Play menu / video selector / gallery menu

I am searching for a tutorial. You've all seen it, especially
on youtube (and plenty of others), it's a great trend at the moment
- when your flash video finishes playing (or even before you watch
a selected video) you get a gallery of related videos to choose
from / scroll through in the same window where the movie plays -
NOT in a sidebar - but right in the same spot as the video you just
viewed.
I think this is great and I have trawled the web trying to
find a tute on how to do it but I can't find anything so far.
A bit like
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_playlist/videoplaylist_deploy/VideoPlayli st.html
from
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/video_playlist.html
BUT I don't want the XML driven gallery on the side - I want it
over the top of the video when the video isn't playing.
Has anybody come across how to do this - can you point me in
the right place to get started?
Cheers
Marty

I don't think that's truly fixed. I need to fix the problem so that I can have tailored made menu backgrounds.
I have recently upgraded to the Universal version and it is now having the same problem. It seems whenever there is an MPEG-2 file used for my Menu Background. It simulates perfectly fine, then after the build and format, when checking my dvd, I have lost my background and is replaced by a white background. Everything functions properly though.
I have used this same mpeg-2 background in previous versions of DVD Studio, so I assumed that it was an upgrade problem.
Any help?

  • E72: Can't play 3gp videos from Gallery, Realplaye...

I have this E72-1, version 021.024.246.01 which was doing ok. But one day I installed Coreplayer, ran it a few times, and then uninstalled it and problem began. Now I can't play 3gp vidoes that are in my Gallery. It says "System : general error". I can play mp4 shot with the phone video camera though. However, I can play the 3gps with real player. Is there a cure to this disease or do I have to hard-reset it? Please help.

    Hi,
Restore the factory settings from the handset (Menu > Control Panel > Settings > General > Factory Settings). If it doesn't work, format the handset using the code *#7370#. It will prompt for the security code, 12345 is the default code.

  • DVD Studio: 1st-Play menu buttons not "clickable" ...

    hi Folks,
Using DVD Studio Pro 4.1.2 ... creating my first complex build; I have one "first play" menu,
offering 3 choices (via buttons), that lead to 2 sub-menu's or a 1st track choice.
I embedded a 5-min audio clip to play behind the "1st-play" menu, which I did get to work.
When I simulate the compilation, all buttons on all menus work fine.
When I burned the compilation to DVD, none of the 3 buttons on my first play
menu worked.  None seem "clickable" while the music plays, hovering over
any with the mouse did not change the shape of the pointer, as is is expected.
Is there something in the playing of music that might be screwing up the
    linking ability of the button?
Seems that once the music stopped, I could somehow get into one of the sub-menu's
playing the DVD on my iMac, playing it on a PC, nothing worked.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated!
    thanks

Tried Gary's suggestion, dropped in a 3-second black movie (.mov, rendered in FCE - not a graphic) for the 'first-play' menu, which is set to jump the 'main' menu with the 3 choices and the music in the background.  It gets to the 2nd menu, but the 2nd menu buttons are also not clickable (again) in the final burn.  They ARE in the simulation.
a little frustrated by my Mac world on this one, I sent my AC3 & M2V streams over to my PC - but these files - at least the M2V portions,(rendered by compressor) are not readable and bring up arcane error messages in both my DVD authoring programs on the PC (DVD Architect Studio & DVD Lab Pro).   That's a different game altogether, though.
anyway, still wasting DVDs and no answer yet..
    thanks for all attempts ...

  • I can't see playing menu on the screen in my car, iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.3

Hello guys, i've got problem with connecting my iPods/iPhones to the original kit for ipod installed by mercedes over past two years.
i can't see playing menu on the main screen (also used for navigation) but fortunately i've found out i does work only in that small screen behind driving wheel. firstly i meant, that it wasn't working at all, but i've got problem just w/ the main screen now. i can play music properly, but can't see that menu as it is shown here by apple. i has never worked this way and i've tried many iDevices. Can someone help me out?
    Thanks a lot

I figured it out - I needed to detach/re-attach the iPhone physically to get iPhoto to see the pics.
Why iPhoto knew about the number of pics but was not able to display them is beyond me. Anyway, I can import now.

  • Any one know how to stop iTunes movies from playing menu music when movie is paused?

Anyone know how to stop iTunes movies from playing menu music when the movie has been paused?

    JourneyMan24 wrote:

Can't. This is done for the individual movie, not by iTunes.
    Some have it, most don't.

  • Back to last played menu.

Is there a possibilitiy in DVDSP 4 to create a navigation button to get back to the last played menu, while playing a multiple chapter track? Should this be done with a script? And I don't mean the "Track Skip Forward"-button. Many hardware and software DVD-players don't have that button. Please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Not sure if this is what you mean, but if you select a chapter in a track, you can set the Menu remote control property for that chapter to go back to whatever menu/button you want. The user would press the Menu button on their remote to jump to the assigned menu/button. You can assign a different menu/button for each chapter of a track... that way you can (for instance) go back to the fourth button of a chapter menu if the track is currently playing Chapter 4.
This works fine if you always want to go back to a single menu. If you can jump to that track from two or more menus, and you want to remember which menu you came from and go back to that menu when Menu is pressed on the remote, yes, at that point you need scripting. I'm sure there are examples floating around here on the forum or at some of the tutorial sites... you'd basically use a variable or two to store which menu and button you came from, a script to store the current menu/button from the menu that jumps to the track, then a script attached to the Menu remote for the track that looks at the variables and jumps to the appropriate menu/button.

