Playback after transfer

I have a movie I've created in iMovie (5) on one of my PowerBooks. I transferred it to my PowerMac a few months ago and when I played it back it was choppy and the audio was bad. I thought it was because my 60G hard drive was almost full.
So I recently upgraded to a 120G and moved the file again, but the playback is still choppy. The movie itself is 25G but even with that I have over 30G remaining on the hard drive.
I tried a "Save As..." to see if that helped but I still get the same choppy playback. When I transfer the movie back to the PowerBook, all is well again.
Any help would be appreciated.

Can it be so that Your other (New) Mac have iMovie HD 6.0.3 ?
If so the general advice is: Keep Your project in one program environment
till Your project is finished.
If You NEED to move it I would either (in iMovie HD 5 miljoe):
- Copy back to a new tape in Your Camera and use this in a new iM6 project
- or - redo from scratch.

Video size is larger after transfer

I have a 60gb JVC Everio HD camera. I'm saving my transfers to a 500gb external drive. I currently have 25gb of video on my camera. When video was transferred to external drive the transfer size shows 211gb. Does anyone know why after transfer the files is so big? How does the 25gb on camera end up 211gb on harddrive?? I work for JVC and would like to try and help.
Can you give me a little more info?
1. The model # of your cam (GZ-HD300, GZ-HD3, etc.)
2. The recording mode you used (UXP, XP, FHD, 1440CBR, etc.)
3. What software/version you are using to edit (I believe iMovie 09, but please confirm)
4. The specific method you used to transfer the video (via USB, via i.Link, using the import from camera mode in the software, etc.)
There may be a better method that doesn't result in such an increase in file size. Let me know the answer to these questions and I will do my best to help.

Choppy timeline playback after motion effects

I'm working in FCP 7.0.1, on a MacPro Quad-Core Intel Xeon 2.26 GHz processor, working with footage pulled off the trusty JVC GY-HM100U HD camera.
I've created an editing project that adopted the default footage codec settings (XDCAM EX 1080p24 (35 Mb/s VBR) ), and my issue is that whenever the sequence playhead passes over a "motion tab" effect in the timeline (i.e. traveling frames, cropped/zoomed footage), the playback thereafter hitches and stutters. Regardless of whether I set the RT to safe or unlimited, or the image quality to dynamic or low/med/high, I seem to get the same effect. Worse yet, if I click onto an entirely different sequence from another project, the stuttering playback occurs there as well. It seems that I need to quit and restart FCP if I want seamless playback after the playhead gets "infected" by a simple motion tab effect.
Just to note, there is nothing in the timeline that even needs rendering, and I've ruled out irregular window abutment and sizes that I've read elsewhere can interfere with playback.
I have more than enough processor firepower on my rig to push this footage around -- any ideas on what gives?

Okay, I figured out that Windows has "AutoPlay" settings which can automatically download photos and videos from a newly connected device, such as an iPad Mini. I think I could open it in Windows Explorer too that way but the auto download solved my problem.

Sorry but did it as you adviced and have the same issue. Missing many of pictures. But they were on original external drive.
Just wonder what the aditional libraries doing on the external hard drive. Never created any of them.

During initial setup of mac pro, used pc to mac transfer, after transfer mac requires new password to enter account but will not accpt password

During the initial setup of mac book pro, I did the pc to mac transfer. After transfer was complete, mac had two user accounts aspen pc machine? and dell. Upon trying to access either, the mac says I have to enter new password to enter. It will not accept new password. What do I do?

Well....I bit the bullet and called Apple tech support this morning and agreed to pay my $49 for the tech support. I ended up talking to a Boot Camp specialist. In the end his position was that "they didn't support Windows" and my particular problem was a "Windows problem". I countered with the fact that they advertise that one of their selling points was that Windows could run on an Intel Mac and that I ought to at least be able to install Windows. They said that most people were able to install Windows with no problems. I agreed, but told them that, after searching the Internet, I had read numerous posts from folks that had the same problem and that Apple really should address it. They were very polite and even agreed not to charge me the $49, but their final position was that it was a "Windows problem."
I guess that at this point I'll try to return the Windows disk to Amazon and see if they'll give me a replacement.

