Playbook and dropping wifi

Just picked up my new 64gb playbook due to the price drop and run setup wizard etc.I can connect to my home wifi initially and stay on for as long as I want, but then when I come to connect again say in the morning it doesn't let me on
I've got brand new virgin broadband the nice fibre optic quick stuff with a shiny superhub, my laptop runs fine using the Ethernet and the only other wireless devices in the house are 2 blackberry bolds which run fine.
I constantly have to reset the router in order to re connect with my playbook which is really frustrating.
Any help would be great as this is kind of making my playbook experience a poor one if I have to reset my router everytime I want to go online.
Cheers in advance

This is not a Virgin forum but...
Login to the router using your web browser at http://192.168.0.1
Enter your username/password. The default settings will be found on a label at the back of the superhub under "Superhub settings" and will probably be 'admin' and 'changeme' respectively.
On the next screen, find the 'Advanced Settings' link at the bottom of the page
Go to Wireless settings. It will be there.

  • Metal desk and dropped wifi

My father had an issue and lost both his printer and desktop
Im looking to exhaust all possible wireless solutions before I string wires everywhere
My dad is 70 and still kicking problem is he lost his old setup to an electrical issue that has since been recitfied
His new laptop an printer are both surrounded by metal
Laptop sits on a metal desk and his printer sits on a metal file cab surrrounded by metal file cab's
Laptop drops signal intermitently as does the printer
I have moved both to other areas and when not surrounded by the metal office both work without issue
I feel his metal desk may interfere with his wifi, am i right?
Anyone know of anyway to maintain a connection and allow him to use the desk his father gave him when he started his first business
Could i buy a 1/4' pvc sheet and use that as insulator or buffer between the tech an the metal?
    Any help is appreciated
    Solved!

Yes you are right. Metal will shield wireless signals.
Hardware the devices with Cat5e cable.

  • IPad 2 Freezing and Dropping WiFi

Over the last few days my iPad 2 continuously freezes whilst watching things through iPlayer / Sky Go / 4 OD etc. Sometimes the WiFi will go completely and I need to switch back on.
I have checked our Internet and all is fine, tried using the apps via my iPhone 5 and had no problem whatsoever. The problem definitely lies with the iPad.
I have closed all Apps and restarted iPad a number on times but it continues to carry on in the same way.
iPad is fully charged, up to date with Software and has plenty of memory available.
Can anyone suggest what the problem might be and how to fix it?
    Thanks

This is Apple's official WiFi trouble-shooting page. You should waalk through the list trying it all.
In addition, you can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • IOS 6 NewiPad and dropping WiFi

New iPad  WiFi connection dead immediately after iOS 6 upgrade:
WiFi can be restored by toggling flight mode off then on, and it will stay active until I go the App Store or try using maps at which time the WiFi stops working for all applications.
Toggling Flight Mode brings back the connection.
    HOW CAN THIS BE FIXED?
I have tried the "renew" fix, the "reset" fix, the "forget" fix, the "AUTO Proxy" fix and done a couple of hard reset.Same problem, no change.
iPad functioned 100% under iOS 5.
    Really annoying

Here is a reply to MY original post on this exact issue. I am unable to test it since I am on my employers network. Maybe someone else can try this and let everyone know if it works.

i have the same problem here on my new ipad. iOS6. i seem to fix this by turning my router off and then on again then changing my router's SSID. but first, log out to your apple account on the settings ("itunes and app stores") tab on your iPad. reboot the device and try again. i can connect to the internet immediately after. you can now access the appstore, you will be asked to enter your Apple ID and password. but NEVER forget to log out your appstore/itunes account upon exiting the wifi. or else same problem will occur when you re enter to the same or other wifi networks.

  • MacBook Pro and iPhone 4S Repeatedly drop WiFi

First off I didn't know what category to put this question in because it really is AirPort, MacBook Pro, and iPhone 4S at once.
So I have a different home network setup than most, I have 2 routers on my network. Now before you start pointing fingers, all other devices work perfectly on it. I have two Netgear WNDR3300s, only one is DHCP, UPnP, NAT, etc... And they have separate channels. My family members' iPhone 5, iPhone 4S, iPad 2, iPod 4, and iPad Mini, all work perfectly on this network at a blazing 20Mbps (Tested using Ookla's SpeedTest Website and iOS App). My iPhone 4S and MacBook Pro continuously drop the wifi signal at random times and I am no more than 5 feet from the nearest router. Here are the details in a less condensed form...
    Network:
    Cable Modem Arris TG722
    v
    Cat 5e Cable
    v
Router 1 (DHCP, NAT, UPnP, Channels 6g and 157n) Netgear WNDR3300 DualBand Router
    v
Cat 5e Cable (Connected to 1 of the 4 LAN ports on BOTH routers)
    v
Router 2 (No DHCP, No NAT, No UPnP, Channels 11g and 149n) Netgear WNDR3300 DualBand Router
    v
    MacBook Pro
    iPhone 4S
    MacBook Pro
    - Mid 2010
    - 13 Inch
    - OSX: 10.8.5
    - Processor: 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    - Memory: 8GB 1067MHz DDR3
    iPhone 4S
    - Bought about 3 months after release
    - Condition: Like New
    Routers
    Netgear WNDR3300
    Firmware up to date
    Non-interfereing channels
    Connected via CAT-5e
DCHP, NAT, UPnP only on one.
Something to note is that I do have AirPlay on my network passing through a first gen AirPort Express and second gen Apple TV on an Ethernet CAT-5e connection. I most often drop wifi when streaming to the AirPort Express, however it also occurs at other times. The devices do drop it randomly however, I was streaming music and it dropped 3 hours in when I did nothing.
I consider myself very tech savvy, of course that is opinionated. At this point I am clueless because of the randomness of the connection refusal and how all other devices are ok.
Not sure if I mentioned it but if I try to recconect to the netowkr after it drops it either says "Timed out" on Mac or "Unable to connect" on iPhone.
I am so confused now... If you have any ideas please let me know!
P.S. The two devices operate much better on my network when it only has one router, but I must have 2 for the range and versatility.
If any more information is needed please let me know.

