Playback screen flickers on dual screen setup

I currently have speedgrade set up to extend the playback display to the second monitor. It all works fine until I try to apply a mask, as clicking on the playback screen to move a mask will cause the screen to flicker black. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue/know a fix?

You didin't specify which Sg version, nor computer data, which would be exceedingly useful to make an intelligent reply. That said, playback with masks is for some a problem with the current 'release' of the CC Speedgrade, one Adobe is aware of and is working on. We're all hoping the next release due out soon (they've a big announcement thing scheduled for the 18th) will take care of these issues. Depending on your computer specs, the codecs involved, and how much grading/fx work is already on a clip masking can at times really through the processing 'chain' for a loop. Requiring lowered playback resolution and that sort of thing.

    Hello,
I recently installed Premiere Pro CS6 in my PC. Then after I set up dual monitor in the Preference, the screens of both the monitor started to flicker until I stop the playback. Previously I used same hardware with CS5 but there were no problem.

  • How do I play a video in full-screen mode on one screen of a dual-screen Windows 7 system without blanking out the other screen?

How do I play a video in full-screen mode on one screen of a dual-screen Windows 7 system without blanking out the other screen?  Not losing the other screen would be useful as I would like to, for example, monitor my emails whilst watching a video or to work on a project whilst watching an instructional video.
Note : Resizing a window to fill the screen is not acceptable as it still leaves unsightly borders.

  • How to darken only one screen in a dual screen setup ??

    Hi All,
I have a dual screen set-up probably like many of you and sometimes I prefer to use LR only on 1 screen. That allows me to work on Photoshop or read my emails or whatever else I'd prefer to do on the other screen. My dilemma is when in Lightroom & I press the letter L to darken the screen around my image, for better viewing, it also darkens the other screen that I'm working with. Is there a way to prevent both screens from darkening?? Thanks Ron
PS: Apologies if this has been addressed previously as I could not locate it

Thank you digitaldog, I didn't think so either

  • Full screen mode with dual screen

I have a Macbook Pro and use a second screen. I do like the new full screen feature but the app (safari, chrome, opera, firefox etc...) will only full screen with the primary screen (macbook screen). Really defeats the point of having two screens and having the full screen feature combined.
Any resolutions or is there a new update coming?
    In Summary:
Full screen mode will only work on your primary monitor  and not a separate screen. Please help.

Hopefully, it'll be fixed in a future update.

  • X11 on a single screen in a dual monitor setup

Same problem as posed here: http://discussions.info.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=2260647&tstart=0
I was excited when I read the following:
I fiddled with Apple's X11, which I'd installed on my Desktop, to no avail. Nowhere could I disable the screen-spanning behavior. On a hunch, I decided to try out XDarwin, however, and lo and behold --- a checkbox for enabling/disabling Xinerama! In addition, XDarwin seems to be better behaved than Apple's X11 when it comes to correctly sourcing some of my $HOME/.X* configuration files (e.g., I always had to run xmodmap ~/.Xmodmap manually under X11, even after putting the command in my .xinitrc).
I only ever use Xquartz(currently XQuartz 2.6.0 (xorg-server 1.9.3)) which is Xdarwin now. But I do not see the mentioned checkbox for enabling/disabling Xinerama.
Which sounds exactly like what I want to do. I want to have my macbook air(mba) to display full screen Xquartz on external 27" Dell monitor only. On the macbook screen I want to show the OSX desktop with open applications not blacked out by X11.
Any pointers to this checkbox's location would be great. Or any other way to configure this setup would also be good.
I'm not looking for solutions that keep the laptop monitor off in any way as I have seen suggested many times. This is because I want to use it to view state of other OS X apps on the macbook screen while working in full screen X session on the external monitor.
The xnest solution sounds inferior for the same reasons pointed out by Michael C. Lee in the post I mentioned above.

    Hi Andy,
    I really appreciate your help!
I believe you're correct in that I wouldn't be able to start the X server and have it only produce output on one of my monitors, as they are necessarily part of a single "display" (in OS X, at least). Barring that, however, I wanted to be able to at least keep X11 from creating a single screen that spanned both my monitors (the problem with this is that it doesn't recognize the separate monitor geometries, so large chunks of the virtual spanning screen were inaccessible, and it also made dealing with X apps that are none dual-head friendly a pain). On my linux machine, I was able to get this behavior by default (i.e., separate screens named '.0 and .1' under a single X display), and could get monitor spanning only after enabling the Xinerama extension.
Anyway, that basically gave me what I needed, so I'm a happy camper. Just thought I'd post this in the unlikely event that someone else is in the same situation. Oh, and if you're curious, the reason I needed to do this in the first place was because I wanted to run the ratpoison windows manager fullscreen --- great for dealing with ADD!

  • Single screen KVM with dual screen setup

So here's the deal. I have dual 20" cinema displays hooked up to my Quad. I took one of the displays and hooked it up to my IOGear DVI KVM (http://www.iogear.com/main.php?loc=product&Item=GCS1764) so that that display could be shared with my Powerbook G4 and my Core Duo MacMini. However, when I change ports on the KVM, the secondary display "disappears" from the PowerMac and it starts freaking out. Sometimes it will just try to detect the screen (constant signal flickering) for a minute and then give up and operate as a single screen system but most of the time it tries to detect the screen for 2+ minutes until it just crashes the whole computer and then I have to reboot the PowerMac.
    Any ideas?