Premiere pro CC drop playback after update 7.2.1

Why premiere pro cc drop playback after update 7.2.1? I have a MacBook Pro late 2011 with ATI Radeon HD6770m 1GB. Premiere pro cc 7.1.0 run normal, ok, without crashing and drop-freeze frame, but after update 7.2.1 i have all this problems.

Just came on here to post about the buzzing transitions, glad to see it's been fixed already!
Another thing though I don't see mentioned, since moving to 7.2 I find audio playblack is out of sync while editing, and in some clips significantly more noticeably than others. This only happens during playback, if I pause and scrub manually, the audio is perfectly in sync. This actually messed up a project for a client. I thought the audio off the camera was out of sync in one segment so I bumped it a few frames before exporting. Didn't check it after of course and sent him the file, then got a reply back that it was out of sync in that spot. Check the exported video and sure enough, he was right. Check it again in project but it looks in sync. So I bump the audio back in the timeline so that it LOOKS out of sync again during playback, but the new exported video is perfectly in sync!
Editing a TV show now with hundreds of clips and it's maddening with some looking fine, some looking a little off, and some looking completely off and having to manually scrub to check and be sure along the way.
Hopefully this is also fixed in this update..will see tomorrow.

Choppy playback after upgrading hardware

I've recently upgraded from a phenom 965 and 7gb 1333 gb ram, to an i5-2500k with 16gb 1600mhz. Otherwise everything is the same, i just reinstalled windows and premiere pro after the upgrade. After the upgrade this error, or annoyance, occured. Here's all the specifics:
-Premiere pro CS5.5.2 v/latest updates
-Windows 7 pro (fresh install v/important updates)
-h.264 in mp4-container
-no error messages
-very choppy playback after "jogging". When theres a lot of movement, the picture becomes very "stuttery" and "pixelated" in that area.
-no extra codecs or similar is installed.
- hardware:
-nvidia gtx 560 v/latest drivers
-i5 2500k @ 4,6Ghz
-16Gb 1600mhz xmp ram
-7200rpm 500gb source hdd
-5200rpm 120gb scratch disk
-Agility 120gb ssd OS and programs
I have tried using 1/4 playback, using ssd as scratch disk, installing and uninstalling extra codecs but none of it made any difference. The cpu or ram never exceeds 50% capacity when the problems occur.

But wouldnt the cpu reach 100% capacity before it starts being the bottleneck?
Only if all the other components supply data fast enough that the CPU can run flat out. If the CPU has to wait for other components to catch up, CPU load will be less than 100%.
If you race alone on a track and there are no other contestants (components) in the race, you can go flat out at 100% of the speed, but if the track is filled with many other contestants (components) from a local old-age house, your speed will drop significantly.

ITunes issues after transfer from another MacBook

I just got a new MacBook Pro. My iTunes screen is too long & I cannot shorten, unless I go full screen. When I do I 'm not allowed to scrool down my music files when listing ipod selections. Essentially it is stuck at the top. The other selection options allowe my to scroll down. #2 I'm not allowed to update downloaded books to my ipod on new computer after transfer. Please assist. I have the updated version iTunes 1o.

I will go into a bit more detail with my situation in loading my ipod. I'm in the ipod screen (Music) I checked the selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres option.
When I go to the actual PLAYLISTS, I can only check what is visible on the screen. When I scroll down in full screen or non-full screen, the screen goesdown the library list that is on the left and not my selected playlist. This did not happen on my older MacBook Pro. I tried updating the iTunes. Still it seems to be stuck. I have mulitiple ipods and this happens to all of them. What do you think ?

