to have gone crazy!

I tried using the tomcat 3.3 To learn JSP. I am getting my source code in the browser, when I view the page.
I made a directory called "library" under "webapps". Then I put my hello.jsp there. Inside "library" I made a directory "web-inf" and put "web.xml" there. When I call http://localhost/library/hello.jsp, I get a page which gives me the source code when I do view source. Although my code is not being compiled, the jsp examples within examples folder under webapps are working fine. For some reason its not compiling my code!!!

The reason was the page was saved with unicode encoding and when I changed it to ascii, it worked fine!

ITunes 11 causing ratings and play counts to disappear

Since installing iTunes 11 (and also since updating to 11.0.1), some songs (it appears to be complete albums) have lost the ratings and play counts. I cannot identify a pattern for those that are losing this data. It appears to be a small percentage, but today's loss of data is greater than the initial loss. iTunes also says that the songs are on iCloud, when I can see that the files are still on my Mac. I have not intentionally turned on any settings to move music to iCloud (I am not using iTunes Match, for instance). Is this a known issue? Can the data be restored?

I have a similar problem. Dozens of play counts are gone (but not ratings). It affects some songs that are of the kind "Purchased AAC audio file" rather than whole albums.

Play count reset - is it possible??

I have a number of tracks where the play count has gone completely mad - can't figure out why, but may have been after the last itunes upgrade at a guess. Not much of an issue except it has substantially altered the content of several playlists, and I don't want to have to get creative just to fix it.
Does anyone have guidance on how to reset the playcount to zero for all or selected tracks?

Has Anyone Found a Solution for G5 Fans Gone Crazy?

First of all, let me say that I am a long time Mac user going back to the Mac Plus days so I think I am fairly experienced in the ways of the Macintosh.
I have a G5 Dual 2.0 ghz (Original Version) that is two years old and until last month has worked fine. Then I started getting Kernel Panic every day and the fans have gone crazy, revving up and down until I want to scream.
My local Apple authorized dealer does not seem to be able to fix this problem. They have installed a new Logic Board and 600 watt Power Supply and over $700 in labor in this machine. Nothing has helped and they seem to suggest that I have a software problem. I do not agree with their assessment. I could have bought a new computer for what I have spent so far. As I type this, the fans are screaming full blast.
On the internet, I have found lots of similiar G5 fan problems but nobody seems to indicate if they were able to get the fans to stop racing and act normal again.
I have tried the normal suggestions, Engery Setting to Highest, reset the PRAM, erased my hard drive and reinstalled OS 10.4.6 several times, logged on as a new user. Nothing seems to help. Fans just will not settle down.
I bought this computer as a DEMO model and did not receive the Apple Hardware Monitoring CD. Does anyone know how I can get this disk? Perhaps, it could tell me what is wrong.
Looking for any help with this problem.

Sorry to hear about your problem Robert.
Since you have already started a hardware process with Apple, it's best to just deal with them. We users really can't do much.
I'm sure software has been eliminated by now in your repair process.
The verison of Apple Hardware Test on your install disks is no longer compatible with your firmware and OS version. Only Apple Store folks and techs would have a recent copy. I'm sure they ran it several times by now.
Take your machine back and say it's not fixed, remove your boot drive so they would have to use their own. Try another boot drive and remove the first.

Hi yesterday I updated iTunes to the most recent version. After I had restarted my computer all my play counts had gone. Can I get them back?

Me to on my ip5. Then i noticed all accounts were gone in mail.
Luckily i had 90% backed up in yahoo so when i set up the account again i had most back. Still sure though info is missing.
In icloud i only found about 10 contacts who had been stored in icloud contacts
Any way i can get all data back? Can't be i accidentaly deleted these accounts right before download of ios 7

Photoshop CS5 Shortcuts Gone Crazy

The CS5 shortcuts were working fine for the past 2 weeks but now have gone crazy. When I hit Shift + F6, it flips my slection horizontally when it should bring up the Select > Modify > Feather. When I hit Shift + F5, it should bring up the Edit > Fill dialog box but instead it does a Select > Modify > Grow.
I deleted the PS Prefs file but that did not work. Anyone else have this issue? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Zeno, no,I did not reprogram any and I checked Edit>Keyboard Shortcuts the list is as it should be - Shift+F5 still shows as Fill; Shift+F6 still shows as Feather;
Other wrong shorts:
Shift+F7 now functions as Transform>Flip Vertical
Shift+F8 now functions as Transform> Rotate 90 deg CW
Shift+F9 now functions as Transform> Rotate 90 deg CCW
None of these incorrect shortcuts shows up in the Keyboard Shortcuts table. There are no other keyboard shortcut configurations other than the PS default table.
As mentioned earlier I have has CS5 installed for 2 weeks now and used the Shift + F5 for Edit>Fill about 50 times a day. I used Shift + F6 to feather a few times as well.

Play Count after iTunes 5 upgrade

Since upgrading to iTunes 5 from 4.9, most (but not all) of my play counts have been turned into a series of random numbers, such as -1088620803. Anyone else have this problem? I think I've been spared all the other bad stuff, although I really dislike the new design.

Good that you are back with the all important playcounts but as I do know the Technical reason for this one-off occurence, let me assure you it is not a fault rather another step forward as we move into an era where data files that do not conform, for whatever reason, to the latest standards will be changed gradually each time they are moved or accessed, until they all match the specifications as laid out... files you have had on your computer in the past are the most likely culprits... a few years ago the rules were very loose and there were thousands of differents formats ... as these have been assimilated into the latest data formats you end up with a situation like this... to write software that would fix and convince everyone to use it is impossible as the variables are too many and would probably be a step backwards.

Play counts doubling when I manually sync

Over the past week, my play counts have been going up by 2's instead of by 1's. Every time I play a song on my IPhone 5S and manually sync with ITunes, ITunes shows the number of plays has increased by 2. Has any one else experienced this?
The onlychange I've made recently is upgrading ITunes: I sync with 2 computers and keep my library and my Media on an accessory hard drive that I shuttle back and forth between both computers. One computer runs 11.3.0, the other runs 11.3.1 - could this discrepancy be related to the problem? My IPhone is running 7.1.2

ITunes 10.5 doesn't sync play count with iPhone (iOS 5).

My iPhone (with 3rd-party app Music Stats) shows the correct play count, rating and Last Played data, but none of these are synced to my iTunes library. Moreover, after the sync, everything is the same on my iPhone. Still can transfer new songs and apps between the two, looks like the issue is only affecting the songs' metadata. Anyone else with the same issue?

I'm having the same problem - although I don't have Music Stats to check if the play counts have been updated internally. I mostly listen to full albums, and while some have been properly synced, there are others that were only partially updated (i.e., see the following print screen - there should be twelve Fennesz tracks with one play instead of only two songs).
