Playback skips 36 minutes from start

I recorded an audio segment using Quicktime Pro via a firewire connection. The entire segment was 220 minutes in length. When I play the file back on Quicktime it appears to have lost the first 36 minutes, but the length of the file reflects the entire 220 minutes.
I suspect the audio is in the file, but for some reason Quicktime thinks it's only 184 minutes long and starts 36 minutes into the session. I know that the file size reflects 220 minutes because I made a test recording 6 minutes in length, and the file size of the 6 minute file in MBytes/minute correlates to what would be expected in the 220 minute file.
Has anyone heard of a similar situation and a way to recover the audio?

Having played a bunch of mp3s over the last day without any similar problems it looks like a bug resuming playback of apple lossless format files.

After 1 year of using my IdeaPad U550 without a problem, I experienced the folowing problem: touchpad is freezing after about 1 minute from power on. Also if i want to use an external mouse the same thing happens. I tried using the OneKey Rescue system option to return to the original factory status but I couldn't because the mouse isn't working.
I noticed that the 1 minute window of using the mouse is no longer available if I do a quick restart. I had to power off for a couple of hours to make the mouse work again for 1 minute.

try to un-install drivers, restart your computer and let windows install the drivers automatically.

After starting, Mail answers are very very slow. The same for Note. Instead of, sending mails is only a bit slower than before upgrading.
In Safari, I choose Goggle as starting page in Preferences, but at every restart misses that starting page and the search strip says "Seek Google or instert an address".

i just want to mention that the samw thing was happening also for the notes and the reminders apps!! (they quit unexpectedly!!).

You may need to do a Restore in iTunes.
Clicking sounds from an iPod that has a hard drive is probably not a good thing. It is possible that your iPod's hard drive is becoming unreliable.

Thanks for the tip. I took the following steps:
1) Backed up the existing profile (presumably corrupted somewhere);
2) Deleted the existing profile;
3) Moved the existing Firefox to the Trash and downloaded a fresh copy;
4) Started Firefox (thus allowing it to create its default profile)
5) Copied the following files from the backup copy of the previous profile: places.sqlite, key3.db, signons.sqlite, permissions.sqlite, persdict.dat, cert8.db ---

HT1349 I downloaded the latest version of iTunes and now I cannot play the songs in order, they skip around randomly. The shuffle feature is off. All I really want to do is play an album from start to finish.

Javascript (in Firefox 3) takes several minutes to start working when computer wakes from sleep, Mac OSX 10.5.8

Whenever I wake my Mac from sleep, with Firefox having been left running, some parts of Firefox take several minutes to start working again. These include switching between open tabs and any website functionality that uses javascript, eg gmail. This has gone on through many updates of Firefox. If I quit Firefox immediately on waking the Mac and restart it, everything is OK.

Solution: I downloaded Firefox 3.5.10, installed it on my desktop and opened it, tried print preview and it worked, quit Firefox 3.5.10 and ran 3.6.6 and voila! print preview is working fine and I can save to pdf fine.

[SOLVED] Cron Job that starts every 30 minutes from boot

I wish to have a cron job that runs a script every 30 minutes from boot, without any users logging in.
I know about crontab -e, but I think that would I only run once i'm logged in. I've also heard about @reboot, but that would only run the script once.

Cron jobs will run whenever the system is up, regardless of whether or not anyone is logged in.
I don't remember the syntax, but I know that at least some cron implementations have a way to run a job every 30 minutes, starting for the first time 30 minutes after reboot.
EDIT: I just checked the syntax for fcron, which is what I use, and it seems like doing @ 30 your/command/here will make it run every 30 minutes of uptime.

Itunes CD Playback skipping

Here is the problem...
I can't playback or rip songs from a CD using Itunes. When I play a song from a CD using itunes the songs starts out and quickly degrades into a static skipping mess. Now, my original thought was dirty CD- CD plays on other players fine. Next, I thought it had to be the CD drive-The playback is perfect on windows media player and I can rip things from there too, without a problem.
I've searched itunes options for any settings that i thought would help, and nothing seems to do it. And i've messed with the audio settings on my computer (hardware acceleration stuff and quicktime settings)
Oh, and i have the most recent itunes, directx, and the cd drive is updated.
I have no idea what to do, any suggestions?

How to make Playback automatically reset transport to start at patch change?

