Play Queue Broken

Since the last Spotify update, the play queue has become far worse, which has revealed to me even more problems with it. 1) Why can't you delete songs from the play queue? If I play an artist, what's the chances I'd want to listen to 100% of their songs, remixes, and live stuff? 2) Why can't you clear a play queue? Seriously, even playing a different album doesn't clear the queue - it'll play one song and then revert back to the original queue. So it's a 100% useless program now. 3) Why does the shuffle play the same 10 songs over and over and over (sometimes playing the same song several times in a row) when an artist has hundreds to choose from? Trying to resolve my play queue issues I realised I'd never even heard half the songs from a band I'd been listening to non-stop for 3 days. I'm going to be cancelling my membership. Spotify is totally useless in its current form.

Hello there and welcome to the community,
On new version :
1 - When you start, let's say a playlist, the Play queue is separated in 2 sections : Current Track - Next Tracks (ready to play in the order shown)
2 - If you want listen in priority another song from the next songs than the one ready : click right on the title and select : Add to queue
3 - Now the play queue will show 3 sections : Current Track - Queued Tracks - Next Tracks (all the tracks in the section Queued tracks will have priority to play)
4 - At anytime you can add a song in the section Queued Tracks from anywhere else (another, playlist, an album..) just with a right click on title and Add to queue.
5 - At anytime you can remove a song or a block of song from the section Queued Tracks (right click and Remove from queue)
Note : You can't remove a song from the section Next Songs (your original choice).
If you start to play another playlist. The queued songs will keep in queue. But the songs in section Next Songs will be replaced by the new playlist as long as you don't Add to queue other songs.

  • [Guide] How To Clear the Play Queue

QuestionHow do I clear the play queue?
AnswerPlease note this is an unofficial workaround and not an official solution.
    1 - Click New Playlist.
2 - Add only one song to the Playlist.
3 - Whenever you want to clear the Play Queue double click it.
Once Play Queue is flushed, only the short song you used will be in the Queue. The reason is that the last song played in the Queue always stays until something new is loaded into it other than manually added material.

The MarkupBean uses its own broadcaster (MarkupBroadcaster).
The setBroadcast(boolean b) is available only in the VueEventBroadcaster.
We may work on better solution to fix the issue.
Probably the issue is not related to the number of notifications!. Try this workaround to confirm...!
Workaround (I do not recommend to do this):
    - Save the current markup broadcaster : oldBroadcaster = getMarkupBean().getMarkupBroadcaster()'
    - Set an empty broadcaster (getMarkupBean().setMarkupBroadcaster(new MarkupBroadcaster())). All the listeners are copied into the new broadcaster
    - getMarkupBean().getMarkupBroadcaster().removeAllMarkupEventListeners(); // Remove the copied listeners
    - Put back the old broadcaster (markup listeners).

  • More than 50 songs/tracks in play queue

Hi guys and gals.  Is there anyway to increase the play queue so that it shows more than 50 tracks in it? I have several large playlists which house 200+ songs in them. I often want to (and used to be able to)  add them all to my play queue and then sort them out into the order I wish them to play in as this isn't possible anywhere else. (is it?) I am aware that YES it does queue up more than 50 tracks when I add them but it's pointless if I can't move the track that's 143rd in the queue next to the song that's 32nd in the queue as I quite simply can't see it. I could use random/shuffle but that's not what I want either. I want to be able to play 200 tracks in the EXACT order that I want. However with this stupid 'see only 50' rule they have implimented I just can't do it!  A little context to this, I work in an office and I'm the office music source. I'd hardly quailify as a DJ but I like to queue up the day's music in advance and then get on with my work and quite often I'm out the office. With this 50 rule I quite simply can't do this anymore it's very frustrating. Failing that is there anyway to 'downgrade' and go back to a previous version of spotify? You know, one that is actually good? ;)  Many thanks!

