Playback stutter when animating or keyframing text clip in second video layer

Hi,
I keep getting some nasty stuttering (black strobing/flashes, nasty skinny silver horizontal lines) whenever I add a simple text on the the 2nd video layer. It happens only when I animate/keyframe the text clip, like adjusting the opacity on the front and back end of the clip to simulate a fade-in/out. It also happens if I add a video transition to the text clip, like a flash, for example. I'm using the new 2014 Premiere Pro CC, but it also happens on the version before that, I've tried both. I've also restarting multiple times. I'm on a brand new 2013 Mac Pro, so video card is not the issue. Anyone else seeing anything like this? Super frustrating and equally as annoying, since it's the SIMPLEST edit. Nothing complicated, just adding text to corporate video shot on a Canon C300 (which I transcoded to MPEG-2). It also happens if I use the raw Canon footage, so I've ruled that out too.

Please give the exact specifications of the media you're editing and of the sequence you're editing into. Also, what preset do you currently have selected in FCP?

Rendering subtitles as text clips filling still cache?

Hi,
I have subtitles in project. Subtitles are made as text clips then placed above video track in timeline. At some point, they require rending everytime I add one, then render line is purple rather than green. Also, on playback in the timeline, there is stutter when it gets to the clips which are purple. If I remove the subtitle track, the stutter goes away. I got a message that still cache needs to be increased. I did this by reducing the %, which does move the point at which the render line is purple out further on the timeline. This is behaving like something is full, but I don't know what the still cache is, and don't know what the % refers to. The only thing I can think of is that I have a bunch of projects saved, and that there is a cache where text files are stored as stills, and its full. I will trash my unneeded projects to see if that helps. Please advise. Thanks!

I hope your media isn't on the laptop's internal hard drive. If it is, time to get an external firewire drive *right now*.
Regarding the rendering, this is just the way it's going to go given your computer and using external files.
Try setting the RT to unlimited and the quality to low. The images won't be beautiful but it should tell you how things flow. If you want to not render text material, try the internal text generators.

Judder/Stutter when watching only live sports...goes away if you rewind the DVR and playback...HELP!

I get this weird judder/stutter when watching live sports. It only happens about 3-5 times a live game. I have done everything under the sun to fix this issue. Cannot figure out why it does it. It almost looks like the broadcast buffers for a split second or the signal drops. Movies, TV shows, video games, blu rays, 3D all look perfect. Here is my troubleshooting list:
-Exchanged TV (Samsung 240hz 3D LED TV)
-New coax cables ran through the house.
-Adjusted every setting on the STB
-Adjusted every setting on the TV
-Tried new splitters
-New HDMI cables
-Switched the cable box with the one upstairs.
-Tried every HDMI port
-Tried Component cables.
If I plug directly into the TV with the coax cabe PROBLEM SOLVED. No judder/stutter. Once I go back into the STB the problem starts again. Also if I rewind the DVR and playback the broadcast the judder/stutter is also gone.
Please help before I pull whats left of my hair out!

Bugged audio playback? When I start working with more than 1 audio track.

I have been using premiere elements 12 for editing FullHD videos.
Brand new for me just bought it like 2 weeks ago.
Now during the last couple weeks I have had this MAJOR proglem with editing the audio.
This problem is headache and turns my simple editing into almost impossibilites.
I have had this problem with all my projects. _ALL_
Usually the problem seems to appear when I want to start working with several audio tracks.
At somepoint my projects just get ruined, I simply cannot hear the audio tracks.
The audio starts to disapear randomly from all the audio tracks.
It is not only playback problem. When I exported the video, the audio was partly missing, same as the project.
I have tried to look help on forums and search all what I could find, but havent been able to solve this.
Small fix has slightly helped:
I export audio to single track and bring it back to project. This works but I still usually have more editing to do.
I simply cannot understand why the playback disapears, I fear it is a bug.
I found lot of earlier version problems on people with similar type of problems, but no help for this version of program.
To solve the matter I have changed my audio setting in PE12.
Tried Premiere Elements WDM Sound and ASIO4ALL V2, but same problem on both.
I have looked up that my audio playback device and PE12 matches, and are not muted, and volumes maxed.
I have deleted my C:\ appdata\roaming\adobe premiere elements & premiere elements 12 folder preferences.. not helping..
I press the update pretty much everyday hoping for new version.. But yes, program keeps telling me its the latest.
I usually only work with 3 audio track maxinum. And I am doing really the most basic stuff here..
I have set all my audios to foreground and it has given me best results, but it does not seem to take the problem away as at somepoint randomly my audio playback is missing again, randomly across the playback.
Please anyone? I am feeling hopeless here.

