how do i make idvd automatically play the next item in the dvd i tried to create with 7 seperate video files??? please help

2. It can be faked in several ways
• Easiest and most fault proof way is to make a doublet movie containing All and with
Chapters set to match. It will take up x2 space but is easy to understand and produce.
• It's said that one can put all movies into a Photo/SlideShow and this will also
give the function of a Play All button - Tested - and ONE HAS TO un-cheque - Scale pictures else it will be a black frame all around and a small picture !

You might be able to get close to what you want by using a slideshow in iDVD. (It's not widely known, but you can put videos in a slideshow.) If you set the slide duration to manual, playback will pause after each movie/slide, and you can continue with the 'next' button.
3. Using another program to do this eg. Roxio Toast™ where there is a Play All button option.

Select a song to play next (after current song)

I love iTunes, but for me it's just missing one thing....
I can't (at least I don't know how) select a certain song from my playlist to play AFTER the current song is finished... If it would have that function, or a way to do this, it would be ALL I need for a music player.
Is there a way in iTunes to select the song to play next?
And/or arrange your playlist in the way (the order of songs) you want?

iTunes doesn't have the "queuing" option you describe (except within the Party shuffle function which queues songs and within which you can drag songs into order). If you'd like to see an option like this in some futer version of iTunes you can send feedback/feature requests directly to Apple at this link: Apple Product Feedback

Open the playlist and click on the number column (extreme left). Click on the song you want to move, hold down the mouse button and drag the song to where you want it to be. Make sure neither Shuffle or Repeat are switched on in the playlist, either of those can prevent you reordering tracks.

DVD Drive will not play ANY movies

I seem to have the standard drive for the 15 inch MacBook Pro (bought less than one year ago), but it simply will not play ANY movie DVD I've tried. It whirrs and whirrs but nothing happens. I've tried multiple movies and none have worked. Yet it works fine with software cd's and loading on of new programs, and burned CDs with pictures display just fine. I checked the System info on the drive and notice that the last line - which is media - had a 'no' next to it. Is it not turned on or programmed to play movies??? If so, how do I activate it? Thanks for any help.

My MBP plays DVD and says no also, so that is not it. Sounds broken to me. Call Applecare and I do hope you paid for the 3 year Applecare. Did it EVER play DVDs?

How to play home movies on TV via Iphone and NAS Drive?

I have a problem playing transferred home movies on a flat screen tv through the “TV Out” feature of my Iphone 4.
Brief History:
I have captured about a TB worth of various home movie videos from VHS tape to my PC hard drive in AVI format using AVS Video Recorder. I used AVS Video Converter to convert the AVI movie files to M4V files, to play these movies on my IPhone. I then copied these M4V video files to a Western Digital “My Book Live” NAS Drive which allows me to view any video using my Iphone, via a WD app, without using Iphone internal memory. This works so far.
The problem is that I thought I could show these videos to family members through their big screen TV at their house, and by hooking my Iphone to their tv’s audio/video inputs, via cables, using TV Out and access the videos from my NAS Drive as I could when using the Iphone alone. However, the home movies do not play on the TV! After a conversation with Apple Techs I was told that using the Iphone’s “TV Out” feature to view video onto a TV, via the Iphone , only works for video that is stored on the internal memory of the Iphone itself, not for accessing 3rd party drives as my NAS.
I was told that there are ways around this like:
-    Syncing certain videos to the Iphone (to save storage space) and viewing them on TV via “TV OUT”
-    Getting an IPad (bigger screen then Iphone) and accessing the videos through the Apple Cloud
-    Using Apple TV and accessing movies via the cloud (which means I would have to bring and hook-up Apple TV to the receiving TV). Not sure about this method.
-    Something about Airplay and mirrioring???
So my question is: Is there any way to access my NAS drive (which has all videos stored) and play those videos on another household’s TV, for many people to comfortably view at once, via my Iphone? Or, is there another method?
Any advice would be appreciated.

Cannot Play .DAT Movie Files in Real Player/Java Media Player

Hi,
I wanted to play some movie files in Solaris 10 (Was curious if the movie might be rendered more crisply in Solaris than Windows :) ) but found that .DAT files are not played in Java Media Player.
So I downloaded the Real Player for Solaris 10 x86 (The bin file which is a self executable installer). Now Real Player plays mp3 songs without a problem, just like Java Media Player, but it does not play any movies with a .DAT extension.
I thought may be I need to download a small patch and hence googled a bit, but could not find anything. So googled again to find if there was some work around, but could not come up with anything.
Has someone faced a similar problem? If anyone could help me with this, I would be really thankful.
P.S: I have boasted to my friends how good Solaris 10 is and if I get the .DAT movies working in Solaris 10, they will surely think of getting it installed on their comps cause it pretty much does everything else !!