Removing pin 16 on the DVI cable to the PoweMac might help. See the last item in: <http://www.gefen.com/kvm/support/faq/>

  • [AwesomeWM] Applications locked to one screen in a dual monitor setup

Perhaps the title should be "Multiple Screens with multiple video cards." I imagine  my confusion here is the reason I am unable to move clients from one screen to the other in awesome. Though the cursor moves fluidly between Screen1 and 2,  MOD4+drag traps the cursor and the client on the current screen. MOD4+o brings the cursor to the upper left corner of the current screen. Openbox and fluxbox are similarly limited.
With my Xorg.conf I have $DISPLAY as :0.0 or :0.1 depending on which screen the terminal is open.
The closest I've come to a solution is xpra from the parti-all aur package. But, I haven't found a way to make it useful. I'm hoping there is an alternative configuration. Maybe something like xinerama or Zaphod?
I'd like to use xrandr but it seems thats a no go for multiple boards as of the the previous version. I cannot find documentation for 1.3.
http://wiki.debian.org/XStrikeForce/HowToRandR12 wrote:VI.5. Multi-board support broken - RandR 1.2 does not support multiple boards yet (it's planned for RandR 1.3). It means that any RandR 1.2 aware driver will crash the server if you have 2 boards. Even one board with a RandR 1.2 driver and another board with a classic driver does not work. It just crashes the X server.

Err. My confusion is indeed the culprit. For anyone who might find themselves in a similar situation the nomenclature is as follows.
"Zaphod mode" on wikipedia is listed as a multi-seat configuration, however, I think it more often describes the set up in my posted xorg.conf. That is, the server has two independent screens associated with their respective device. Titling window managers seem to present multiple screens a la Zaphod. At least in awesome, each screen has its own set of tags.  Xinerama is a soon to be deprecated extension merging multiple physical displays into a singular virtual one. It will be replaced with RandR. But, as of the current version of RandR, multi-board setups are not supported.
ATI and nVidia have proprietary implementations for multi-head configurations (Big Desktop and Twinview respectively). I assumed both cards would have to be same brand and either ATI or nv. So, I didn't look into this.
By the nature of Zaphod mode, applications exist only on one screen. They cannot easily be moved. Because the Xinerama extension implements one large virtual display, X clients can be displayed anywhere. This is apparently at the cost of direct rendering on both screens. Xinerama is also limited in that all screens have to have the same depth.
Having the Zaphod mode xorg config, enabling Xinerama just requires one line in the ServerLayout section:
    Section "ServerLayout"
    Option "Xinerama" "on"
However, if the resolution differs on the screens, screens with lower resolutions will have "dead space" where the rectangle of the virtual resolution is not displayed by the physical resolution of a screen.  Moving the cursor into this area will pan the screen to show the previously hidden area and hiding what was previously visible. This means an application fullscreened on the screen with the lower resolution will never be completely visible.
To enforce physical resolutions in the virtual screen also only requires one line. In the display subsection of the lower resolution screen section, setting the virtual display to the same as the mode will remove the dead area.
    Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen1"
    SubSection "Display"
    Modes "1280x1024"
    Virtual 1280 1024
    EndSubSection
Please reply if I've gotten anything wrong!

  • Screen Flickering while using screen

I am using tilda in openbox.
Until I enabled "Double Buffering" in tilda, I was facing the same flickering issue in tilda too. By flickering, I mean that suppose I open a frest terminal in that & then I press BACKSPACE, I get a flicker in screen window.
I have tried opening screen in gnome-terminal too, same problem.
I really want to use screen as complete replacement to tabs, but this flickering issue is holding me back. Any solution?

  • Macbook pro screen flickering brightness/black screen?

on saturday night I was using my MacBook pro and drinking water when my friend made me laugh so I accidentally spit like 5 drops of water onto my macbook screen. the drops leaking down into the base, not exactly the keyboard but just right under the screen where it would drip down. a instantly got a towel and dried it off but the macbooks screen statted flickering off and on. then it went permanently black but it seemed like it was still on. I tried to hold down the power button and it would make all the on and off noises just the screen wouldn't work. it would maybe flash for a second but then just go dark. I made the mistake of not turning it completely off when it first happened because I didn't know what to do but after maybe 10 minutes I turned it off and opened it up and kept it upside down the whole night to let the water come out if there was any. the next day around 12pm I turned it on and everything was working completely fine. no problems or signs that eer spit the water. then the next day (Monday) half way thru the day I was watching Netflix and I noticed every 5 minutes or so the screen would dim no matter what brightness I had it on and after a couple seconds it would go back to regular brightness. after like an hour it started doing that more frequently and it gave a black screen until I moved the cursor. I paniced and shut it off for the rest of day thinking it would be better the next day. well the next day (today) I turned it on and it was even worse. it's almost like the screen is having spaz attacks every 2 minutes. it'll go dim or bright randomly and then go black until I move the cursor and when it gowa dim there's these weird bright lights things coming from the bottom of the screen. but other then that the macbook works completely fine. iit's still usable, and the screen spasms are annoying but I could live with them. but first I want to make sure it's not going to get worse and worse everyday and just permantly die soon. im only 15 and Ive been dreading telling my parents what happened but if i have to replace something I have to tell them. I've tried researching what I have to replace but no one has my exact symptoms. I think I'd either have to replace the Lcd (whatever that is??) or the inverter. someone please help, thank you!!

