Playback is very slow

This is my first experience with Speedgrade and footage that plays without a Glitch on Premier Pro is playing back painfully slow in Speedgrade, why is that? I'm using a MacBook Pro, 2.7 with 16gig of Ram and a solid state drive.

  • Record playback is very slow between Flash Server and Flash

    hi all
I have done server side recording successfully with red5 flash media server and can see
that the flv record is being created properly.
Then if I try to playback the record like
NetStream.play("record.flv"), I see that stream playing is very very
slow, for both of audio and video.
And then if I try to playback the recorded file via using the
filesystem path of it, everthing seems fine.
Problem occurs when I try to sucscribe and play the stream of the record.
PS : There is no problem with playing the published stream
    (NetStream.play("streamName"))
Does anyone have an idea about this issue?
If you need any additional information, please let me know.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello Fabio,
    Just for confirmation.
Is the Integration Services is updated on all VMs on that particular host? IC version.
Could you please compare the vNIC properties/advanced between the functioning VM and the slowest VM network?
All VMs have one vNIC or more than one?
How are you copying out data from within the VM? \\IP Address\  OR \\DNS name\ ?
Is the file transfer issue around the same two VMs?
Could you please double check the Adapters and Bindings priority under
    Network Connection\Advanced\Advanced Settings?

In a nutshell flowplayer delivers the video through your web
browser. It does this via http protocol (port 80) and progressive
    download on any web server
Progressive download finds the video on the server and plays
it back through the player as it is being downloaded. 2 important
things to take from this are 1, the video is being downloaded to
the clients hard drive, at the end of the playback they will have a
copy of your video that they can do whatever they like to and
repost it somewhere else. 2, It plays back as it downloads, meaning
if I'm viewing a 10 minute video from your site and want to skip
ahead to the middle or end I have to wait for the whole video to
download before viewing those segments. Your web host by the way
will love you for progressive download because it will appear as
though your transfer rate has gone through the roof. Once the
request for the video is made there is no turning back, the client
gets the whole thing whether they watch it or not.
Flash media server uses the rtmp protocol. This protocol is
an open socket protocol through port 1935. This is a two way street
essentially. When the user views a video using FMS they basically
get only enough of the video to keep the connection open and
satisfy the required buffer to assure clean playback. The bytes of
info that carry the video only go to the users memory, not the hard
drive. This allows the user to jump back and forth around in the
movie without having to wait for the whole thing to download.
    Hope that helps.

  • Playback download VERY slow

I am not an HTML guru and new to Captivate. I created demos
using Captivate 2. I exported them as SWF files for inclusion into
a web site. The problem is that when website visitors click to see
the demo, it takes a while for the download to complete and the
    demo to start.
I have other swf files, bigger, that seem to download and
start much faster. I am not sure why the Captivate demo swf files
take so long to download and start. I am concerned that the delay
will get in the way of people seeing the demos, and that they will
    leave before seeing them.
My demo files are ususally less than 5 minutes long and are
approx. 4.8 Mb, almost no animation, just audio, screen captures,
slides, some mouse movements, and some highlights. Nothing that
seems too unusual from my perspective.
Does anyone have any ideas? What can I do to make the
    download start right away?
    P.

    P. A few ways, off the top of my head:
    You can remove all preloaders
You can deselect "508 Compliance" and "Publish Adobe Connect
    metadata
. . . . if not needed. These are located in Project >
    Preferences > Preferences
You can place an embedded text-only slide at the beginning
You can remove "transitions" from slides and objects in the
    movie
You can "select" ALL slides and change the image quality to
    "standard" *
    . . . . . * By default, most slide backgrounds are set to
    "High", and this
    . . . . . greatly increases file size of the image
    (background).
Any or all of these are likely to decrease filesize and/or
speed up play of the movie. And there are reasons why each, in
turn, might not be a good idea, depending on the circumstances of a
    specific use. Still . . .

  • Openscript runScript.bat very slow

    Hi,
Are there any performance settings that can be done for the runScript.bat file? Playback gets very slow after just 20 iterations and Java consumes a lot of memory and CPU.
I have a functional script to set up test accounts from a databank, so I need to do 1000 iterations or so.
    //A

    Hi
For 1 iteration itself, runScript.bat command line execution is taking a lot of time than we execute from openscript editor. Have you got any solution for this...can you please share.
    Thanks

  • Very slow editing, playback sluggy even after render ...

