  • How to play ps3 on mac book ?

Hello, is there any way to play PS3 on my mac book pro (retina display)? I saw some video about how it works on the old mac book pro but I am not too sure if it works on the retina display version MBP. Please give me some advice about it. I do not want to buy a TV for ps3 only.

Not possible because the system has no audio/video input. Only the Alienware M17x and M18x have such capability.

  • Connect PS3 to MBP retina and then onto IMAC 21,5"??? POSSIBLE??

    greetings to all of you!
i wold like to share with you guys ths doubt the i have, and i'm pretty sure i'm not the first one thinking about this... hopefuly somebody can help me..
i know that it is possibe to connect the PS3 onto a macbook pro retina display with not that much of an issue. jut need to have the right cables and adapters, i'm cleared about that. AND i also know that with just a simple thunderbolt cabl you can use yor imac 21,5 (specificallly mid2011) as a monitor display for the mbp..
THAT'S WHY i came out with the ide to get all these three things together and connected, in order to play PS3 and watch it in my 21,5 imac!
I KNOW there are devices like eyetv HD, that allows you tu play ps3 on ypur imac 21,5 directly.. bt i'm currentlu living in croatia and buying something from amazon it's just way to slow to get it in here..
PLEASE if anybody has ever try it..or knows about someone that did, and it actually worked, please please let me know.. i'm not an electronic gnius but when you think abot the idea it doesn't sound too crazy or stupid.. that's what i think.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH HOP YOU CAN HELP LET ME KNOW

To answer the question, there is no built-in way to do what you are trying to do.
"Target Display Mode allows you to use a supported iMac as an external display for another Mac computer using Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt cables."

For a PS3 you will need to use a third party device/software.

  • Can I play PS3 games on my MacBook Pro?

Can I play PS3 games on my MacBook Pro? I want to run PS3 games on a MBP. I have Medal of Honor and  that's the only game I like on the PS3. And does anyone know any good shooting games like shadowgun deadzone. Something offline and that's pretty fun. Someone help me pls.

The XBox uses three PowerPC processors that run very very hot and need constant power and Mac's use Intel processors that run very cool in comparison.
It would take a complete rewrite of the entire games code to make it work on a Mac.
So in short, it can't be done. Sorry.
But I'll clue you 2 free 3D games you can run on your MacBook Pro
Cube 2 Suaerbraten and Nexiuz Classic.  That should help get you by.

  • How to play PS3 on new iMac?(imac as a display)

    Hey All,
I bought the new iMac on late 2012, it's a 27" one, it only has thunderbolt ports, no mini display ports like the older ones
Altough I'm too busy I'd love to play PS3 once and while, just too lazy to hook up with a huge TV, so I'm wondering
how do I play PS3 with my iMac?  I'd like to know what kind of other equipments/cables I need to buy with this new iMac
    Much appreciated!
    Roger

You can't do that. Macs with Thunderbolt ports can only be used as an external display for other Macs with Thunderbolt. See > http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11302
Unfortunately, the Target Display mode of the iMac only works with Thunderbolt (in the case of Macs with Thunderbolt) or Mini DisplayPort to Mini DisplayPort cables, so it's not compatible with any adapters. As a PlayStation 3 hasn't got a Thunderbolt or Mini DisplayPort connector, you can't connect it to the iMac

  • How to display PS3 on MBP Retina Display

    Hello Guys,
i wanna use my MBP with Retina display as Screen for my Sony PS3.
Can i connect the PS3 with HDMI on the MBP and it works instandly fine?
    Greetings

Sorry you can't do that, the HDMI on the Mac is output only.
You could spend money and buy a external device that converts the component video of the PS3 and stream it into the Mac via the Thunderbolt or USB ports combined with their software that will display it on the Mac's screen, but your dropping the quality as component can't handle the higher HD formats, can't watch HDCP protected content and there will be a delay playing games as the conversion process is going on.
Also even if you could stream 1080i HDCP based content into the Retina, 1080 content is 1920 x 1080 pixels max, the Retina has a even higher pixel display quality so the 1080 HD content will look like garbage on the Retina's higher pixel screen as the content pixels and the display pixels won't match and produce jaggies at full screen. So one would have to use a smaller window to match the 1920 x 1800 pixels of the 1080i content.
The best use of the PS3 is with HDTV, that way when it burns out it's only $200-$500 or so to replace, unlike placing all the wear and tear on the Mac which is $1500-$4000 to replace.

