Play more than one genre at a time?

Is there a way to play 2 or more genres at a time to avoid shuffling all genres?
for example i want to be in the mood for pop and r&b with no classic or jazz in the mix!

Yes, put them into an *On-The-Go Playlist.*
(For anyone who doesn't know how to do this) scroll to the genre list and when you highlight the first of your chosen genres, press-and-hold the centre (select) button until the display flashes. Now scroll to the other genre and press-an-hold this one. Hey presto, both genres are now in the *On-The-Go Playlist.* As well as playing the list, you can save it or delete it when you've finished with it.

    The apple tv won't play more than one song on my playlist. And why can't there be playlists under "Music" and well as "Computer"?

    This has been a condition since day one.  The "working" icon just keeps going and it doesn't move on to the next song.  I've tried using the random play option as well to no avail.
    Is this when trying to stream content from iTunes using the Computers icons and Music submenu? I assume  the same happens when you try to play from the internet using the main Music icon too?  Is it only on Shuffle or when playing an album?
    What about movie rentals from itunes Store  - will they play ok?

    Connectivity isn't a problem, my home network has the latest tech and the Apple TV is within 15 feet anyway.
    While that seems logical don't entirely discount it - issues like this are incredibly frustrating to pin down to which component on the network is causing the problem  - your old AppleTV worked (with Windows 8?) so this makes the newer model the more likely culprit I would agree.
    Whenever there are issues like this, if you have not done so:
    1 - Unpower AppleTV, router and restart along with the computer.
    2 - If connecting via wifi and it is feasible to test with ethernet do so to exclude wifi as the problem somewhere in the chain.
    3 - If streaming from iTunes check the computer is not going to sleep - power saving with hard drives spinning down could potentially cause a 'timeout' issue for access and worth temporarily disabling to test.
    4 - Temporarily disable any security software (firewall/port blocking) on the computer or check if it is detecting AppleTV repeated connections as an unknown intrusion threat.
    5 - Reset AppleTV and set it up again from the Settings menu.
    6 - Restore AppleTV using iTunes and a microUSB to USB connection:
    Apple TV (2nd and 3rd generation): Restoring your Apple TV
    7 - Assuming under warranty, take it to an Apple store and see if you can get a replacement.  It may be faulty.
    As I said these issues can be very tricky to pin down and it can be a process of elimination.
    I had issues last year with connection problems - I thought it was an itunes update as there were threads elsewhere about multiple connections being established.  One day I restarted my router and the problem was fixed.  A few years ago my AppleTV1s were hanging after extended use - it was the Netgear router overheating ( aknown fault with that particular model).

  • How do I get iTunes to play more than one song at a time on my PC?

    I have selected all in a playlist, then click the play button. It plays only the first song in the playlist. How do I get it to play all of those selected?

    My iTunes is doing the same thing: when I select a playlist and hit "play," if shuffle is turned on, iTunes plays only one song and then stops. If shuffle is turned off, it plays just fine (one song after another, in order).
    Select the songs, right click - get info.
    Select the Options tab and Uncheck *Skip when shuffling*.
    Also, when I hit shuffle, it doesn't rearrange the songs in the playlist like it's supposed to.
    If you are sorting on any column besides the very first on before the track name, the songs will stay displayed in that same sort order.
    When you play the playlist, the list will jump around and be shuffled.
    If you are sorting on the very first column, the list will be displayed in the shuffled order and play in that order.

  • Why won't my iTunes 11 play more than one song at a time?

    Songs appear in "Up Next", but at the end of the song being played they disappear and nothing gets played next. This makes iTunes useless as a music player. Please help.