I working on a movie, footage is mostly 1080p 50 fr. For the moment the movielenght on the timeline  is only 8 minutes and editing is becoming so hard because of the slowness of some tasks...
    I explain:
    1) At start up loading this latest project is slow
    2) Media asset pannel: thumbnails of footage is loading very slow when you go to another folder
    3) Pre-viewing of (a part of) the footage already added to the timeline (expertmode) is sluggy, but sometimes even when pre-rendering with the renderbutton is done (the render markers are correct placed) !
Also a crash op PE sometimes happens (but not so frequent)
Final rendering to a format (dvd, mp4 etc) works well but ofcourse it's difficult to make a good movie if pre-viewing of the timelinefootage is not working well ...
So my question is if I replace my internal (ram) memory in my pc from 8 GB to 16 GB, would this fix all this 3 problems ?
I have only 2 memory banks, now with 2x4 gb so I would have to buy 2x8 that's more than 100 euro (more than PE itselfs thus ...).
My pc works well for a recent game like Far Cry 3 so I don't need the memory for other programs ... So I want to be shure if this will fix it.
Finally, my config: PC has a small ssd with win 7 home premium and PE 11 dutch, all other data on traditional HD, separate ghraphics card:

    Run as Administrator http://forums.adobe.com/thread/969395
That's almost the same as right-click and runas admin, the only difference is that you don't have to right-click. The problem with this solution I mentioned above already:
windows acts than like you are the admin and the admin documentsfolderlocations is the standard instead of yours folderlocations (so all your footage, pictures and all data you want to use in your project should be than in the admin documentsfolders instead of your own user folder ....
Than it's better to change the useraccountpermission in admin, that's what I did now. So I'm working with an account with full adminrights now. That's not very safe but I want to give it a try for the time of the project-in-use . I've updated also the graphic and audio drivers.
    I've also disabled temporary AV.
All this didn't change anything for loading the thumbnails when you open a project. It still takes minutes to load and the first time after startup opening a subfolder in the assetspanel also takes again minutes (only the first time after startup, if you later go back in that subfolder thumbnails are showed almost directly).
Play-back of timeline seems almost ok now, but this was already yesterday the case (since the scratchlocations didn't change anymore)
In the manual I read that it is advised to defrag the scratchlocations from time to time. But win vista/7/8 have auto defrag ... ?

  • Very slow running CUITs in both Visual Studio and Microsoft Test Manager

I've tried the exact same test cases on another less powerful computer and it runs perfectly. However on one machine it runs very slow. It seems to take ages finding execute each step. Not sure what is going on. Help greatly appreciated.

    Hi Daithi,
Based on your issue, I suggest you could try to create a simple coded UI test such as you can record the Calculator action and then check if you still get the issue about
running CUITs very slow in VS.
In addition, I suggest you could try to delete all the temp files from your system and other temp files, or in short you can just log off and then log in back again....you'll definitely find your automation run faster.
There are two blogs shared us some suggestions to improve the coded UI test performance, I often use them, if possible, please check them.

  • Suddenly very slow export

Hi.  Basically, my export has gone very slow.  I will give what details I can, but the main thing here is that I am doing what I have always done, but suddenly it is going very slow.  I export to MPEG2 DVD as that goes straight onto a DVD without further render in my Sony DVD maker program.  Export in Premiere usually takes between 30 and 40 minutes. Latyest project is warning me of over 3 hours!  I thought I would ask here before waiting and seeing if it still works okay in case there is an obvious answer.  MPEG audio, multiplexer on, maximum mrender depth, CBR slider set to make a file that will be as large to preserve quality and still fit on a DVD (I go for around 4GB or just over)  Stick to CBR as the estimated file size is more accurate than messing about with VBR sliders.  Projects are standard definition, two video sources mixed (full DV) and separate sound source added and synchronised.  I film stage plays with two cameras.  Projects typically between one and a half and two and a half hours long.  This project is actually at the lower end.  No other obvious problems with the PC in general.  Is it worth a system restore?  It was fine for a project similar size rendered last week.  I am asking befoire i try system restore as they are getting hard to do.  They never seem to work unless I remove all my virus protection stuff!  CAn I think of anything different about this project?  Well, only that the venue I was filming in was not quite level, resulting in a bit of an angle that I corrected by tilting the film just a few degrees.  (Only affecting the part of the picture that would be off the TV screen) just to make the stage look level.  I often do this with a few shots from one of the cameras, but maybe not the whole film for both cameras like in this case.  I even tried pressing enter and doing that render thingy before export.  That did not help.  Maybe that is just to get something better in the preview window.  Normally it just takes around half an hour or just over.  Media player can be a bit crackly and choppy playing the rendered movie, but then it is always fine on the DVD so I just put that down to windows media playing being a bit rubbish and not important in my case.  Sorry if I have neglected to tell you anything important.  I usually get told off for this on this forum, but I have tried to give you details about the settings I am using.  The main thing is that I am only doing what I usually do.  If I was exporting to a different format I might expect a different time.  I can tell you that I got bored waiting and cancelled a few times before coming on here.  A couple of times the screen went very white and said windows would close the problemn and notify me of any solution.  Program closed but no useful information (I would not really have expected Windows to give me any!).  Maybe someone here can?   I suppose I had better wait for the three hours or more and at least see what comes out, but cant help being scared it will freeze at 37.34 percent and I will give up after waiting three weeks!  But any suggestions would be helpful.  Sorry not very tech-savvy so please keep it to plain English.  Thanks in advance