I upgraded to OSX Mavericks and I am still having the same problem on both devices. It is occuring more and more often to the point where I almost broke something .
Something weird to note is that every time it drops, I will try to reconnect. When I do so, it says failiure still, but the new window on Mavericks has the diagnostics button. As soon as I hit that button the wifi jumps right back, working perfectly. (Of course then I will lose it 5 minutes later).
If anyone has any ideas please let me know!!!

  • My i Phone drops WiFi connection after just a few minutes and wont reconnect unless I reset the network settings and reboot the  phone?

My i Phone 4s has suddenly started to drop wifi connection after nealy months of near perfect connections?
To restore a wifi connection I have to reset the network settings and restart the phone, this only fixes the issues for around 2-3 mins?
Other quick fixes like switching wifi on and off/ switching to airoplane mode for a few secconds have no impact.
This is really annoying as I am using my data allowence very quickly, and as the phone is continually searching for a wifi connection the battery time has reduced dramatically.
I just wondered if any one else has the same issue, and any suggestions as to how I can fix this.
    Thanks in Advance

    Reboot.
    Restore (from backup)
    Restore (as new)
Test after each step. If one of them doesn't fix the problem, make an appointment at the genius bar.

It's important that you have a steady WiFi connection, ZealousEdge. What phone do you have? Is your phone unable to connect to any WiFi network? If you can, please try deleting the saved WiFi network and re-adding it.

  • Dropping WiFi Connections after new Mac Min and Upgrade

First of all does anyone know why this discussion was archived when there was never a solution posted?
        https://discussions.apple.com/message/12586041?tstart=0#12586041
Secondly (why I found that thread among many others addressing the same problem). I received a new Mac Mini for XMas (cool, I needed it) which worked fine with my other computer and devices (2 iPads, 2 iPhones, 2 Win7 Laptops and 2 Win7 desktops) for a couple days, so I thought. Now all these devices got along very well until Mr. Mini comes along. Then I note wireless drops occasionally, it seemed to come back so I wasn't too upset, yet and decided to deal with it later and enjoy my vacation.
Now, after I allowed Leopard to do its upgrade (I had deferred that) I now have all the above devices dropping wifi and physical LAN connections as long as this Mini is powered on. I shut it off, Internet is blazing, I turn it on, Internet falters and screeches to a halt.
Since all my other devices have worked cooperatively for several years and this device comes along and crashed the party im pretty convinced its not my router or computers. I am not interested in trial and error here. i have many better more important things to do and this is Apples responsability to figure out. I am a very savy IT dude (career professional) and want to get to the bottom of this for everyone.
Soooo.... What changed? Why does this device kill my network when it is turned on (note, no alterations from out-of-the box to any network protocol or config.) and why does a thread (one of many) without a solution get trumped on by Apple?

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

I understand you are experiencing intermittent connection issues with your wireless on your HP Pavilion 500-164. I am assuming that you are running Windows 8 as that is what the system came with so my suggestions will be based on that operating system. I am providing you with an HP Support document: Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8), which was designed to assist in troubleshooting several common issues with Windows 8 and wireless. I am recommending that you review the document and follow the troubleshooting steps to assist in resolving your wireless issue.
I am assuming you have already tried several of the steps and or have additional devices that can rule out some of the steps right off, so follow the steps that you have not tried and lets see if we can get this issue resolved for you.
Please re-post if you require additional support. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Time Capsule drops wifi/internet connection and flashes amber

Time Capsule drops wifi/internet connection and flashes amber.  I've tried unplugging it and my modem but it continues to do this every so often.  The time capsule is out in the open, so I don't think it's a heat issue.  It's running firmware 7.7.3.  Anyone else having this issue?  Any suggestions on how to fix it?  It's driving me crazy!

Bought the time capsule in Oct 2013.  I have a Sagemcom 2864 modem from Bell but used through Teksavvy.  The 5 ghz has been flaky until I upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.1 I think.  I had a closer look at it and it appears that the wifi is ok.  I was thrown off by the wifi symbol being all animated in the menu bar.  I was able to ping the time capsule via wifi.  All the status lights on the modem looked ok.  Next time it happens, I'll see if I can get some more details.  Do you know if there's anyway to get some logs from the airport utility?