  • TS3232 I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have screen flickering issues

I have the mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter firmware 1.03 and I still have massive screen flickering issues on a Mac Mini 2012.
I am using a Dell 30" monitor (it's the Samsung screen just rebranded) connected to a WD 4TB Thunderbolt drive connected to the Mac Mini.
The screen is usable for the most part when I've just started the computer (although today I started having issues after a fresh restart) but if even just the screen goes to sleep, or the computer goes to sleep and I wake it later, I start to have massive flickering to black and occasionally to snow.
The effect seems to be more likely to arise when I'm on heavy graphics-intensive websites or programs (eg, Tumblr feed with lots of GIF images or working in Adobe Premiere), but once it starts shutting down those programs has no effect, the screen keeps flickering wildly.
The problem improved after the 1.03 firmware upgrade (for a while it was flickering uncontrollably ALL the time and was virtually unusable) but it has not gone away.
Any suggestions would be very welcome, either for how to fix this issue or how to get Apple to, you know, let me TELL THEM that their adapter firmware fix has NOT solved the issue, since my phone support has expired. :/

I have a new Mini DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter to allow my original Apple 30" Cinema Display to connect to the new Mac Pro.  Shipped straight from Apple, it is firmware version 1.03.  I've never had flickering issues, but the display will often go black (possibly after a screen power save) and not come back.  when this happens I am still able to connect to and use the Mac via remote connection.  But the only way to get the screen back is either to unplug the adapter and plug it back in to the Mac, or to shut down and power up the Mac.  This may be a separate issue, so I'll also post it standalone...

  • Dual-monitor setup + screen rotation

Hello, I want to use my desktop computer with a dual-monitor setup. I have connected both monitors successfully, but problems arise after this point.
The first problem is that they both just display the same screen and that xrandr only detects one screen called "Screen 0". I can change the screen resolution with it, so at least it sees things correctly, but I don't know how to extend my screen area to a new desktop. Not sure if this is relevant, but they're both monitors of the same model.

  • X crashes on startup with AMD dual screen setup

Ever since I bought my AMD Kaveri A10-7850K at the end of January last year I've been having trouble getting a dual screen setup to work properly. Initially I put this down to poor beta drivers, and as I had far too much going on to investigate the issue further beyond some fiddling with xorg.conf, I bought an AMD A4-4000 as a temporary solution while waiting for the Catalyst drivers to catch up.
In June last year I decided to give my A10-7850K another go, assuming that the Catalyst driver would have matured enough in the meantime to cater for the Kaveri processors. Unfortunately the situation was still the same, and I I didn't have the time nor want to be swapping processors all constantly to I decided to just give up on a dual monitor setup for the time being.
After many years of using two screens, however, it is very hard to get used to a single monitor again, and as January is a quiet month for me I decided today to have another at getting it to work properly.
    My setup is as follows:
an LG LG 23EA63V connected via HDMI as my main monitor at 1920x1080
a Viewsonic VP-171b connected via DVI as my secondary monitor at 1280x1024
    AMD A10-7850K APU
Catalyst 14.12-1 drivers installed from Vi0l0's repo
Xorg 1.15 installed from Vi0l0's repo
    KDE 4.14.3 using kwin
    KDM is launched using kdm.service
    KMS disabled via nomodeset
fglrx module loaded on boot via cat /etc/modules-load.d/catalyst.conf
    Tear free rendering enabled
After plugging in my secondary monitor configuring it in amdcccle to be to the right of my primary moniotor in multi-display desktop mode, everything works correctly. This even works in my preferred setup where the secondary monitor is rotated into portrait mode, although I currently have not configured rotation so as to not overcomplicate the troubleshooting.
Upon rebooting, however, X hangs with a static white cursor in the top left hand of both screens, which after a while disappears completely. I then have to unplug the secondary (DVI) monitor and hard reset the PC before I can boot into my desktop again. The bizarre thing is though that when I plug in my secondary monitor again and configure it as desired, either through amdcccle or krandr, everything works perfectly again.
This is, of course, an incredibly cumbersome way of working, especially when most of the time I forget to disconnect my DVI monitor prior to turning on my PC, hence me just making do with a single monitor for the past 7 months.
I did a complete fresh install of Catalyst yesterday (uninstall drivers, delete remaining config files, reinstall drivers from repo), to no avail.

I'm quite desperate to get this working, almost a year after buying my new setup, so any pointers are welcome!
    Thanks in advance!

Actually of the above listed commands only xclock is in xorg-apps .
    pacman -S xorg-apps xorg-twm xterm
    is needed.
