Playback is no more working after switching to other application

Hello,
I am running Premiere CS6.02 and the playback works flawlessly until I switch to other application. When I switch back to Premiere the video cannot be previewed at all. Hitting spacebar will change the play symbol to stop symbol and that's it.
I have tried many solutions proposed in other forums:
deleting com.apple.audio.AggregateDevices.plist - it is not located on my computer
repairing permissions
saving project file elsewhere
saving media cache elsewhere
logging in under different profile, then logging back to admin
reinstalling whole CS6 package
restarting computer
None of it works. It is probably connected to audio drivers - if I change in Audio Hardware selected output, then Premiere will let me playback files until I switch windows again.
Any suggestions? I just spent 6 hours trying to fix it.

i7
16GB RAM
SSD main drive
HDD as a second drive

That's CRAZY talk. Of course you can use other applications while Premiere is running. I've just verified it myself, running Premiere, opening other apps, switching back to Premiere... I can even have Premiere continue to play while doing so. Or I can even run Premiere and another NLE at the same time, and if ever there was something that would fight with it for resources... but it works fine.
If changing the selected output in Audio Devices gets you continuing to work, then it sounds like an audio driver issue to me. What are you switching between? If you're on a laptop you probably don't have many options when it comes to audio. Have you had a USB or other audio device connected at some point?

[SOLVED] (Auto)mounting in KDE not working after switch to systemd

After I switched to systemd (everything else works fine now) I cannot mount any disk (CD/DVD/USB disk) with KDE 4.9.2.
I only get the error message "cannot mount the following device: [...]".
This is also the case when logged in as root, so it's probably not a problem with permissions.
Manually mounting works fine.

The error is only displayed in KDE, does not appear in the log.
I have no idea where to look for a missing or wrong setting, so I would appreciate any advice.

I'm not sure I really agree with IgnorantGuru in that I used to use a script which mounted my floppy with udisk --sorry old school--and with the systemd change, I now only had to change my script back to the KISS principle of mount and umount, without udisk, to make it work. I don't understand all the complaints about the direction arch is going. To me it's the same as it's always been. Arch is for competent linux users, simple as that. If you don't want to do the work and figure it out--as best you can--on your own, then the forum is your friend.
edit: @alwaysanoob: Recently, with the change away from consolekit to logind, check to see if your polkit.service is active as many posts are showing that the polkit upgrade is not always activated due to conflicting group id's. I myself had this problem as polkit was trying to use group id 102 which was already taken by an old install of gdm--which I had to remove--before the polkit.service could be started properly after a reinstall of polkit

PID advanced not working after switching on and off

Hello there,
I am trying to simulate the control of an inverted pendulum with the simulation module and the PID toolkit and actually the model runs fine with one problem remaining. When I switch the PID to manual mode and then back to automatic the controller is not able to balance the pendulum to 0 degree like he has done when I started the program.
I have added the project maybe someone has an idea how to get this working because I am not that familiar with these toolkits.

The problem that you have is actually a common problem for those who try to use PID for this problem.
When you try to use only one PID to control angle, the controller is able to keep it up right in the beginning. However, when you switch the controller on and off (going from automatic to manual), this perturbance will make the cart to move to one direction (adding momentum to it) and the PID will try to bring it back to the center, but it will be far away from the center. If you give time, it eventually will bring back to 0.
In this link below, you have more information about this problem and, most important, tells you that for practical controllers, you can't use static PID for this problem. Maybe you could use gain scheduling PID or cascade PID to also control position also. In general, the LQR controller works pretty well for this problem.

Internet sharing no more working after upgrading to 10.5.6

With my early 2008 MacPro, I used to share my internet connection for my old iMacDV 400 (under MacOS 10.3.9).
All the network and sharing settings were fine prior to the upgrade to 10.5.6.
But after upgrading my MacPro to 10.5.6 I am no more able to browse the web from my iMacDV.
I checked on network setting on my iMacDV and thing looks fine, saying that machine is connected.
On the MacPro side, the network and internet sharing settings looks fine also. The firewall log is not showing any rejection of my iMacDV.
Did someone knows if some security fixes in 10.5.6 require to have additional settings in order to be able to share internet connection ?

In fact it seems that the installation of 10.5.6 was not completly done (some reboot were necessary).
I also repair permissions, and things get back to normal, network sharing working fine again.

IPad 2 side buttons no longer work after switching screen

My screen got cracked 4 months ago, but I still used it perfectly fine. Last week i paid a guy to replace my screen, after which, the side buttons (top switch, screen lock/mute, and volume buttons) stopped workiing. The home button is the only button that works. What is causing this and are there any apps i can download that can lock my screen with (so i can tilt is sideways without the screen shifting)? BTW, the guy who did the job said it's not his fault so i cant do anything on that end.

aThen a button will appear on your screen click that then it will give you a device option click on that and you can lock your screen turn the volume up and down and lock the screen rotation. Hope this helps!

