Check out the article below on using AirPlay. The main thing is to swipe up and access Control Center, and then you will see an option for AirPlay. Tap AirPlay and then select Apple TV and you are good to go.

Hi, we have two iphones with two accounts. The apple tv automatically syncs with one account to play music from the iphone to apple tv. How can I use my iphone to do the same?
Our experience is a little different, we have different iTunes accounts for different family members, each family member has their own iTunes library on their own mac, each mac uses my Apple ID for homesharing and we are able to play purchased content from each library on the Apple TV.

I installed the latest software update on our Apple TV - this allows us to access VIMEO. However, although we can still play music from an iPhone 4 we can no longer play purchased tv shows - unless the buffering process has been extended to be glacially slow! It just shows it is loading but under the previous software release a show would start in a minute or two, nothing is happening afer 4 or 5 minutes with this one.

Can i play music from my iphone4 through my apple tv2, my atv2 does not show my iphone, i have a home sharing network set up through my airport extreme.

I have gone into ipod settings on the phone and entered the home sharing details, is there anything else i need to do to enable it?,

The genuine Apple adapter works for me, most cheap knockoffs do not support sound ,it is usually in the micro print at bottom of the ebay offerring
It is pricey by comparison but it works and the knock offs usually don't pay the patent licence fee hence they guess the technology that is in the lightning plug

When I'm playing music from my laptop on my Apple TV2, I'd like to shrink the album on the screen so it's in the bottom corner, not filling the screen.
I don't believe that's possible. It will either fill the screen, or will show a thumbnail when the screensaver is on (disappearing after a few seconds)

I play music from my iPhone via Bluetooth on the car radio. The phone also connects over the radio. Can I turn off Bluetooth for phone and leave it on for music?
I haven't tried it yet, but I believe this would disconnect Bluetooth for both the phone and music. I have a 2013 Hyundai Sonata if this will help.

I have a new iphone6+ and have paired it to my 3 cars. When playing music from my iphone, the volume is very low and I have to turn the car volume to max to listen. I had no issues with previous iphone parings. Pls help.

Apparently in iOS 8 there are different volume settings for different applications
The setting on the home screen does not carry over to Pandora for example and it is different ( or at least appears to be) for the in-car experience.
So I would try to stream the music when not in the car - see if you can turn the volume up and then try again in the car

Playing music from my iPhone 4s to my Apple TV
When trying to play music stored on my iPhone 4S to my Apple TV, my connection crackles and then breaks connection. This has only just started happening, does anyone know why this is and how to rectify it.
Many thanks.as you are going over a wireless network is sounds like maybe interference, try changing hte channel on your router.... interference is random and can be caused by several different wireless networks or wireless devices (cordless phones, blue tooth devices, gaming controllers) criss crossing signals creating a maze of wireless connections for signals to cross through, sometimes this creates interference and can cause things like fuzzy sounding music, dropping connections, slow downloading speeds
a solution for changing the channel is to try and power cycle all devices ( wireless router, phone and atv) the router may choose another channel on its own
if this does not work go to istumbler.com find out what channel has the least amount of interference on it and change your channel to run on that specific channel
also try other sounds via apple tv (like playing something like you tube from the apple tv to ensure that it does not have sound issues also....if sound issue are across the board try and restore the apple tv or consider another HDMI cable -
The Airport Express is not finding my wireless network. I do not have any of the devices listed below. I have a Belkin wireless router. Can I still use Airport Express ( without plugging an ethernet cable into it) ? Any ideas for how to make it find my network ? It is sitting next to the wireless router-so is in range.

Airplay stops playing music from my iPhone 5 IOS7 after 5 minutes or so.
I want to listen to my music on my tv using Apple TV (latest Apple TV with latest firmware) from my iPhone 5. But after 5 minutes it stops playing. What can be done about this?
I have been scouring everywhere for a solution to a similar problem where the audio would drop out for a second or two ever 5 or so seconds - regardless of whether we were streaming content or using an iPad and Air Play.
I tried changing the audio channels on the ATV as suggested elsewhere and here - no luck.
Played with the settings on the Air port Express - no luck.
We swapped the ATV to a different tv and it worked fine.
Then played with the audio settings on the SONY Bravia - no luck.
Swapped the audio out on the ATV to play through the Air Port Express and plugged in the some headphones. NO AUDIO DROP OUTS!
My deduction - a problem with the HDMI cable. Borrowed a friend's cable - wasn't going to spend another $50+ if the cable wasn't the problem. And lo and behold the HDMI cable was the problem.
Only took 3 hours. -
Can't play music from my iphone on itunes?
I don't understand this problem. I haven't done it in about a year, but I used to be able to play my iphone library of songs on my laptop through itunes.
Now all my music is grayed out. I checked to see if its authorized, and it is. That is fine.
The mp3's are not bought through itunes, if that makes any difference? (CD's, old collections, etc...)
I can play it fine from my iphone.

And basically what I was finally told by the folks at the apple store, is that there is no way to do this without syncing, and I don't want to sync. I want my music to be mobile, I don't want to have to copy it to every computer I want to listen to it on. I want to listen to it from the device, and be able to buy a new album at work or at home. This is a major disappointment for me, as every other device I have owned including my iPod Touch had this capability. I could authorize 5 machines and manually sync, and the music on that device could be played and managed on those authorized machines. For example, my wife has her own music collection, and I have mine, but we have a media center connected to our flat-screen in the living room, that we use for playing music when we are entertaining guests, and with our old iPods and iPod Touch devices, we could unplug one of our devices and plug the other persons in and listen to music from both our libraries without copying the music to that computer. Now with our iPhones there is no way to keep our seperate librarys and be able to play music on multiple computers in our house and at work, which we have always been able to do until our iPhones. The whole point of the iPhone for me was to be able to combine two devices and now because of the lack of this feature I still have to keep all our iPods around too... Dumb. I almost took our phones back because of this, and if apple doesn't fix it, I probably won't buy another. They should have at least mentioned this little fact before selling the devices to us. I know it's a different device, but it's similar enough that you expect it to work the same as the iPod and iPod Touch. It's not like I am wanting to be able to copy music from the device to multiple machines, it's exactly the opposite... I just want to be able to copy music to the device and listen to it at home and at work... why all apples other devices do this, and the iPhone doesn't is completely perplexing to me, and a serious oversight on there part.
