I am trying to burn DVDs from iPhoto slideshows.  My pictures number in the hundreds and we know that iPhoto captures 99 and then "starts over".  This plays fine from the Mac Book but glitches arise on the DVD when playing it on a DVD player.  Any suggestions on how to overcome the 99 "Chapter limitation" that IPhoto has?  Has anyone heard or tried an app called Vilisoft?  I read good things but I am not sure if it will do what I want.
    Jim

Then use multipel 99 picture slideshows.
You can have up to 8 or 9 slideshows per menu.  If you add a sub menu reduce that by 1 and add 8 more to the sub menu.  The top menu can have links to up to 8 or so submenus (depends on the theme) and each submenu can have up to 8 or so slideshows.
However, converting a very large slideshow to a QT movie as Terence suggested does not envoke the 99 slide limit in iDVD.  It just becomes a single video/movie file.  So you should not have a problem with exporting at the large size, 720 x 540,
and dragging the resulting file into the iDVD menu being sure to avoid any drop zones.

  • Adobe Muse with Edge Animate components plays great on the Mac but images don't show in Windows. Any suggestions?

I am using CC with both Edge Animate and Muse. After uploading to the website host it plays great on the Mac but images don't appear when I'm using Windows. Any suggestions?

    Hi, VelveteenWebDesignGroup-
You're in luck!  We just added in a feature to the latest version of Edge Animate CC (3.0) to enable the CDN option for OAM publish (what we call the "Animate Deployment Package").  This means that your Animate compositions can now references jQuery and the Animate runtime from the network instead of from the project directory.  (Please note that this will only make sense for Dreamweaver and Muse integration with OAM and won't make sense for InDesign.)
To turn this on, launch Animate and go to File > Publish Settings.  Then select the Animate Deployment Package on the left and click "Host runtime files on Adobe CDN."  Save and publish, and you should be good to go.
    Hope this helps,

  • IPad cannot play "Back to the Mac" Apple Keynote Podcast ???

Are you kidding me??? Why isn't Apple publishing its own podcast in an .m4v format the iPad can play?
So much for the "integrated" ecosystem Jobs touted in the earnings call Monday...

What I did a few hours ago is deleted the file from the podcast in iTunes, then right-click on the Apple Keynotes podcast feed header and Update Podcas, right-click on it again afterwards and Show all available episodes, then finally download it again. I now have a file which is reported by iTunes as 1,004.4MB and by Finder as 1,053,109,240 bytes - different from the filesize on my previous download - and this file now DOES correctly play on my iPad (and iPhone4 and AppleTV).
My guess is either (1) Apple re-published the file to the podcast feed after some of us had downloaded it (and it got cached various places too) and/or (2) some problem with their content distribution network meant there were some "bad" copies of the file able to be downloaded (depending on which CDN server a user's download request happened to get satisfied by).
Anyway, deleting and re-downloading - and doing no other fiddling - worked fine for me.

  • Recording selected iTunes radio-played songs on the Mac

Looking for an article or other reference or single Apple Discussion post which covers both the technical and business/license aspects of recording (for personal replaying/use only) selected songs heard on iTunes-accessible radio stations. Thanks for anything. marthadance

First check and make sure your ipod has enough room to hold all of the songs. If it doesn't have enough room then that may be why it won't sync all of them. Second there is the possibility that you have duplicate songs and have previously selected to not sync duplicate songs to your ipod. Seeing as one of the songs that won't download is one that you just bought, this probably isn't the problem. The third thing I would do is make sure ur computer, iphone, and both itunes have all updates. Hope this helps!

  • Does the Mac pro DVD player play Blu-ray discs?

I suspect the answer is no, because the only DVD's that don't work in my player are blu-ray. But if someone can confirm this for me that would be great. If I need to download software to make my DVD player Blu-ray please direct me to the right site.
    S. Walker

You can use a third-party BD drive to read and write data discs. However, there is no built-in software to play video BD's, even if you have a drive that can read them. I don't know whether there is now any third-party software that can play those discs; the last time I remember checking, there was not. It's technically (but not legally) possible to convert BD's to a format that can play natively on the Mac, but that subject can't be discussed within the terms of use of this site.
The copy protection on BD's won't allow them to be played at full resolution on an external display without end-to-end hardware copy protection (HDCP) in the graphics subsystem.

Your set up is not completely clear to me, in particular what kind of TV you have and how it connects to your MacBook Pro, but this article may give you some help with getting your computer to work with your TV for video -

  • Why is it that an amplitude-scaled sound does not play louder than the original sound using Play Waveform?

I don't know if I have posted this on a correct location (kinda new here).
I am trying to demonstrate the effect of multiplying a constant to a waveform. I have a sound file read by Sound File Read Simple.vi. Then I am trying to scale the amplitude of the signal by a constant number. I've tried three methods for this: the Numeric Multiplication, the express VI Scaling and Mapping, and the scaling and conversion VI of Signal Express. The waveform shows that the amplitude of the scaled signal is indeed scaled, but when played thru the play waveform VI, the sound level is still the same, no matter how much I am scaling the input. Does anyone why is this so? Also, I really wanted to show that scaling an audio waveform results in a louder waveform. How do I do this? As much as possible, I've wanted to use simple VIs as the class is an introduction to signal processing and the students (and so am I) are still finding our way into LabVIEW (we used to use MATLAB in the course).