I am working with some stage tracks in MainStage. We currently use Digital Performer and are wanting to move over to Apple.
I want to be able to know that whenever I open a patch in my set that it will always recall the transport position to start. I know that I can do this within the Playback plugin and change the "Play From" parameter to "Start". However, when we are rehearsing, I want to be able to always start from wherever we are in the song. For example, I want to still be able to start at Chorus 2 - I don't want it to always begin playing from the start.
However, I want to reiterate my point: When I move from patch to patch, I want it always cued to the start of the track. Is this possible?
One last thing, is there a way for me to choose a particular measure that I want the track to start playing back at for rehearsal purposes? For example, maybe I don't want to play the whole Chorus 2 which starts at measure 40, maybe I want to just start in the middle at measure 47? How do I control that?
If you need any clarity on my question, please let me know?
As of now, I am just not clearly seeing MainStage as a viable alternative to Digital Performer.

The good news is, you can do ALL of this.
Not sure if you have experimented with "play from relative position"
I highly recommend you try this out. As long as you are following a click of sorts, MS "transport" is still in play mode the PB will continue according to how many bars you are ahead in the song.
Also, in any Wave/AIFF you load into the Playback, you can place MARKERS.
You can set the PB to always start at a certain marker, and also, to skip ahead and back between those markers.
To make markers, you can use Quicktime, Peak, Apple Loop Utility, Logic and most likely DP.
Once those markers are embedded into the file, you can assign a MIDI command, or a keyboard command to skip ahead and back.
Playback not playing back from the start: Say what?!
I have a sneaking suspicion that part of your issue might be that you are incorrectly using the "Set" and "Patch" in the MS heirchy.
If you put a PB into a "Set" and select "Play from Start" it will do this.
It is an easy mistake to make: every set needs a patch, so you accidentally go into the patch and make adjustments, not realizing that ALL adjustments must be made from a "SET".
It's only a guess, but its the only reason I can think of as to why your songs/loops are not starting from the beginning.
Keep me posted, and let me know how it works.

Try these two steps first.
Get the Original Installation disk and boot the MBP holding down the C key. When you get to the point where you see a menu bar on the top of the display, select UTILITIES. From the drop down menu select DISK UTILITY>FIRST AID. Run verify and repair.
See if there is any improvement.

This might indicate that third party applications are an issue.

Why won't iTunes just PLAY an album, in order, from start to finish?!

Very confused....I can't get an album to play through iTunes on my Mac anymore. It used to work just fine but now, no matter what I try, every time I try to play an album iTunes just picks one song at random from the album and plays that. It won't move on to the next one, even if I try to press the button to skip to the next track. It always seems to play the same track and won't let me do anything!
It's really annoying and I can't see what is different from before I downloaded the latest version of iTunes. Getting thoroughly disheartend with iTunes lately; wish I had never bothered downloading the latest version-it's horrible!
Can anyone out there help with a straight forward and not-too-technical explanation to help me to be able to play an album, from start to finish , in the order it was made without having to mess about? I am not used to the whole "Apple" way of working yet- previously had a PC with Windows Media Player which worked really easily. iTunes is infuriating me so far!

Open iTunes and go to View>Show Sidebar and View>Show Status Bar. This will make the new version appear more like earlier versions. Then go to the Controls menu at the top, choose Shuffle and click "Turn Off Shuffle" (if it shows this).

The start chapter button is a play the whole movie button regardless of how many other markers you have.
Once a DVD starts playing it continues to the end.
Chapters marker simply gives the viewer a place to start playback whether it be the start, middle or near the end.

Firefox 3.6.3 segfaults between 10 seconds and 1 minute after starting

Yesterday, some of my addons updated (I can't remember which). Everything was fine until about an hour ago firefox segfaulted (with three windows and ~90 tabs it does this occasionally).
Now, firefox segfaults between 10 seconds and 1 minute after starting to load. Even with no restored session - just the moz homepage as the single tab, even in safemode.
I'm using firefox 3.6.3 on an AMD-64 machine running Kubuntu Jaunty (9.04) KDE3 version.

I don't know how to find all but includes past modern theme, googlebar, en.gb dictionary (recently installed), session manager, tab mix plus, character identifier, flash and realplayer plugins, super drag and go (I think), add bookmark here (possibly)

Going back to a profile backup from two days ago has seemingly worked, implying that the problem was the new en-GB language pack so I'll have find out where to report a bug on that.
This can be marked as solved now by anyone who knows how.
