Play video games with MSI VOX USB?

Hi,
I am interested in getting the MSI VOX USB 2.0 External TV Box and I am just wondering if I can play video games such as Playstation 2 with my laptop using this tv tuner. I heard some tv tuners have the "delay" make them useless to play video games. Does MSI VOX USB have this "dealy", and how is the the picture quality while playing video game with this tv tuner?
Thanks in advance.
Jim

Hiya,
I dont really understand the VoxBox but I've just inadvertadly managed to put the PS2 on my laptop by plugging the video/audio cables into the converter and then into a USB port, and although it did work, and there wasnt a delay or anything, the quality was poor compared to a TV and also it flickered a bit so I'm not sure it would work that well- but that may have just been my computer playing up. Definitely possible though. Sorry I cant offer much more advice!

  • Can't Play Lan Games With MSI K8N

Hi. Went down my mates for a bit of lannage only last time i went down their with my PC. I was using a Asus K8V-SE with no problems and win 2k . Now with the MSI K8N-Neo and XP it says we have a connection in windows and if we unplug it says the connection is unplugged so we know that it is working but I make a LAN game on any game and he cannot see it at all to connect. Drivers for everything on my PC are up to date including latest nforce and his PC is still the same (nforce 2/2500-M) yet he cannot see my game to connect. Fire-wall is also turned off in network manager. Theres a option though which is blank that says "current ethernet adress" do i have to fill this in so he can see my game?

i had a similar problem with internet games for freelancer, it would time out. I found out that some games don't like 2 tcp/ip adapters, and since in windows the IEEE1394 can be used as a tcp/ip adapter you could to 1 of two things.
    1. Disable the Firewire Connection
    2. Bridge the Ethernet and Firewire connections
now i'm not saying this will fix your problem but it's worth a shot isn't it.

  • Anyway to Play Video Games on IMac

Just purchased the new Imac and I have a question. There is only one tv in my house and me and my lady friend fights over the tv. Is there a way I can play video games with good quality on the new IMac? I have seen the eyetv, and was wandering will that work. Thanks
    Cliff

You obviously can play Mac games on the Mac...
if you have a console then you can use the eyeTV Wonder USB.

Q: Can I connect my PlayStation/GameCube/XBox to EyeTV Wonder USB 2.0?
A: You can. EyeTV Wonder USB 2.0 has a delay of only few milliseconds, allowing for excellent live gameplay. Other EyeTV devices have encoding hardware that causes a larger delay, rendering gameplay difficult to impossible.

Well, I got MSIVPS3 to recognize my tv box but I can't seem to get a lock down on any channels.  All i get is snow from every channel. No audio either.  Everything works peachy on my desktop running win2k but my laptop is where I need the video input from a camcorder.  Grrrr.  I think I wasted my money buying this P.o.S.

  • Msi vox usb 2.0 remote/sound problems

please help! i just purchased a new MSI VOX USB 2.0 external tv tuner and i'm having lots of problems...
    1. the dial on the side of the box that is supposed to turn the tuner on/off or change channels doesn't do a thing.
    2. the remote doesn't work at all
    3. sound - i'm using this on a notebook computer and i don't have a line in port. i assume i would be able to just go through the microphone port but it is not so. in the options under properties>device, i can only choose the audio input source to line in (which i don't have) or cd audio (?). it doesn't even work if i set my computer recording settings to 'microphone'... even though i CAN record the microphone input in a sound recording program, i can't hear in in real-time... right now the only way i can hear the TV is to connect the audio cable through my desktop's line in! i can't even hook my speakers directly into the box because the pin hole is too small to fit a normal audio jack...
is my only solution to buy some sort of audio pin converter so i can hook my speakers/headphones directly into the box??
i've downloaded the newest drivers and they don't help at all with any of my problems.
i'm using a notebook computer with windows xp...
please help! thanks very very much!!

I had/have the same problem, with a Dell Laptop running windows XP.
my first solution was to buy a male-male audio connector and hook it directly to my speakers, but having to switch from that and my computer wasn't much fun, I found another work around.
I bought snapstream's beyond TV, and everything has worked well, and I like the snapstream software better than the default software, anyway.  The only problem is that you can't use the composite or S-video inputs, as far as I can tell.  (and having to spend $50 on another piece of software, but use the trial version first to make sure it works)

  • Video Games with Boot Camp

Is it possible on a macbook pro (the latest model) while running bootcamp (Mac OSX 10.6 snow leopard; Windows Vista) to play video games intended for PC's like say Fallout 3 or Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the Windows Vista side of the Macbook Pro and not have any problems like slower FPS or glitches? I've checked Alienware and Macbook Pro components (processors and graphic cards) and they are both very similar, so the Macbook Pro would run like a gaming oriented system. Is this true?