Yes you can down grade, although you will need to search a third party file share site for a older app, this is not suggested to be done. You run these apps at your own risk as they are no longer supported, as there is always a risk someone might have altered it maliciously. You can search on the boards here also about downgrading the Spotify app to an older app, and also stopping the auto update feature. I am running the older 0.9.5 as my main spotify app which still has features not removed by the newer one, and I am also running the newer 1.0.8.59 app in sand boxie so things do not get crossed up, I run both apps at the same time. The search can be your friend here, good luck.

  • Play Queue Starting Over After The First 5 Songs

I've been having this issue since using Spotify connect  where I'll take a playlist with about 100 songs on it, shuffle it, then after it plays about the first 5 it starts over again at the first one it shuffled. This only ever happens on my andriod device. I noticed that the app does a lot of weird stuff when it's constantly being disconnected and reconnected to wifi whenever the device is in transit from point A to B. I don't get how this is an issue because I'm a Premium member so I have all my usual playlists downloaded for offline use.  This is another issue I brought up a few weeks ago regarding more of the app's bizzare behavior when it losses wifi:https://community.spotify.com/t5/Help-Android/Spotify-Lock-Screen-Controls-Disappearing/m-p/1162609This problem hasn't been asnwered yet either.

Okay, here's what I mean about the play queue starting over. Today I pused music using the in-line controls on my earphones, then 2 hours later I plugged them back in and resumed my music with the in-line controls (I never unlocked the screen during this process) and started flipping through tracks using the in-line controls while walking to the bus stop, and after I had flipped through about 7 tracks, the play queue repeated the first track it had resumed playback from. This screen shots shows a duplicate track in the play queue afer it had started over from the last resumed track. Note that I do not have duplicate tracks on this playlist.

  • Make entire play queue editable

There's currently two queues in Spotify: The locked queue. (White items.)The editable queue. (Yellow items.)If you press the  queue button with tracks in both lists, you can see that these two queues are comined into one. The editable queue always plays first. The problem is having a locked queue at all. You can't empty it without interrupting playback, and you'll have to use a workaround to do so. You can't reorder it or add or delete songs. After finishing the editable queue, Spotify always continues playback from the locked queue. The workaround is starting playback at the very last item on a page. The locked queue will then have no further items. Then you can continue by purely using the queue right-click function instead of double-click or enter. This adds items to the editable queue. These tracks can then be reordered and deleted as you wish. This UI behaviour is, however, not very user-friendly and quite frankly really annoying. It's also very unconventional having two queues in a music player. I've never seen any other software using either a dual-queue system or a locked queue system. Here's a good implementation suggestion from user Styrke: ----Google Play Music's queue system is really easy to understand and use. Just do what they do. I can describe it by three (3) easy bullets: Double clicking a song starts playing it and adds the rest of the list that the song came from to the queue. (The queue gets overwritten)Right click one or more songs to add them to the top ("play next") or the bottom ("add to queue") of the queue.Everything in the queue can be removed or rearranged by drag-and-drop----

"It's assumed you want to listen to an entire artist." That's a wrong assumption in most cases. Besides, as pointed out, a search result does not contain only one artist; it usually contains a whole jumble of various artists. Nobody wants to listen to that whole list in sequence. The expected behavior when one double-clicks a track somewhere is that the track is added to the play queue he exact same way tracks are added when you right-click and select "Queue", and that it immediately starts playing. Possibly along with the rest of the tracks in the list you found it on, provided it's an album or a playlist. Never if it's an entire search result or an entire discography (which isn't chronological anyway). The way it appears to be currently done, instead of individually adding tracks to the play queue, some sort of pointer is established in an album, discography, playlist or search result, saying: "Play everything below this point". And then the pointer plays its way relentlessly downward, displaying in the play queue all the tracks it intends to play, without them actually being added to the queue. And with little possibility to remove any of them or change their order in the queue. In my opinion, this entire approach is fundamentally flawed and should be abandoned altogether as soon as possible.

  • Play queue cannot be changed or cleared

Earlier this week I played some music. I chose some music from friends in my feed and added it to the play queue. Now, when I start playing a new album or playlist, only one song of that album or playlist plays. After that, the desktop player starts playing the play queue of two days ago. Selecting songs in the play queue and clicking delete does not have any effect. Regardless of what new album I select to play, the old songs stay in the play queue. When using the web player, all works fine and as expected.

