Play movies on my mac onto tv

Hi, i know this has been asked loads, but i just wanna make sure this will work before i spend the money on it.
i've got a dual 1.8 g5 with an ati 9600. i want to watch movies from my mac on a tv in another room.
i was going to buy a adc to vga adapter for my monitor, and then buy a dvi to svhs adapter to get the tv signal.
then i was going to plug this into a video and then send this signal to the other tv with some sort of wireless tv link.
does anyone see any problems with this? i have heard that the signal needs to be plugged straight into a tv for it to work as it needs to detect the resolution. will this still work with my set up?

and i'm in the uk, so i would need pal. is there actually a difference thou between the two connectors?? cause the other one doesn't say it's specifically ntsc?
also, what would the quality be like for this set up? i have a divx dvd player at the moment, but it's so tempremental, so this is really a replacement for that. plus this gives me a lot more options, for almost the same price as a decent[ish] divx dvd player.

Playing movies from my Mac to my TV??

I connnected my Macbook Pro to my TV to play some movies from it. I've put the TV on the "computer" input but it only shows my "celestial" home screen. I start hte movie on the Mac but it won't play on the TV. I'm looking for the key combination to switch modes on my Mac but can't seem to find it. Any suggestions on how I can correct this?? Thanks.

No volume ... or no sound at all?
If no volume, perhaps you have the volume on your MBP muted or turned down; or the TV volume turned down.
If no sound at all, then you proably need to connect the audio-out of your MBP to the appropriate audio-in on your TV. (Only certain MBP models support audio via the miniDisplayPort/Thunderbolt port video output. Many models require a separate audio connection in addition to the video connection.)

I have just connected my MacBook to my TV with a mini Display port to DVI Adapter which was connected ta HDMI to DVI Video Cable which I connected to my TV. I turned my TV on and my TV could not find any signal. I used the TV menu to connect to HDMI , but it said there was no signal. What do I do now?

Playing movies from iTunes store on another computer

I am admittedly new to iTunes, but I was wondering if I can access my purchases on another computer? Or is what I downloaded from the store only downloaded onto one specific computer and inaccessible again from the store without repurchasing it? I downloaded a few movies onto my mac but I wanted to burn the movies from my Dell onto a DVD. Can I do that without saving the movies from my mac onto a flash drive and transferring the files to my Dell?

To view on another computer you need to transfer the file to the other computer. Add the file to iTunes on that computer. If iTunes on the second computer is authorized with the same account as the first one, the file will play.

When you say tit only sees your music folder, are you saying it only sees your music folder or does it see other empty folders.

DVDPlayer not recognizing DVD. I have an IMAC (10.7.4) using DVDPlayer (vers. 5500.26.11) and will not recognize/play a dvd movie...it thinks it is a blank dvd. The dvd movie plays fine on my Mac Book Pro (10.6.8) on the Pro's DVDPlayer (vers.5.4).

Can I move only my iTunes movies, not my iTunes music, onto a flash drive? And, is there a program (apart from iTunes) that can play movies on MacBook Air?

I have a MacBook Air and I need to free up space...
1) I have three series of a tv show on my itunes which are taking up loads of memory - see image - I want to move these movie files onto a Flash Drive. However I do not want to move my itunes Music onto the flash drive, only my Movies, and want to keep my music on my hard drive.
Is this possible?
2) I have managed to copy the movie files onto the flash drive, however when I tried to play one to check that they were loaded properly it didn't have a program that could run the file (they have copied over in a m4V format). If you can play the movies in iTunes, you should be able to open the movie files using Quicktime, which should already be on your system. If you have already transferred the files to your flash drive, open the flash drive in Finder, and hold control when you click on the movie file (or right click if you have the enabled) and select Open With Quicktime Player. This should play the movie directly from the flash drive.

You can move the TV shows to your flash drive by dragging them from the iTunes window to your flash drive in Finder or the flash drive icon on the desktop. When you are sure everything is transferred over to your external device, you can delete the movie from iTunes. I recommend playing the videos from the flash drive first before deleting them in iTunes.
To delete the videos from iTunes, you can highlight them and press the delete key on your keyboard. In the next prompt, you would want to move it to the trash so that it is deleted from your internal hard drive.

Can't play movie from gallery on mac

I can not play movies from my gallery on my macbook. These movies are imported from Canon A630 to iPhoto. In iPhoto I can play them well. All of them are published to my mobileme gallery using iPhoto. Then I open this gallery in Safari on my macbook to check if everything was published. I visited this page earlier and installed divx, xvid, recode raw and ensharpen codecs. Also I have Perian and Flip4mac installed codecs. So my main question is: why can't I play movies from gallery using safari if in the same time I can view them well from iPhoto?
Playing of movies published with iMovie works well. But this does not matter to me since I want videos to be published in events with photos. If iPhoto has functionality to publish videos so it must work! Also I must mention that videos published with iPhoto can be played without problems from my PC with safari+quick time for windows. But under my Mac none of Safari, Firefox and Camino can view videos from my gallery. So I think problem is in QuickTime.

Apple TV won't load or play movies from my MBP library (through both airplay and homesharing), but will from my mac mini. Help!

I have been using my apple TV seamlessly with all my apple products (Mac Mini, iphone, MBP, ipad). Everything worked perfectly until recently (I noticed the issue about 3 weeks ago), when the apple TV won't load and play any movies from my iTunes library located on my MBP. The Library loads, and I can see everything, but as soon as I press play, the spinning load icon appears and doesn't stop. Same when I play movie from itunes directly and send it via airplay. Desktop mirroring no problem.
I have checked, and films are being played perfectly from my other devices, as does airplay and mirroring

For Apple TV to access your library while the host computer is asleep, "Wake for network access" must be turned on.
Open System Preferences > Energy Saver and select (enable) the "Wake for network access" option.
In addition, the network that the host computer and the Apple TV (2nd or 3rd generation) is connected to must support Wake on Demand feature. This works by partnering with a service running on your AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule called Bonjour Sleep Proxy.

Trouble Playing QT movies from my .Mac account

Here is one for you. I produce videos and wanted to play some of my stuff for a client on the iPhone. Now, understand it I download the movie from iTunes to the iPhone, I can play it beautifully. Here is the issue. I try to access my movie on the .Mac page through Safari and I get a grayed-out symbol of some type, and no movie. I have the movies as .mp4s on the .Mac page and they work fine from other computers. Has Apple not created a way to allow movies to be played or streamed from the .Mac side of the world? I can pay YouTube stuff and watch movie trailers. I am sure it is a little quirk somewhere and would appreciate some suggestions.

Is that why I can go to my website and play movies that were done a couple of years ago and play them perfectly on the iPhone, but recently encoded stuff won't play? That is what has bothered me. Apple changed something on the site (.Mac Account) some time ago and the video stuff changed. I have tried QT and Compressor anything I can find to encode as I use to. It is not the end of the world, but one of those things that I would like to get working. I certainly can download movies from my site and install them on the iPhone, but it would be neat to have a QT player that would work off the internet side. I am encoding things in H.264 now, but getting the funny icon that won't enable play through the internet.

First we need to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
