- I bought my Apple TV last week and connected Home Sharing on my windows computer, TV and my iPhone, iPad and iPod
- But when we were testing out playing a movie through the TV, I also tried to play a song from my iTunes on my computer, but it stopped the movie on the TV.

Yes.
Where are you starting the movie from, you need to start it on the Apple TV and start the music on your computer. You can't initiate multiple streams from the computer but multiple devices can initiate multiple streams when started from the device.
We have a number of Apple TV's and often watch and listen to different content on each at the same time.

Playing music and video games at the same time, itunes gets distorted.....

i have a problem. i used to be able to play music while play games such at warcraft and counter strike but when i installed the new intunes 7 i cannot do that anymore. the music is all distored and speeds up and slows down. as if the cd is scratched really bad. it is really frustrating. does anyone now how to fix this or is it unfixable?

i found a fix for WoW
Open the World of Warcraft folder on your hard drive (Default Folder: C:\Program Files\World of Warcraft).
- Open the *** folder.
- Open the Config.*** file using a text editor, like WordPad.
Add the following line to the list if it doesn't exist:
SET SoundOutputSystem "x"
Set "x" to be 1 first, if it still occurs bump it to 2 and so on up to 4.
you must restart WoW everytime you change the number.

Yes, any audio during the "mirroring" funtion will forward to the appletv. This includes all system audio, games, apps, ect. If you slide the mute botton the side of your ipad to mute then you can block app audio and just get Music audio or Pandora if you are using pandora.

Just wondering if there is a way to play tunes and watch the slideshow at the same time. This would be great when showing a slideshow on a TV screen with tunes playing in the background.
If not, I would have to make a slideshow in iMovie with a sound track and load that into the iPod.

Yes.
Go into slideshow settings > Music > and select a playlist.
Then, select a photo library, and press PLAY.

Dual screen-annotate and watch videos at the same time?

Does anyone know a way to annotate pdfs while watching a video lecture at the same time? I have tried notability and side by side but both lack the capabilities to do both. Thanks

Uninstalled everything PA, also uninstalled mangler which was the only thing that depended on PA. It didn't work anyway.
No pulseaudio --kill command so I couldn't run.
Checked systemd journal and there is no mention of PA this time.
Checked top, and grepped ps aux and there is no PA there either.
I also rebooted the machine completely just to make sure. However VLC and HTML5 have the same incompatibilities.

But the video and audio did work until I ran some HTML5 video, after which the audio worked, and then I opened it again and it didn't work...

How to listen to music and record sound at the same time

I want to figure out a way to record sound and listen to my music at the same time. Most recording apps stop my music when it starts to record and I can't find an app that does both. Any ideas?

Not possible since the iPod only has one audio processor.

Can't play DVD and use Spotlight at the same time.

I have been running in to all sorts of problems while playing a DVD. I have TV shows on DVD, so I watch them while I work. Everytime I have one playing and I open Spotlight to search for something my PB begins making this very loud noise. I don't know if it is my DVD player or something else, but as soon as I delete what is was I was searching for in Sportlight, it stops. It really bugs hearing this noise, because it sounds like something is wrong. If anybody can help, that would be great.

Oh sorry, perhaps I wasn't clear.
I have noticed that when you ask the optical drive to do one thing, it spins perfectly well and does what it is supposed to.
If however you ask it do a second thing while it is still doing the first, then the laser skips between the two jobs and sounds strange.
So... If you had a dvd or cd with 2 large files on it and
a) Selected BOTH files together and copied them to the desktop, the drive would spin fast and transfer the files.
b) Selected one file to copy and started the transfer to the desktop, THEN while the first was copying, selected a SECOND file from the DVD and started copying that, you would find the laser skipping between the two jobs.
I thought that if you do this, and it is the same as what happens when watching a dvd and using spotlight, then it could be that spotlight is indexing the dvd while it is playing and the drive is therefore trying to do two things at once.

My iPod is playing internal and external sound at the same time when my headphones are connected

Hi, I have an iPod nano, 16 GB, 5th gen, that I've had for almost five years. It has never given me any problems before, but today when I plugged in my headphones the sound played not only inside the headphones but through the iPod's external speaker. When I turn the volume up or down only the external sound goes up or down, the headphones still play music at the same volume. I tried connecting the iPod to other headphones, and inserted and removed the headphone jack from the iPod about 20 times, the only thing I haven't tried is restoring because I don't know if that would make any difference and I would like to avoid restoring if I can. Thank you for your time.

I want to begin playing a midi file and then immediately while the music is still playing I want to update the screen, for ex. panel.update();It now seems that that whole screen freezes until the music has finished. How can I simultaneously update UI and play midi. Please help. Thanx!

The iPhone can maintain multiple pairing records, but it can only connect to one headset or hands-free device at a time. However, in your situation there may be a solution. You can connect the iPhone via Bluetooth for calls and use the 3.5mm jack on your iPhone and car radio to connect for music.

Can Airport Express / Computer be set up to steam music and go online at the same time?

I can only connect my MacBook to one device (wireless modum and airport extreme) at a time. I have gotten a few error messages during setup that make me wonder if it is the "refurb" device that is bad. I get error messages when I try to set it up wirelessly. Or do I need the extreme to do what I want? I installed all updates it asked for as well.

Yes, both can be done simultaneously. You just need to reconfigure the AirPort Express Base Station (AX) to "join" the wireless network provided by the other wireless router.
AirPort Express Base Station (AX) - iTunes Setup
Either connect to the AX's wireless network or connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then using the AirPort Utility in "Manual Setup" mode, make the following changes:
AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup > AirPort > Wireless
Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network
Network Name: <existing wireless network>
Wireless Security: <select the encryption type of the existing wireless network>
Wireless Password: <enter the existing wireless network password>
Verify Password: <re-enter the existing wireless network password>
AirPort Utility > Select the AX > Manual Setup >Music
Enable AirTunes (checked)
iTunes Speaker Name: <enter desired speaker name>
iTunes Speaker Password: (optional)
Verify Password: (optional)
Click Update to write the new settings to the AX

Let's double-check your AX's settings...
To set up AirTunes on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX), using the AirPort Admin Utility, connect your computer directly (using an Ethernet cable) to the Ethernet port of the AX, and then, try these settings:
AirPort tab
- Base Station Name: <whatever you wish or use the default>
- Wireless Mode: Join an Existing Wireless Network (Wireless Client)
- Wireless Network: <select your Belkin wireless network>
Music tab
- Enable AirTunes on this base station (checked)
- Enable AirTunes over the Ethernet port (optional)
- iTunes Speaker Name: <whatever you wish>
- iTunes Speaker Password (optional)
In iTunes:
iTunes > Preferences... > Advanced > General
- Look for remote speakers connected with AirTunes (checked)

Crackling and popping sound when playing music and watching youtube videos

there is a crackling and popping sound when i watch videos on youtube or play music/videos using vlc media player and windows media player. recently it has gotten to a point where it happens when windows is starting up or even when the laptop is required to play a sound for example when i plug in a removeable hardware such as thumbdrives

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP 2000 Notebook and getting a buzzing or popping sound while playing music and watching Youtube videos. Try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook that might have caused this.
You can try this
1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner.
2. Click Playback Devices.
3. Click Speakers.
4. Click properties.
5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
7. Apply the properties.
8. Click OK to close the properties window.
What happens if you right click on the video while playing a video and take the check out of hardware acceleration. Shut the browser down and restart the notebook.
Have you checked for an update on the Active X.