Well, I don't want to mis-diagnose your problem... but it sounds like a video card hardware issue to me.
I for one have Boot Camp installed on my MacBook Pro. I have 45GB for Windows, the rest for OS X, and not having enough HD space... I have a 500GB Seagate SATA II drive in a Vantec NexStar 3 drive enclosure. Currently, I plug the HD in via USB 2, but I've ordered the eSATA card online and should have that in the next few days. I've also used a firewire 400 external drive, btw.
I've installed Tomb Raider Legend, as well as Half Life 2: Episode 1 on the external. Both games play fine, and other than lag from running the games at 1400x900 with all the options turned onto high... they play perfectly. With HL2, I turned the filtering down to 2x, and that helped some. I've barely played any Tomb Raider, as I've got that on my primary PC... but I'm looking forward to playing Far Cry again (beat the game months ago) on the MacBook Pro and see how that looks.
The MacBook Pro is an AMAZING PC IMHO, as it continues to do nearly everything I can throw at it well. If it isn't working that way for you, then have an Apple representative take a look while it's still under warranty. Hopefully your unit will be fixed soon.
In the meantime, best wishes and have a great night!

  • Upgraded Computer Routinely Crashes when playing Video games

I had an "HP Pavilion HPE-150f Desktop PC" for a few years, but about a year and a half ago, I upgraded the graphics card and the power supply. My new power supply was a Corsair TX 650, and my new graphics card was an
ATI Radeon HD6970 Sapphire. Everything went fine until about a month ago (so I had about a year of smooth sailing with this setup).
Usually after 5-10 mins of playing any video game, my computer starts getting hic-hupc (visual and audio lag, as well as input lag), and crashes soon after.
This problem tends to happen most when playing video games, but it also happens at random times when I am not doing anything demanding on my computer.
I get short bits of lag (visual, and sound lag). It starts up at distanced intrevals, but slowly gets more frequent. Eventually, the computer either freezes, or I get a blue screen.
I have cleaned up the dust in my computer numerous times. It didn't really help.
I have updated drivers after doing a full system restore on my computer (along with updating other windows related things), that did not help either.
I thought getting the drivers updated had solved my problem, but when I was playing a video game today I ran into the same issue. Which video game it is is not really a detail, since this happens with almost all games.
I had originally thought this was related to CPU temperatures, but I installed a program that monitors that and everything was within the 40-50 degree range. I'm told this is normal from my friends who get higher temperatures and yet do not run into this problem.
    I'm on windows 7.
I will provide more info if needed. This problem has been ongoing for a few months now.
    TL;DR:
Computer randomly starts lagging-up/freezing. I sometimes get a blue screen and I sometimes don't (meaning I have to restart the machine myself).
Problem happens more often when I am gaming, but it can also happen randomly at any given time.
Thanks in advance to any who can help.
In the next post I will give some info about my machine.

Here is the info of what I have:
    1. Intel Core I7 (It also says: "860 @2.80GHz 2.80Hz" in the ControlPanel->System and Security -> System tab)
    2. ATI Radeon HD6970 Sapphire
    3. Win7 64bit
    4. Driver for Catalyst: Version 12.104.0.0 (for the GPU)
    5. Corsair TX 650
    6. 8.00 GB of RAM
    7. i) The computer did come with the OS (win7 64bit), but it wasn't updated. To update it, I went to the search bar in the START menu and typed something along the lines of "Windows update", which took me to a seperate window, where I could let the computer update itself.
ii) The original product did not have the Power Supply it currently has, or The graphics card it currently has. I bought those two myself to modify the machine.
The original product was a "HP Pavilion HPE-150f Desktop PC". I believe that is the name for it. The System tab in control panel simply says "HPE-150f"
    8. Monitor resolution 1920x1080, connected by DVI connector.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help.
I also used a program called Speccy, which gives you info about your computer.
    About my BIOS, Speccy said:
    Brand:    American Megatrends Inc.
    Version: 5.15
    Date:     25/06/2010
So I went to the following site and updated my BIOS:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=ca&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4063&product=4120554&softw...
It didn't help anything, I still get the exact same crashing.
Lastly, here is an image of the blue screen I am getting:
I also made a thread on the AMD support forums for my GPU's manufacturer, That thread can be found here:
    http://forums.amd.com/game/messageview.cfm?catid=443&threadid=167863&enterthread=y
Thanks in advance to any who can help. I can provide more info if needed.

  • Are iMacs good for playing video games like Skyrim?

I'm most likely to be getting a baseline iMac and I wanted to know if these computers are good for playing video games such as Skyrim before I get rid of my current PC. Also, are these games even compatable with a Mac. I've heard rumors that you can't play these kind of games on a Mac.

So, I can interchange between the Mac OS and Windows at any time I want or did I understand that wrong? Is it a one or the other kind of deal?
Yes, please read the Boot Camp FAQ for additional information.  You will need to buy a license of Windows 7 and once your get the iMac run an App called Boot Camp Assistant and follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows. Once you have you completed you will have both OS X and Windows 7 installed. BTW there is a Boot Camp forum if you have more detailed questions, that is where the Boot Camp and Windows guys hang out.
Note: Whenever you load MS Windows on your Mac it then becomes a  native Windows machine when running Windows. This means like any Windows box it is susceptible to ALL the other issues Windows users have to put up with including viruses and other malware. The good news is even if your Windows partition becomes totally diseased that in no way affects the OS X partition or OS X.
