Play TV on a Home theather in a box kit

I am going to purchase a home theatre setup , the one that has speakers and DVD / FM Tuner as a package deal.    Can these type of setups also play the audio directly from the TV as in just normal TV shows ?  sports...etc...etc...etc
Thanks in advance for the help

If you are talking about over the air stuff or built in to tv internet content, yes you can set up the receiver unit of the htib so that it goes through the surround sound. For example, our tv has netflix built in to it for internet content so when I want to watch it, I put it on the tv input, and on the receiver, select the audio connection that has our optical cable in it that runs from it to the tv. If you have an antenna, you can still get it through the speakers.

    we have a movie downloaded on a laptop connected to the internet pluged into our router in the basement and an apple tv upstairs trying to play the movie through home sharing but it wont play. can anyone tell me whats wrong? it comes to the last loading page where it shows the desscription of the movie befor it acually plays.

    It can come about without any change done by the user, and it's not just from other networks. The placement of the router can also affect performance. Also make sure router is up to date.
    Apart from that would be the reboots.

    Hi acidhouse,
    Thank you for your message. I'm so sorry about that. We could still try other settings based on your current configuration. Check the "Control for HDMI" setting on both your soundbar and blu-ray player.
    To go to the Control for HDMI setting on
    BLU-RAY:
    1. Go to SETUP
    2. Select System Settings
    3. Select Control for HDMI
    4. Select ON.
    SOUNDBAR:
    1 Press AMP MENU to turn on the AMP menu.
    2 Press left arrow (return)/  up or down arrow (select)/  right arrow (proceed) repeatedly to select the item
    and press center button to decide the setting.
    3 Select  HDMI
    4 Select C.HDMI, select ON
    5 Select P. THRU, select ON
    4  Press AMP MENU to turn off the AMP menu.
    See if turning these settings on might help you with the type of configuration you want for your components.

  • Help setting up ATV2 to listen itunes through home theather, not TV

    Hi. I bought an Apple TV (2nd gen) and want to listen to itunes through the home theater (Samsung Blu Ray, 5000 series), not through the TV speakers. I have connected my ATV2 via HDMI to the TV, but I can see there is an optical output. The Samsung home theater has already taken the HDMI entry (used by the TV) and has only one, and also the optical audio entry. So, the question is:
    Can I listen itunes through my home theater vs. TV speakers? how please?
    Thanks!
    JCB

    Hi Winston. Ok, I took a look and tried different things:
    I have a Samsung Blu ray 5000 series with only one HDMI port and only
    one optical cable entry. I have tried 2 set ups and here are the
    results:
    1) Set up 1 - connections:
    APTV2 ---(HDMI)--->TV
    HomeTheater ---(Optical cable)--->DVR box --- (HDMI) --->TV
    HomeTheater ---(HDMI)--->TV
    This gives me music from the APTV2 through the TV speakers, not the home
    theater and hte TV through the home theather.
    2) Set up 2 - connections:
    APTV2 ---(OpticalCable)--->HomeTheater
    APTV2---(HDMI)--->TV
    HomeTheater ---(HDMI)--->TV
    DVR box --- (HDMI) --->TV
    This gives me music from the APTV2 through the home theater, but the TV
    sounds through the TV speakers.
    What I want is to have both, the TV and the APTV2 through the home
    theater.
    can you help???
    Any help would be appreciated !!!
    thanks

    Sony Bravia KDL-22EX320 -  Bravia Internet TV services (in particular BBC iPlayer) have successfully worked via several ADSL routers, the last of which was a Netgear DGN2200. Last week I replaced the router with a BT Home Hub 3 and can now no longer watch BBC iPlayer. All other internet services work and I have no problem watching iPlayer on other devices (PCs, iPad, smatphones, Sky, LG TV etc) connected to the hub. On the Bravia I now get the following message:
    "The page display failed. Please check the following items:
    - Is URL correct?
    - Is network settings correct?
    - Is LAN cable connected?
    In certain network situations, it may not be displayed even under correct setup."
    The fault occurs regardless of cable or wireless network connection and interestingly the BBC News app works fine!
    Any ideas?
    I am not sure what to suggest but can confirm the iPlayer works very well on my Sony Bravia W6 with HH3.

