Playback garbled

When I try and watch Apple keynotes the video and audio playback are jumpy and garbled. Windows & Quicktime are fully up to date. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling quicktime - no help. I can watch videos in iTunes no problems. My Internet connection is fast so this isn't the issue. Suggestions?

When you export a QT movie from Keynote, it looks bad. Not sure why this is, but you can see the difference just by playing the slideshow as it exists next to the QT of the same slide show exported. I don't use QT from Keynote for this reason and just use alternative methods.

  • Garbled playback and can't uncheck hardware acceleration

I have the latest version of flash player on a macbook with mountain lion. i have garbled, green video playback, and after searching the web for about an hour it looks like it has something to do with hardware acceleration being turned on. when I right clicked on flash videos as well as the flash logo for some howto pages dealing with this bug, a dialogue pops up, but that dialogue is useless because it is totally unresponsive to clicks. Therefore, I can't change anything, including unchecking hardware acceleration.
How do I disable hardware acceleration given that this dialogue is totally unresponsive to mouse clicks, and when I try to use tab and space or enter to uncheck the checkbox for hardware acceleration, the checkbox stays selected? Better yet, how do I make it so that flash videos actually work?

Is this a Macbook with a retina display?  If so, please install our beta 2 release on labs and make sure to select the  "Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)" option at the end of the installer.  Give it a few hours and you should get an automatic update that will hopefully fix the issue of the hardware acceleration dialog being unclickable.  I'd also like to know if this addresses the green screen issue you are getting.
    Thanks,
    Chris

  • Playback sound is garbled using any source or any recorder

I bought a Toshiba L745-S4210. The sound on any recording is garbled and sounds like it's underwater no matter the source and no matter if I use the "sound recorder" or any other program to record music. This happens on the playback after 30 seconds to 2 minutes. I have downloaded the latest sound card off the Toshiba site. My system uses Conexant Smart Audio HD. Does anyone have a suggestion?

It sounds okay at the beginning though?

    Hi kcaudle.
Check if all the files are compatible with the tablet. Check for all the supported file formats in the tablet: http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/documentLink.do?externalId=C1024057
Try clearing cache and data for the Walkman app and other music playback app following the steps mentioned below:
Tap on Home icon > Apps and Widgets > Settings icon > Apps > All apps > Locate the app > Tap to open the App settings > Clear cache > Clear Data > Restart the Tablet.

  • Recording sounds garbled on playback

I have a customer who is using QM to do their call recordings. Recordings are done at the desktop end, and transferred to the server nightly. The problem they are experiencing when the supervisor plays back a recording from the day before, about 1 in 10 recordings sound garbled. The problem with recording quality always happens after an internal transfer to another agent.
For instance, an external caller talking to agent1 will sound perfectly fine. But when agent1 puts the caller on hold, and speak to agent2, the recording of both agent1 and agent2 degrades (similar to stuttering). When agent1 resumes call with caller again, the stuttering continues, with audio from caller being heard with a few seconds delay in response to agent1.
They've had the QM installed abt 2-3 years ago, but issue only started happening 9 months ago. The issue is random, happens to some agents, and the time of recording is scattered throughout the day.
Their LAN is very straight-forward, with separate vlans for voice and data. No SPAN/RSPAN is used. Agents are connected to various floor switches, which connects back to the core switch where the QM server, UCCX, CUCM, etc are connected to. All agents use IP handsets 7941 which is daisy-chained to their computers.
Any ideas of where I can start looking into the issue?

    Hi Nisaar,
No, I haven't found the cause for this recording quality issue yet. The problem happens not just on call transfers, it sometimes happens on calls from an external number, or internal calls. The IP phone makes a copy of the RTP and sends it on to the PC which is daisy-chained. The issue also happens when playback is direct from the PC on the day of recording, prior to transfer to the server. Therefore I can't see what can affect the recording other than the phone switchport, the ethernet cable between phone and PC, and the PC itself.
I tried replicating the issue by making calls with high CPU usage and high network utilization, but was not able to replicate it. I've also checked phone settings, and it has audio packets marked with CS3 tags, and NIC has flow control enabled and priority&vlan enabled. I've gone through sqm logs and the recordings are marked for quality and archiving. I don't know where else to look.

