Playback of project strobes

I'm working my way through the Apple Motion book by Damien Allen and whilst doing the later exercises I've notice that I'm seeing a strobing effect on the playback where some of the final picure is missing. Has anybody else seen this before?
I'm using a Quad with 4Gig of ram and the standard 6600 graphics card, so I'm surprized that I'm seing this on a example exersize.
Also I'm hoping to take the Apple Certification from Motion but I notice that the book has no example questions. Has anybody else taken the exam and what should I expect to see by way of questions.

This was an effect that was created completely in Motion so I suspect it may be down to the limitations of my graphics card. Which make me wonder why it was used as an example in the book. It does'nt make a good impression if the examples in the book require more resource than the base graphic card of a quad.
I'll try recreating the exercise to check that I've not done something silly.

24P Playback and Project settings

I'm a Final Cut guy switching to Premiere Pro CS5.5 and have legacy files to edit. I"m trying to figure out the best project settings (Mac Based)
Bringing in Pro Res files 1920 x 1080, 24p. I have a Black Magic Decklink Studio with most current drivers.
I don't seem to see a project setting that allows me to run my video out to an external monitor on a 24p sequence. Now in Final Cut I can edit the 24p files on a 24p timeline and still playout thru the BMD card. I guess it does the pulldown. I assumed it would in PPro as well?
I can setup a project in CS5.5 at 29.97 but then my sequences need to be rendered.
I must be missing something but can't seen to get the right settings... Help!

Drop a clip onto the "new item" icon at the bottom of the project panel an Premiere will make the appropriate timeline for you.
Use playback setting to pick your external monitor and you should be set.

No audio playback on project

Hi,
I've just experienced something that has never happened before to me with logic. I'm on 8.02 by the way. I had just finished recording some audio tracks. I used the scissors tool to cut an audio region, moved part of that region using option-drag further down the track, returned the playhead to the start of the song, pressed play and got no audio at all, except for the playback coming through my external synth. No activity on any of the tracks except for the external synth. I unfroze all the frozen tracks and when I did that Ultrabeat started to play but nothing else. I used "revert to saved" and still got no audio from that project. All other logic files, and other audio applications work fine as do the earlier backups of the current project. All audio files in the bin will playback from the bin itself but not from the arrange window. Also none of the software instruments will playback in that project except for Ultrabeat. I can't figure out what I've done to cause this. Any help would be appreciated.

Actually I came to the same conclusion. I finally had a chance to try Time Machine's restore function. As it turned out Time Machine had backed up my system just before the problems started so I was able to get everything thing back just the way it was before I made the edit on the audio file. Sweet.

Unable to playback project in full screen

unable to playback imovie project in full screen. Full screen button and commandG both do not work.

If no one on this forum is able to step up, please repost on the iMovie forum. When you do it would be helpful to whoever is assisting to let them know the version of OS X installed on your machine and the version of iMovie being used. Without those basics people are simply guessing.

Projects Published to AC from Captivate 6 have playback issues.

My end users are begining to complain about poor video playback from projects I publish to Adobe Connect using Captivate 6 64-bit on Windows 7.
They claim that slides that contain a video will either 1. never completely load, or, 2. once they do load, playback very slowly and experience audio-video sync issues.
I have a feeling it's a question of user bandwidth as I can view the projects fine from my office as well as my home network.
I experience no problems with video playback at all, neither do many of my co-workers on the same network.
End users have mentioned similar problems with other projects as well.
This particular project has 4 separate slides that contain inbedded video.
Total Project length is 39 slides.
Table of Contents is turned "OFF".
Video Files are FLV.
Preview playback works just fine, problem only exists when viewed from Adobe Connect.
I will include as much information as I can. Here is a screenshot of the project file as it lives on Adobe Connect.

Can you please try and upload the published output to an LMS called SCORM CLOUD.
You can also create a free trial account on scorm cloud using the following steps:
1.     Browse to to the link https://cloud.scorm.com/sc/guest/SignUpForm
2.     Now Create your free trial account.
3.     Now publish the output in a zip format (in the form of SWF with reporting option enable)
4.     Now sign in into scorm cloud and upload the course and launch the output.
Please check and let us if it works fine.