  • Can't play burned cd on home stereo

    I used to be able to play burned cd on home stereo, now it sounds like it's playing in a tunnel. I checked to be certain it's on -cd, but I no longer find settings for home stereo. Help!!!

    Problems with bad audio quality in burned CDs can often be improved by burning at a slower speed. Burn again and use 1x. Not 4x. Not 2x. 1x. The setting is found as the "Preferred Speed" when the burn dialog box comes up.
    Also, I assume you know this, but make sure to use CD-R blanks, not CD-RW.

  • Need receiver and home theather system

    I'm consolidating all my peripherals onto the 6 year old 60" JVC HDtv that is connected via the Dish satellite.  I'm pretty sure I'll need a receiver and want to replace my old home theater system as well.  Just moved into a temporary house, so won't be doing any major mods or permanent installation though & therefore wireless speakers would be a definite plus.  The other significant issue is that my wife wears hearing aids so we definitely need a sound system that will allow dialogue enhancing &/or a separate personal amp system, compatible with the HTS.  She's tried TV ears, but the ear plugs are uncomfortable for her. Are headphones the best solution?
    I have a wireless router, so what's the best solution for accessing the internet and viewing on the HDtv?
    Thanks for any/all feedback and recommendations

    Ken,
    Wired or wireless over-the-ear headphones would be a great solution for you if your main concern is dialogue clarity.  Especially if you're in a temporary location and want ease of use/setup.  Now, if you want something you can both watch movies and play music on, and you want to keep wiring to the bare minimum (as well as killing two birds with one stone by having internet streaming on the TV...), I highly recommend an integrated home-theater-in-a-box with Blu-ray Player (i.e. Samsung, Sony) that have wireless rear speakers.  The Blu-ray player part of it will have the Wi-Fi built-in and the rear speakers will get their power from a wireless receiving box that needs only plug into power anywhere in the room.  You can get decent clear sound from these by running your Dish box directly into an HDMI input on the home theater and have a second HDMI cable running from the output on the system to an HDMI input on the TV.  Food for thought!

    A crude but effective way would ,assuming the Sony has an AUX in ,
    is a stereo bluetooth receiver
    plugs into aux and recives music over B/T from
    the iPhone etc ,as used by many in vehicle
    For instance as an example

  • Mass storage issues (does not play in car on home stereo) after upgrading to V4.5

    I am having issues with Mass Storage after upgrading my 8130 to V4.5.  I can no longe hook the device to my home stereo or car stereo to play music. My computer does read the device.  It is not my media card.  I still have my old blackberry: the card shows up on both phones and computers.  It is not my cables as they work with my old phone.  I have also done all the obvious things like pull the battery and play with the media card setting
    This guy had the same issue though i never saw resolution:
    Any idea is appreciated! After upgrading the device software to version 4.5 earlier this week (BlackBerry 8800 with v4.5.0.69 (platform 2.7.0.72)) as proposed by T-Mobile and RIM Germany something has changed with the behaviour when connecting via USB as a mass storage device:
    Using a micro-SD card with 2 GB for some months now as a storage for MP3-Files which can be played with my Blue&Me system in my car. This is some kind of Microsoft Windows mobile platform (Automotive) providing playback of MP3-files etc connected via USB. This was never a problem with the previous software. It behaved as it should. Here is an example of what it previously did (taken from http://supportforums.blackberry.com/rim/board/message?board.id=BlackBerryDesktopSoftware&thread.id=3...):
    "On your Blackberry device, you may or may not first see a message about insufficient current. It just means you can't charge your Blackberry with that PC USB port. Hit the escape key once (on your Blackberry device). You will be prompted a question : do you want to activate USB Mass Storage Mode. You can answer YES or NO. Answer YES."
    The message about insufficient current is important here because the Blue&Me system does not provide the current as proposed by USB-standards. Anyway after clicking this message/warning away the Blue&Me would recognize the mass storage and start playback.
    After upgrading to v4.5 there is no warning about current any more and the mass storage can't be recognized. I've checked both components: The B&M works fine with any other USB-devices connected, and the BB works fine with Windows after connecting via USB (presumably because there is enough current!). All standard settings in Options/Media card for enabling mass storage have been tested but without success.
    Hopefully someone whose genius far exceeds mine will help me with this.  Thank You.

