"Play" on remote vs. "Enter" - Simple Encore Menu Question

Hi All,
I haven't been able to find a good answer to this question as of yet, so I am hoping someone has a clear answer!  I am creating one of the simplest menus possible for my project.  It is composed of a screen capture from my timeline as the background image and a text button which is the name of the short film and acts as the "Play" button.  My project is only one timeline, so nothing complicated.  I am able to make the video play from the menu when I use the remote and physically push the "enter" button, but I would like it to play whether I push the "enter" button OR the physical "play" button on the remote.  I can't understand why pushing play on the remote wouldn't count as using the button?
Thank you for your time, and if there is any solution or work around, this would be great!  Some of the people who watch my videos don't understand the difference between "enter" and "play" and then the whole thing feels much less professional.
Thank you!

I'm having this same issue.
I have a single menu with one item that is going to play one timeline of video.
I'd like to have it set up where the user presses play or enter and the video plays.
I'm not able to do that. I haven't enabled any overrides. Would appreciate any help.
Thanks so much.
Victor

  • Can't Play Podcasts - unable to enter the podcast menu

    When I try to enter the Podcasts menu from the iPod main menu by clicking the center button nothing happens. To the right it shows that there are 27 podcasts so I don't know why it doesn't respond. The center button still works in general since I can enter other menu items with it.
    Has anyone had this problem? How can I fix this?

    Thanks!!!  I actually used the "reset network settings" process but my guess is that I will now have to re-enter passwords for the networks I use...seems they should have made an easy way to simply change a password for a specific network since a lot of folks change them regularly for security reasons....thanks for the responses!!!

  • Simple spry menu question

    Hi
    I just need to know how to change the height of my spry menu.
    i did it once before but forgot how to. i think i've tried height
    on every SpryMenuBarHorizontal.css that is there there...
    Thanks

    Great thank you very much, added the code and its working
    now...
    Just one more question, hope this makes sense: I want to put
    the menu along a line that is the same color as the menu so i put
    to menu into a table and used a color background, is this the best
    way to do it? The problem i am having is that the table has this
    padding that i can't get rid of, i want it the same size as the
    menu, but i can make the table any smaller...
    Appreciate the help

