Play diffenrent audio on different rollover captions on one slide

Help!!! I currently have 6 rollover caption on one slide and
I assign complete different audio files to each. But when I preview
it, all the rollover caption plays the same audio of only 1 out of
6--is there a way to have each plays its own audio?
I also tried replace one of the rollover caption with
rollover slidelet with a text caption and audio-- it didn't change
the situation at all.

In Captivate version 3 the audio can be added to either the
rollover area, or the rollover caption. Do NOT add audio to the
rollover area. Add it only to the rollover caption. If audio exists
at all on the "rollover area", remove it and add it instead to the
caption.
To reiterate, add audio to the Audio tab for the object, not
the rollover area. And keep in mind that the rollover object (the
caption) is NOT on the timeline ... only the "area" is shown on the
timeline, so you will have to go to the object on the stage and
open it to add audio. Hopefully that will help solve your problem.

Hi, i have question about multiple text captions on one slide of my project. I want o change content of text caption by clicking on different buttons on the slide.
There are 4 buttons on slide and in the middle of the slide there is text caption. Is it possible to change content of the caption by clicking the button or is there some way to do it different (hide or show different captions etc..)?

I'm curious about something. You are using an action I've seen suggested elsewhere here. I use a similar approach but found that I had issues with the approach you are showing.
My approach is to use the rdcmndGotoFrame rdinfoCurrentFrame - 5
Personally, I've seen it where the way you point out failed in many cases for me. By "backing up" the playhead five frames or so, things then worked as the playhead drifted back to the pause point.

Can you copy multiple audio (text to speech) files from one slide onto a new slide at once?

Can you copy multiple audio (text to speech) files from one slide onto a new slide at once? OR do you have to copy and paste each line of text to speech and insert into new slide?

I believe that you end up with a single file that you can use. Once you get that created, it's an audio file in the library. You may then add the audio file to another slide or object by looking in the Library after choosing to add audio.

Multiple rollover slidelets on one slide

I have musltiple rollover slidelets on one page and as soon
as one finishes I want the user to be able to rollover the next one
and have it start. On the slide timing, it looks like it is set up
right but in execution there is a long delay before it starts. Any
suggestions?

Good job on reducing the file size.
I think we got the issue sorted. Here's what the deal was.
Rita had four Rollover Slidelets on slide three. Her desire was for
the first to become available for rolling over just after the audio
narration completed. So she timed the first slidelet at about five
seconds. She wanted the next to become available for rolling over
just after the user finished listening to the audio narration
contained inside the first slidelet. The third shortly after the
second finished and the last shortly after the third finished.

In practice, she was experiencing longer than desired delays
before the next rollover area became available. So the desire was
to shorten the time.

What was happening was that when a slidelet was playing, the
main timeline stops playback. This means that after the first
slidelet completes, seven and a half seconds must elapse before the
next slidelet becomes available. After that second slidelet
completes play, another 11 seconds must pass in order for the last
to become available. So by configuring the slidelets closer
together as in the after example, the issue was apparently solved.

Multiple failure captions on one slide...?

Can anyone offer any advice with this please?
I use Captivate 3 to produce training for software applications. In the past I have tried to limit the amount of buttons and/or click boxes that have failure captions to a maximum of one or two per slide. This is purely to prevent the problem where a previous failure caption appears when an incorrect option is chosen later on in the same slide, even where the click box/button is clearly separated from the next one on the time line and the 'focus' is changed as well. This removed the problem but incresed the file sizes
So, in trying to keep the filesize of my software application movies down I have started building cp files where I have fewer slides with graphic elements appearing and disappearing throughout....the difference in the published files is huge but I now have the problem back where I may have several failure captions corresponding to several click boxes/buttons on the same slide. The 'bad behaviour' is that, again, the first failure caption will appear all the way through any incorrect choices made on any of the remaining click boxes/buttons on that slide.
I have separated all the buttons etc. from each other on the time line but the problem persists. Can I really only have one or two click boxes/buttons with a failure caption on each slide or am I missing something?

Audio on rollover caption.

Hello,
I'm using the rollover caption on several places in my project. I have recorded a speaker which I want to play when the the caption is shown. I have no trouble setting this up, it works just fine. The problem is that I noticed that the project size was way bigger than it should be. I looked through the library and saw my audio-files in .wav-format, I recorded them in .mp3. So there are two versions of the audio in my library, both the .wav and the .mp3.
I tried to do it all over again to make sure I used the .mp3, but it still add the .wav which is about 2-3 Mb bigger in size.
Anyway to get around this problem?

Just leave them as WAV. Captivate will output to MP3 when it publishes and you can choose the audio compression settings accordingly. Cp is saving the MP3 as WAV in the library to try and reduce degradation of the auio quality. It doesn't output the WAV itself at publishing. It just uses it as the source file to ensure you start with the highest quality before compressing.
Since MP3 is already a compressed audio format, if you then go and compress it AGAIN at publish time, you will end up getting poor quality audio output because you're compressing twice. The resulting audio can then sound very "wooshy".
So leave the files in the library as WAV and then control your output quality to ensure you get a small enough publish file without sacrificing audio quality unnecessarily.

