Playback Control Bar

I am trying to remove the Playback Control bar from the course.  I went into Project / Skin Editor and unchecked Show Playback Control.  This removed the bar from the bottom of the screen, but a smaller version now appears at the top of the screen and still allows the user to advance through the slides without even viewing them.  Help!

Great!  Thanks so much!
One other question about quizzes.  I am assuming there is a variable or advanced action I can use for this.  I want the user to take the quiz, and if they do not pass, I want the button 'Retake Quiz' to show, and force them to retake the quiz.  If they got a passing score, I want the Continue button to show, so they can move on to the next slide.  I currently have the Quiz Results slide set up to show the correct number of answers, the total questions, and the accuracy percent, but right now both the Continue and Retake Quiz buttons appear.  I don't want them to be able to move forward by clicking the Continue button unless they haven't passed the quiz.

  • How do you fix scaling issue with any video playback control bar (too small to see) on Firefox 28?

Using a 3200x1800 dpi resolution lap top (Samsung Ultrabook 9 series), when I want to play videos on a webpage, the playback control bar (runs across the bottom of a given video for settings like play, pause, sound level, etc.) is too small to see. I tried scaling using various methods, Windows 8.1 OS, Firefox ad-ons like No squint with no success. Of course, these tools work to rescale everything else but the playback control bar. This is not a problem on IE as when you rescale, everything including the playback control bar
    rescales. Thanks

You can set the layout.css.devPixelsPerPx pref on the <b>about:config</b> page to 1.0 or on Windows 8 to 1.25 and if necessary adjust layout.css.devPixelsPerPx starting from 1.0 in 0.1 or 0.05 steps (1.1 or 0.9) to make icons show correctly.

  • Hiding Playback Control Bar

Is it possible to hide the control bar selectively? i.e. for one slide only.
I am using a certificate widget at the end of a quiz but you can get to the certificate even if you fail by simply clicking on the forward button. In the Quiz Preferences I have set the "if fail" option to jump user back to the beginning of of the quiz, but this only happens when you hit a "continue" button. Am I going about this all wrong?

    Hi there
Absolutely it can be done. What you have to do is to create an Advanced Action that hides it. Then edit the slide properties and configure them so the Advanced Action is triggered when you enter the slide.
Personally I like to configure a toggle. That way I create one Advanced Action and not two. The toggle looks at the status and if it's hidden it reveals it. If it's shown, it hides it.

  • Captivate 2 Playback Control Issue

    Grretings All:
I have a Captivate Project that utilizes buttons for all
navigation, so I do not need to see the playback control bar,
except I need the user to be able to use the CC button. I was able
to go into the skin control and eliminate all the other buttons,
except the Info (I) button. So right now the CC button and the Info
button are displayed. Not only is the info button unneeded it looks
bad in the design. I believe this has come up before, but I have
not been able to find the solution. Any suggestions on how to turn
off the Info button in Captivate 2?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Exit Button on Control Bar Working?

    Holiday greetings to all.
The Exit button on the playback control bar (X) does not do
anything at all, much less exit the application on Chrome, Firefox,
or IE. Hover the mouse over the button, and the tooltip says
"Exit". But if this executes any action at all I can't figure out
    what it is.
I tried to do a search on this, but entering Exit into the
search box seems to crash the web page, so I can't find out whether
this is a well known issue, and whether there is a workaround.
    Thanks for any help.

It isn't designed to work in a web page, so far as I know. If
    you publish as
exe, it works perfectly. You can turn off the exit button in
    the skin
    dialog.

  • 508 compliance--Playback control shortcuts and screen readers

Reference to 508 compliance. If you publish the SWF file to
include the playback control bar what keyboard shortcuts work
and/or can you program them? What will screen readers programs do
    with the playback control buttons?