  • To givingupusa - a simple Encore Tutorial

    To givingupusa - a simple Encore Tutorial
    I have CS5, so you need to go slowly to be sure you find the correct commands for your
    version of Premiere Pro and Encore
    This is for DVD only, since I don't do BluRay
    Verify these steps with the book or PDF or help file!
    Go past this tutorial exercise for links to online Tutorials
    Even if you have a later version, this is a good book to learn Encore
    http://www.amazon.com/Focal-Easy-Guide-Adobe-Encore/dp/0240520041/ref=sr_1_1?
    This note is written specifically for "givingupusa" who can't get Dynamic Link to
    ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1277266925
    work... but, of course, anyone who is learning may find this to be helpful
    Do your editing in Premiere Pro... do NOT use Dynamic Link (this exercise is to be sure
    that you may create a file that Encore will use, and that Encore will, in fact, open
    properly and actually use that file)
    If you are editing HD, read this
    Tutorial HD to SD w/CS4 http://bellunevideo.com/tutorials/CS4_HD2SD/CS4_HD2SD.html
    This is just a test, so you don't need anything fancy or long in Premiere... a file (or
    two?) totalling 10 minutes to as much as half an hour is all you need (keep this test
    short, so you find out "quickly" if things work, or not)
    When you are done editing, make sure you have selected to export the entire timeline,
    then export to either DV NTSC (or Pal) Widescreen or DV NTSC (or Pal) if you are
    editing 4:3 video
    File-Export-Media... then, on the lower left, select Source Range of Entire Sequence
    Upper right select Format Microsoft AVI then just below that Preset select NTSC DV
    Widescreen (or PAL DV Widescreen) for widescreen material (if you have been editing
    HiDef source) or NTSC DV (or PAL DV) if you have been editing SD material that is in
    the 4:3 pixel ratio
    Output Name will show a default of Sequence 01.avi which you double click to change to
    a file name (and location) of your choice
    Export Video and Export Audio are both checked by default... do not change that
    Make NOTE of what it says after Output and Source... for this test, going from HD Flip
    to DV AVI, mine says
    Output 720x480, 29.97 [fps], Lower, Quality 100 - 48000 Hz, Stereo, 16 bit
    Bottom right click Export... a window will pop up with a title of "Encoding Sequence
    01" with a progress bar in the window... exit from Premiere when done
    The result will be a FileName.AVI file (of course, FileName is YOUR actual file name
    that you selected) which has video and sound all in one file
    Find the Encore program icon that was created when you installed Premiere Pro and
    Encore... double click the icon to start Encore... or, if you can't find a program
    icon, click START - All Programs and then find Encore in the appropriate Adobe program
    group
    When Encore starts, select New Project and give it a name and location, and be sure the
    DVD option is checked
    Make NOTE of the Transcode Settings on this New Project Screen (NOTE that if you exit
    from this project and come back to it later, you would select the project name you just
    created, instead of New Project)
    If your AVI file is large enough that you are going to do a dual layer DVD, Right Click
    the Encore icon and select Run as Administrator (or you WILL have an Encore error!)
    Make sure you are in the PROJECT panel (look on the upper left) and then File — Import
    As - Timeline, and select your AVI File
    In the lower right Library panel, use the Set: General, and Drag an appropriate Blank
    Menu or Blank Menu WIDE to the Project Panel
    In the Project panel Right Click the Menu and set as First Play
    In the Flowchart panel in the center of the screen, Drag the AVI and drop it on the
    Menu
    While in the Properties panel on the upper right, click the AVI file once to set the
    focus, then set AVI End Action to Return to Last Menu
    Back in the center, with the menu selected, you will a wide button with text (mine
    always defaults to Party Highlight 1 for some reason) which is the link from the menu
    to play the video
    Right Click and Rename (if you wish, figure out on your own how to move this command
    button to a different location)
    On the top left, select the Build panel
    Click the Check Project and then Start in the popup window, and NOTE and fix any errors
    3 main Output options are DVD Disc (to go direct to a DVD) or DVD Folder to create the
    DVD file structure on your hard disk or DVD Image to create an ISO for later burning to
    a DVD
    I normally build an ISO and use the FREE Imgburn http://www.imgburn.com/index.php? to have more control over the burning settings (burn at the slowest speed
    act=download
    possible for a better burn) use Verbatim or Tayio Yuden discs (Change the ISO’s Name
    via the Browse function)
    For this test, I will use DVD Folder and create the DVD folder on my hard drive so I
    may then play the DVD from that folder without burning a disc... only do this if you
    have a DVD player installed... otherwise, burn to DVD to test at a TV
    Even Empty the DVD-ROM says it uses 526k – for the "usual" overhead
    Last step is to actually build the ISO File or Folder... I used H: for the folder (you
    will, of course, use a drive letter appropriate to your computer setup)
    After Encore finished, I used WinExplorer to find the VIDEO_TS folder, which (for my
    short test) contained
    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.BUP
    VTS_01_0.IFO
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_01_1.VOB
    When I double clicked on VIDEO_TS.VOB my DVD player was activated, and the menu came up
    on screen, where I could click the name I gave my movie... and the movie began to play
    If you do not have this result... report back with all the NOTES you made and with any
    error messages
    If you are able to create a DVD this way... give up on Dynamic Link and use this
    process
    Now, some general information about Premiere Pro and Encore

  • A simple list menu(!)