That application is in the Applications -> Utilities Folder.
Change the popup menu under "Properties for" to Apple logo Built-in Output. And change the Source to Internal Speakers, and format to 44100.0 Hz with the downward pointing triangle next to the Hz rating.

Playing rented movies without an Internet connection?

I'm in the middle of moving, and won't have cable or Internet service until sometime next week. I'm wondering if I could take my AppleTV to the office, hook it up to the net, rent some movies, and then play those movies at home over the weekend? In short, do I need an Internet connection to authorize the playback of movies that are already on the device?

i believe internet access is required to authorise the playback of rented movies.

I have couple movies on the Apple TV. But Each time, I have press play to next movie.
How to do like Photo and Music? They are keep playing.
Is this possible? Any trick to play all movies on Apple TV without keep press play to continue to next movie.

Selecting What Child Of A SerialElement To Play Next

Is there a smart way to pick which child to play next in a serial element without modifying the internal SerialElementTransitionManager class? I understand the SerialElement by definition just plays elements in sequence, but it would be handy to be able to choose which child to play instead of having to deal with seeking using duration or chapter cuepoints. It seems the seeking fix suggested here (https://bugs.adobe.com/jira/browse/FM-952) is a bit clunky and thought there might be a different workaround that involved just changing the currently playing child and not seeking to a time.
One option I've been playing with is looping through a serial elements children (which I've made all proxy elements) and blocking the PlayTrait of all the children I want to skip over. This doesn't seem to be a very good solution either especially since I'm only able to move forward in time and can't skip backwards.
Thoughts?

Another possible approach here would be to use a custom ProxyElement rather than a SerialElement. This custom ProxyElement would maintain a list of children (similar to SerialElement), but it would only expose one child (the active child) by setting it as the proxiedElement. When that child dispatches the "complete" event, then it would change the proxiedElement to the next child. Unlike with SerialElement, you could choose which child gets set as the next child, and in general have more fine-grained control over the behavior of the children. We have a simple example of this in the ExamplePlayer sample, called SwitchingProxyElement.
That being said, it's important to understand that the advantage of SerialElement is that it was built to handle serial transitions between elements no matter what set of traits each child element has. For example, if you transition from a playable element to a non-playable element, or a temporal element to a non-temporal element (or vice-versa, or with the various permutations of these traits), then SerialElement does the right thing. However, if your child elements are all playable/temporal, then the transition is fairly straightforward, and could easily be implemented in a custom ProxyElement.

Embed question - play one movie after another

I am trying to figure out how to play a short 10 second clip before each movie on my website. The clip may be a short ad or a promo and will depend upon the content of the main video. What is the code that enables you to play one move after another in a web page. I don't want to edit the two clips to become one cos over time the ads and promos will change. In Realplayer I remember using SMIL but how is it done in QT. I will eventually write code to write out the Embed tag but now i am just experimenting. Here is what my drupal site puts out

Embed the initial movie clip as normal, but give it an HREF property.
Set the source for the HREF to be the next movie, set autohref=true, and set target="myself". It's the same technique you use to build a poster movie but (a) instead of having the poster movie open QT Player, you have its target open in its own frame and (b) instead of waiting for a user to click the poster, you have the poster movie "click itself".
Code that I used a very long time ago to display a "Loading..." graphic as a movie loaded (waste of effort, actually, as the movie is fast start and loads very fast):

Why is QT not playing my movies which have been exported from FCPX?

Nov 11, 2012 1:07 AM Hello there. I have posted this post in Mac intel forums but have been redirected to post this post in FCPX forums and hence I am posting this thread here. Hope I will be given the proper answer to my problem/s which seem to be growing day after day.
I hope this is the right forum to place this post.
I have been facing this problem for the past 2 days only and I remember it all started after I had exported my latest project in FCPX. The exported file would not open up in quicktime player, and I started getting this notice even with other movies which were exported earlier and were being played by QT with no problem.
The screenshot given above came with with a movie I had exported about 2 months ago. At that time QT had no problem in playing it. But now, Why is it not able to play the same?
FYI, the latest project I had exported was started in fcpx 10-0-5 version and I had upgraded to the latest 10-0-6 version while the project was yet unfinished.
Apart from this problem, a number of other problems also have simulataneously raised their heads: FCPX is not opening up: stating that there is a corrupt data base which has to either restored or moved. And, when I try to move or delete the corrupt files via finder, I am not being allowed to delete them...error code -50 being the 'culprit'.
I am growing faint with all these malfunctioning and am in a perplexity of what to do next!
Any helps or guidance will be deeply appreciated.