  • [HELP] Garbled music playback

I have music loaded onto my iPhone 3G that I also use as an iPod. I was listening to music yesterday and it seemed fine.
Today it is playing back garbled. You can make out the song, but the playback has a lot of odd tones and just sounds sort of mixed up and flattened out.
I've not done anything significant with the phone in the interim. It was not hooked up to a PC. I used to to make calls, surfed a bit with Safari, and plugged it in overnight to charge it up.
Today when I try to play, it is messed up. I tried turning it off and restarting it from scratch, but the problem persists.
Any idea what might be wrong and what sort of corrective action I can take?
    Scott

instead of restarting the phone, which does nothing, try resetting it by pressing and holding the sleep and home buttons for about 10 seconds until you see an apple. Ignore the slider. Then retry.

  • V7 Major Playback Bug - Garbled Sound

Just upgraded to iTunes V7. Now I cannot play anything from within iTunes. When playing a song, it is just garbled. You can hear the song enough to tell what it is. But it is severly distorted. More of a "repeating warbling" type sound. Like a scratched record that is playing the same section over a few times before moving on. Also, when I double click a song to play, it takes 12-15 seconds before any sound at all comes out.
In my other players, like Windows media, songs play just fine. All other audio seems OK. Just now cannot play anything in iTunes V7.
I have had iTunes since at least version 4 or 5, and upgraded everytime a new version came out. Each time with no issues until now.
    Using Windows XP, SP2
    2 Gig RAM
    2 Terabytes Data storage
    AMD 4800 Dual processor
Sound Card - Creative Emu 1212
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...

    Hey,
I think this article will help: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93610
Ive also seen similar issues when the Windows sound playback device is set to an application. The article above shows you howto get to Sounds and Audio Devices, you can change the sound playback device from the audio tab.

  • Garbled music playback in 9.0.3 - anyone else experiencing this?

I updated to iTunes 9.0.3. Now many of the tracks in my library sound garbled when played; it's as if they were recorded at a very low bit-rate. It's affecting a high percentage of the tracks. It started after sleeping and awakening my laptop. I suspect rebooting will fix it, but haven't tried that experiment yet. It affects both mp3 and aac files.

Never mind; my headphones weren't fully plugged-in, causing the audio amplifier to act screwy (maybe its output was partially shorted?).

  • Garbled Viedeo Playback.

Video play back on my new 120GB is garbled. The image is accompanied by red and blue noise that only ocures during video play back. The videos were downloaded through Itunes. How can I fix this.

Well, if I go to system preferences and set the output to built in, then I get no sound out of the studio monitors. I can get sound out of the desktop computer.
I can access youtube videos. Funny, some, like the cat herder video sound normal. Quality music and voice. Others, such as a funny add for JAPP chocolate does not sound right. Quality music but some background and voice comes over garbled, just like on the DVD's. However, if I switch to the built in audio, then both music and background sound quality.
It is almost as though DVD's have music and voice on different tracks, and for some reason, DUET does not access the one track properly. And, if I am correct, some Youtube videos have music on one track and voice on another and the voice track doesn't come through DUET. Whereas some you tube videos (the cat herder commercial, for example) have both voice and music on the same track and therefore they both sound good through DUET.
Perhaps Apogee is saying.. "our product is great for Logic Pro and other music programs but we are not what you want for watching DVD's on your computer.... as a matter of fact, DUET is not made for that use." Funny, though, for a 500 dollar music interface.
I suppose I should try to access an Apogee forum. But I would think that someone here who has Logic Pro has Apogee Duet and can tell me about this.

  • Full screen playback in PE9 garbled - anyone else see this?

I mentioned this in a general post but I'll make it a specific question now -
When I click on the "full screen" button near the top right of the interface, full screen playback has a corrupted area which corresponds with where the timescale is on the normal interface.  Sometimes the playback cursor "breaks through" as a black vertical line too.
    Does anyone else see this?
I have the latest Nvidia drivers installed.  Windows XP Pro SP3 Q9300 quad core PC 2GB memory.
    Thanks for any observations.