Lost phone characters after transfer

Hi,
I use latest version of the pc-suite and a E70.
When I transfer my outlook contact to my phone, I lost the "plus sign" for all my phone numbers ...
All my phone numbers are encoded using that (international codification for to make international call) ... so after transfer I can't make any calls as a number like +1234 665 3337 becomes 1234 665 3337 !!!

Stop Playback After Current Track

I hate to stop the music in the middle of a track, so i would love some way to make Spotify stop playback after the current track.
Right now I can simulate the desired behaviour by right-clicking an empty playlist, (that i have created for this purpose only) and selecting "Choose as Current Playlist" and making sure that the play queue is empty. While this is a nice workaround, I think that it would make sense to include a real "Stop Playback After Current Track"-function in Spotify.
Update (2015-02-01):
The previously suggested workaround doesn't even work any more as Rapti has pointed out in a comment. At one point it could even make Spotify crash completely.
I would like to point out that a saner, more flexible queuing system could allow even finer control over when to stop playing. Thus people who like this idea might also like:
Make entire play queue editable (I have added my own comment to that idea about how Google Play Music seems to work)

I've also wanted this feature for a long time, and I made a little userscript to do this using the Spotify Play Button. I wrote a blog post about it in Norwegian a couple of minutes ago. Here it is, run through Google Translate. A couple of the translations are a litle corny and weird, but I think you'll get the point, though. Memory 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB
The video file was a .mov file from a Canon 7D. Essentially I downloaded Adobe Premiere CC 2014, downloaded the update because I tried to open up an older project and then imported one movie file.
Playback from all windows didn't work. But after I tried to change settings in the preferences as 'RoninEdits' suggested but I ended up just searching around and didn't change anything. I stepped away for a second to check on my cookies in the oven and when I came back press play and the video now works. Any idea what happen?
I'm not sure what happen but I'll continue monitoring this issue. I'll touch base if I run into the problem again.

New iPod..cant see artist after transfer

Purchased new 30Gb iPod. Loaded new CDs but after transfer under `artist` on the iPod it shows the songs only not the `artist`. The `Artist` is shown under genre. Songs are also shown under playlist. The info is shown on the iTunes screen correctly but doesn`t seem to take the information to the right category on the iPod.

Slow video playback after reinstalling Geforce2 MX card

Ok, reinstalled (took out the 9200 card) my Geforce2Mx card and now everything is in super slow motion - video, scrolling, typing, opening and closing of apps, pull down menus, loading of web pages - everything. It's like being back on an old SE30 and now even that seems fast to what is happening now. What did I do wrong? Tried rebooting a few times and resetting pram with no better results.

Press the button near the battery on your logic board, it will reset the PMU, which might help.

Tried that also with no results. Also repaired permissions. What could have happened to the machine to do that?

Installed the modified Radeon ATI 9600 Pro for G5 Edition card and I still have the same slow video playback results. However when I boot up from another internal hard drive I do not have the video problems. Everything works just fine. Both of my hard drives had no video problems before screwing around with the ATI cards and now the one still has the problems with the video playback. This one also has Classic on it and Classic also runs slow. BTW I don't know if this has anything to do with it but when I ran a search result for "ATI" no files are installed on that 2nd hard drive which is playing video and loading pages with no problems. Would trashing all those ATI files on the slow drive do anything to help? Or is this just a coincidence?

Serial number request after transfer

Following many reinstallations when transfering my complete catalog of PE 8, I now receive this message when switching fron Organizer to Editor:
- I have deactivate this serial number on one of my PC and I can ask Adobe now to validate this number;
- I have a new serial number...;
- I want to solve this problem later (5 days remaining).
What should I do since I do not want to to deactivate now on my old PC before I am completely sure of the transfer. So I must continue workig for now.
Beside my intention woul be to up grade to PE 10 some day, Should I do it now in order to solve everyting? In that case what w will happen with the old catalog? Must I keep version 8 on the PC?
Help please

It does’nt seem to cover PE 8 so it does not solve my problem.
