PLAY DVD MOVIE FROM MACBOOK PRO TO APPLE TV

HOW CAN I PLAY A DVD MOVIE ON MY MACBOOK PRO AND MIRROR IT MY APPLE TV.

Native mirroring requires a recent Mac (2011 or later) running 10.8
Older hardware can use 3rd party options like Airparrot
The native DVD player is blocked from mirroring but VLC should work

  • I can't burn or play DVD's from macbook pro

I'm trying to play a commercial DVD and the "DVD player" app crashes, and VLC won't play either. Also I cannot burn any DVDs via Toast either. I am running OS X 10.8.2 on a macbook pro. I am assuming my DVD drive has an issue, so is there a way I can reset its settings, or test it, etc. ?

Ok same thing goes then. It seems with this latest update something has been broken with the DVD player App on Some Mac computers.
Only option is to Wipe and Reinstall clean.
You can take it to an Apple Genius Bar and show them what the problem is they may have a fix. But first make sure you back up all your personal files as there fix may be to wipe the drive and reinstall OS X.

  • Can't move rented movie from macbook pro to apple tv (1st gen)

any advice? i rented two movies (non HD as far as i can tell) from my macbook and can't seem to get it over to my 1st gen apple tv. ive tried dragging and dropping, no luck.
    thanks

You don't sync or drag and drop rentals to the tv, you need to move them.
Transferring rentals will look something like this

Only content in your iTunes library can currently be sent via AirPlay from your mac.

  • Does it worth to move from macbook pro to macbook pro retina?

    Hey
    I have macbook pro with
Processor  2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB
and its good but many people are saying macbook pro 2013 with retina display is the best laptop and has many features so do you advice me to move from macbook pro to macbook pro 2013 with retina display?
    thanka

It's a very sweet machine, of course. Although the upgrade path is a bit dicey. Just my opinion, but unless you have very demanding graphics needs (in which case you probably should have a desktop system with a huge monitor), I don't see the point of spending all the money. Probably you would get more value if you take your current machine and max out the RAM and get an SSD.
It's hard to advise anyone in such matters via the internet.

How to transfer movie from MacBook Pro to iPad ?

For transferring videos you could use 'Video Transfer App'. I'm the developer of this universal application (iPhone/iPad) that let's you transfer videos from your iPad or computer directly to another iPhone or iPad.
The app is currently in the Top 25 iPad apps in the photography category.
Here are couple of videos that show how the app works:

Okay, use AirPlay if the Mac supports it or Home Sharing.

  • Best way to play movies from MacBook Pro to HDTV

I have some hi-res 1080p movies on my MacBook Pro which currently runs Lion 10.7.4.  Planning on upgrading to Mountain Lion but my hardware will not support Airplay Mirorring (it's a mid 2009).  I will soon be buying an iPad 3rd generation also which of course does do Airplay to an HDTV.  Somehow can I get the material off the MacBook Pro directly to the HDTV though maybe the new iPad or even an Apple TV?  I will be running the audio through an external stereo receiver/speakers, so just concerned with the video.  Also had read that my model of MacBook Pro only supports video from the minidisplay port to HDMI.
Best solutions?  I may get an Apple Tv if necessary or anything within reasonable cost including any programs for the Mac or iPad.
Oh NOTE:  My movies are just avi or mkv files and NOT in iTunes.

I believe you can do Back up to Disc and burn them as Data Discs. (Be sure to check your burning preferences first.) You won't be able to view them from the burned discs, but you can use them to restore to your library. Burning the movie itself....I doubt you can get it to fit on one CD. Another option would be to invest in an external drive. I hear they're pretty affordable.

  • Watching DVD from MacBook Pro to Apple TV

I'm attempting to watch a DVD from my Mac Book Pro via Apple TV.  I get the following message when it fails:  The viewer could not be moved to the selected screen.

Its the copy protection that dvds use that block it some people say some versions of vlc support it but that would inply they are breaking the law

  • HT2499 How do I play DVDs on my MacBook Pro?

I just recently got a MacBook Pro and never having owned one before in my life, I put in a DVD thinking it would play and it didn't. A DVD icon showed up on my desktop so I clicked on it and all there was were folders, etc. I didn't know what to do and am completely ignorant when it comes to macs so I was all over the help menus for every "player" in my arsenal. I tried dragging the desktop icon into the quicktime icon at the bottom, but it said that it wasn't found or whatnot. I came here and read about something called a region code, but I can't for the life of me figure out what they are, where they are, or how to use them, etc.

Sounds like you purchased a used Mac that the previous owner left in a mess.
If it is used, hold the Option button down and click on the Apple at the upper left. Choose System Information. From the app that comes up, copy only the top four lines and paste them into a new post here. Like this:
    Model Name:
    Mac Pro
    Model Identifier:
    MacPro5,1
    Processor Name:
    6-Core Intel Xeon
    Processor Speed:
    3.33 GHz
That's all we need to see exactly what model you have so the answers you get from this point won't be based on things you can't do.

  • Movies from MacBook pro to a 3D TV

    Hey guys and girls.
I just got a 3D TV from LG for testing purposes but they didn't provide a BluRay player so I can not check out the 3D movies... However I have downloaded some 3D content to my early 2011 MacBook Pro (13 inch). Does any of you have any experience on playing back 3D movies stored on MacBook?
Will simple pluging to the TV set and launching up VLC do the trick or not?
Thank you so much for your help!

    Hello,
Apple has introduced what is known as AirPlay, which allows your music, movies and photos to be streamed to your TV. You'll need an Apple TV or an AirPlay enabled device to do so.
To learn more about AirPlay please use this link: http://www.apple.com/itunes/airplay/
    Hope this helps.

  • Incredibly slow streaming of video from macbook pro to apple tv

Hi.  We purchased an apple tv 3rd generation connected to wifi.  our internet runs about 7mb/sec.  no problem streaming movies purchased on itunes through apple tv but ridiculously slow streaming mp4 through itunes to apple tv over macbook.  when i say ridiculously, not even sure if it works... just seems to think about it.   home sharing is enabled on both devices.  i know they are communicating because i can play my music library on the tv (which is also pretty slow).  am i missing something?

Home sharing is done over the local network so internet speed wouldn't play a factor. I would be inclined to think it is specific to the videos you are trying to share.
Have you made sure they are compatible with the Apple TV?
H.264 video up to 1080p, 30 frames per second, High or Main Profile level 4.0 or lower, Baseline profile level 3.0 or lower with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps per channel, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
MPEG-4 video up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov file formats
Motion JPEG (M-JPEG) up to 35 Mbps, 1280 by 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw, PCM stereo audio in .avi file format

  • Very Slow Streaming from MacBook Pro to Apple TV

I am trying to stream movie from my MacBook to my Apple TV but the movies do not stream. My library shows up on my Apple TV and when I select them they do not load. After a few minutes a message will show up saying, "An error occurred loading this content, Try again later." I have had my Apple TV for about 5 months and have not had any problems streaming content before except when I had to do some port forwarding through my router but about a week ago it started with this issue. I have a PC hooked up to my network and am able to stream from that without any problems. My MacBook is running OSX 10.8.2 with iTunes 11.0.1, my Apple TV is running 5.1.1. Please help with any suggestions you might have.