Group messaging doesn't work after switching to Galaxy S4

1. Turned off imessage before switching
2. Disconnected my phone number from iTunes, iMessage, FaceTime, Apple, iCloud
3. Deactivated my phone from Apple, however I've gone back on to check 3 times and my phone keeps reappearing on there...not sure how this happens
4. Turned back on my old iphone and whiped it completely to brand new
I have two separate group messages: one with 2 iphone users, one with 3 iphone users. The group message with the 2 iphone users works fine. The group message with 3 iphone users works for ONE of the iphone users, but not for the other two.
They can text me individually and it sends as sms after attempting to send as imessage, but when in the group message it automatically sends as imessage and doesnt allow for the switch to sms.
I've called Apple Care 5 times already, and each time they've suggested something new, asking me to wait 24-hours and then try again. We've all deleted eachother messages and contacts as if we didnt exist any longer and then started a new thread which didnt work either.
Help!

It's difficult to determine by touch if the PB is hot enough to turn the fans on. Do you know the fan/s used to work while performing a certain function? There are two fans, both in the rear, one centered and the other by the power connection. Neither one turns on, even with the power adapter connected?
One fan "test" I've found to be relatively consistent between 800/867/1GHz TiBooks is to run Visualizer in iTunes for about 15 minutes with the power adapter connected. That has always created enough CPU activity to turn the fans on for every TiBook I've ever tested.
If no fans, I would try resetting the PMU and NVRAM first. If that doesn't work, then I'll take a guess and say there may be some difference in the 800/1GHz firmware (assuming all the hardware connections are correct, as you've stated, and the fans themselves function).

Trackpoint does not work after switching from the tablet to laptop mode.

I use my tablet to run a smartboard. Sometimes when I switch to the tablet mode and back by reversing the display, the trackpoint and mouse keys stop working. The touchpad below it still works. I am running windows 7. I have gone into the control panel, under mouse, and both the trackpoint and touchpad are still both checked. ?? When I restart the functions return.

I guess there are two problems with it:
1. It couldn't resume. (in fact I want to start a new session. I don't know where are the old session information: I already removed all related file in the home folder.)

Thanks for your reply! I do have Xorg installed. And The X works fine on the local computer (not remote login).

Query filter doesnt work after switching on hierarchy

I have 0CALMONTH as a mandatory selection criteria on a Bex query. After the result output if the user switches on a virtual time hierarchy / physical hierarchy created on CALMONTH,(year-quater-month) then the query filter entered on 0CALMONTH is ignored and data for all years is displayed. Is there any way to avoid this? Since we want to use this hierarchy in multiple reports, can this problem be avoided by any hierarchy settings?

We can ignore the hiearchey from second level i.e. Calmonth level . In hiearchey settings, level of dispay we have is one. by this setting we will be able to see only first of of hiearchey i.e. calday node.

Can't get router working after switching from DSL to Cable broadband???

I have a WRT54G v.5
I just switched from dsl service to cable broadband. I can't get my router to work. I hooked it back up just as the dsl modem used to be. there is an ethernet cable that goes from the cable modem to the router. then an eithernet cable that goes from the router to the computer. this does not work. If I just take the router out of the loop and run an eithernet cable straight from the cable modem to the computer it works fine. so the cable internet service is working fine up to the modem. The router is the problem. I have restarted both the computer and the router. so that rules that out. can you help me?

Open the setup page of the router by launching an Internet Explorer Browser and type the address bar, 192.168.1.1 and press enter. When it prompts for the username and password, leave the username field empty and provide password as admin and click on ok.On the main setup page the ""Internet Connection Type"" should be on ""Obtain IP Automatically - DHCP “. Click on the Save Settings button.Now click on the sub tab ""MAC address clone"".- Click on enable.Click Clone & click save settings
Check WAN Ip on Status page of router .... If getting Valid Ip .... try going online...If not ... power cycle for 4-5 minutes & then, try going online.

Phone and Internet not working after switch to Fibre

I got a text saying my switch from regular to Fibre was complete today at 4pm but it's not 11pm and my phone is not working nor my internet
Is this normal ? I understand the connection will be temporarily stopped for the Internet but the phone too ? Sorry if the answers are on the forum but I'm just a tad confused at the minute

It can officially take until midnight for the switchover to happen, so there is a chance you may still get the services tonight.
However, there is also the chance that Openreach have messed it up. Essentially, if you've still got nothing in the morning, contact Sky and report it.

Some things no longer work after switch to direct LDAP mode

today i have tried switching to direct ldap mode following the documentation
now i can no longer send mail directed to hosts as
[email protected]
i always get a 5.1.1 unknown or illegal alias:
whereas email@{subdomain}.domain.com is ok, as long as the subdomain is known to the MTA, ie it is an alias object in the DC tree
also, some aliases defined in the file "aliases" are no longer recognized,
for convenience, i had some default forward lines likes
*@domain.com: @otherrelay:*@domain.com
which effectively acted like a smarthost, ie mail to addresses not known in domain.com were forwarded to "otherrelay"
now, probably i could solve the second problem either using a smarthost in the DC tree 's domain config
the first problem, however, puzzles me...it look like if it doesn't find a matching address, and the host is not known as a domain, then further rewrite rules are not applied ?

i found the problem,
in option.dat, DOMAIN_UPLEVEL must be set to 0, in order to have the old behaviour (wildcards in aliasfile, and possibility to send mails directly to specified hosts)
i had set it to 1, in the hope the MTA would be more tolerant to find users (if [email protected] is not found, then maybe it exists at [email protected], so use this instead) as some of our users have quite problems addressing other users in the correct subdomain.