Attach sound file & rollover caption to image - options?

We are trying to create a page with multiple images that a
learner would click to see text and hear audio. I was able to add
audio by inserting a transparent button with audio attached to the
suucess caption. I found this helpful link
here.
I then added a rollover caption to display the text.
Is there a way to stop the audio if the learner clicks on a
different image? Is there a better way to do this?
Any feedback/suggestions woudl be appreciated.

Hi there
What you might try is to forego the button trick and simply
attach the audio clip to the Caption that appears when you roll
over. When you mouse over the area and the caption appears the
audio begins to play. If you mouse off the audio stops.

Split TTS audio & assign audio to different buttons

Hi there,
I have a slide including a TTS audio sequence. I also have a graphic with two transparent buttons placed on it.
Now I would like the first part of the audio be played when button 1 is clicked, and the last part of the audio be played when button 2 is clicked.
Is there a possibility to do this? Can I split a TTS audio sequence and place both sequences on one slide?

Okay... version 5 it is.
Insert the Button/Click Box/Text Entry Box and look in the Properties panel. Specifically, the OPTIONS area.
You want to ensure a check mark is present beside the caption you wish to use. So ensure you have a check mark in the Success check box.
Now you click the Success caption on the stage so it gains focus (as it's a different object than the Click Box) and you look in the Properties panel at the AUDIO area.
From there hopefully it's rather obvious as to what you do.

Welcome to the  discussion forums.
Try going to synching in the sources menu on your tv and selecting 'change itunes library', when it gives you the passcode check itunes to see if the tv is showing up as a new device, if so try entering the pass code. It may be that your tv is seeing itunes as a different library because of a recent upgrade.

Streaming audio from my IPAD to my Apple TV from Rhapsody application. when Apple TV go into Screen Saver mode, about 5 minutes after that it stops playing the Audio Stream and goes into Sleep mode.

I am using the Optical Out from the Apple TV to my receiver, the Apple TV is hard Wired to the Network, the IPAD is Wirelessly attached to the network (it continues to play the Audio Stream). When the Apple TV is turned back on it resumes playing once I manual select it for output from the IPAD. All device are on current releases of software. I have no Video hooked up to the Apple TV. How do I correct this?

Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first. Networks that have inherent issues can be seen to work differently with different versions of the same software. You might also try moving the Apple TV away from other electrical equipment.

MXF file plays with audio on Source Monitor but timeline imports only the video

Hello,
This started happening like a few hours ago. But it was working perfectly before! This is driving me insane!
This is the situation (Premiere CC, updated to latest version):
- I have a bunch of MXF files and if I play them on the Source Monitor, audio and video play perfectly.
- The moment I drag the MXF file onto the timeline, only the video is imported, not the audio.
- I tried to drag only the audio, using the different ways that Premiere provides but it won't come at all.
I managed to import audio and video doing the following: close all sequences, and drag the MXF file in the timeline with no sequence opened thus it will create a sequence with the imported audio and video from the MXF file.
BUT if I try to drop the SAME MXF file in this brand new sequence, only the video will come again.
Does anyone have an idea of what is going on? And why it suddenly stopped working?

Playing an audio file in a certain location

Hi Everyone...
I would like to play an audio file (edc.caf) that is located in this directory....
/DCIM/TONY/IOW/AUDIO
When i run it through the NSURL processor....

the resulting value of soundFileURL is
file://localhost/DCIM/TONY/IOW/AUDIO/edc.caf
But i do not hear any audio out of the iPod touch.
I've tried two different methods of playing the audio,
and both are failing.
I know the audio is being recorded, as i can bring it back to the PC and play them fine.
My initial thoughts are that i cannot find location of the file, but i am not sure.
Can anyone confirm the location is correct???

How to create a hyperlink from text within a rollover caption

Hello,
I have a rollover caption that appears when the learner rolls
over a topic category (text caption). Within the contents the
rollover caption that appears I would like to provide an active
link to a website that is refered in specific rollover caption.
There are several rollover captions and associated hotshops, but
only ONE needs an active link.
Play control for the whole project is controlled by a NEXT
button, so the project is paused until it is clicked.
It doesn't seems like Captivate allows you to select text and
then link it - you have a set up a click box or button. I don't
understand how I could use these objects without them appearing all
the time. I only want the link to appear in ONE rollover caption.
Does anybody know how I might be able to acheive this
functionality?

Cannot Order Front/Back a Question Rollover Caption

Following from another post, http://forums.adobe.com/thread/609673, I cannot z-order the Rollover Caption when it's on a Question slide. I right-click the text caption and the Order -> Bring to Front / Send to Back options are grey / disabled. Is this a bug? Any workarounds/ideas?

Unfortunately Question slides are a bit of a different beast. I'm thinking about all you can do with this is to ensure the caption isn't obscured by Question elements.
