Play Order on iPhone from iTunes

Hi,
I'm having trouble with song play order on iPhone.
Songs will not play in album order.
I don't have shuffle engaged and can see no obvious reason why this would occur.
Any tips on how the iPhone detirmined play order?
Is in dependent on the sort order (ie Album, Artist etc) in iTunes when sync'ed?
Any help much appreciated,
Ned

I have the same problem, but with apple tv.
For instance I have a smart list (Recently played). As you can imagine this playlist is always being updated. But every time a synchronize is being done with apple tv, first I need to right-click in the playlist and select copy to play order. I have other playlists. So this is not a practical ideia, to do over and over.
If a synchronize is to be done all playlists should be updated in apple TV, without my intervention.
I can not find a way of permanently set the option copy to play order active.
Can anyone help ?
Thanks

Hi. I pre ordered an album from iTunes using my iPhone 4S. Once released I received an email with a download link. I followed the link from the email which took me to iTunes Store. There I found the album & all tracks shown as purchased but with no apparent way of downloading. When I check for items to download, it isn't there. When I check purchased items purchased, it isn't there either. It only appears when I tap the album cover from the front page & then only as purchased.

    Hello 28mexiworth
Check your Music app to see if it already downloaded. You can also check iTunes on your computer to Check for a available downloads. If you are still not able to get it, then report the issue to iTunes.

  • I can no longer manually add music to my iPhone from iTunes; what happened?

Recently I have been unable to add new music to my iPhone from iTunes. I used to be able to just select the songs I wanted, then drag and drop them onto to the phone by hovering over the iPhone icon. Now I get a crossed-out circle icon when I try to do this. Why is this happening, and how can I work around it? I'm pretty frustrated, as you can imagine!

Thanks for the judgmental response, Dave. My favorite part was where you told me how to manage the space on my computer. My second favorite part was when you accused me to stealing music.
I have only synced my iPhone with one computer and its iTunes library. I download music legally to that computer, from mixtape sites, Bandcamp, Amazon and---GASP---other none iTunes sites, load it onto my iPhone, then delete some of it, because I don't listen to music on my computer. I listen to it on a device I purchased to play it. That device is called an iPhone. It's supposed to play mp3s.
    Have I blown your mind?
But if I am hearing you right, you are telling me the iPhone is literally the only mp3 player in existence that doesn't and shouldn't have the basic functionality to have new mp3s loaded to it from a single authorized computer. That I should be happy now that I cannot load new music onto it, and I should just live with the music that I have already loaded, since I can't load anymore.
And that I should be happy that this basic functionality that, until the most recent software update, I have always had has magically disappeared.
How foolish it was of me to be upset about this! Thank you for showing me the light, Dave.

  • So I keep trying to sync music to my iPhone from iTunes, and whenever I select the album the sync goes by really fast and nothing goes onto my phone. Then when I click "On this iPhone" it shows the songs, but they're grey, and I can't click on them. Help?

Ok, sorry. And yes, I just restored my iPhone as new and tried to put all the songs on there before I even restored with my previous backup, but it still does the same thing... even when I just checked the option to sync only "selected music or videos". How's that possible?
P.S. After I tried syncing with checked songs only, nothing showed up under Music on my phone and this message popped up in iTunes: "The iPhone "..." could not be synced because the sync session failed to finish." If you could, please tell me what that means, thanks.

Also, just updated the phone's software today, and iTunes' software is already up to date.

    Hi Gregg,
Have you tried resetting the device (nothing will be lost): Hold down the Home and Power buttons at the same time and continue to hold them down until the Apple appears (up to 30 seconds). Once the Home screen redisplays, see if your Music app is behaving normally.
    Cheers,

  • I update my IPhone4 to IOS6 from IOS4.3.3. My all songs are missing in the Iphone4. How to get those songs into my Iphone from ITunes. Even after sync also not coming to IPhone.

I update my IPhone4 to IOS6 from IOS4.3.3. My all songs are missing in the Iphone4. How to get those songs into my Iphone from ITunes. Even after sync also not coming to IPhone.

The iphone is not  storage/backup device.
The sync is one way - computer to iphone.
The only exception is itunes purchases.  File>Devices>Transfer Purchases
You should copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer, to your new one.

  • Unable to re-load podcasts on iPhone from iTunes.

    I manage my podcasts manually.
I download podcasts to iTunes on my iMac.  I then manually add the podcasts to my iPhone 4s, in the podcast App. However, sometimes I need to clear up some space on the iPhone, so I delete podcasts that I haven't listened to.  In such a case, I leave the podcast in iTunes, so I might place it on the iPhone and listen to it later.  However, when I try to re-add the podcast to the iPhone from iTunes, I can't.
It seems that the iTunes/iPhone podcast app interface has an ADD IT ONLY ONCE function, whereas with songs, I can add and delete a song as many times as I like.
Does anyone know how to get around this ADD IT ONLY ONCE limitation of the Podcast
Thanks very much for your help!

I also wanted to add that syncing never ends.  Not sure why that is happening either.

    SOLVED!
As suspected, my problem of not being able to play or import CD from iTunes 8.1 was internal to iTunes (with a little help from me). iTunes does not recognize the drive letters of A: or B: I wanted the drive letter configuration of my computer to be C:SYSTEM and D:DATA, so I changed the optical drive to A: just like the old floppy drives used to be. (Going old school.) Since iTunes will not accept that, I changed the drive letter of the optical drive to O: (for optical) and everything works.
To do this, go CONTROL PANEL>SYSTEM AND MAINTENANCE>ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS>COMPUTER MANAGEMENT>STORAGE>DISK MANAGEMENT. All your drives should be laid out in front of you. (If your optical drive isn't listed, you might have to insert a disk and from the menu bar select ACTION>REFRESH.) Left click on your optical drive to select it and then right click on Change Drive Letter and Paths... Select Change, enter any unused drive letter greater than B: (D: is common by default, O: seemed to work) and OK your way out of it.
Changing my drive letters has probably left me open to problems from other programs that don't taken drive letter flexibility into account, but iTunes works for me.
I am e-mailing this to the Apple tech who tried unsuccessfully to help me, placing suspicion on everything except the coding of iTunes. Hopefully, Apple will put this in their knowledge base, because it seems to be a common problem and few know the solution.

    Hi there,
You may want to varify that your system meets the minimum system requirements for viewing HD content. Take a look at the article below for more information.