    I have exactly the same issue with my car stereo equiped with USB and my 8130 device. OS 4.3 works fine (and displays the "insuficcient current" message) and after upgrading to 4.5 mass storage mode not works anymore. And of course it works with regular desktop/notebook computers. I've made many experiments with different storage cards (now I use SDHC 8G from SanDisk). The card works fine if I attach it through card reader in my car, it even see multiple drives which cardreader creates.
    Even more I wrote the small blackberry application in java (i'am professional programmer) and ordered BB keys for $20 to deploy it to device. The program uses the RIM api call Device.requestStorageMode() which in my opinion should turn on storage mode of device. But the result was the same - car audio don't see the mass storage with OS 4.5.
    Interesting fact that in OS 4.3 the message about "insufficient current" appears BUT the device CHARGES via this USB without a problem. The same case with OS 4.5 - charging device is possible.
    Also, I can't switch to OS 4.3 because it have the serious problem with bluethooth connections - it suddenly lost my handsfree link and its very bad if I get incomming call during driving and my handsfree not work.
    Forgot to mention - now I have the OS 4.5.0.127
    Michael.

  • Can you play personal videos using home sharing

    Can I play personal videos with apple tv using homesharing?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    They can be shared and played over home sharing, yes.

  • Why can't I play AUTHORIZED content through Home Sharing?

    I have 2 laptops, one is a doomed Win and the other is a blessed Mac.
    I tried home sharing for the first time and to back up my content to my Mac. Both are authorized to play the same content, HOWEVER, some TV shows just won't play (and of course if you can't play it through home sharing, you can't copy it) and I keep getting the authorize computer message!
    Any idea why that is?
    I can't believe that I had to go over my music, playlists and shows one by one before I can move them into the other library, not to mention that I've purchased those items myself under my account!

    If the computer is accessible via home sharing, then it should be possible to simply browse to that computers drive as well.
    Simply copy the ENTIRE iTunes folder from the old computer to the new computer.

  • WAV Files won't play on Windows Vista Home Premium

    We have a HP Desktop PC running Windows Vista Home Premium.  Just recently, certian sound files quit playing.  We also noticed that the system sounds quit working as well.  After looking into it more, I figured out that the drivers are all up to date, that iTunes plays music just fine, and that the internal error beeper in the tower replaced the error.wav when an error window pops up.   I have run defragment, check disk, and other system scanners.  None of these seemed to help.  Does anyone know what the problem may be?

    Have you checked the HP Website and Microsoft Support websites to see if they have any solutions to your problem? Since there could be multiple things causing this, I would check at the places I mentioned first and see if their knowledge base contains an answer.

  • Prevent Apple TV from playing explicit music via Home Sharing

    Hi. I have Home Sharing enabled on my Mac and on my Apple TV. Through the "Computers" icon on the Apple TV, I can watch all my Movies, TV Shows and listen to all my music.
    I have now bought a second Apple TV for my son for his birthday. He is only 12, so I have enabled Parental Controls.  With this, he cannot view any movie rated higher than 12, and the same goes for TV shows. However, he can still hear my explicit music. The music is tagged as Explicit in iTunes, and I have set the "Explicit Music" parental control option to "Ask", but he can still play it without being challenged.
    How can I let him hear the clean music, but not the explicit music on his Apple TV?

    UPDATE
    I went in to iPhoto and created a new album -- called "TV Screen Saver" and copied the photos from the old album that would not load.
    Told iTunes to use that album for home sharing.
    Told Apple TV to use that album for the screen saver.
    Et Voila!
    Must have been something in the various updated softwares that disn't like something from before.
    Who knows.

  • Burned cd's won't play in car or home, using sony cd-r or memorex cd-r 52x

    The cd's i burn with itunes on my G5 10.5.8, and my macbook 10.6.8 will not play on my home stero or in my car.
    I have tried two types of CD's.  Does anyone know what the problem is?  the disks burned on my much older laptop were fine.
    Thanks, Bonnie

    Hi, That's what I tried at first and the burning part wasn't there.  However I figured it out.
    The very first window that shows up after putting the CD in is a drop down window that I didn't know about.
    So... choose "open in itunes"-then make a playlist, and burn!  It worked in both my player and the car!!!!
    I've used a hugh stack of CD's trying different things...  but at last I think I got it.  It looks different on
    my newer computers.
    Thanks so much for answering my questions.