Hello, hello, hello to one and all! Both the goose and Karsten's horse have been resurrected. HO HO HO am I on the top of the world. I feel that in asingle moment I have been transferred from the depths of the Dead sea to the top of Mount Everest!
What seemed to have worked is this:
I selected one QT movie which was not being opened and subjected it to PMan which did a rebuild and created an new repaired movie. I played it on QT and to my pleasant surprise it opened and I could watch the movie. There was one movie which was not being played in QT. I attempted to repair the same with Pman, but received a notice that it could'nt. It was not an important one and so I deleted the same. I tried playing other movies and found out that QT was playing the other exported movies which it was not opening earlier. Next, before opening FCPX I first opened the final cut events and deleted, or rather, was able to delete one particular event which I had been suspecting to be the cause of all these malfunctions: it was a still image captured on my daughter's Galaxy and she had sent the same to me via email a few days ago. I had imported the pic. into an event. When FCPX began its refusal to start misbehavior, it blamed this pic as one of the corrupt files which had to be restored or moved. Deleting this pic resulted in the resurrection of my works and I am taking no more chances in this matter. Right now I am in the process of duplicating completed projects on my scratch drive and archiving them in a different drive. I am duplicating them only with the used clips. Guess if any further clips are needed while rediting the work later, I could always import fresh clips into the event.
Thanks to all of you who have been helping me out in this thread. Any guidance as to how to avoit getting into this unpleasant situation will be received with attentive ears.

Play next succesive 10 frames

I need to specify this:
from the current playhead position which might for example be
on frame 25,
and which it is resting on a stop frame
upon the release of a button on stage
tell the swf movie which might happen to be on frame 25,
(although I could be on any frame)
to play the next 10 frames (for example frames 26-35) then
stop, (there will be no stop frame here (for example frame 35)
and then go to a specific specified frame in the movie and
play until it happens upon another stop frame.
instead of a simple go to and play frame command, I need to
begin playing from current position and play the next 10 frames,
stop and or redirect to a different specifed frame

current stop position and stop.
At which point I can redirect to a new frame

It's certainly possible to accomplish what you're after by
using
timelines (that is, tweens), but if you're reaching this far
into
ActionScript territory, why not take a few steps farther and
manipulate the
MovieClip._alpha property of these movie clips themselves?
I don't know what your comfort level is with ActionScript,
or with
progamming in general, so forgive me if I go into too much
detail. It helps
if you get yourself squared with objects and what they mean
in this
environment. Just about everything in ActionScript can be
referred to as an
object, and objects are defined by their namesake classes.
Arguably the
most important object to really "get" is defined by the
MovieClip class.

Using CaptivatePlayer to play more movies

OK, I have limited, if at all, experience with Flash so I am
hoping the
following is a matter of configuration.
Situation.
I have 5 swf files that I want to play consecutively. 4
lessons. If the pupil
finishes one course, I want it to automatically load the next
movie.
But of course I also want the flexibility that Player gives
me.
Is there a way to configure CaptivatePlayer so that it will
continue with the
next movie in the list after it finishes a movie?
While allowing the pupil to still select something else?

SUGGESTION: "Play next"-function in iTunes

Sometimes, when I listen to music, I often get a feeling like "Oh! that reminded me of a song, I'm going to play that after this is done". Often I get reminded of many songs, that I maybe haven't heard in a while etc. However, I usually forget to listen to the songs because I forget to change when the current song is done.
I've been wondering a while why there isn't such a feature in iTunes that lets you make a list of upcoming songs you want to hear, then go back to where you were when you made the upcoming list. This isn't really easy to describe, so I've made a picture illustrating the basic of the idea.

1. "Oh I wanna hear this song next!" Left click the song -> Play next / put in line/add to list/queue etc.
Then when you press the "play next"-button, a number will show where the "now playing"-icon normally is. If it's the first, it will say 1, if it's the second it will say 2 and so on.
2. When you put a song in the "upcoming-list", it will show in the box (not an ideal placement if you've got a lot of playlists though).
3. The "*" is for returning to the normal playlist again. If you've got shuffle mode on, it can be any of the songs in your library, and if shuffle is off, it'll be the song that comes after the song you were playing when making the list (in my case, that would be "04 - Anna Lee", see picture marked as "4")
Other functions could be an option deciding how many times you want to play the songs on the list. If it's an exceptionally great song you haven't heard in a while, maybe you want to play it 3 times in a row. This could be done by left-clicking the song in the list -> play several times -> enter number.
Options when left-clicking an item in the list:
"Delete from list"
"Play several times"
"Move down"
"Move up"
+ more
Does anyone else think this sounds like a good idea, or is it just plain out a stupid suggestion?

hi,
what you are describing is almost like the party shuffle option. while a song is playing, you can see the forecast of the next songs and change it before they actually play.
i'm often doing what you are trying to acheive using this feature... you should give a try.