  • Iphone can't play movie in mobileme gallery

I logged onto to my 3G or GPRS and tried playing my uploaded movie in my mobileme gallery but it states "this movie can not be played". However, when I converted to Wifi at home, it was able to access and play the video.
Can anyone explain why this is the case? Is it some configuration necessary to make it accessible via 3G or GPRS?

Bring the movie in question into iTunes first. Select the movie and from the Advanced menu select "create iPod or iPhone version". iTunes will create the proper format movie for the iPhone. Upload that one to the Gallery and you are done. The file then works from Windows, Macs and the iPhone.

  • How can I get iTunes 11 to play a video's audio over airplay on my Denon?

It still shows AppleTV, but on the previous iTunes version it would play a video's audio on the Denon through Airplay.

If the Denon shows in airplay mirroring you can just turn on mirroring and get the sound.  Otherwise try System Preferences -> Sound -> Output and choose the Denon there. Any system sound will play through the airplay device.  I don't know why apple doesn't just give an airplay option from the menu bar sound icon to make this easier.... seems like they are pushing people to mirror

  • IPod Won't Play Songs, Videos Reset it, and it's Quite Sluggish

I have a 30GB video iPod (the old version). Everything was working fine until a few days ago, when the power on my iPod ran out because I fell asleep while listening to it. The next day when I turned it on, it said "Connect to your Computer, Use iTunes to restore" So I promptly did that, and it worked fine until I tried to play a video on it. It showed a blank screen, so I reset it by pressing the Menu and Center buttons. Then it showed the "Connect to your computer" screen again. So I restored it, and it would be fine until it locked up again and showed the "Connect to your computer screen" again. I left it alone for about eight hours, and when I tried turning it back on again, it was back to normal.I've seen that screen probably 10 times in the past 4 days, and I've restored it, just as many times.
Here's the list of problems I'm having:
    - the iPod won't play some songs when I click on them. It will show the Playing triangle in the upper left corner, but I hear no sound and the seeking bar doesn't move. I'll often have to click the Pause button, then hit it again to Play it, and then it will play the song.
    - The iPod is extremely slow. When dealing with songs or videos, it often takes a minute or more for the iPod to respond to my button clicks. Its hard drive isn't full, though; in fact I'm only using about 2 GB.
    - Videos lock up the iPod. Just about any time I want to play I video on it, it will show a blank screen and won't respond. Then I have to reset it and I get the "Connect to your computer" screen again. These aren't videos in the wrong format or anything, these are the same videos I've been playing on my iPod before with no problems, until recently.
    - Battery life is horrible. Although it hasn't been fully drained yet, judging from the power meter and how long I've been using it after it's fully charged, I'd guess it would only last about 2-3 hours. I would think it should last considerably longer, as the iPod is only about 3 months old.
Has anybody been experiencing similar problems, or know what I can do to fix it?

I've still had the same problems, but now when I try and turn on my ipod, it tells me to restore. When I do go to restore, itunes says that it cannot find the file needed to restore my ipod. The ipod itself also tried resetting itself, I guess, made it to the menu that asked what language I wanted it in, and then restarted again. This went on for an hour and a half, and I could't do anything. Is my ipod a lost cause?

  • 5th gen iPod freezes when play iTunes video, then sad icon, then normal

I tried to watch some Tv shows I downloaded from iTunes and sometimes it would play. Then the next time I select the video it freezes to a black screen. Sometimes I can press "menu" and return it the the main screen. But if I select the video again, it freezes completely on the black screen. I do a "reset" and then I get the sad face icon. I plug it into the computer and it says it is corrupted. If I leave it alone plugged into the computer, it tries to start itself about every 15 mins and the sad face icon appears. If I wait awhile more, it will restart itself, connect to iTunes, and be back to normal. As long as I don't play a video. I don't see any posts with a similar issue. Anyone have a clue?

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Right click the video in iTunes and go to convert selection for iPod. Does it convert again (through iTunes)?
If so, update the iPod and see if it works.
    If not, try these...

  • IPod-Video-80Gig No longer plays movies, videos, TV shows (older shows)

What gives, only 6 months ago the videos played just fine...then I begin having a host of problems (started with the death of the battery at the ripe old age of 8 months). This $400 video iPod had played the few movies and TV shows I purchased...and it will play the audio of them...but will no longer play the video portion. I've tried the resetting (holding the MENU plus CENTER buttons at same time). No go still. I haven't played the movies/videos in a while; but now I'm going on a roadtrip and wanted to take them with me to watch on the plane. So sad. Any help anyone can pass along would be rightly appreciated!