    Hello:
Which version of windows are you currently running that this is happening on with the Spotify desktop app?
Also you might try and do a clean uninstall and reinstall this usually fixes most issues. After uninstalling Spotify and removing all associated folders left behind, you can go and download the offline full installer and do a clean reinstall from this url: http://download.spotify.com/SpotifyFullSetup.exe

  • [Playlists] Working play queue would be a nice feature

Hi, Here is an idea: Can You make the play queue actually be a play queue ? After last update (26.7.2015) its not possible to add tunes to queue anymore.Wasnt working well before the update...but it still was possible to add songs. Sorting didnt work, but could atleat add and play. Seems that every update there is Spotify has been functioning worse, and now cannot even play the songs You want.Nice going. So, second idea is: Test your updates before forcing it on users. regardsPete

    Updated: 2015-07-27Hello there!
Since the PlayQueue works normally on my end, this seems more like a bug than an idea.
Could you please open a new topic in the respective help section with more information on the problem such as: Spotify version, what you did, what you were expecting, what really happened. That way we can check it out and forward it to the right team. Thanks! ;)

  • 50 song play queue

Sorry! Hopefully this feature will be implemented soon. Lots of people have been asking for it.

    Hey guys!
Moderator jumping in here. We never recommend downgrading as we only support users getting the app off the official app store or our website.
Also, the 50 track limit in the Play Queue is purely cosmetic. You can add more tracks, but only the next 50 Queued Tracks will show.
We've passed your feedback about being able to see them onto the tech folks.
    Thanks.

  • Problems in the play queue management that have been around forever without having been addressed

    Hey all,
It's been a while since I last contributed here. Think my last post was around 2011 or so - right around the time when the Spotify team announced they are going to be concentrating on polishing the basic functionalities of the player. It's been around 3 or so years and I still find myself cursing the badly neglected play queue management on a more or less daily basis. This makes me a sad panda.
As I wrote 3+ years ago, I don't know about anyone else but at least to me the play queue management is like the 3rd most basic functionality in a music player - right after being able to find music in the first place and then being able to actually play it too.
I just spent mere 15 minutes and came up with this list of issues that are still present in the player:
Play queue is treated differently depending on whether you choose to "play" some tracks or if you "queue" them. In the former case you can delete the tracks from the play queue, in the latter case you can not.
If you "queue" up tracks in spotify, the shuffle setting has no effect (okay, this might be intentional, or it might not be, I don't know).
If you first choose to "play" some tracks and then you "queue" up additional music, the queued tracks are not placed at the end of the current play queue but, rather, immediately after the currently playing song. Sure, this might also be intentional but, to me, it seems counter-intuitive and just plain wrong.
You can change the order of the "queued" tracks - but only within the confines of the "queued" tracks i.e. if you first choose to "play" tracks and then you "queue" up additional tracks, you can not move a "queued" track to be played in the middle of the tracks you chose to "play".
As a continuation to the previous point, you CAN, however, make a track you chose to "play" to be played in the middle of the "queued" tracks but, instead of just changing the track's position in the play queue, it is duplicated, or triplicated, or quadruplicated (is that a word?) instead i.e. you get to hear that track in the middle of the "queued" tracks... and then again as part of the tracks you chose to "play". Additionally, once you do that, the duplicated tracks becomes "queued" i.e. you can no longer delete it from the play queue.
You can not "queue" tracks by right-clicking on a playlist - the only way to do that is to select the playlist so you can see the tracks in it, then click a track, select all, and then "queue" through a right-click.
Remember folks; it took me all of 15 minutes to come up with all of that.

PS. I know these are not exactly ideas but, since I can't post on the bug board, I didn't know where else to post this.
PPS. I can't seem to be able to add tags to this post by writing in the text field that tells me to separate the tags by a comma.