    I’m trying to create a simple list menu that will load my .swf file is a scrolling panel. I have played about with Flash 8 a long time ago so im very rusty and getting myself in knots ….
    Here is my attempt can anyone help
    Thanks
    import fl.controls.List;
    import fl.data.DataProvider;
    import flash.net.navigateToURL;
    var defaultMainDisplay:URLRequest = new URLRequest("home.swf");

    {label:"File 1", data:swf\File1.swf},
    {label:"File 2", data:swf\File2.swf},
    {label:"File 3", data:swf\File3.swf},
    MyList.dataProvider = new DataProvider(File_list);
    MyList.allowMultipleSelection = true;
    MyList.addEventListener(Event.CHANGE, showData):void{

  • Using AudioFileOpenUrl to play a remotely hosted audio file

    I was playing around with the iPhone SDK and I wanted to write a trivial app (UIView with UIButton, press button, play file) that played a remotely hosted mp3 file. It seems like this should be simple:
    NSString *filepath = @"http://www.server.com/legal.mp3";
    CFURLRef audioFileURL = CFURLCreateWithString(NULL, (CFStringRef) filepath, NULL);
    AudioFileID audioFile;
    if (noErr != AudioFileOpenURL(audioFileURL, fsRdPerm, 0, nil)) {
    NSLog(@"Error - : could not open audio file. Path given was: %@", audioFileURL);
    Why doesn't this work? What am I doing wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

    QuickTimeKirk wrote:
    Very difficult request because the Apple TV can only play one file at a time. It doesn't have a "loop" feature.
    You could use QuickTime Player Pro to "join" the audio files into one file. The hard part would be adding the five minute video chunks via copy/paste as each would be added as a new "video" track. QuickTime .mov files can have up to 99 "tracks" and the .mov container is supported by Apple TV.
    So this new file would have a new video track (actually just a copy of the original) that played up to 98 times. A five minute source video would end up being a bit over 8 hours in duration.
    The 98 track video could be "flattened" into one video track via export. The same for the audio track movie.
    Other options:
    Set the Quicktime Loop flag in the movie inspector properties.
    Make a video playlist, adding the file to the playlist lots of times - make sure playlists are enabled in Settings for video not just music.

  • Make my After Effects composition into an Encore menu... How?

    I'm new to After Effects, but have had a fair bit of experience with Encore. I've managed to create a rather cool looking menu in AE for a DVD i'm going to create in Encore, but it is obviously an AE composition, which consists of a Photoshop layer and a video layer. I know how to add buttons etc. for Encore in Photoshop/AE, but what I can't figure out is how to take the composition I've created in After Effects into Encore and have it as a menu?
    What I have created is fairly simple. It's just one Photoshop layer (excluding the buttons ofcourse) and a single video layer, manipulated in 3D space so it appears as though it's showing on a TV screen in my Photoshop image. I've seen tutorials for creating a simple video button in Encore, but what I'm doing is somewhat more complicated as the video layer is blended in with the Photoshop layer in After Effects, so I can't link to it separately.
    Can anyone help? Thanks in advance...

    Moving backgrounds to menus need to be imported into Encore as video files unless you are able to use Dynamic Link to streamline the process (I don't have DL so can't help with practical advice).
    If you are animating the button images, you will not be able to use them as buttons until you transition into the Encore menu itself.
    There's a video tutorial on animating menus in After Effects either on a DVD in the box or on line at http://www.adobe.com/designcenter/video_workshop/

  • Encore Menu Audio Glitch in Blu-Ray

      I've been trying to burn a BRD in Encore for several months now and have not been successful as yet. I can burn a disk in Blu-Ray with operating menu and everything is fine -- except - I cannot get the menu audio to play for more than 10 seconds.  I've tried using a custom menu made from Photoshop, menu from the Encore Library.  I've tried converting the audio from mp3 or wav to AAC format.  I've tried using Adobe Media Encoder to encode the audio.
    I do not have these issues when burning a regular DVD.  Regular DVDs build just fine.
    I have checked everything in the Encore menu properties box and everything appears to be fine. I've reviewed the training disk and I appear to be doing everything correctly.  I've tried everything mentioned in this forum -- I think.     I've tried importing the audio asset as a .wav, PCM, AC3, and mt2a.  I  My system specs are listed below.  Can anyone provide any additional information on how I can fix this?
    I tried using it on my Win7 system as well, but the Blu_ray build just totally freezes the Encore program.