Hmmm, so if I'm understanding the situation correctly, the
ideal response would work like this?
User types some text and is SUPPOSED to press Enter to
evaluate the text. Instead, they press Tab. Immediately upon
pressing Tab, they might see a message of some sort advising the
action is incorrect and further advising that Enter is the correct
    action.
I could see this possibly happening a couple of different
    ways.
    1. You could insert a click box configured with a Success
caption containing the advisory information. Then set the shortcut
keystroke for the click box object to be Tab. End result should be
that the user presses Tab, sees the success caption (which looks
like a failure caption, since they didn't do what was expected) and
the action of the click box would result in re-displaying the slide
with the Text Entry box. (You do this by pointing at a .1 second
slide immediately preceding the slide with the Text Entry box.)
    2. You could possibly configure the Text Entry box so that
either Enter or Tab will serve as the shortcut. You do this by
modifying the Text Entry box properties so it includes a Button as
the trigger. The trick is to assign the Enter key to the Text Entry
box itself and the Tab key to the button. (or vice-versa) Then you
configure the button so it's invisible.
Hopefully one of these helps... Rick

  • Can Captivate 7's playback controls control Flash swf files?

    Hi folks,
I have created a swf file using Adobe Flash and I have imported it as an animation slide in Captivate 7. I have turned on the playback controls to just have the play button and the progress bar. When I export the presentation, the playback controls do not work. The scrubber moves as the presentation is playing, but I can't pause the presentation. When I stop the scrubber or even move it left or right, it does not affect the presentation and it just keeps playing. Am I doing something wrong? I don't want to have to create a custom nav bar in Flash as it would just be easier to use Captivate's playback bar.

I don't think it can be expained quickly as it can be very complicated. But...
Select New Project/Widget in Flash and choose static widget. You need to be very adept in AS3 to actually get them to work.

  • IPad mini losses playback controls/capabilities using shared library content videos

While accessing my shared "authorized" video library on my MacBook Pro, using the latest iTunes version (as of this submission), with my sparkling new iPad mini, the playback controls simply disappear usually after a few minutes, i.e. no progress bar, buttons for stop/start/pause/"done".
The video stream from the shared library cannot be stopped without the on-screen controls so we either attempt to turn off the unit (pressing the top on/off button) or (usually) press the home button after which the video stream/app stops then return to the expected ipad screen but the residual sound stream will continue to run indefinitely.
Most of the time, we hit the home button to end the video playback then wait for the sound stream portion to end which on average takes up to 1-5 minutes to stop completely.
    This is repeatable too.
    SUMMARY:
1). Without power cycling, we can play a video from the shared librar
2). then wait long enough for the video controls to "go missing" or again go unresponsive
3.) then press the home button which returns you to your normal iPad screen
4.) but the sound stream portion will take a while to take its course before ending.
Also, we gave power-cycling between issues but the each and every time, the shared library video playback inevitably ended up with same results.
iPad mini with iOS 6.1.3 factory , wifi only unit with legitimate software, etc. I.e. no jailbreak nonsense.
Any suggestions?  Or is this a glitch/bug which needs addressing?  Or a simple setting on the unit?
    Thanks in advance!!!

I have nearly the same problem, but with an iPad 3rd generation. The symptoms are exactly the same, just a different device.
You documented the problem well, I can only add that resetting and reloading did not solve the problem for me.

  • SWF Control via Standard Control Bar

We would like to control the playback of SWF movie much like
you would a FLV via a standard media control bar. The pre built
controls in Flash work well with video FLVs but do not work with
SWFs. It is important for our core content files to remain as SWFs
as they are true vector animations with an MP3 sound track which we
would like our users to be able to pause, start, scan, control
volume, etc. Rendering them as FLVs causes a lot of file bloat and
the compression is not kind to large areas of flat field color,
    etc.
These SWFs are prebuilt and exist as separate elements
    imported into our Flash Project.
So, is it possible to control a SWF as such?
Are there pre built elements for sale anywhere on line so we
would not have to build the control code and interface art from
    scratch?
How difficult would this be to code from scratch if
    necessary?
    THANKS!!!