Here's an explanation of my typical behavior when using Spotify, to try and help explain why I consider these points a major problem:
Quite often, when I launch Spotify, it is to find something new to listen to. To achieve that, I use a number of means, one of which is the absolutely fantastic "Discover" functionality (I love it!). Typically, I listen to some recommended artists/tracks/albums, and when I find an album or artist I like, I click "Play" on top of the track list in the album view and start listening.
Then I continue browsing and discovering and, when I come across something else that I find interesting, I can no longer choose to "play" it because it would completely override the current play queue, the currently playing track included, and start playing the new album I just found. So the only option is to "queue" it.
Now, this is where the problems kick in. Instead of being queued up nicely at the end of the play queue like it should do in my view, this new album is like the neighborhood bully, cutting in line straight to the entrance. If I leave things the way they now are, I'm going to hear the currently playing track... and then the entire new album I just "queued" up... and only after that do I get to hear the rest of the tracks I first chose to "play".
If, at this point, I keep on browsing and discovering and finding more interesting music, I can pretty much only keep on "queueing" them up which means that the rest of the first album just keeps getting pushed back further and further. However, the neighborhood bullies seem to respect one another, so all music added beyond the first "queued" tracks take their place at the end of the queue, like they should.
Sure, I could just "queue" up the first album as well but I really dislike the way the whole "queue" functionality has been implemented - simply because I want to be in full control of my play queue which means that I want to be able to move any track to any position in the play queue regardless of how it was added there and I want to be able to delete any track I choose from the play queue at any time.
Also, I would very much like to be able to just add like a 100 tracks in the play queue, one track or one album at a time and then hit "Shuffle" to have them play in a random order. With a vast majority of the tracks being "queued" up this does not happen.
I hope this helps at least some people see things from my perspective.

  • Export queue broken in 1.3

Because of our filing system and workflow, I am used to breaking up a big shoot into multiple folders. I then 'develop' each folder, and for performance reasons, wait until the evening and then queue up all the images for export to JPEG.
It worked fine in LR1.2, but is broken in LR1.3.
Adding multiple export streams to the queue makes the whole export process lockup, with an "unable to export" message for each export stream.
So I have to queue up each folder individually, maybe a max of 2 folders at a time, and wait around before I can add another folder to the queue.
    All done locally, Windows XP.
I would not recommend to anybody thatthey 'upgrade' to LR1.3 unless they have to for camera support.

Thanks for offering some troubleshooting advise. I do have a standard, unaltered account. I rebooted and logged into that account and had the exact same results. So this is system wide.
Just for kicks I tried the similar feature in IE and those modified clicks are still working so this seems to be a Safari specific problem, not a keyboard or mouse problem.

  • [Desktop] Single key for "add to play queue"

Remember the Q button in winamp? You selected a track, pressed that button, and it would be added to the queue of songs to be played next before resuming the ordinary playlist. It would be awesome if Spotify had a similar shortcut.

  • [Android] Remember the play queue between sessions

Hi all. Here's the situation: I begin a shuffle play, so the queue is built and played. Then, if I stop using Spotify for a while (so I guess it gets unloaded from memory), and then I get back later, it remembers the last playing track and position, but if I start playing it again the queue gets REBUILT from scratch!! The result is often playing of songs already played before! :( I find it pretty annoying, and I guess it should act in different way: it should save the current queue to disk to keep it until the user switches playlist, or start a new shuffle by hitting the proper button! Hope you'll consider this. Thanks! :)

  • [Desktop] Option to always display the Play Queue on the right side

In settings on the Desktop, there should be a setting that can allow you to change your friend feed to a queue display.
Or just add a queue display that can be seen and used wherever you are in the browser.

Updated: 2015-07-14Marked as new idea and edited the title slightly to make it easier to find via search. ;)
This idea is a re-post of this inactive idea.

  • Play Button broken?

Hi, I tried playing playlists from Playlists.net and Billboard.com using the Play Button without success. I'm using the last version of the desktop player 1.0.10.107 on a Windows 8.1 machine. Clicking on the Play Button brings the desktop player to front (which it shouldn't I think) and nothing gets played. Anyone else is experiencing this?

Which browser are you using? Also have you done a PC and/or Spotify restart?