    Nice code.
    I manually added j, k, and o (~Return) into the key checking part. I could use j,k or up,down to choose, but I wonder if that possible you can re-code to make it can accept multiple keys set in $au,$ad, and $nl.
    Thanks. In the case statement you can add multiple keys, like:
    "$au"|k)
    <snip>
    "$ad"|j)

    I didn't want this which is why it's not in the script. At the bottom of the script, change tput cud $(( tn - 1 )) to tput dl $tn ; tput cuu1 and it should delete the lines.
    Bug: does not work with fish shell, set distro (./smenu ArchLinux Debian Ubuntu Gentoo); I wonder how it fares with other shells and terminals.

  • How do I sample color from a photoshop image and apply it to an Encore menu color sets

    I'm about 3 months and many hours of tutorials into Premiere ProCC, Audition CC, and Encore CS6. Apparently the nifty dynamic links from PPro and Audition CS6 no longer work with encore, as encore was not upgraded to CC. So, I want to sample color from an original photoshop image, and create an Encore menu color set, so that my menu bttons, etc. are colored to match the main photo image in the menu. Is there an eyedropper kind of tool in Encore that would let me sample the color from the image, and then apply that to color swatches in the Encore button layers? If there is I can't find it! ~Thanks!

    Strangely enough, I started a thread on this issue a few days ago in the Creative Cloud forum.  I had to uninstall all my pre-CC adobe software to get the Application Manager in sync with the CC apps, so when I tried to use Encore, there it was gone.  So I reinstalled PremPro CS6 just to get Encore back, but when I right clicked a menu in Encore, as asked to Edit in Photoshop, it threw up an error.  The consensus was that Encore CS6 would know nothing about Photoshop CC, so after much time searching for a fix, my only option was to either reinstall Photoshop CS6, or do it manually.
    I took the latter option using Windows 7 to search for the menu, and open/with Photoshop CC.  Stan Jones, who is the Encore equivalent of our Noel, mentioned a brick-bat, but I just saved the edit file and dragged it into Encore, and it worked fine

    My macbook pro is already authorized, but a purchased song from iTunes keeps stating that my computer is not authorized to play it. I enter my apple ID and password, upon which a window confirms that my computer is already authorized. Yet the song still won't play and continues to state that my computer is not authorized.

    If you live in a country in which you are allowed to re-download purchased music delete the track from the library and the HDD and re-download it.

  • Can I export Encore menu to photoshop to edit?

    I understand that I can create DVD menu in photoshop & import to Encore.
    But, is it possible to export the Encore menu (which is shipped with Encore) to Photoshop to edit (& then import to Encore again)?

    Also, you can Rt-click on the Menu in the Menu Editing Panel, and choose Edit in Photoshop.
    If you do not have that, then go to your Control Panel>Folder Options, and check that the File Type, .PSD, is allocated to Photoshop. If not, reset this. Many programs will "steal" file affinities.
    Good luck,

  • Cannot use keyboard or remote to enter Netflix info

    I have a problem with my TV (model 55L7200U).  When I get to the Netflix sign in page, I can't use the keyboard or the remote to enter my information.  There is no on-screen keyboard that pops up.  I have pressed all of the buttons on the remote and only certain characters get typed.

    I had the same problem.  Press the enter key (OK?) on the blank input field.  A keyboard will come up.

  • How to call an event from simple tree menu

    I have a simple tree menu that when I click on a menu item,
    id like a picture or other data to appear on the right side of the
    page.
    Thank you in advance,
    Jim

    The reason why it becomes zero when you press stop is that you selected the control to get the default value in the event structure if it's not connected. You can fix it by connecting it like I did in the first picture.
    To make it stop when you press the stop button you have to connect one stop button to the loop exit terminal. The reason for the sequence structure that I added is to make sure that the loop exits the first time you press the stop button, try removing it and you'll see what I mean.
    You have one additional problem. You rely on the x+1 output of the sub vi as an input for the next iteration. However, that is not reliable since if you can the subvi from somewhere else it might mess up the count. You're better of using a shift register and passing in the last value to the subvi in each iteration.