Recording program: dxtory
codec: Lagarith Lossless codec
Format: avi
Frame width: 1920
Frame height: 1080
Data rate: 1990656kbps
total bit rate 1992192kbps
Frame rate 30/frames/seccond
Audio of video properties:
Codec: PCM
Format: 16bit, stereo
Bit rate: 1536kbps
Channels: 2(stereo)
Audio sample rate 48 kHz
In addition to that I use wav files for music and narrate
Music files sizes 20-50mb
bit rate: ~1411kbps
In total sizes of audio involved is usually something like 300mb
What are you or the program setting as the project preset in the new project dialog. See Edit Menu/Project Settings/General and its Editing Mode, Timebase, and Frame Size readings.
I opened new project and this is what i got:
Editing mode: HD 1080i
Timebase: 25,00 frames/second
Frame size: 1920 x1080
Audio is 48000 Hz
(I dont know how to change these, btw. Program don't seem to let me change editing mode.
I also looked up my most recent project and found these settings:
Editing Mode: DSLR
Timebase: 30,00 frames/second
Frame size: 1920 x1080
..and same audio settings
Do the problems persist if you start a new project? Do you find the audio problems develop when the Timeline content is fairly well developed or can the problems occur when there a minimal amount of content of those tracks? Let us look at the size and duration of this project.
Yes, I have had this problem with all my projects. Sometimes it goes away tho, just enough for me to work bit more. My work progress usually starts by clipping the video material, like 1h material to 8minutes in clips. After that I want to work with audio tracks, and here problems start! When I start working with more than 1 track, so the problem is at later stage. To fix the problem a small fix I have used, I export audio like music and effects tracks together to 1 wav and bring it back. After that, I start working with narrate track. To describe the problem with audio:
Audio Randomly starts to disapear when I playback, and can also be gone if I export the video out.
My source videos total size are usually within 80Gb max limit and audio edit material 300mb total.
In my last project my biggest source video was 47GB and leingth of 1h 4m, in addition to that I had 3 smaller videos, sizes of 1GB, 1,54GB and 300MB.
Is there any evidence that you are accidentially moving the audio track rubberband to alter the audio volume. That rubberband is the orange line that runs horizontally through the middle of the audio clip when you are looking at the wave form display style of that audio track. The rubberband represents audio volume.
No, audio volumes might have been adjusted in my tracks but they are present. The problem is usually like ~2-5seconds, a random audio track can be heard (like music or narrate) or just no sounds at all. This makes it very difficult to work with the audio. Also I gotta say that this problem starts by simply having the 2-3 audio tracks.. In my recent project the only adjustment I used to edit the audio was fade in/out.
I don't have any other audio problems with any other programs.
I am more than happy to provide more information if needed. I hope this information helps.
In addition I can say that when I close Adobe Premiere Elements 12, it crashes. No idea why.
I have also looked up my firewall settings, anything involved adobe and premiere..
In addition some effects like HD text templates make "Adobe Media Core CS6" crash. I tend to just not use em, or if I need em, I add em at end of the edits.
I hope this helps, I would really like to solve this problem.

Attachments can't be dragged to desktop, get Text Clipping instead

Has anyone had this problem?
I have a MacBook Air, OS 10.5.2, Mail 3.2. Every time or almost every time (98% of the time) when I try to drag an attachment or attachments to the desktop (from the attachment window within the email) I get a Text Clipping on the desktop instead of the documents.
I can save to the downloads folder and drag them out of there but that's just another time consuming step.
This has never occurred before with previous Mail versions until I got my MacBook Air and 10.5.2.
Anyone else having this problem?
Any suggestions?

I will have to pay attention to the body of the email to see if the attachment is highlighted. I do not try to drag it out of the body of the email, I turn down the triangle for the attachment window, revealing the attachments, highlighting them and then double click using my multi-touch pad and then try to drag them out (I do not use the touch bar below the pad area anymore). Most of the time, I can not see the entire email or the attachments in the email body, so I have never noticed if they are highlighted. They most likely are if I highlight them in the attachment window as I do.
The weird thing is, I have dragged out attachments the exact same way for years using Mail, but now there seems to be a problem.

Text clipping content disappeared on Google Drive

I am running OS 10.7.5 on 2009 Mac Pro. I created some text clipping files by selecting text from some web pages (in latest version Firefox) and dragging to a folder on my Google Drive. When I open them at a remote location on a different machine which also shares/syncs my Google Drive folder, the contents of the text clippings has disappeared. On the bottom of the text clipping window there appears "clipping contents: unknown" instead of "clipping contents: text" that appears with a normal clipping file. When I create a clipping file on my desktop, upload it manually to Google Drive and then check my Google Drive folder (where it syncs almost immediately) The same thing happens. So Google Drive does not like clipping files. Question is, what about them causes Google Drive to drop their content? Is this, as I would expect, common to all versions of Mac OS or peculiar to Lion? Thanks for any insights.

I understand that you're working on a way to help moving back files to google drive. Actually, I can copy / paste, but it always renames the files, so I end up with both a "copy of" and my original file.

What is your exact workflow? The proper procedure is to select your text layer in AE, find the text preset you want to use, then drag or double click that preset to apply it to your project.
It also helps if we know your version of AE and OS down to the decimal point. You didn't give us much to go on.