  • Can't play more than one podcast at a time

    Hi folks,
    I recently updated my nano so that it would work with the Nike+ accelerometor, and now my podcast playlists only play one podcast and then returns to the root directory. (this problem occurred BEFORE I ever got the Nike doohickey)
    Now I need to press the center button in series to move forward to the playlist and play another podcast.
    I was able to play podcasts one after another before the recent update.
    Has anyone else experienced this and come up a with a workaround?
    I like listening to the Onion radio podcasts, and it is quite annoying to have to play each one.
    iMac G5 20"   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Thanks Sluggospud, but that didn't work for MY nano.
    I tried both solutions, and each time only a single entry plays, afterwhich the system returns to the root directory with "music" selected.
    I did notice something wierd. If I choose any album except podcast albums, I can click the play button and the album starts to play. If I click on the Onion Radio news "album", nothing happens.
    The only way I can get any onion podcast to play is to enter the album (or artist or playlist) and click play on a single entry.
    I had been able to play podcast playlists before the most recent iPod updater. I don't know if I need to do some secret reset to get podcasts to play properly.

  • Library won't play more than one song at a time

    What gives? My iTunes suddenly won't play a sequence of songs. Not from the library as a whole, not from any playlist. The files are all still there and I can highlight and play any ONE, but iTunes won't then go on to the next. Tried 'select all', that didn't work either. What setting have I accidently changed? Just downloaded the newest iTunes just in case, but that didn't help. Still only 1 song at a time. Makes using iTunes as background pretty useless.

    Are you saying that when you hit PAUSE the song doesn't stop playing?
    If you want to jump to a different song while one is already playing, you don't need to hit pause/stop at all. Simply go to the song you want to here, double click it and the song that was playing will stop and the double clicked song will start. No need to use the Stop/Pause/Play type controls at all.

  • Playlists won't play more than one song at a time

    Hi
    I have setup some play lists, some play all the songs, others will only play one song then stop and I have to manually go to the next song. I don't understand and it's driving me mad! I read through some old posts on this and made sure that the check boxes next to my songs are ticked. I have also made sure that the shuffle & 'play playlist' icons are in blue. Is there anything else I can try? Please, please help!
    Gemma

    Besides the checkboxes next to songs, you might want to check the songs themselves with the Get Info command and make sure the "Skip When Shuffling" option it turned off. If your playlist is set to shuffle and your songs say skip when shuffling, then they won't play.
    Also, are these new playlists? Or are they playlists that were ok before but now (after upgrading to iTunes 7.6?) act differently?

  • ITunes will no longer play more than one song in a row

    I upgraded my iTunes and it seemed to be working fine. But all of a sudden I cannot get my libraray or any playlist ti play more than one song at a time automatically. It just stops after each song. Any ideas?
    Thanks

    But all of a sudden I cannot get my libraray or any playlist ti play more than one song at a time automatically. It just stops after each song.
    head into your itunes main library window. are all the little boxes to the left of your tracks unchecked?
    is so, hold down Ctrl and click on one of those boxes to recheck all the songs. (this may take a little time.)
    do you get continuous play once all the songs are rechecked?

  • Play more than one sound

    I want to write a program that can play more tha one music file(wav).
    I have used threat and mixer(javax.sound.sample.*) but Ican't do this.
    Help me please !!!!!!
    And show me some code example about mixer if can
    Thank you very much !!!!!!!!

    Here is a simple solution for playing more than one sound at the time. It uses two classes where the first is a thread that plays a sound, and the second is a "container" that loads and stores your sounds.
    SoundThread.java
    import javax.sound.sampled.*;
    public class SoundThread extends Thread
        private Clip soundClip = null;
        private int soundIndex = 0;
        private int loopCount = 0;
        private boolean donePlaying = false;
         * Constructor
         * @param acClip Clip The sound clip.
         * @param index int The index of the sound (so that the correct thread can be found when a sound should be stopped.)
        public SoundThread( Clip clip, int index )
            soundIndex = index;
            soundClip = clip;
            soundClip.stop();
            soundClip.flush();
            soundClip.setFramePosition( 0 );
            soundClip.setLoopPoints(0, -1);
            setPriority(Thread.MIN_PRIORITY);
          * Tell the thread to play the sound once and start playback.
         public void playSound()
             loopCount = 0;
             start();
         * Tell the thread to loop the sound and start playing.
        public void loopSound()
            loopCount = Clip.LOOP_CONTINUOUSLY;
            start();
         * Stop playing the sound in this thread.
        public void stopSound()
            soundClip.stop();
            soundClip.flush();
            soundClip.setFramePosition( 0 );
            donePlaying = true;
         * Get the index of this particular sound clip.
         * @return int The index.
        public int getSoundIndex()
            return soundIndex;
         * Has the sound finished playing?
         * @return boolean True iff it's done.
        public boolean isDonePlaying()
            return donePlaying;
         * Play the sound in the thread.
        public void run()
            soundClip.loop( loopCount );
            donePlaying = true;