OMI...my daughter had told me she was "fiddling" with the settings and wouldn't you know, she changed the VIDEO SETTINGS "TV Out from Off to On." Word to people with kids...tell them to step away from the iPod.

  • I just updated my computer and now Safari won't play any video.

I just recently updated my Safari, to have it up to date.  Now all of a sudden it will not play any video in Safari.  How can I get my videos to play again?  Please help!

    Hi..
If you are referring to video streamed on YouTube or other sites that require the Flash plugin, try troubleshooting.
    Quit Safari.
Open System Preferences > Flash Player then select the Storage tab. Click: Delete All
Now uninstall the Flash plugin then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
Very important to uninstall the currently installed Flash plugin first.
Relaunch Safari.  From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Empty Cache
    Now try a video.
BTW... if you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
And check to see if Safari is running in 32 bit mode. Right or control click the Safari icon in your Applications folder then click Get Info. If the box next to:  Open in 32 bit mode  is selected, deselect, quit then relaunch Safari.
Tip... when you post for help, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed

  • When I try to play youtube video I get the message of blocked plug-in, and I can not play video using Safari. (Youtube works fine with google chrome) I tried installing flash player HTML5 etc... but still no difference.

I just installed OSX Mountian Lion, and ever since then I can not play youtube video's. I get the message of 'Blocked Plug-in' in the youtube screen. I have tried installing Adobe Flash Player. HTML 5, also tried enabling/disabling java, but nothing worked out. Is there any way I can play youtbe vieos on Safar. (It works fine with Google Chrmoe, only safari has problem)

If you have the ClickToFlash extension installed, that can prevent Flash based video from streaming. Safari > Preferences > Extensions
It can also be installed as a plugin in /Library/Internet-Plug-Ins.
Try uninstalling the currently installled Flash plugin (required for most YouTube content) then reinstall new >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
From your Safari menu bar top of your screen click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from the menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches

  • Having trouble playing some videos in IE9

    Vista Home Premium SP2
    32 bit
    IE9 and Firefox 7
I am having a terrible time with flash in IE9. I can not access that hardware acceleration feature to turn it off. If I right click on the video box I just get my normal context menu. I went to the page where it gives me the version of Flash I am using. I right clicked in that box and got the correct meny, but the option "Settings" is grayed out so that I can't select it.
Amazon.com provides videos on some products. For instance, Command Hooks. I can go to one Command product and play the video. If I go to another Command product and try to play the video, most times it just continues to show "Loading ..." and sometimes it will tell me I have to download Flash version 9 or above; I already have version 11.
It's hard to explain because it is so whacky. I can play videos on Amazon in Firefox 7.
I can also play videos on YouTube -- most of the time. Whenever I go up to the address bar, click on the blue circle to "Turn off ActiveX Filtering" and the circle remains blue, I know I am not going to be able to play the video.
Under uninstall or change a program it shows Adobe Flash Player 11 ActiveX and Adobe Flash Player 11 Plugin.
    Please, please someone, help!

Can you turn off ActiveX Filtering completely: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/867968 ?

  • ITunes won't play quicktime videos on Mac anymore.

    I'm using 10.7.3
    iTunes 10.6
    MacBook Pro 2.6Ghz 4GB ram
iTunes won't play my video anymore and it's been a while I'm not sure when it occured if it's after an update to snow leopard or iTunes updates...
When I double click a video I get "This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes." ??
...and cannot convert the option doesn't work I get this other message when trying to convert a version for APPLE TV in advanced menu "None of the selected files were converted because they could not be found."??
But the movies are quicktime movies in my library and the MPEG-4 plays in iTunes but not on APPLE TV.
From all my videos I get one only going through APPLE TV and when I try opening it it says error occured why opening and never works??
It seems APPLE is regularly messing things up in updates to loose people so they have to pay for tech support, I didn't upgrade to iPhoto 11 and cannot import anything anymore into it so my entire library is a dead one ; not a cool way to do business than messing people software so they have to buy newer versions!!!
Any specialists that know how to fix this ??

The 32-bit solution has never, I repeat, never worked for me.  I've even done a full reinstall on a clean drive of OSX Lion with a fresh install of iTunes downloading a video of "The Big Bang Theory" that just came out this last thursday and still get the error (just finished the full reinstall to a clean drive now and, no, I didn't do any backup restores.)
The only solution I've found is to remove the video from iTunes, without deleting the file, then import the file back into iTunes.
Switching to 32-bit iTunes to run the file causes iTunes to tell me it needs to open iTunes to play the file then it sits and waits for itself to open until I cancel the process.  The video then plays without audio.
I have noticed that I can stream the files to my Apple TV to play even while getting the error trying to play them on the computer I downloaded the files onto.
As a result of this error, I've had to reduce the amount of content I purchase from iTunes.  no more buying whole seasons at a time unless I do it at the start of the season.  Even then, I'm reconsidering it.  The amount of work required to get the files into a playable status on the computer is simply too great on an on-going basis.