It's very obvious if you do have the problem - a wide strip of the video (horizontal, matching the timescale hidden beneath the full screen display) gets shifted sideways somewhat (flickering on and off), so that any vertical object in the footage gets displaced sideways at that point in an obvious juddering fashion.  I tried to do a screen grab but simply doing that makes the problem change - it is more evident when the footage is running than when frozen.
Anyway, adjusting the Windows Display Properties "hardware acceleration" slider, moving it to the left till it is set to the point where the message beneath reads "Disable all DirectDraw and Direct3D acceleraions.  Use this setting to correct severe problems with DirectX accelerated applications" seems to fix the problem.
Graphics card is a GeForce 8600 GT, in case that's relevant.
At least I know how to work around the problem.  Let's see if others come across the same problem in due course.  Maybe it's just a local issue.

  • Playback of Audible files garbled since 2.2 upgrade

1st gen iPhone, 8g. Starting immediately with the 2.2 upgrade, my Audible files are intermittently garbled.
Each "garble" lasts a few seconds, and some of the words said in that window are lost, while some are barely intelligible. I'd say I get one garble every 10 or 15 minutes on average.
    Any ideas?

No problems here with my audible files.
Have you removed and resynced the audiobook?
Have you tried restarting or resetting?

  • Music playback from laptop to AppleTV (gen1) garbled

    My stats:
    Windows Vista
    HP Laptop
    Most current version of iTunes
    AppleTV first generation
    Home wireless network
Blast modem from Xfinity Comcast - on speedtest.com, get a B+
I don't have an iPod, iPhone or iPad
    Haven't a clue about speakers
Every time I try to play music from iTunes on my Apple TV, the sound becomes garbled - like a radio station that is not tuned properly.  Often times, the song is ruined forever after this problem occurs.
If you can help, please talk to me like I am a moron with an 80 IQ.  I am clueless about ethernet, coextant speakers, syncing, etc.
Please! Help!  I need music in my life!

Thanks for getting back to me.
I have never had a problem with sound on AppleTV while watching anything.
Steaming?  I am hesitant to sync apple tv with my lap top because I have lots of TV shows.  My lap top might blow up.
I guess I don't get the sync thing - what is stored on Apple TV and what isn't.

  • My itunes playback and transfered mp3 files are corrupted and sound garbled...***? All software is updated.

Recently my itunes player and sync mp3's play sped up and garbled. All software is updated
and all obvious logical attempts to fix it have failed. My  files play fine on Media Player, and
burn fine using Nero. Problem's gotta be in itunes.
    Any ideas?

I've uploaded a new version of my DeDuper script which should be able to detect when the same file is on two different paths and act appropriately. The script preserves ratings, play counts and playlist membership and can recycle real duplicates while keeping hold of an original copy each duplicated track. See this thread for background, this post for detailed usage instructions, and please take note of the warning to backup your library before deduping.
Test with the duplicated tracks of a single album first just to get a feel for it. It can take some time to run as it makes 5 passes over the selection, so you'll need to be patient if you are not able to use it with the progress bar active. If it detects the possibility (as it will in your case) that two seemingly different paths point to the same file it will prompt you to confirm the correct path to the media folder. This should be the C:\Users\<User>\Music\iTunes\iTunes Media one, please correct it if it detected the wrong folder before proceeding.

I am haveing a HUGE problem with flash sites (wholeflash and partialflash)
that load a lil something like this
I have tried reinstalling both my browsers (IE8 and FF latest version) and still no luck. this is  on a fresh reformat as well of windows server 2008 R1 x64 Enterprise Workstation

also flash SHOULD NOT SUFFER THAT PROBLEM even with another media player running. That IS A PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED!
Did adobe even bother to test flash player more then just on a mac or a virgin winxpsp2 install? or a 64 bit OS?
Oh that's right... adobe flash team HATES 64 BIT AND DOES NOT HAVE FLASH PLAYER 64!