    Hi kirkbardini,
According to this article about Low Volume From Sound VI, you can use a scalar multiple to increase the volume of a sound saved to a .wav file, so you should be able to do this before playing it.  Does that not work for you?
That information is for Labview 7.x and hence outdated. As mentioned before. Labview do a normalization before sending data to the sound card. As you know sound cards are most often 16 or 24 bits. And in most cases data input to a sound card is in DBL type. After normalization the data is converted so the floating point value 1 represent full scale output on data sent to the the sound card DA. To get any further I suggest kirkbardini take the time needed to send us his/hers current code. Then we may solve things from there
Besides which, my opinion is that Express VIs Carthage must be destroyed deleted

  • My DVD's Audio is fine on the Mac - but MISSING on stand-alone player

Slightly wrong forum (sorry) but all the experts are here!
Re-hashing my 4:3 DV (PAL) movie for a re-release of the DVD and all's gone extremely well until now.
On my (DVDSP) burned DVD all video is working fine - the audio files are .ac3
No audio in the AUDIO_TS folder on disc - or in the cache (using finder).
    Where did I go wrong?
How can it play perfectly on the Mac (DVD Player) and there be NO AUDIO on the stand-alone?
    Thanks in anxious anticipation!

Talk about a fun Friday, we have HUGE floods here (no - nothing to do with the DVD problem, OR the vacuum cleaner) the UK's had an abnormal amount of rain recently and today's been hideous!
To get back to the topic, as in all pro studios, the DVD player is on the floor - and the carpet was vacuumed yesterday. I notice the player had moved but it didn't dawn on me to check the cables.
Typical of me - assume there's a really serious technical problem first - check the obvious last!

  • How can I play games from the app store?

Wondering how I can see what games I can play on my laptop rather than on iphones/ipads?

There are two different stores. The Icon in the Dock on your Mac takes you to the Mac App Store.
No the iPhone games do not play on the Mac. Yes, you have to buy the same title again for the Mac if you want to play it on the Mac.

  • HT1296 Playing movies on the iPad

Just taken delivery of iPad 2. Connected and found tgecsyncing with MacBook pro easy. HOWEVER the reason for the ipadvis to let the children watch movies on the go. I've a few DVD's that have an associated digital copy included.
I've registered and downloaded the movie and it plays fine on the mac book but I can't get the movie on to the iPad. When I select the film in iTunes and select sync it won't sync.
It's driving me mad! I've read lots of forums and it seems a common problem.
    Any suggestions??

Have a look at VLC Streamer. You can stream and save it to your iPad.

  • What is the recommended Mini DVD  VIDEOcamera for the MAC.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A PANASONIC MINI DVD AND THE MAC DOES NOT RECOGNIZE IT WHEN CONNECTED TO IMOVIE.
LOOKING FOR A NEW ONE, SHOULD I GO WITH A CANON ?
NEED SOME ADVICE, THANK YOU ALL !

Just to expand on that last post, Its true. There is NO good solution for editing from DVD. First, DVD comcorders generally compress the video poorly, too poorly to edit with. Second, it is encoded using MPG compression which, without Quicktime plugins, wont naturally play outside of the Macs DVD Player. Third, the MPG stream coming from DVD can be very problematic in editing.
The best way to go, from a consumer-level standpoint, is the Mini DV or HDV formats. The quality is great and its TOTALLY plug and play.
If you HAVE to use DVD, i would find a program like MPEG Streamclip to transcode the DVDs over to DV or something editable.
I couldnt even recommend the hard drive based camcorders out there.
    good luck,
    joe

  • Play waveform on speakers on mac OS X

    Hi all,
I am new to Labview, so this question might be much simpler than I thought it was, but it has been driving me crazy the past few days.
Basically, I work in a university research lab. For the purposes of one of our projects, I need to generate waveforms, and output them through the speakers of my computer.
I can do that fine on a PC running Windows XP, however the lab I work in mostly uses Macs under OS X. The problem is I can't figure out how to get the Mac to play the waveform I generate using Labview on its speakers (I use the same VI on Windows and Mac OS to generate the waveform).
    Which leads to my questions:
    1) What sort of "vi sequence" am I supposed to use to get a Mac under OS X to play a waveform on its speakers?
    2) If I can't play a waveform on a Mac, what sort of output should I make my "waveform generator" have?
Please bare in mind I am relatively new to this, and might need a somewhat detailed answer.
    Thank you,
    - John

    John,
I have no trouble making my Mac make sounds. Dual G5, Mac OS X 10.4.11, LV 8.5 (but I have done it with many earlier versions as well).
I generate a sine array with the frequency and duration I want. I scale that to match the input to the Snd Write Waveform.vi. For the 16 bit inputs the scale is -32768 to + 32767. Set the sound format input to sound quality = mono, rate = 44100, bits per sample = 16 bit. Run.

    Hello:
This is not an area I have much experience in......I rarely insert DVDs and I have never had a similar problem.
When the DVD is in the drive (and DVD players is open) click on File>get disk info.