    Hi Saqib,
Sorry, I made a typo: I meant user-status (not user-exit). It is also possible have user-statusses in place for network activities. You can customize a user status in that way that it is automatically set at creation or release or a lot of other business transactions.
I can't give the correct business transactions: I think blocking FI-postings related to the activity will do the trick. Unfortunately I have no time to do the checking.

  • Playback Control in Captivate 4 as it was in version 3

    Hi!
I have some projects made using the version 3.
When publishing them in that old Captivate, the playback control (stop, pause, etc buttons) was placed inside the borders of the project, so the measures of the whole movie (swf file) wasn't being changed.
But in the Captivate 4 the additional thick lines are added automatically. So the navigation bar becomes placed on them, not inside the project. Therefore the measures (width/height) of the swf file is increased and that is unacceptable for me.
How can I configure my Captivate 4 to publish the playback control as it was in the previous version?
I mean covering the presentation, but not taking the navigation bar out.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi there
Unfortunately they changed that aspect. No workaround exists that I'm aware of. About all you can do is lodge your compliaint with the development team using the Bug form. (link is in my sig)

  • In Quicktime 10.3, why can't I hide the playback controls? It is most annoying when giving a presentation to a large group to see the control panel appear. I just want them to see the movie. Thanks!

    How to hide playback controls?

The problem is I don't want my audience to EVER see the playback controls, just like I don't want to see a TV station's playback controls onscreen when watching TV. Same in a movie theater. The movie should just appear and play.
And not moving the mouse is not an option when going between a slide program and a movie program, which our presentations often if not always do.
Is there a way to do what I want in my computer using Quicktime?
There are no user preferences for any current version of QT X. If you must use "Full" screen mode, then start player playback before entering the "Full" screen mode and exit the "Full" screen mode before again moving the mouse to avoid seeing the controls when you do manipulate the mouse. Only other option might be to use a non-mirroring workflow strategy.
Does Quicktime Pro have that ability?
Yes and no. The QT 7 media player window normally displays the controls at all times. However, when keyed for "Pro" use, you can go to the "Properties" window and change the "Presentation" movie controller type to the "None Movie Controller" setting. In this setting all playing modes other than "Full" screen mode display the player with title bar above the viewing area but without side frame or controls under the display. If you are using the "Full" screen mode for your presentation, then you can open the "Preferences" window to the "Full Screen" tab and deselect display of the "full-screen controls." In both cases you will have to either use menu options to start/stop playback or double-click the display screen to start playback and single-click the display screen to stop playback manually. (NOTE: In the first instance the property setting is/can be saved to the file itself while in the second the setting is saved as a QT 7 Player preference to the player itself.)

  • Compose movie FLV without control bars?

How do I produce  a SWF that acts as a Flash-player that does not have a control bar? All of the ones I have place a control bar on top of the visual.
    THANKS!

As Todd suggested, you can get much more help on that on the Flash forums. The short answer: You need a standard player, but you hide the playback controls by feeding it with proper external parameters (Flashvars) in the HTML code that control what is actualyl visible. For certain scenarios you may also wish to properly embed the FLV video in an SWF file instead of using a streaming player such as is the default e.g. in Dremweaver.

  • Moving control bar location down..

Hey guys. I need to move the location of the control bars
down a few pixals on the screen. I remember a long time ago reading
a work around or a way to do so. But I can't seem to find it or
anything. Does anybody know how I can move the control bars down
just a little bit so it isn't covering a part of the screen? Thanks
    in advance.

    Hi smejus57
Are you referring to the playback controls? If so, there are
now a couple of ways to do it.
    1. There is the old way of resizing the project to provide
    additional room at the bottom.
    2. There are now the skins, where you click Project >
Skin... > Borders tab and adjust the width of the bottom border.
However, many don't like the fact that the skins feature creates an
additional .SWF file to contend with. So they turn off the borders
and it forces the playback controls into a single swf with the main
    movie.
    Which method are you using?
    Cheers... Rick :)