I'm seeing a strobing effect during playback of clips and timeline in FCP7. How do I fix?

I'm seeing a strobing effect during playback of clips and the timeline in FCP7. Footage isn't corrupt. Apple techs said its not hardware after their tests at the Apple store. I did a full reinstall of FCS. There's 4GB of RAM free at all times during playback. The problem is still there... How do I fix this?
Strobing:
By strobing, I mean there's only about 1 ever 10 frames playing back for me. Everything is rendered and the comp settings match the clip settings. It's not constant though, but the strobing is triggered at certain points on the timeline and effect a few clips after that (10 seconds or so at a time), and then when the next clip is displayed on the timeline the strobbing stopps and is reset back to normal playback... until another random clip is encountered by the playback head to which then the process repeats. Also, when strobbing is happening and I move the playhead back a few seconds, or pause & play, or even forward a little on the same strobbing clip (basically when i inturrupt the playback process) the strobbing STOPS! I can watch the same footage that was strobing without it strobing any longer until I move back the playhead far enough and try again, then the strobing is triggered again. I hope this all makes sense, it's very picular and I've seen or heard of nothing like it in my 4 years of editing in FCP7.

SStrange my enough the problem started occurring a few hours into the project. The only thing I can think of is that I shot with all Canon 5D mark iii footage when I usually shot with a mark ii. My workflow hasn't changed and I have never had this problem. I've also used other mark iii footage in the past without a problem but I don think I've edited entirely with mark iii footage

Device driver error msg at startup-get white screen w/audio during playback

PE10 has been working fine until today.
Upon startup I get an error message saying my display driver is incompatible.
I checked the driver in Windows 7-it says the driver is up to date and working fine.
When playing back a video clip I'm editing in PE10, I get a white screen in the playback area with the correct audio. When I pause the playback, the video image appears. Play = white playback screen.
I have
-checked the display driver
-rolled my computer back to an earlier restore point
-uninstalled and reinstalled PE10
-turned off my firewall
Any other suggestions to try?

What version of Premiere Pro? Include the minor version number (e.g., Premiere Pro CS5.5 with the 5.5.2 update).

Review project without having to render

Good day everyone... I am a rookie still in diapers when it comes to After Effects... I am teaching myself from online videos on how to use it, and one thing I see on pretty much every tutorial is that a project is built, all effects are added and they are able to play it back to view how their project is going. Again I am new so I do not know the terminology, but when I create my project and hit the space bar on the timeline, it takes forever to play it once as if it is being rendered and then I can play normally. So the moment I make a little change, I have to do this procedure all over. Is this the normal process or is there a faster way to playback ones project to see how it is flowing? Any help or info appreciated. Thanks

Don't use the spacebar. Use RAM preview. See "Preview video and audio".
But, yes, to perview your composition, After Effects does have to render the frames. If you make a change, it has to render the frames again. There are a lot of tips for speeding things up here: "Improve performance"
If you're new to After Effects, I strongly recommend that you start here: "Getting started with After Effects". It really helps if you start with these basics, if only because it gives you the terminology to ask questions here.

Premiere pro won't playback

Guys,
I've got a problem with premiere, when i start it, the source monitor is white and it wont playback my project. And after a couple of seconds premiere is not responding anymore and quits. I've tried to close the source monitor but still won't playback...
Starting a new project is not solving te problem.
Reinstalling premiere doesn't either.
Any ideas???

The "white screen" is a classic result of an obsolete video driver.
Let's get that one out of the way first. What is the make/model of your video card?
What is the number/date of the installed video driver?
Is that the latest driver FROM the mfgr's. Web site, say nVidia, or ATI/AMD? Do not rely on the OS, or any utility to tell you if you have the latest driver - check that out for yourself.