How to create a black and white text clip?

I'm using pro Cs4 and was wondering how do I create a black and white text clip? When I used Vegas there was a clip I could put in, and simply write whatever I needed.
Still getting used to Pro Cs4 and was wondering if anybody can help me.

Do you wish to have a black field w/ white text, over part of an existing Video Clip, or do you want just a black field w/ white text and not have any Video showing through?
For the latter, just do a Title in Titler, w/ white text, and place that on the Timeline.
For the former, let us know the exact details, as that is slightly different.

[Edit] as a little background, when in Titler, you will see a "black" background, but that is really Transparent. However, if placed on the Timeline, with nothing below it, it will show black.

Copying a URL has always resulted in a webloc file. No more, very recently. All I get is a text clipping with the contents of the URL box.

If you are using Safari you can select the URl then go the services under the Safari menu at the menu bar, scroll down and select Text Edit and then select New Window Containing Selection and the URL will be saved as a Text Edit file completely intact, nothing to add. Takes about 2 seconds.

Framerate change to nested sequence of text clips?

Having successfully rendered a 25 frame project as a finished film with burned-in subtitles and other text. Now I wished to create a 29.97 NTSC version. I have attempted this by sending the complete rendered 25 frame film to Compressor and re-rendering as 29.97 ProRes 422HQ using Compressor and then re-rendering, again with Compressor, as mpeg2. I found that some of the previously successfully rendered text now appears (in the ProRes file) to be somewhat blurred and to be unstable and 'jittery' when over a light, moving background.
It occurred to me that the best solution might be to separate the background material, render this to 29.97 ProRes 422HQ without the titles and then to apply the sequence of title clips at the new framerate. Thus there is no framerate change to rendered text.
Having nested these text clips in my 25 fps project, if I paste these into my 29.97 project they come up out of sync (unsurprisingly). I have tried changing the speed of this nested sequence of text clips by 25/29.97 which (almost) worked in terms of fixing the timing but the image quality of the text seemed impaired.
Can anyone please suggest an alternative way of imposing a framerate change on an unrendered nested sequence of text clips? My aim here is clearly to avoid the need to adjust each clip's duration manually especially as some have 'motion' scrolling within them.

It is entirely possible that you could find the font information and replace it.
Just keep in mind that the project files in CC are actually zipped.
Create a project with one clip and one title and then tear the project file apart to find the info you want to search on.
Then try it on a copy of your big project. It is tedious, but you might pull it off.

How to make a text clipping of a URL?

When saving to pdf text saves half white, half chosen colour.

When i save as a pdf, the hyphen comes out half white and half gold. It is supposed to be full gold.
The reason i used a hyphen is because when printing the quality doesn't fall as it is a text.
I tried clipping masks and all and no resolve.

I have an interesting problem that I am hoping someone can help me with.
I have several short videos (2-4 minutes) in 1080i HDV that I have edited in FCP. When output to 720P 30 H.264 in Compressor at either 10 or 6 MB they look just drop dead gorgeous when played back on either of my dual processor Macs.
However when played back on a Windows machine with QuickTime 7, they stutter to the point that playback locks up. This happens on 1.5 GHz to 3.2 GHz P4 class machines with 512 MB to 1 GB of RAM and 64 to 128 MB video cards. On the 3.2 GHz P4, the processor utilization peaks at 100%. The interesting thing is that all of these same Windows machines have no problem playing back 720p 24 trailers at 6 MB.

First a correction. I am using the latest version of FCP – 5.
Regarding the encoding, I have tried going from native HDV MPEG-2 to H.264 at 720P from 10 to 4 MB at 24, 30 and 29.97. The Mac seems to play everything back very well, but most PCs (the latest IBM T 40 – 43 series laptops) a couple of Dell desk tops (2.6 GHZ with 64 and 128 MB graphic cards) and a 3.2 GHz Shuttle PC with a 128 MB graphic card (that we routinely use to decode four MPEG-4, 4CIF images simultaneously and display on a 42” ED Plasma) choke/stutter to varying degrees with processor utilization hitting 100%.
So, the real issue here is what is the difference between a 720p trailer that I can download from Apple and what I can output using Compressor 2 at a similar data rate – other than the frame rate?
And why does the Compressor output stutter on most PCs?

Creative mediasource 5 cd playback stutt

I have an external soundblaster 24 li've usb with my laptop. the original mediasource would not burn cd's Re: it said it could not find the cd-writer. No problem i just used windows media player to burn. Well i discovered that there was a mediasource 5 with a cd-writer plugin. It worked. Then there was an upgrade and all ____ broke out. Not really, however when I burn a cd and try to play it's back on my laptop the playback seems to stutter with mediasource and with windows media player. It does not stutter in other players off my computer, neither does the playback stutter if i use winamp. Was up? Can anyone help please. Thanx