                 c.stop();
                 c.flush();
                 c.close();
             clipList = null;
    }Here is an example of how to use these classes:
        public static final void main( String[] args )
            try
                SoundPlayer sp = new SoundPlayer();
                int clip1 = sp.setSound("clip1.wav");
                int clip2 = sp.setSound("mySounds/clip2.aiff");
                int clip3 = sp.setSound("clip3.au");
                sp.loop( clip1 );
                Thread.sleep( 5000 );
                sp.play( clip2 );
                Thread.sleep( 1000 );
                sp.play( clip3 );
                Thread.sleep( 4000 );
                sp.stop( clip1 );
                sp.dispose();
            catch( Exception ex )
                ex.printStackTrace();
    ...The main weakness of this solution is that if you've got two or more instances of the same sound looping and want only one of them to stop, then, sorry, they're all stopped. There are probably more weak points but these two classes have worked well for my purposes so far.
    Hope this solves at least part of your problem.
    Hjalti
    PS. I have assembled these two classes from code snippets and examples found here and there on the Web so I'm in no way claiming to be the original author of all of this code. Unfortunately I haven't registered where it all came from so I'm unable to give credit where credit is due.

  • Can you put music in more than one genre without creating a new genre?

    My question is more specific than the subject. Is it possible to put albums and music in more than one genre category and not have it make a new genre in itself?
    (I view my music as a list, column browser on top. Genre is the left-most category and I narrow down what I'm looking for from there, left to right.)
    For example, I would like to have one album (Kundun) in both the "classical" genre category AND the "soundtrack" category. When I highlight the album and view the information("info") and at the bottom write "classical, soundtrack" in the genre drop down box, instead of listing the album in both classical and in soundtrack, iTunes instead creates an entirely new genre called "classical, soundtrack." This defeats the purpose, because it now separates it out from the rest of my classical music, or soundtrack music.
    Is there a solution to get what I am looking for? The album shows up in the soundtrack genre, and can show up in the classical genre.
    Thanks.
    Running iTunes version 9.0.1

    iOS devices and Apple TV's will only send the audio to one Airplay speaker at a time. However, iTunes on a computer will send audio to multiple Airplay speakers. With the help of Home Sharing and Apple's free Remote app on an iOS device you can control iTunes as well as the speakers connected to it.

  • Unable to move more than one song at a time

    For some reason, iTunes has stopped allowing me to move more than one song at a time to playlists or my manually-managed iPod. I can grab as many songs as I want, but when I drag them over to the sidebar, i don't get the little green plus sign that means you can add the songs.
    If I only select one song, it woks fine.

    Did you by any chance uncheck the the boxes beside any or all of the songs in the library? Unchecked songs won't play in a playlist or the library unless you select them individually: iTunes: Understanding the Symbols Next to Songs
    Holding down the Control key and clicking the checkbox next to a song in the library or a playlist will toggle the marks for all the songs on or off: : iTunes 7 Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows

    Hi Darwin
    Yes best tool is FinalCut Pro and it's MultiCamera function.
    But one can do it in a fairly easy way in FinalCut Express
    • Drop Camera one clip into video track 1
    • Camera two => V-track 2
    • Camera three => V-track 3
    Double click on the clip in track 1.
    Now You see it in Viewer
    Turn on Image + Wireframe (above the picture in viewer window)
    Now shrink it to take up a Quater and move it up to the left hand corner
    Repeat with track 2 and three but move them into a free corner
    Now when You play TimeLine You see all three videos playing in concordance.
    Now You have to move them so that they sync. I use a photo flash during recording
    to get one white frame on all cameras
    Then to the edit.
    Turn on Toggle Clips Overlays [alt+W] - this turns on the transparicy line in each
    videoclip and audio level on those
    I use the transparicy line and the Pen tool to increase transparacy to 100% on the
    part of a clip I want visibly and drag down the other two to 0%
    When I've done this trough out the full TimeLine
    • I go into each Video track and restore size to 100% and that they fill window
    Now playback and see if You are satisfied.
    Still - You now have to figure out on which Audio that works best.
    Good Luck
    BUT in FinalCut Pro this is very much more better and most of all time saving.
    Yours Bengt W

  • ITunes 8.1 Can't Seem to do More Than One Thing at a Time

    I upgraded to 8.1 and now, rather than a "faster" iTunes experience as was advertised on Apple's website, iTunes can't seem to do more than one thing at a time without locking up the application completely. For instance, when trying to download podcasts if I choose to hit more than one "Get" button at a time iTunes will freeze up until the first podcast has completely downloaded. During this time I cannot access any other screen in iTunes at all.
    This freezing of iTunes also occurred while I was trying to sync my iPhone 3G. I received the Calendar sync error that a few other people have mentioned on the forum and wanted to turn off Calendar sync (since I don't use it and don't understand why iTunes turned it on by default, apparently, after the upgrade) but I had to wait for my iPhone 3G to completely sync before I could gain access to any of the tabs in the iPhone sync window.
    So, basically it seems like the new version of iTunes (8.1) really doesn't like to be bothered while it is trying to copy data from one place to another.
    Any ideas?

    I'm using Vista Ultimate 64-bit and iTunes 8.1 installed OK, but required a restart of the entire OS after upgrading. It takes forever to launch, clicking on certain items (like applications) causes itunes to freeze for about 15-30 seconds before it continues (this is actually something that's been there since the introduction of the app store), I've had to switch my library view to LIST and avoid any sort of album art. Using album art to view my library causes iTunes to be extremely, obnoxiously unresponsive.
    The best part - plugging in my iPhone to sync it... iTunes simply sits there dumbly - doesn't even recognize that I've plugged my iPhone in. So now I can't even sync. QUALITY product, quality. So the app I'm FORCED to use to manage my phone doesn't even work after upgrading. Outstanding.
    I'm terrified of uninstalling and reinstalling... the last time I did that with iTunes it jacked my library up... it "lost" all of my music... basically it disassociated all of the music (even the stuff purchased through the itunes store) with the index file so I had to re-import EVERY song and delete the duplicate entry.
    I searched a ton of forums looking for any clues as to how I could improve performance... All I run into is apple fan boys flaming any and all forums to the point of PC *****, no Apple *****, and so forth. Extremely unhelpful.
    The fact is this - if I wasn't forced to use iTunes to manage my non-jailbroken iPhone 3G, then I'd dump it completely. It is a horrible app. Why punish the customers that haven't gone the route of "jail breaking" their iPhones?
    One individual on one of the forums suggested that blue screens, and all the other random errors, including slow performance were due to a lack of RAM. I have 4GB of RAM on my machine I can run a virtual Fedora core 9 machine and a virtual WinXP machine on my Vista x64 box and still not have any performance issues with those two virtuals in the background sucking up system resources, yet with nothing open and less than 50% of my 4GB of RAM in use iTunes performance is abysmal. I have not run into any other application on my Vista machine that performs as badly as iTunes.
    And Apple is touting a "64-bit" version of iTunes - it isn't. The applications the 64-bit installer installs are all 32-bit.
    So, I'm searching as the two of you are for an answer to horrible performance of iTunes.
    Even exiting out of iTunes takes a day and a half... "saving itunes library".... And my "library" isn't that big.