Without knowing your computer specs, hard to comment on how long an export ought to take. However, you said yourself that you may have applied rotation to much of the video, and perhaps that is slowing things down from normal.
Please check that your hard drives are defragged and are not getting more than 70-80% full as performance can quickly degrade. I would turn OFF the "Max Bit Depth" and "Max Render Quality" if being used. Should not be needed for DV clips going to DVD. As for pre-rendering the timeline, not recommended. This just adds another layer of compression (quality loss) to the final render, IF you check "Use Previews" in the Export area. If not using Previews, then it is all getting re-rendered anyways, so just a waste of time and drive space really, unless playback is so terrible that you want to render a section to check the results before exporting.
I notice you have MultiPlexing ON for the export - is that how the Sony DVD software wants it? Most authoring programs (like Encore) perform better with separate elements of audio and video, meaning the .wav and .m2v files. Reason being that the DVD program will usually be creating Dolby (AC3) audio for the final DVD, so if you feed it the raw elements, it can convert the .wav to .ac3 quickly, and will NOT need to transcode the video. If you Mux (combine) the audio and video, the audio has then been compressed to lossy MPEG audio, then the DVD software needs to separate the audio and video and re-encode them again in most cases. Not the best workflow. Unless your final DVD uses MPEG audio, but I'm not sure that is a legal part of the spec worldwide, is normally PCM or AC3 for player compatibility.
Not a big fan of anti-virus programs, have found many of the popular ones to really take over and bog down the system. Personally, I use and recommend the free solution of Microsoft Security Essentials. My computer, and those of my kids, have been virus-free the last couple of years since going to that solution, and I see no decrrease in performance and it runs in the background totally transparent to me.

  • PP CC Running Very Slow Once Clips Assembled

Here is a description of my problem, any guidance would be greatly appriciated.
I imported about 20 GB of 1024p, 24fps video from a Canon T3i, and about 1 GB of Audio from an H4N zoom mic for my current project. Everything ran smoothly when I was naming clips and synching audio. But once I chose the clips I wanted, and assembled them into scenes on the timeline (I'm making a 5 minute short with 6 scenes), playback became extreemly slow, and now it has now come to a virtual stop, as when I start the program, 5 minutes later, I still have a black project viewer.
I have had a similar problem with another project that had an hour of footage (from one clip) cut down to about 3 minutes.
    My System:
    Mac OS X 10.8 (dual-booted, running Mac)
    3.1 Ghz Intel Core i5
    4GB 1333 Mhz DDR3 Ram (expandable to 16GB)
AMD Radeon HD 6970M 1024 MB
1TB SATA Hardrive (Partitioned; Mac: 702 GB total, 120 GB free / Windows: 297 GB total, 235 GB free)
I suspect the problem might be my small ammount of RAM, but I wanted to check with some people online before I jumped and expanded my ram.  Or I also suspect that the problem might be the free storage space / total space ratio might be a little low on my Mac Partition (120 / 702).  As I said before, any guidance would be greatly appriciated.  Thanks.