Color correction flickering in playback

when I playback the project in fcp sent from color, there is flickering in the color in some parts of the timeline.
Here's what I did:
- From FCP I sent a sequence to Color using using ''send to color''.
- graded the clips in Color and sent it back to FCP using ''send to Final Cut Pro''
& What happens is when I playback the sequence in Final Cut Pro, there is flickering in the color (turns rapidly lighter and darker) of clips throughout the timeline. The flickering gets worse when I export from FCP to a .mov file.
Can anyone please help?

IMovie projects choppy with 23" display

I just added a 23" Cinema Display. I've noticed that the playback quality of my iMovie projects have become choppy since the monitor was installed. Audio also drops out in spots. (Actual video and audio is okay; problem only exists in playback.) Projects play fine on other computers. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, is there a solution?

You may want to set your iMovie Preferences, under their 'Playback' tab, to Standard, rather that High or Highest.
Cinema displays are designed to give the best possible visuals, but that can use up a lot of Mac processor effort, whereas you really want the effort to go into correctly grabbing all the relevant bits from your hard disc, both video and audio, and making do with 'acceptable' presentation on the monitor.
(..Though one would have thought that a dual processor 2GHz should be able to keep up with handling the video + audio files and being able to provide a good screen display..)
Karl may give some relevant advice, as he has a cinema display.
Maybe post this query with his name in the Topic, e.g; "Karl - 23" Cinema Display choppy", for example..?

I Can Not Change My Video Rendering and Playback Setting...

Normally you should be able to change the "Video rendering and playback" in Project Settings to "Mercury Playback Engine GPU Acceleration", if you're using a some what high-end system... But when I go to the Project Settings, the bar is grey and I can't select anything, all I see is "Mercury Playback Engine Software Only" in grey. I have a HP Pavilion dv8 laptop, with NVIDIA GeForce GT 230M. How can I fix this situation?

Here is a LIST of SUPPORTED VIDEO CARDS. Now, the list might have grown a bit, by now, so I am not sure that this is 100% inclusive today.

Project Panel or Sequence Panel Not working CS6

Just purchased a new laptop and put CS6 on it. First time I went to use it, I couldn't get the playback or project panel to work right (far right panel with default settings) I'm thinking it is a bug and need to re - download it but thought there might be a chance that I have something messed up or there was a way to fix it. It basically Just acts like it isn't rendered or the computer is really bogged down (which isnt the case) It is Windows 8 if that makes a difference.

Can anyone help with this? I tried re-downloading premiere pro with the same results.
System:
Intel Core i7 -3630QM
Nvidia GTX 670MX
RAM: DDRIII 12GB
HDD: 750GB, but I run off of an external 3TB drive
When I scrub through the timeline it shows everything in the playback panel, but doesn't work when I play it. I have CS5.5 on another laptop that is the exact same and havent had any problems whatsoever. I also find it hard to believe that the system isn't up to snuff because I just rendered 3 400 shot RAW timelapses shot on a full frame Nikon D600 in After Effects with no problems.

No playback at all in program monitor PPro CS 4

Hi all,
I'm new to this and I'm not an expert with computers neither, so please excuse any incorrect terms and the like. Here's the problem: Premiere CS 4 (4.0.0) all of a sudden stopped playbacking my project. All clips, audio and video, do run in the source monitor, but NO action at all, not a single frame, in the program monitor. When moving the CTI / cursor thing around the timeline, I don't get any audio. Same when exporting, which went well before: I do get the video, but no audio. Again, all audio clips work in the source monitor. Im running Premiere on Windows XP. I already talked to the technical support. After resetting preferences, which didn't help, the guy suggested to create a new sequence. Here's the funny thing: If I only drag a limited number of clips into the new sequence, I do get playback, audio and video. As soon as I drag all of the clips into the sequence, I face the same problem as before: no playback, no audio. All of the clips have been there before the problem arose, so I guess it can't be just certain clips that cause the problem.
Has anyone got any idea what could be done about this? Right now, I can't work on my project which is extremely frustrating as I've been working on it for months and am very close to finishing it.