  • Will a multi-region (Region 0) PAL DVD play on my MBP?

I have a 2009 unibody MBP (15", 2.66GHz model). Purchased in the USA, located in the USA.
The MBP has a Matsushita DVD-R drive, model UJ-868, rev KB19. System Profiler does not show any region code for the drive, and I do not recall ever having to enter a preferred region code. It plays NTSC DVDs just fine.
Will it play a PAL DVD, coded as multi-region (Region 0)?
Any tips on how I could verify this (that is, without purchasing a PAL DVD just to find out)?

There is no real 'Region 0' - Region 0 is not an official setting; discs that bear the region 0 symbol either have no flag set or have region 1–6 flags set.
So, yes, it should play (either NTCS or PAL).

  • Play video from MBP or iPad?

I have an Apple TV in the living room, and just downloaded some TV shows onto my MacBook Pro.  The Apple TV can play them from there over Wi-Fi ... or I could load the TV shows onto my iPad use that as my source.  Is one source better than the other?  Would I notice any difference if Apple TV gets the shows over Wi-Fi from my MBP or from my iPad?

there shouldn't be any difference... except that the ipad is not able to be controlled by the remote app and the Mac is...

  • Playing music with MBP

I got a new MBP 3 weeks ago, and amd loving it. I got some hefty speakers, Bose Companion Series III. Just opened them from the box and they are AMAZING. However, I was wondering if it was possible to enable an option to keep music playing when the laptop is shut. I am going to get an Apple Display, but that is probably a year down the line, so I was wondering if there was an alternative solution for the mean time.
PS - I am hooking them up to AirTunes later this week

Interesting... One other thought (short of getting an external display). If you have a Mini DisplayPort adapter (for DVI, VGA, whatever), try plugging that in. Your Mac may think that an external display is attached and keep the computer awake. Or it might not...
Although the external Mac displays are gorgeous, they are also expensive. I just bought a 24" Dell monitor for $200. It's not a Mac display (it falls short in beauty, screen quality, and features) but it does the job a 1/4 the cost. Something to consider...

  • Airport express for playing PS3

I am thinking to buy this item. I need help because I want to know if this product does what it seems.
Im looking for a device who I connect in any telephone connection in my house to make my house wireless. That way I can play my ps3 online.

Sorry but the AirPort Express (AX) is not for you. The AX does not plug into a telephone line.

  • Songs stop playing halfway on MBP and iPhone 6 ?

I noticed the other day after upgrading to the iPhone 6 some of my songs would play for 45sec-1min and then would stop, and jump to the next song. I read that this could be an issue after transferring to a new phone, so I wiped all music off my phone and reloaded it. Unfortunately the issue still persisted.
I then went to test in iTunes on my MBP and found I was having the same issue with the same songs. It's not happening on all songs, in fact it appears to be random. Some I've bought from iTunes store, some I've ripped from CDs, and they're both affected the same. Then even more confusing I went back to my iPhone 5s and tested, all the songs play correctly.
I'm running the most current version of OS X and iOS. This issue is most frustrating, and I'm hoping someone could shed some light on a possible solution, thanks in advance!

    Anyone?

  • How To Get Sound To Play Out From MBP Onto HDTV?

I hooked up my MBP to my HDTV last night using the DVI - HDMI cable and had no issues with picture.
This is the model of HDTV I have: http://www.hitachidigitalmedia.com/product_techspec.do?pt=17&pg=69&proid=593
I then connected plugged in a phono L+R to 3.5mm Jack Audio Cable from the headphone port on my Mac to the PC Audio Input on the TV. Nada sound.
Then tried connecting to the Audio Input points on the TV. Still nothing.
The only Audio sockets my HDTV has are:
    Audio Input •
    PC Audio Input •
    Audio Line Out •
    Headphone Socket •
    Component Audio
so don't think I can use TOSLINK either.
Can anyone help? Spent last night with picture off the HDTV but sound off a set of external Creative speakers hooked up to the MBP.
    Thank You,
    Arivind Abraham

I think that the audio cable from the MBP to the audio inputs on the TV would have worked if you had gone to System Preferences -> Sound -> Output and assigned the output there. YMMV