Your processor is fine.  True, I would not build a system with less than i7 with 4-core/8-threads, but it seems the biggest bottleneck in your case is your lack of hard drive separation (but even that shouldn't cause the issue you've described).  Many will advocate all kinds of crazy hard drive configurations, but at the miniumum, when money is tight, you should have:
HDD1 (7200rpm or faster) running: System (Mac and Windows), Project Files
HDD2 (7200rpm or faster) running:  All Media Files (audio and video as well as rendered temp files, conform files, disk cache, etc)
So the very next thing I would purchase, in your situation, is an external 7200rpm drive with the fastest interface you can get (USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt).  Make SURE it's 7200rpm, mfgs like WD don't really tell you what's inside the casing.  I personally like external hard drive docks best.  The docks aren't so expensive, and the drives are much less expensive.  Plus you know exactly what drive you're getting when you purchase an "internal" drive and place it in your external dock.  Make sure to get a second drive for backing up your footage and projects.
Some will argue that 4GB of RAM is a huge bottleneck, and they're right.  Just keep in mind that Windows users like myself only get 4GB of performance (even in a 32GB system) when dealing with most Quicktime files (such as the T3i).  4GB RAM kind of sucks on big projects, but it's much more bearable than editing on your system drive.  Also, most of us were editing 5D mkII footage on dual-core systems well before the i5 came along (dual or quad).
One final thing:  Do you have hardware acceleration turned on?  The problem you describe doesn't sound right at all.  Also, do you have any Warp Stabilization applied to any/many clips?

  • AE CC ram previews very slow - no GPU support? Newbie trying to become not newbie, falling at first hurdle...

Hello. I'm currently trialling After Effects CC though Adobe Cloud. But I've hit a snag immediately.
I have an HD video edit in Premiere Pro which I want to dynamically import into AE to work on some bits.... I have imported the project file into AE, it seems to open just fine but the playback is intensely slow!
I have an uncertified GPU - a Nvidia Geforce gtx 460 - too old? I was expecting it to help out a bit, I'm not doing anything too badass, just colour correcting a bit of HD footage.
My processor is an i5 3.4ghz 4 core.
Perhaps I'm missing something fundamental here!? Please tell me what I'm completely failing to grasp
    Thank you for your time,
    Tony

Yup -- you're misssing a very basic item: AE doesn't work like Premiere Pro.  It's not anything like PP, and it doesn't behave like it.
One way is the method you need to  play video.  Space bars just don't work.  You need to do a RAM Preview -- hit the zero key on the numeric keypad, let AE render the frames it can, and then it plays them back as fast as it can.

iTunes sync is very slow with several minutes of the spinning color dot.  Usually happens during the last step (7) of the sync.  I then discover that even though I marked to sync all photos from Aperture file, photos are not synced.  iTunes seems to be getting more and more of a problem.  Any thoughts?

  • Editing 1080p footage very slow in PP CC

    Hi,
I have an Intel i3770K processor, with 32GB RAM, and a GTX 770 Card.
I'm actually having playback issues in PP with blackmagic footage in 1080p, it's very slow. Even footage from my Canon 70D, etc. when trying to edit all this footage is just not playing back well.
How do I know that my GTX 770 card is actually working in PP CC? Is there a way to check?
Also, is there a need to always encode all footage to a certain file type before editing?
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Mark

Also, is there a need to always encode all footage to a certain file type before editing?
    No.
Tell us about your hard drives. One drive isn't enough. That could be the bottleneck.
If your settings look like this, then you are getting all of the acceleration you can get (assuming you have not applied an effect that is not able to be accelerated:

    1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem.
    2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
    3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger on a public message board. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.
Here's a summary of what you need to do, if you choose to proceed: Copy a line of text from this web page into the window of another application. Wait for the script to run. It usually takes a few minutes. Then paste the results, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, wait, paste again. Details follow.
    4. You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken in “normal” mode. If the system is now in safe mode and works well enough in normal mode to run the test, restart as usual. If you can only test in safe mode, do that.
    5. If you have more than one user, and the one affected by the problem is not an administrator, then please run the test twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time is an administrator. If you can't log in as an administrator, test as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this section doesn’t apply. Don't log in as root.
    6. The script is a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, though you may not see all of it in the browser window, and you can then copy it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
    7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
    8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
    exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
    9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
    10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
    [Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
    11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
    12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.
Note: This is a public forum, and others may give you advice based on the results of the test. They speak only for themselves, and I don't necessarily agree with them.
